We stopped at Java Lava Cafe for breakfast on our way to Denver, and it ended up being one of the best stops of our trip. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful right from the start--especially when my wife was deciding what to order. They even suggested the option of getting a half burrito for half the price, which was a great tip and much appreciated. She went with the Mama's Burrito (with bacon), and I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito. We both had ours smothered in the green chile (pork) sauce--highly recommend. Both were excellent. The chorizo in the Christy was especially well done--full of flavor without being greasy. My wife loved hers, and the half portion ended up being perfect. We also had coconut lattes, which were smooth and really well balanced. Even though you order at the counter, the staff checked in on us several times, which added a nice personal touch. The space is bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. It's in a strip mall, but being on the end gives it a more open feel. The Southwest, slightly kitschy décor fits the vibe well. We noticed a steady stream of regulars and to-go orders, which says a lot. Places don't stay busy--or around this long--without doing things right. If you're anywhere near Granby, this place is absolutely worth a stop. read more

Stop through here on our way out for breakfast as we had our puppet with us so we wanted something yummy and fast. You walk into a cute coffee shop with a walk up counter where you place your order for breakfast and drinks. They bring the food out to you. They have a pretty extensive breakfast menu with their most popular items being the skillet and their burritos. So we got those. I don't eat beef or pork so they were able to make mama's breakfast burrito, vegetarian style, full of veggies instead of meat with salsa instead of the pork green chili. For a small town, we were so pleased to have stopped into Java Lava Cafe. It's easy to see why they are rated so highly. Super colorful interior, friendly down home staff and pretty speedy service. We stopped in on our way back from boarding and enjoyed our meal here. We had breakfast - served all day (until they close at 2 pm) but if you're a lunch person, they also have a lunch menu. He had Huevos and I ordered the G Skillet. Great flavor - no Cholula sauce needed. Love that mine included green chili sauce. Yum. I was on vacation and came here almost every morning for a week. It's a cute local place and the staff is really friendly. The service is fast. I enjoyed everything I ordered. If you come and get a coffee I recommend getting an iced coconut brûlée with extra caramel. For breakfast I also recommend getting Christy's breakfast burrito! It's delicious. We are so happy we stopped, the breakfast we had was delicious, it was the hashbrowns with eggs and green chili, plus we got a side of bacon. The hashbrowns were actually cooked and not hash whites, the green chili was delicious they also give 2 small flour tortillas which is perfect for sopping up the delicious goo on the bottom of the plate. Solid place for bfast. Located in a little shopping center area next to a mattress place and other home items. They have outdoor seating too but not a lot of shade so go early or bring an umbrella for yourself! Lots of coffee options in dispensers, friendly service, food came out quickly.
