We stopped at Java Lava Cafe for breakfast on our way to Denver, and it ended up being one of the best stops of our trip. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful right from the start--especially when my wife was deciding what to order. They even suggested the option of getting a half burrito for half the price, which was a great tip and much appreciated. She went with the Mama's Burrito (with bacon), and I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito. We both had ours smothered in the green chile (pork) sauce--highly recommend. Both were excellent. The chorizo in the Christy was especially well done--full of flavor without being greasy. My wife loved hers, and the half portion ended up being perfect. We also had coconut lattes, which were smooth and really well balanced. Even though you order at the counter, the staff checked in on us several times, which added a nice personal touch. The space is bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. It's in a strip mall, but being on the end gives it a more open feel. The Southwest, slightly kitschy décor fits the vibe well. We noticed a steady stream of regulars and to-go orders, which says a lot. Places don't stay busy--or around this long--without doing things right. If you're anywhere near Granby, this place is absolutely worth a stop. read more

Stop through here on our way out for breakfast as we had our puppet with us so we wanted something yummy and fast. You walk into a cute coffee shop with a walk up counter where you place your order for breakfast and drinks. They bring the food out to you. They have a pretty extensive breakfast menu with their most popular items being the skillet and their burritos. So we got those. I don't eat beef or pork so they were able to make mama's breakfast burrito, vegetarian style, full of veggies instead of meat with salsa instead of the pork green chili. The G Skillet had a little kick and flavor was good. My favorite was the huevos, this had the best flavor and the refried beans tasted great on this breakfast plate. My fiancé and I were looking for a good spot to have breakfast before heading to sulfur springs, and this place popped us, so we decided to give it a try. Welcoming spot, lots of people and a line, so it's obviously popular, they have a huge space up front as well as a huge space in back, so plenty of spots to sit. Their menu was pretty good, definitely something for everyone. My fiancé got unsweetened iced tea and it had floating gunk, looked like mold. For a small town, we were so pleased to have stopped into Java Lava Cafe. It's easy to see why they are rated so highly. Super colorful interior, friendly down home staff and pretty speedy service. We stopped in on our way back from boarding and enjoyed our meal here. We had breakfast - served all day (until they close at 2 pm) but if you're a lunch person, they also have a lunch menu. It took a really long time in order to receive our food. If you're visiting the area, this place is a great place stop by. I was on vacation and came here almost every morning for a week. It's a cute local place and the staff is really friendly. The service is fast. I enjoyed everything I ordered. If you come and get a coffee I recommend getting an iced coconut brûlée with extra caramel. For breakfast I also recommend getting Christy's breakfast burrito! It's delicious. The everything bagel with the chive and onion cream cheese is also really good! I definitely love this place. If I lived in the area then I would make it one of my regular places to go. read more

Friendly staff, plenty of outdoor (and some indoor) seating during COVID. The prices are very reasonable and the food was very good! I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito and it did not disappoint. It's big but not overly large. I loved that you can tell the dishes are homemade--hand cut potatoes and chorizo, fresh green chile sauce smothered on top. I loved every bite of it. What an awesome place. The only odd thing about it is the order and pay at the counter, otherwise, yummy all the way. I could have ate tons of the monkey bread, warm and melty and perfect! The egg sandwich is a size up from a normal English Muffin size, my boyfriend said it was the perfect size. My breakfast was great! The bacon was a little thicker than most places, again, I could have ate a pound of that too. The prices were perfect, not over priced for the area. We had been guests at the hot springs, this was on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park, this was the perfect place! Definitely a good stop and would go back again. read more
