We stopped here in the morning and caught a chill time with the nicest employees and other customers. Seeing the big French fries display out front is what drove us to stop, but the building on the outside was extremely fascinating which drew us to check out inside, and walking inside the door was even more fascinating. So many shot glasses on display which were fascinating to see, walls covered in different styles of artwork, an outdoor walk area and patio, and not to mention the sweet counter tops!! The atmosphere was great, we felt very welcomed. The service was great, the food was AMAZING. The selections on their menu sounded delicious and for a good price! If you like off the wall places to stop, this is one!

One of the best iterations of steak and eggs I have ever eaten!

I have been coming here for over 12 years and it is the heart of Gilpin County. This morning I was in the mood for steak and eggs and debated the $18 price tag. It was one of the best steak and eggs that I have ever eaten. A beautiful and perfectly seasoned ribeye prepared a perfect rare with excellent seasoning. No steak sauce needed. Is Roy a character, yes. Would he give anyone in need, regardless of color, class, orientation or any other characteristic, the shirt off of his back, yes. Barb and Roy are jewels of Gilpin County and give back so much to the community. If you are looking for a boring chain restaurant experience with blah food, there are plenty of opportunities for that down the mountain. To make a long story short, if you want excellent food, a friendly mountain community vibe, and a little bit of Gilpin County mountain character, come into Roy's Last Shot any chance you get.

This place is GREAT! Allowed my dog to join us in the restaurant.

It is a GEM in the mountains! Good food with an excellent, fresh side salad! They accommodated me with a bun-less chicken burger with lettuce as a bun substitute. After hiking in Golden Gate State Park until dark, we decided to stop by the this restaurant a few miles away from the entrance off of Highway 119 and we're pleasantly surprised at all of the artwork and woodwork of this beautiful mountain eatery (bar and restaurant). The food was very good and again, the side salad was amazing and staff was very friendly! We played pool ($1.00) and had a really nice evening there and will go back!!

Beautiful views from the deck. If i were local, this looks and feels like a place I would hang out at. Blues was playing over the speakers and they put out a decent burger and fries. The onion rings were the yummy thick cut kind and the beer was cold. Definitely didn't regret stopping here.

Trumpy. Mountain dive bar, could be cool. Asked for my burger medium, came out well done.

The service was fine and bartender was good. However, the regulars are most definitely not family friendly with crude and vile language.

They employ a team of very young girls to do the cash register. Repeatedly of late I have been made to feel very uncomfortable by my interactions with them. It feels like I am being transported back into junior high, but not in a good way. There is a projected underlying narrative directed at me, and these "professionals" feel comfortable being openly rude and inappropriate towards me, and have instigated local gossip, as well If a business is going to rely on child-labor they need to take responsibility for the appropriatess of these employees behavior and not let their business be turned into a breeding ground for local drama and inappropriate behavior. Very disappointing

Pure elegance, definitely fine dining vibes done right. The complimentary Amuse Bouche at the start of the meal was a pleasant surprise. We tried:CH beet ricottaNY strip 16 ozJumbo asparagusGrilled broccoliniSmoked salmonChive whip potatoPistachio butter cake Every dish was a hit, clean plates all around. The CH beet ricotta was a bit unexpected, we were picturing more of a salad style dish, so it threw us off at first, but still flavorful. The smoked salmon ended up being my personal favorite, it was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully balanced. Also, the rich butter cake was delicious! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekend evenings when things get lively.

This place would be 5 stars if not for the food poisoning. We had been to Chop House once before…read moreand had a wonderful experience. I had given it 5 stars then, which I included in an overall review of the Monarch where it is located. However, with this last visit, that was not the case at all. This is an upscale, dimly lit steakhouse, and we had an amazing time trying it for our anniversary a while back. When we went to celebrate my birthday this year, it was a different story. Though service was attentive, prompt and friendly (which of course was reflected in our tip) I cannot give extra stars, as the food physically made my husband ill. He decided to have the lobster bisque, and unfortunately it immediately did not sit well with him. I tried it as well, and it tasted rancid. Being polite, he just pushed it to the side and did not say anything. Then the staff came over a few times asking about the bisque, then proceeded to comp it, which made us even more concerned. I'm a professional chef, and we do not serve anything that tastes or smells even remotely questionable, especially when it comes to seafood. He was ill for hours afterward (and into the next day). After tasting it myself, I could not stomach much more of our very expensive meal. My steak and French onion soup were fantastic in flavor, but I was not able to enjoy much of it, as I also had a nasty taste from the bisque and felt nauseous just from the smell alone. They did bring me a free birthday dessert, which I appreciate. However, I did not get to choose what I was eating. They brought out pumpkin cheesecake. To give credit- I'm sure it was chosen because it's a popular dish, but I personally do not like pumpkin at all. In fact, it makes me gag, frankly. I do however, love cheesecake and tried a bite to be polite, but I did not like it, let alone want it. I decided not to say anything about the dessert they chose for me, since I did not pay for it, and we were trying to get out of there due to not feeling great after the food served. I was disappointed even more at this point, as it would've been nice to at least be able to choose and enjoy my "celebration dessert", especially considering how much money we spent- even less the bisque. Not to mention how awful the experience was due to food poisoning. We will not be back, which is unfortunate considering how great our first experience was. This experience was awful enough to deter us from further visits....
