Filet mignon

Per my Dad's words... "the best prime rib I've ever had." This is a really nice steak house. The ratings are in the middle of the road, but the food was spectacular. Prime Rim, Rare, cooked to perfection, by dad was so happy.... and that is what makes me happy. My filet, really good, cooked to perfection. We always stay at Ameristar, but their dining options are very limited. No, buffet, no fine dining restaurant on a Tuesday, seriously, Ameristar has got to step up their game because Ill start staying somewhere else unless we can get gourmet food.... most people come here on a splurge, but Ameristar NADA.... nothing other than burgers. If youre looking for an indulgent steak, White Buffalo is the place to go.

Had dinner here twice and both experiences were wonderful. Staff were very attentive, my glass of water was always full. We ordered steak during both visits with plenty of sides. We tried the sirloin, bison, ribeye, and filet mignon. We added the red wine demi-glace to some of them, all were excellent. For sides, we loved the Mac n cheese and roasted cauliflower. We were stuffed but still ordered the crème brûlée for dessert, which we also really enjoyed. For drinks, we ordered a bottle of wine both times, which was extremely well priced with great options. Highly recommend!

White Buffalo Grill is a place that is confused as to what they want to be. They portray it as a nice, intimate classy restaurant, but there is no dress code. I was wearing a shirt, tie, and slacks and felt over dressed. Three tables away was a man in a scruffy t-shirt and jeans. The bussers (who were quite young) were referring to other couples as "you guys". I also expect amenities such as freshly-ground pepper to be available. I don't expect to have the same $1 salt and pepper shakers the buffet has. All of this is a little out of place for the image the White Buffalo is striving for. My server (I think his name was Merek) was excellent and attentive. He brought out the correct packaging for my leftovers, including a separate cup for my creamed corn. The box was foil-lined, which I appreciate. He also brought out sour cream in little metal cups, which I appreciate as well. I ordered a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and it was fantastic. The shrimp were giant; the same size of shrimp I had on South Padre Island. The cocktail sauce had nice hints of horseradish. The Caesar dressing on my salad tasted like paste. It could have used some garlic or any kind of enhancement. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the mustard sauce that came with it was the perfect accompaniment.

Service and food, excellent! Cori (front desk) and Patti (server) extremely polite and really hardworking. Few dining options at Blackhawk right now so they were quite busy but never let it affect their customers. Appetizers and Entrees were exquisite, all Covid protocols observed! Highly recommend if you in Central City!

Great food! I've been eating here for a few years and the meals are always excellent. The service is starting to slip though. I love the fact that the dinners come with soup or salad (they make all their salad dressings from scratch) and two sides. They have great au gratin potatoes and creamed corn. I usually get the lamb chops but the steaks are great too.

Very good food and service. The ambiance is nice as well. The waitress was very friendly. It cost about the same as the buffet.

Good food with vegetarian options. Less expensive than buffet if you order ala carte asparagus, salad, spinach, etc.

They accommodated us walking in and some special dietary needs easily. The wine was very tasty and the food was good, but not phenomenal, especially given the price. For this price, Monarch Chophouse is equivalent and an experience that is in a different category (in the best way). It's a very quiet, intimate space, and I think they played the entirety of Sinatra's playlist! Good if you're there, but for a better local steakhouse for this price, I'd go with Monarch.

When we arrived without reservations they were still able to accommodate us and sit is in a booth. The restaurant wasn't full at all though, I don't know if I would expect to call for reservations. The place was clean and romantically lit. The servers were excellent. We ordered shrimp cocktail appetizer, a New York and a Fillet. Both paired with Lemon pepper Asparagus and baked potatoes. After ordering they brought us some rolls, this is where we were taken back. These were nothing but store bought Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, and they weren't even freshly bought. We passed on them, the shrimp cocktail was amazing so we have them a pass on the rolls. When the actual meal was served we found both the asparagus and baked potatoes were under cooked. Those this isn't difficult items to cook, we are the potatoes and passed on the asparagus. The steaks were less then par and very dry. They bring a side of gravy with them but this alone wasn't enough to make up for the tough dry steak. I know I am from Wyoming and will challenge anyone to compete with our states top steak houses, but I think I wouldn't compare this to the worst of them. It's about like eating warm jerky, even then I think there is more moisture in jerky. Never again. The service is the only reason they received 3 stars the meal is less than desirable, the price is definitely not reflective of anything but the price.

Despite the historical nature of the building, I was disappointed to see that the interior looked neglected and dated. Barring the interior decor, this restaurant provides just an average experience with nothing remarkable (good or bad) to write home about. Upon entering, we were immediately seated. Our server came by shortly to take our orders, and we received our food within a very reasonable time-frame. However, none of this was impressive considering the fact that the restaurant was mostly empty. The food itself was equally unimpressive. It wasn't exceedingly bad or exceedingly good; it was on par with something I could make at home. Overall, if you're in the area, it wouldn't hurt to drop by. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

I had given it 5 stars then, which I included in an overall review of the Monarch where it is located. However, with this last visit, that was not the case at all. This is an upscale, dimly lit steakhouse, and we had an amazing time trying it for our anniversary a while back. When we went to celebrate my birthday this year, it was a different story. Though service was attentive, prompt and friendly (which of course was reflected in our tip) I cannot give extra stars, as the food physically made my husband ill. He decided to have the lobster bisque, and unfortunately it immediately did not sit well with him. I tried it as well, and it tasted rancid. Being polite, he just pushed it to the side and did not say anything. Then the staff came over a few times asking about the bisque, then proceeded to comp it, which made us even more concerned. I'm a professional chef, and we do not serve anything that tastes or smells even remotely questionable, especially when it comes to seafood. He was ill for hours afterward (and into the next day). After tasting it myself, I could not stomach much more of our very expensive meal. My steak and French onion soup were fantastic in flavor, but I was not able to enjoy much of it, as I also had a nasty taste from the bisque and felt nauseous just from the smell alone. They did bring me a free birthday dessert, which I appreciate. However, I did not get to choose what I was eating. They brought out pumpkin cheesecake. To give credit- I'm sure it was chosen because it's a popular dish, but I personally do not like pumpkin at all. In fact, it makes me gag, frankly. I do however, love cheesecake and tried a bite to be polite, but I did not like it, let alone want it. I decided not to say anything about the dessert they chose for me, since I did not pay for it, and we were trying to get out of there due to not feeling great after the food served. I was disappointed even more at this point, as it would've been nice to at least be able to choose and enjoy my "celebration dessert", especially considering how much money we spent- even less the bisque. Not to mention how awful the experience was due to food poisoning. We will not be back, which is unfortunate considering how great our first experience was. This experience was awful enough to deter us from further visits....
