White Buffalo Grille was a bit of a mixed bag for us. The restaurant itself was very clean, and the service was excellent. Our server (whose unique name I sadly can't remember, possibly starting with a "U") was attentive, friendly, and the highlight of the night! *Thanks gurl!* We split the New York strip, which was cooked perfectly to temperature. Unfortunately, the steak itself was pretty fatty and more chewy than I'd expect for the price. Good execution, just not great quality. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and came with a delicious chili-style sauce, though they were a little firmer than I prefer. The baked potato, however, was surprisingly hard and tasted like something I could easily make at home. Also, my cocktail was very light -- I could barely taste the vodka compared to other spots in town. We did appreciate the complimentary cheesecake and apple pie-style dessert, (we came up for our 5 year wedding anniversary) which was a nice touch. Overall, great service and atmosphere, but the food didn't quite match the price point. read more

We live in Black Hawk and have been here a handful of times. Always the same type of experience. They always seem short staffed and not excited about your arrival - this past visit (with no reservation - which someone always seems to look down their nose to that) we were asked to wait while they made us feel like they were doing us a favor and squeezing us in. When they did seat us there were Multiple open and clean tables that never got sat during our visit. The waiter took a long time to greet us and when he did he simply walked up to the table with no smile or welcome (it was quite awkward). Bottle of wine arrived with the appetizer and our server never came back to fill our wine glasses. That would be fine but our bill for 2 people was $200 and the wine was not that expensive and no desserts. The worst part is the atmosphere. Decor is nice enough and views of the mountains and other casinos is fine...but there is absolutely no audible atmosphere not a single note of music, but you do get a blaring announcement multiple times each half an hour about casino raffles. My husband almost dropped his glass of wine the first time the man yelled into the speaker right over our heads in a completely quiet room. The food can be very good or ok. A restaurant experience (specially with these prices) should be an escape to another level with over the top appreciation for your patronage and should not be scaring you to death with casino announcements. We talk about it every-time how someone would not have a remedy for this - like announcing in the casino where chaos is always around and texting the winner of the raffle in case they are trying to enjoy a relaxing dinner in what is supposed to be an elevated dining experience. Per my Dad's words... "the best prime rib I've ever had." This is a really nice steak house. The ratings are in the middle of the road, but the food was spectacular. Prime Rim, Rare, cooked to perfection, by dad was so happy.... and that is what makes me happy. My filet, really good, cooked to perfection. We always stay at Ameristar, but their dining options are very limited. No, buffet, no fine dining restaurant on a Tuesday, seriously, Ameristar has got to step up their game because Ill start staying somewhere else unless we can get gourmet food.... most people come here on a splurge, but Ameristar NADA.... nothing other than burgers. Had a stellar experience at this Steakhouse inside The Lodge Casino. Pro Tip: Make a reservation. We walked up with no reservation. And, even though they were booked until late in the evening, they said they could get us in if we gave them some time. This was huge. It took about half an hour, but they were able to get us a table. Our server Zak was awesome. He was obviously covering several tables, but took every opportunity to answer our questions and check in on us. We bonded over our love of comedic metal. He and the sommelier made our night! We happened to order a bottle of wine that was brand new for the restaurant, a red blend from CA, and it was a perfect pairing with our prime rib. The Prime Rib was massive. When I finished my pasta, I had to "help" finish it. Great flavor, nice seasoning, good au jus and really nice horseradish sauce. The shitake mushroom pasta was wonderful. The sauce was thin, the hand made pasta was thick, wide noodles, the mushrooms were al dente and and the flavors really came together in a delightful way. Pro Tip: Ask for a table by the windows on Main Street. There is some epic people watching to be had. From drunk people face-planting on the sidewalk to questionable clothing choices and the hiding of a backpack in a bush. There's something for everyone. read more

Had dinner here twice and both experiences were wonderful. Staff were very attentive, my glass of water was always full. We ordered steak during both visits with plenty of sides. We tried the sirloin, bison, ribeye, and filet mignon. We added the red wine demi-glace to some of them, all were excellent. For sides, we loved the Mac n cheese and roasted cauliflower. We were stuffed but still ordered the crème brûlée for dessert, which we also really enjoyed. For drinks, we ordered a bottle of wine both times, which was extremely well priced with great options. Pros: Good Mac n Cheese You won't waste all your money gambling because you'll be in too much pain after eating here to leave your hotel room Cons: Service Food Quality Price Atmosphere-There is a PA system from the casino that loudly interrupts your meal every five minutes to make an announcement about promotions the casino has, somebody winning a raffle for $200, or some other such nonsense. While you're eating your $50 steak you get commercials for the casino. I know this sounds like a poorly written gag from a sitcom but somehow it's true, in real life. I would go to bed hungry before eating here again. This place absolutely ruined my weekend. read more

White Buffalo Grill is a place that is confused as to what they want to be. They portray it as a nice, intimate classy restaurant, but there is no dress code. I was wearing a shirt, tie, and slacks and felt over dressed. Three tables away was a man in a scruffy t-shirt and jeans. The bussers (who were quite young) were referring to other couples as "you guys". I also expect amenities such as freshly-ground pepper to be available. I don't expect to have the same $1 salt and pepper shakers the buffet has. All of this is a little out of place for the image the White Buffalo is striving for. My server (I think his name was Merek) was excellent and attentive. He brought out the correct packaging for my leftovers, including a separate cup for my creamed corn. The box was foil-lined, which I appreciate. He also brought out sour cream in little metal cups, which I appreciate as well. I ordered a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and it was fantastic. The shrimp were giant; the same size of shrimp I had on South Padre Island. The cocktail sauce had nice hints of horseradish. The Caesar dressing on my salad tasted like paste. It could have used some garlic or any kind of enhancement. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the mustard sauce that came with it was the perfect accompaniment. read more

I don't know how this place got the high reviews it did but my experience was not the greatest. My salad looked 3 days old I could tell the cucumbers were cut several days before and refrigerated several times the lettuce very wilted. I asked for medium well and received medium rare they took it back to cook a little more and it came back well done...not to mention no flavor no salt pepper nothing they just threw meat on a grill . If your going to sale $40 steaks the staff should be able to cook them. I can say the bacon Mac and cheese was good. But I will never come here again read more

I really want to give this place four stars. My issue is like many others, the service. I ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer. It came out Luke warm, not hot. It tasted pretty good, just not hot, or fresh. It seemed to be rewarded for nightly service. The big issue is service! Yes, getting greeted by a 16 year old who has no idea of the hospitality industry doesn't work for me. Remember,you guys want to charge $50 for a steak. Fabulous time with the Utah and Colorado team spent at this restaurant. There were about 30 of us and they sat all of us in a long table. Took a while for some of us to get the main course but it's understandable. I recommend the Picatta chicken. Flavors were good and tasty. The shrimp cocktail was so gigantic. The caprese salad was good and the chicken wings are a must order. For dessert we enjoyed the cheesecake and the Apple crostata. They will also pretty much make any drink of your choice. The bottom line is this restaurant kinda give a vibe of a fancy place without the resources to do so. After looking at the menu the prices seemed kinda insane, but in their defense you do get a salad and two sides - so show up hungry... For discerning steak eaters, this place seems to have a very difficult time getting their steak temperature right... their 'chef' might benefit by investing in a meat thermometer. I ordered a medium rare sirloin, and it came out medium in how it was cooked (color), but it was rare cold. I told them I don't eat pork, but they didn't specify that their cheesy gnocchi side had bacon... so missing out on that side I had ordered and wasting it was a disappointment. My wife and I dined at White Buffalo Grill to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were at our table right on time. The dining room is properly socially distanced which is very important to us. All employees wore masks. Kevin was our waiter and was efficient and pleasant. My wife raved about her cucumber martini, my Lambrusco was tasty. Our shrimp cocktail was very nice with large shrimp. She ordered the ahi appetizer as an entree and the chef jazzed up the plate presentation accordingly, and I ordered lamb chops. The lamb was super tasty and served medium rare as ordered. The sides could have been warmer, but I can forgive that because they tasted good. Overall, I'd give White Buffalo Grill an "excellent " on our special occasion. Upon arriving to the buffet I noticed the line to get in would have taken over an hour and wandered over to the buffalo grill instead. I waited nearly 20 minutes with open seats at the bar, the wait was because the bartender or nobody else for that matter had time to clean a spot. To be honest the entire staff seemed a bit disheveled. I waited about 15 more minutes after seating to have my order taken and then what seemed like enough time to have watched an entire movie on my phone waiting for the food to arrive. I actually asked for the ticket the minute the food was dropped off - not because I was ready to go, but so I didn't have to send out a search party for the waitress and wait forever again. The food itself was good, the view is very pretty (a bit cold next to the window, but what can you do). All in all, the menu looked great, the food was fine, but I wouldn't return due to the attentiveness and wait from the staff. I had the worst experience at this place I regret that I could not even give it a lower rating. The manager Melissa provided horrible customer service. Very crude and rude, I witnessed her harassing her staff and the food came late and cold. I was very polite to staff and when Melissa came out to speak to me she appeared to be very irritated and accused me of laying. I explained to her that I wouldn't pay for this meal and she accused me of stealing. I was taken aback of the accusations being thrown in my face. I told her that this no way to treat a customer at any establishment. I don't think she should be working at any place with an attitude like that. I got up and walked away, Melissa continued to harass me and tell me that I have not paid for the meal which I only took one bite off. Salad seemed to be served directly from the buffet bar next door. Baked potato was served cold and burned on the bottom. Ambiance was pretty, quiet and romantic. I've been here a couple times because my gambling friend will receive $50 off coupons every now and then. Last time I came I had: -Crab cakes. Living in DC, I eat my fair share of crab cakes, but these are definitely good. Nice portion of crab meat with flavorful filling, then fried on both sides to crispy perfection. Served with a dipping sauce (tastes like mellowed out tartar sauce) and fresh bell peppers. -Tournedos Oscar (beef tenderloin topped with asparagus and and dungeoness crab). My meat was really dry actually, I asked for it medium rare and it came out more like medium-well. The béarnaise sauce was not very flavorful and I ended up using A1 anyway. I got the sauteed mushrooms and mashed potatoes as sides. The mushrooms were really weird - it was a flavorless combination of shitaki and button mushrooms - very odd. The mashed potatoes were good. I also tried some of my friend's cream corn which was also good - not too runny and the corn was sweet. I can't complain because the food has always been a bit better than decent and I've never paid full price but I can imagine it being disappointing if I did. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at the dinner we had at the White Buffalo Grill. Very decent. I started with a salad that was fresh and tasty, with a good blue cheese dressing. Mr. Mixer had the Maryland Clam Chowder and enjoyed it. My meal was a petite filet cooked to a perfect medium rare. The garlic mashed potatoes with it were good, but I did not like the creamed corn. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I tried the White Buffalo before they recently renovated the room, the food was horrible. The garlic mashed had raw garlic chunks and they couldn't get the steak temperature right, twice. 2nd try was right after they remodeled, and it looks nicer, but the food was still horrible. The Caesar salad had whole pieces of romaine lettuce hearts, so you had to cut up the pieces on this skinny plate that made eating it cumbersome work. Again, steak temp was wrong and this time, my side of sautéed mushrooms had a short piece of human hair, added no charge. Sent back the shrooms only to have the redo include yet again another piece of hair. The one eyed waiter informed my date and I, the only reason I returned to this poor excuse for a restaurant was for a girl, that the mushrooms are made in a big tray so they may have to dump the whole batch. He also said that they are working on improving things such as the salad issue, as another lady was complaining that her salad was all spinach. That on top of poorly cooked steak made me resent my date for making me break my oath of "Never again!" to the crappy White Buffalo Grille after my first poor experience there with their food. 3rd and finale attempt at the Lodge Casino White Buffalo Grille. Caesar salad is cut up like a normal salad should be. Bread was a bit stale. Friend ordered pork loin with sauce on side, sauce came on top. My short ribs with mashed and mushrooms, figured I'm at a casino, I like mushrooms so I gambled and ordered the hair laden mushrooms again, this time no hair in my mushrooms, . Every I ordered was fine, but there was another piece of hair on the refined pork loin plate. When I pointed this out to our waiter, he was apologetic and called over the manager, Jen, who told me that she couldn't guarantee that hair won't be in the food so maybe I should find a better restaurant with cleaner, health standards. Was this lady serious? My friend and I could believe what the manager Jen was actually saying about the standards of the restaurant she manages. Needless to say, I will never ever return to the White Buffalo Grille at the Lodge Casino unless it's on the sole of someone's shoe as dust after I'm dead. Stay away from this place! Food is horrible, service subpar, health standards are deplorable and the management is clueless. read more

My favorite restaurant whenever I visit the mountains!! White buffalo is a fancy and classy restaurant located in The Lodge Casino. Service is very professional. The mountain view is beautiful. I usually get the Surf & Turf but I especially LOVE their FRENCH ONION SOUP!! It is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! Everything I've eaten there so far is so mouthwatering good! I don't think there is a dress code at all but you definitely need to make reservations to get seating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more
