So we have been coming up kind of alot lately, and as you may or may or may not know any casino that offered a buffet or salad bar is none existent. so when we are up we have been trying what is available as far as a bite to eat is concerned, this particular day we opted for the "complimentary" prime rib dinner after you earn x amount of points I think this day it was 50. so i will walk you thru our experience, there was not alot of ppl so you would think we would have been acknowledge some what quickly but unforortunately the 2 servers kept looking at us and kept on with thier server activities, after about a 10 minute wait the hostess finally approached us and sat us. Our waitress explained that she had just started her shift so "bear" with her. I understand that sometimes we dont want to be at work but if your going to work with the public that should be something you enjoy. So in other words our server had as much personality as a tree branch. we placed our order as we each had the prime rib which i upgraded to the larger cut as the complimentary one was approximately 6-8 oz. and when we asked for a salad no house salads were offered only a ceaser salad as an entree. All in all we were not impressed with the service or the food as my wifes cut was dry and about an eighth in thick and the presentation was not impressive , also our baked potatoes seemed like they were reheated and from the night before as they were luke warm. So in my opinion I think you would do better off eating somewhere else, even if you do get the "complimentary" prime rib dinner, I would maybe wait until the place goes back to normal instead of getting leftovers The end result is if you do decide to dine at " The Grill" order something else off the menu other than the prime rib.

Large plate of beef nachos! So yummy!

The only thing I didn't like as much was the hashbrowns, they were just okay. I also ordered the jalapeño bread French toast (recommended by our server). I love jalapeño flavor, but I remember thinking it sounded kind of weird for French toast... but I'm glad I tried it because it was so good. They make their breads in-house and I would definitely get that again. I also tried some of my friend's banana bread and that was really delicious too. Didn't get a chance to try these since we had to get to the hot springs soon so thought it's too much food to finish in time, but they had a French toast flight and a Benedict flight, which I've never seen before. Pretty cool, I love anything where you can try multiple flavors. Overall, would reccomend this brunch spot in Idaho Springs. Would come back!

This place is supposed to open at 7:00 - at 10 after an angry hippie opened the door and begrudgingly seated us. We sat for about 5 minutes and observed the hippie chaos that ensued. Despite the historical nature of the building, I was disappointed to see that the interior looked neglected and dated. Barring the interior decor, this restaurant provides just an average experience with nothing remarkable (good or bad) to write home about. Upon entering, we were immediately seated. Our server came by shortly to take our orders, and we received our food within a very reasonable time-frame. However, none of this was impressive considering the fact that the restaurant was mostly empty. The food itself was equally unimpressive. It wasn't exceedingly bad or exceedingly good; it was on par with something I could make at home. Overall, if you're in the area, it wouldn't hurt to drop by. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

The 550-seat Victorian opera house in town is not only a historic landmark, but also an acoustical marvel. There is not a bad seat in the house.

They accommodated us walking in and some special dietary needs easily. The wine was very tasty and the food was good, but not phenomenal, especially given the price. For this price, Monarch Chophouse is equivalent and an experience that is in a different category (in the best way). It's a very quiet, intimate space, and I think they played the entirety of Sinatra's playlist! Good if you're there, but for a better local steakhouse for this price, I'd go with Monarch.

When we arrived without reservations they were still able to accommodate us and sit is in a booth. The restaurant wasn't full at all though, I don't know if I would expect to call for reservations. The place was clean and romantically lit. The servers were excellent. We ordered shrimp cocktail appetizer, a New York and a Fillet. Both paired with Lemon pepper Asparagus and baked potatoes. After ordering they brought us some rolls, this is where we were taken back. These were nothing but store bought Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, and they weren't even freshly bought. We passed on them, the shrimp cocktail was amazing so we have them a pass on the rolls. When the actual meal was served we found both the asparagus and baked potatoes were under cooked. Those this isn't difficult items to cook, we are the potatoes and passed on the asparagus. The steaks were less then par and very dry. They bring a side of gravy with them but this alone wasn't enough to make up for the tough dry steak. I know I am from Wyoming and will challenge anyone to compete with our states top steak houses, but I think I wouldn't compare this to the worst of them. It's about like eating warm jerky, even then I think there is more moisture in jerky. Never again. The service is the only reason they received 3 stars the meal is less than desirable, the price is definitely not reflective of anything but the price.

For our Italian portion we had the garlic cheese bread to start and tiramisu to finish. Both were amazing. The greetings and interactions on the phone were the same as being welcomed at the front door, nice. Ambiance: Typical Mountain town pseudo-fancy place with indoor and outdoor seating. Open concept. Caesar Salad: 3 The Romain Lettuce was weak. Not green, vibrant, nutritious Romain... check the pic. Also, a Caesar with "balsamic glaze" is spitting on the idea of a time intensive anchovy dressing. This dressing did not taste homemade and had balsamic which effectively ruined it. Elk Stew: 3.5 The stew was hearty, thick, and quite delicious... and over salted. Potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, plenty of elk. The bread bowl was soft and tasty. It would be ideal to be a sourdough locally baked bowl, IMO. Overall, I'd try it again at some point.
