Cowboy pancakes

Located in beautiful Idaho Springs, Co. This is an amazing town with lots of great food. This is the cream of the crop, probably the nicest and fanciest restaurant there. The prices aren't cheap but the food is great. I'd recommend this place for breakfast/brunch and dinner. The steaks here are great. The breakfast is really good too. The staff is friendly. I've been served quickly here where other restaurants around have over an hour wait. It's worth it and it's an impressive establishment.

Classic breakfast- ham, eggs and potatoes

After hiking in Georgetown, we decided to stop in Idaho Springs for breakfast. Honestly we picked it because there was no wait. The prices weren't too bad for breakfast/ brunch, and we got seated right away. The food was good. I got the classic breakfast. My only complaint is that they only had packets of creamer for coffee. For a "nicer" place, I was surprised they didn't have better options.

This is our usual stop in Idaho Springs. The food is reliably good, even though the service can be a little slow. I think they are just consistently understaffed. The cocktails are really quite good. The purple rain is my favorite. This time around we had the brussels sprouts and garden salad with shrimp. Everything was great, especially sitting outside in the patio area.

Grilled Brie

This place created such deeply satisfying experience for our group of 3 celebrating a birthday. We were prepared to spend a little more than usual in exchange for a proper good meal and this place delivered that 100%. Between the 3 of us we got two pasta entrees, a mashed potato side, bok choi side, grilled Brie, clam chowder, two desserts, SIX drinks and spent $247 after tip. Every thing we ordered was delectable; but the grilled Brie. Good lord. I felt like a royal renaissance woman being fanned with palm leaves and hand fed that ish. My boyfriend who famously doesn't like cheese was turned to the cheese side tonight. You won't be disappointed by this place, the bang is worth your buck (even though the buck is totally reasonable for what you get).

Elk Stew

Service was quick and our waitress Keely was great. I had the Elk Stew, it was savory and delicious. I love a good thick strew so it was perfect. My husband had the ribeye with the Brussels sprouts, his steak was cooked perfect to order and the Brussels sprouts had great flavor. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. Would def recommend and would def come back if we are ever in the area.

Wedge Salad

Great restaurant stop on our way to Breckenridge! Sirloin steak was great with a loaded baked potato. Portions were large. My friend loved her wedge salad. Service was good; our server managed our table of 8 with a smile. Ambiance is contemporary casual.

Very good burgers and excellent beer battered fries. Spacious and clean tables, booth and bar seating , high ceiling windows looking out the prime pedestrian intersection. Clean restrooms. Responsive service. We ordered elk stew, bison meatloaf, MTN prime burgers with mushrooms and fries. All are really good and filling. The shaved ribeye is soft and flavorful. The beer battered fries are exceptional. Paired with a glass of local beer to have an excellent lunch. Price is in line with a burger/steakhouse joint locally.

We came here for lunch and it was great! The service was perfect. The food was delicious. I ordered the crabcake BLT with a side of Caesar salad and some Elk Stew. I thought everything was amazing. I think the crabcake could use a lemon on the side so people have the option to squeeze it in or not. I love my seafood to have a kick of citrus, but other than that it was great. This place also reflects a lot of the town's history which was pretty cool.

Visited MTN Prime after a nice day at the Hot Springs. It's located in a nearby, quaint pocket of town. As visitors, we browsed the length of the strip to see what interested us. We had this spot in mind from the start, but wanted to check out our options. We decided to eat outside since it was such a nice day. I treated myself with the crab cakes and salmon. I love love love crab cakes and these did not disappoint. The spicy mayo paired so well. As for my entree, I did enjoy the salmon and asparagus. I wasn't too sure about the risotto - I actually thought they were grits. It didn't have any flavor to it and I could have done without. I finished everything since I was spending the money and because again, we were starving. There was a neighboring patron who we heard complain about the risotto and they were given a plate of mashed potatoes as a replacement as well as a comped meal. I got to try my friend's poke nachos and these were delish. It was a refreshing app. Unfortunately, my friend's salad was drenched in dressing and she was barely able to finish it. While there are things MTN Prime can improve, we left full and generally satisfied.

We were sat without delay, the inside is cute and gives a mountainy cabin vibe. They are a brewery and also a distiller, I tried their Housemade vodka, seltzer, it was light and easy to drink. They had a multitude of flavors to choose from as well. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the tomato artichoke soup and an order of sweet potato fries. This was one of the best soups I've ever had, so creamy and cheesy with real artichoke pieces in each bite, seasoned so well and served with little pieces of naan bread The sweet potato fries were also incredible, just so fresh and cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside and just seasoned to perfection. The rest of the table tried the burgers and had great things to say about them. The server was also really nice and helpful, i can't remember her name but she made some great recommendations and was very attentive. Prices are reasonable and for bar food this was really a great experience. Definitely will be back!

Westbound & Down is a great place to check out and service matches the great beers they offer as well. Greeted with a warm welcome and a smile, we were quickly whisked away to our seats and greeted by a wonderful waitress with colorful tattoos on one arm and black/white tattoos on the other. She ran through the list of food and beverage like she had written the menus. The ambiance matched their personalities and easily had the mountain vibes! We ended up getting something fairly small since we had big plans for dinner in town. The bison burger was such a great bite after bite and the fries did not disappoint. We would certainly return and check it out again and again!

Unfortunately the service and food were average at best. Our waiter seemed rushed and barely made eye contact or stopped at our table. The burger and chicken sandwich were fine. The fries were the best part. The chicken sandwich had way too much coleslaw so the bun disintegrated pretty quickly. We enjoyed the food enough but at the price, we expected more both from the food and the service.

This place would be 5 stars if not for the food poisoning. We had been to Chop House once before…read moreand had a wonderful experience. I had given it 5 stars then, which I included in an overall review of the Monarch where it is located. However, with this last visit, that was not the case at all. This is an upscale, dimly lit steakhouse, and we had an amazing time trying it for our anniversary a while back. When we went to celebrate my birthday this year, it was a different story. Though service was attentive, prompt and friendly (which of course was reflected in our tip) I cannot give extra stars, as the food physically made my husband ill. He decided to have the lobster bisque, and unfortunately it immediately did not sit well with him. I tried it as well, and it tasted rancid. Being polite, he just pushed it to the side and did not say anything. Then the staff came over a few times asking about the bisque, then proceeded to comp it, which made us even more concerned. I'm a professional chef, and we do not serve anything that tastes or smells even remotely questionable, especially when it comes to seafood. He was ill for hours afterward (and into the next day). After tasting it myself, I could not stomach much more of our very expensive meal. My steak and French onion soup were fantastic in flavor, but I was not able to enjoy much of it, as I also had a nasty taste from the bisque and felt nauseous just from the smell alone. They did bring me a free birthday dessert, which I appreciate. However, I did not get to choose what I was eating. They brought out pumpkin cheesecake. To give credit- I'm sure it was chosen because it's a popular dish, but I personally do not like pumpkin at all. In fact, it makes me gag, frankly. I do however, love cheesecake and tried a bite to be polite, but I did not like it, let alone want it. I decided not to say anything about the dessert they chose for me, since I did not pay for it, and we were trying to get out of there due to not feeling great after the food served. I was disappointed even more at this point, as it would've been nice to at least be able to choose and enjoy my "celebration dessert", especially considering how much money we spent- even less the bisque. Not to mention how awful the experience was due to food poisoning. We will not be back, which is unfortunate considering how great our first experience was. This experience was awful enough to deter us from further visits....

The CH beet ricotta was a bit unexpected, we were picturing more of a salad style dish, so it threw us off at first, but still flavorful. The smoked salmon ended up being my personal favorite, it was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully balanced. Also, the rich butter cake was delicious!
