Biggest steak on the menu and mashed potatoes. Both delicious
Tiffany O.

I wanted to take my husband too a nice place for his birthday. Although this place was tucked away in a casino, it was quiet with nice decor and nice jazzy music. Only one waitress/hostess but she did really well. Beef tips app was good, the steak was perfectly cooked, mashed potatos were good. Salmon was over cooked but i asked for it to be done so that was probably my bad. The lobster was sweet and good. Dessert was a brownie sundae and was good. My husband thought the brownies were too hard. Over all decent experience.

Had dinner here a while back while passing through Blackhawk. The service was prompt and the crab cake was the best I've ever had! Was happy to get away from the diner food that most of the casino's up there seem to serve.

Looking for the perfect spot for dinner? Your search is over! This spot is a hidden gem!! My sister and I happened to stroll by this place on our way through the casino. It's definitely fine dining, but the servers are super chill and friendly. Prices are about what you would expect, but the portions were surprisingly big - the dish my sister got could have fed three people (and we were hangry!). All the food we had was super yummy, but pro-tip: get the crab cake!

My husband and I spent a few days staying in Blackhawk and this was definitely our favorite dinner. They have a beautiful selection of wine and the crab cake is to die for! Also our waiter was perfectly attentive, and when my order came out wrong he was quick to apologize and correct it-- and even gave us a complimentary dessert!

Lamb! Drool-worthy.

Pure elegance, definitely fine dining vibes done right. The complimentary Amuse Bouche at the start of the meal was a pleasant surprise. We tried:CH beet ricottaNY strip 16 ozJumbo asparagusGrilled broccoliniSmoked salmonChive whip potatoPistachio butter cake Every dish was a hit, clean plates all around. The CH beet ricotta was a bit unexpected, we were picturing more of a salad style dish, so it threw us off at first, but still flavorful. The smoked salmon ended up being my personal favorite, it was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully balanced. Also, the rich butter cake was delicious! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekend evenings when things get lively.

I had given it 5 stars then, which I included in an overall review of the Monarch where it is located. However, with this last visit, that was not the case at all. This is an upscale, dimly lit steakhouse, and we had an amazing time trying it for our anniversary a while back. When we went to celebrate my birthday this year, it was a different story. Though service was attentive, prompt and friendly (which of course was reflected in our tip) I cannot give extra stars, as the food physically made my husband ill. He decided to have the lobster bisque, and unfortunately it immediately did not sit well with him. I tried it as well, and it tasted rancid. Being polite, he just pushed it to the side and did not say anything. Then the staff came over a few times asking about the bisque, then proceeded to comp it, which made us even more concerned. I'm a professional chef, and we do not serve anything that tastes or smells even remotely questionable, especially when it comes to seafood. He was ill for hours afterward (and into the next day). After tasting it myself, I could not stomach much more of our very expensive meal. My steak and French onion soup were fantastic in flavor, but I was not able to enjoy much of it, as I also had a nasty taste from the bisque and felt nauseous just from the smell alone. They did bring me a free birthday dessert, which I appreciate. However, I did not get to choose what I was eating. They brought out pumpkin cheesecake. To give credit- I'm sure it was chosen because it's a popular dish, but I personally do not like pumpkin at all. In fact, it makes me gag, frankly. I do however, love cheesecake and tried a bite to be polite, but I did not like it, let alone want it. I decided not to say anything about the dessert they chose for me, since I did not pay for it, and we were trying to get out of there due to not feeling great after the food served. I was disappointed even more at this point, as it would've been nice to at least be able to choose and enjoy my "celebration dessert", especially considering how much money we spent- even less the bisque. Not to mention how awful the experience was due to food poisoning. We will not be back, which is unfortunate considering how great our first experience was. This experience was awful enough to deter us from further visits....

We were able to sample the wine before getting a bottle which I appreciate. The wine we had was delicious. Now food was a little bit of a miss. We got a charcuterie board which was good. The cheese and salami selection was good and it came with crackers, marcona amonds, fig spread and olives. I mean honestly nothing fancy or unique about it. But it pairs well with wine. We also got the focaccia bread which I felt was kind of greasy. I didn't even dip it in the oil cause it had enough oil in its own. We also got the margherita flatbread, but that didn't feel like a flatbread at all. The bread was thick and made it feel more like a pizza. The taste was good so I won't knock it completely, but I wouldn't be calling that a flatbread. Service was great, just a shame the food doesn't live up to expectations. I'd probably stick to the wine and charcuterie which were the best things I had.

It was pretty quiet (still off-season), and my husband and I were the only ones there when we walked in around 10. Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. Overall a very good vibe and very inviting to hang out. Service: Friendly and fast Food: Menu is definitely a step above your classic bar food, I got a sandwich special and steak tips. The sandwich was a grilled cheese croissant that included smoked gouda and balsamic reduction and it was really good. The steak tips were okay, decent flavor, a little chewy, maybe because they were cut so small? Value: Total after tip was $30ish for a 'just right' portion so may a little over valued.
