This place is a hidden gem sitting inside Monarch. The steakhouse is the most popular. We came on a Wednesday night and the specials they had were outstanding. The place was not crowded at all and the waiter along with tableside service was well above average. These guys know how to treat their guests. Give them a try as you will not be disappointed.

Mariposa is a gorgeous bistro in the Monarch casino. It is beautifully decorated and feels very special. The menu is small but has a nice variety of items. We enjoyed the salmon and the chicken fajitas. The grilled shrimp starter was tasty, but the shrimp should have been shell free considering they are served with guacamole and other sauces on top. You have to get all the stuff off in order to peel the shrimp before eating. Very messy and frustrating. The service was near perfect. The prices are high but the experience makes up for that somewhat.

We had a great experience this past Friday. Our server, Catherine B., was super helpful with going through the menu with us - patient, friendly, and professional. I loved the modern/trendy design of the restaurant. As far as the food, everything we had was delicious - 10/10! The queso fundido was giant and had a great flavor profile - the mushrooms were sooooo good! My only recommendation would be a pair of little food scissors because it had a crazy cheese pull. We shared the short rib special and charbroiled carne asada - great flavors and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the manzana. Highly recommend. It was so interesting - basically a cooked apple with a tequila candied shell and some amazing fried ice cream. I would definitely return next time we visit Black Hawk. Little tidbits - we started with complimentary chips and salsa and ended with complimentary cookies with the check.

Wife and I came because my company gave us gift cards. However we will come back to just to eat here on our own dime. The food, service and environment are top notch. Highly Recommend!

This is a beautiful restaurant located in the Monarch. They have a wonderful happy hour on Wednesday where portions of the menu are half off. Tons of potential but the place can be hit or miss. We've gone 3 times and found a few items were pretty inconsistent. One visit we loved the chili Relleno. The last visit and it was awful and shell overcooked and inedible. Beware on the one, all the drinks have been delicious. The great : Smokey Paloma Jalapeño marg Yuka fritas Chips and green salsa Tacos The bad: Chili Relleno (depends on the chef, the one with the hard shell is bad. Mariposa Salad - hard and incredibly difficult to chew. Oysters - way overly salted In the end, I give it 4 stars because we will be back again for the fabulous drinks , tacos and chips & salsa, and the excellent service.

Fantastic service and food. The servers and cooks were friendly, smiling, and welcoming. The decor was great and there was live music. We ordered the duck empanadas with plum sauce, prime carne asada tacos, and seafood enchiladas. I have zero complaints. Its underrated.

The service was great, the food was amazing and the ambiance was delightful! Our service was quick, the food was so tasty and a good amount. Price was very good.

Love this spot. Smoked pork tacos and grilled shrimp tacos were awesome. 2 choices with the chips and salsa, both yummy. Fast service, Tj is the best! Spicy marg was also great.

Nice restaurant! Situated on the third floor of the hotel casino, it is an handsome spot for a meal. Upon entering you will see the kitchen as chef prepare dishes. The hostess greets you and seats you. They take reservations but we walked in after a day scouring the mountains. They have a lot of traditional dishes paired with takes on others. It was hard to choose but I went with the lobster tacos and my sister the shrimp but we shared. So, so good! The waiter was helpful, poised and pleasant. They have specials and the Bass was tempting, but the tacos were outstanding. I ate every bite. Satisfied for sure memorable and so much more to try!

The husband and I decided to bring his mom up for the night of fun. She looked over the menu and picked things that caught her eye. This was a to go order. To start chips & salsa- like I said safe. Not spicy for us but not bad. Next up a salad -( Ensalada a la Parrrilla). This was a miss. We didn't even get half of the ingredients in the salad. Total waste of money. $14 Last was the Posole de Pollo. My mother in- law really enjoyed it. She said the portions were more than enough and as for the taste it was a 4.5. On more than one occasion she said she had whole garlic and liked the chicken and squash.

Maybe rightly so as their specialized ingredients are harder to get. We sat inside this time though we used to go mostly mid summer and sit out. The patio was jam full last night so we ate inside where it was quite empty early evening during happy hour. My husband had the happy hour special of the evening, a very large serving of large mussels with grilled sourdough and a lucious broth. We also had some small plate tapas and I mostly grazed those. I love Bocarones and they do it so well though for me last night, the peppers were a bit too spicy. But I got the majority of the little fishies, my husband the peppers.. We also had the tortilla papas and the charred Hazel Dell mushrooms which were excellent. The little salad topping on the tortilla was full of specialty greens like fennel fronds and pea shoots. The mushrooms has a warm egg yolk on top to stir into the dressing which was tasty. We finished with their flan which was as good as my Spanish born neighbor made in my youth. I had a very nice tea with it. I was originally going to knock off a star for pricing but honestly, I don't think they have much option these days. My husband and I were only in Boulder for a few days but we went back a second time since we knew it would be safe for me and we both enjoyed it. I had a pork chop off the specials menu the first night and the vegan cauliflower steak the second night. Loved both, but especially recommend the cauliflower steak. Keep in mind it's tapas style, so your food will show up in the order it shows up, not all at once. Getting second drinks was a little slow as the place got more crowded, but the drinks were good. Non alcoholic cocktail options looked good too -- my husband ordered something off that list but subbed in regular alcohol and was very happy with the results. If you have strong opinions about wine, you might want to google the wine list ahead of time; the wine menu lacks descriptions and the waiters were a little less fluent in pairing recommendations there.

We ordered about 10 different toppers for the table, so it was pretty good odds to find a couple that weren't winners, but I have to be honest. The ambience is so cute, very swanky, but anything in Colorado still feels casual because everyone shows up in flannels and T-shirts. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and were sat right on time, and the service was really great. I started with a Pisco sour, one of my favorite drinks and really uncommon to find in this part of the world. It was delicious. I could've drank five of them. We shared a bunch of tapas for the table, starting with the patatas bravas, octopus, ceviche, duck wings, yuca frita, croquetas, gyozas, and shishito peppers. The clear winner was the ceviche - not your typical Peruvian style, made with salmon and a thicker aji amarillo sauce. It was absolutely amazing and served with these yummy plantain chips that paired so well with it. Those were also a big standout. The texture was perfect both outside and inside. I liked the octopus too, and the patatas bravas were good but felt they could have been a little more crispy on the outside and had the sauce more well-distributed. The wings really were not memorable, overly breaded and thickly sauced. The yuca was the biggest letdown of the night, usually one of my favorite dishes, but these tasted like they came frozen from a bag and did not even finish microwaving before they were served. Still, I loved some of these dishes so much that I would definitely come back and stick with what I liked and try some new things too. Thanks!

It was a beautiful day so the patio was very comfy; I hate being too hot or too cold when eating, so this was perfect. We took a very long time catching up, but our waitress was extremely friendly and patient. She was great. We ordered a couple of dishes to start (tacos and a salad) and chatted away until we chose our next plates. Each dish that came out was very tasty, beautifully presented, and arrived very quickly. We were immediately sat on the patio around 5:45 PM. We were greeted and given "welcome bubbles". What a nice touch. After about 5 minutes, we were finally given menus. Other people were sat around us, so we waited to ask for the happy hour menu. We ordered the chef's choice charcuterie, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The drinks and board were yum, but not quite a wine bar as there were very limited option by the glass. Also, we had to ask for plates and silverware where this is a basic item. While deciding on dinner, we were approached a couple times by the 2 servers in the section. One was friendly, the other, not so much, rather indifferent and made us feel a little uncomfortable and not very welcome. This kind of set the tone for the rest of our night. We ordered the "family share" chateaubriand. We realize this is an expensive cut, but the portion is definitely not a sharing cut, around 4 oz. It is closer to a single entree. When it arrived, the plate was cold, like the meat was lukewarm and the cauliflower was ice cold. Again, we had to ask for silverware and plates for this "family style shareable" plate. We brought the cauliflower temperature up with the server and got new cauliflower after we were done with the rest of the meal. Also, I sat with an empty wine glass and no one stopped to ask if I needed another glass. When the servers did stop by, it was a short interaction and we never even had a chance to ask before they were already walking away. We saw so many people come in and out that they must be doing something right, but for us, our experience was mediocre. If our meal would have been the correct temperature (it was well prepared, just cold) and better execution on the service, we may have had a better experience.

It was so delicious and sweet with the salty bacon on top and a deeper flavor from the brown butter, and the texture was cake-like but bouncy. It was delicious. Service was great, super fast and thoughtful and the restaurant itself was very nice! They had a bar in the middle of the room and TV's to watch, and a selection of booths and tables.

Well I could have left when I saw the $21 Hamburger. W.T. Heck is happening with restaurants? Anyway, the Soya, a grilled shaved beef on kabobs dish from Nigeria with a spicy peanut dipping sauce was disappointing. The Colorado presentation was chunks of grilled tough top round with a horseradish sauce presented on a bed of arugula and bird's eye peppers. Is alright, but lose the pretentious name. Ambience was ok. No music, TV, but nothing special.
