Ceviche de Pescado
Steve L.

UNDESIRABLE PRACTICES AND SERVICES? This would probably have been a 2-3 stars review if I were to write this before receiving my credit card bill, and I'll highlight a few things for the audiences' considerations. Food quality is not bad overall (say... 2.5 to 3.5 stars depending on the dish). "Ceviche de Pescado" was our favorite dish - fish was fresh and the lime juice was well balanced. "Robalo a la Plancha" (Grilled Chilean Sea Bass) was decent, and "Paella Mediterranea" was sadly quite overcooked. Then, there were a few areas where I had to deduct some points which unfortunately made it an 1-star review at the end. 1. Customer Service - While our server had a big smile at all time, she checked in with us with the "are you ready to order" question way too often and we felt her focus was to give our table to the next group of potential customers ASAP. (Side note: We made reservation a few weeks in advance, so it shouldn't be a situation where they squeezed us in their busy schedule.) At a point I was annoyed and ordered an appetizer (the ceviche) hoping she would leave us alone and gave us a chance to read the rest of the menu uninterrupted. That didn't help...... and the tipping point was when she stopped by literally within a minute after the ceviche was served (and I was putting the first bite in my mouth). As you'd imagine, this sort of killed our mood. We finished our meal and left in one hour. 2. Undesirable Business Practices a) Sparkling or Still - Shortly after we were seated, our server came by with two bottles in her hands and asked "sparkling or still". I know they're not the only restaurant that uses this sales tactic (to only outline chargeable options) these days, but it still annoys me... And quite frankly, it would have been perfectly fine if they asked "sparkling, still, or TAP WATER" instead. b) AUTOMATIC 20% Gratuity: We noticed a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. Again, they're not the only one doing this, but most other places would have informed the customers clearly on such policy. In this case, our server didn't mention this at all and the only reference was just some "fine prints" at the bottom of the menu (and I wonder how many customers might have missed that). 3. Incorrect credit card charges - When I received my credit card statement, I noticed the amount was higher than my record. Upon reviewing the numbers, I found the discrepancy was equal to the 20% gratuity amount. In other words, an attempt was made to charge me 40% gratuity in total...... While I was able to dispute via the bank (i.e. no financial loss), I wonder why the overcharging happened in the first place. For audiences' reference, below summarizes the key fields on the bill and I feel I've done what I can to avoid potential mis-understanding and errors: - Amount: Pre-filled by restaurant with full amount INCLUDING 20% gratuity - Additional Tip: I drew a diagonal line across this field - Total: I re-wrote the number from the "Amount" field above Hopefully our experience was an one-off "perfect storm" situation, and I sincerely hope others will have a much more enjoyable dining experience.

Sea bass with mushrooms and truffle

We enjoyed the fine dining here yesterday. The restaurant is cozy and relatively intimate. However they still welcome kids and babies. The staffs were super friendly and accommodating. The food is top notch. It is pricey but the food and service made up for it. We had the seafood paella and the Mediterranean paella. My kids had the fish and lamb chop. All of them were delicious. It's worth the splurge if you are in town.

Truffle mushroom soup and patatas bravas

This restaurant is so lovely in winter park! The service was very attentive - the chef/owner himself came out. The soup was so so amazing - it was a remy from ratatouille soup moment! Do not hesitate to get it! We got the potatoes as well which were yummy and my husband and I shared a beef dish. Everything we had here was yummy - but just watch that they do bottled water/fiji water here so the bill racked up! The vibes are intimate, lovely and nice!

Churros with caramel, chocolate sauce, and vanilla ice cream

Excellent experience. Very attentive service, he was so helpful throughout our dinner. The lamb chops were delicious, as was the paella and desserts. Highly recommend. Fantastic dinner.

Our favorite meal in Winter Park, CO, and we can't say enough about Paella's Restaurant. The staff is incredible, and Chef Neal is amazing! The food is delicious! We had the Vegetarian Paella, The Seafood Paella, and the Sea Bass. We also had the Gazpacho and Scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The ambiance is perfect for a cozy romantic dinner or a family style dinner. A harp player showed up while we were having our dessert, Flan! Everything was perfect!!!

Great menu that delivers!…read more Came on Thurs night just before 7PM and were fortunate to get a table for two. The place was certainly packed abuzz...seems to be the place to be. We ordered Aji Amarillo Salmon Ceviche ($27), Gyoza Al Pastor ($21), Ensalada de Manzana y Manchego ($18), and Smoked Shishitos ($17) and we enjoyed all of our selections! Really unique menu and offerings and everything was so tasty. Service from Michelle was super friendly.

We ordered about 10 different toppers for the table, so it was pretty good odds to find a couple that weren't winners, but I have to be honest. The ambience is so cute, very swanky, but anything in Colorado still feels casual because everyone shows up in flannels and T-shirts. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and were sat right on time, and the service was really great. I started with a Pisco sour, one of my favorite drinks and really uncommon to find in this part of the world. It was delicious. I could've drank five of them. We shared a bunch of tapas for the table, starting with the patatas bravas, octopus, ceviche, duck wings, yuca frita, croquetas, gyozas, and shishito peppers. The clear winner was the ceviche - not your typical Peruvian style, made with salmon and a thicker aji amarillo sauce. It was absolutely amazing and served with these yummy plantain chips that paired so well with it. Those were also a big standout. The texture was perfect both outside and inside. I liked the octopus too, and the patatas bravas were good but felt they could have been a little more crispy on the outside and had the sauce more well-distributed. The wings really were not memorable, overly breaded and thickly sauced. The yuca was the biggest letdown of the night, usually one of my favorite dishes, but these tasted like they came frozen from a bag and did not even finish microwaving before they were served. Still, I loved some of these dishes so much that I would definitely come back and stick with what I liked and try some new things too. Thanks!

You head to the back counter where you place your food order, and then you can head over to a table to sit and wait for the food to be ready. Once its ready, you head up to the counter to collect your food. The restaurant portion is real cute. They have some colorful tables and chairs which give it a nice Mexico vibe. Once you get your food, you can head over to the salsa bar and add all the additional toppings your heart desires. They have all kinds of sauces from spicy to mild and even have jalapenos and sliced radishes. I got an asada taco and a barbacoa taco and they were both delicious. But my favorite was the barbacoa. It had so much flavor and it was so juicy. I also got an horchata and it was perfect. One of the best I've had! The grocery side itself offers a huge variety of goodies you can find in Mexico including candy which is always what I look for!

The other half of the place is the restaurant. It's more like a small cafe which delivers authentic vibes but very humble. Food was amazing. We had their tacos and I had the burrito which was huge and packed with beef, rice, beans and guacamole. I had it with the loaded sauce on top. So basically you order your food and pick up once you're called. We tried their horchata and it was so delicious. Just the right touch of sweetness. Definitely a hidden gem but remember I rated this for their food and service. This is a humble authentic place.

We were about to get a last minute reservation for Saturday - although the bar seating is nice and cozy and usually always has spots open. The host Chase was super friendly and welcoming. He sat us a bit early, and he offered some of his recommendations. Most of the dishes are made to share. We started with the olives and iberico jamon. The jamon melts in your mouth! For steak, it's all about your preference. We opted for the dry-aged cowboy. Super smooth and not very fatty compared to some Chicago steaks we've had recently. Don't skip on the jamon fat fries or the sunchokes! We were too full for dessert but everything looked so delicious - and they use seasonal ingredients!

We went for apps/lunch and drinks. The view is so gorgeous and who doesn't love seeing mountains while enjoying a perfect red sangria? I mean, such good vibes and what a perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon. I can only imagine sunset. We got the pimiento peppers which were so good--the sauce is out of this world. The salad had the best vinaigrette and while I didn't take a picture (I was so excited to eat that I forgot), the steak frites was out of this world. The jamon fat fries were insane. So crispy and so flavorful. But the steak? Woah. Not a big portion, but that's not surprising for tapas! Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly-- aka, perfection. I'm so sad I don't live closer to Boulder. If I did, I'd be a regular. You have to go here!! Plus, the service was so good and fast! Our waiter was very kind and attentive. Again, it's tapas so expect dishes to come out when they're ready. So glad we went here. It was the best choice for us to enjoy a little lunch/app/happy hour. Can't wait to come back once I'm in Boulder again!
