I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was particularly disappointing. The customer service was the worst I have ever encountered. The woman taking our order, wearing glasses and a braided ponytail was curt, visibly frustrated, and made us feel unwelcome. She seemed so put out and talked down to us. There is an option to "make your own" order rather than selecting a pre-made item. However, when I attempted to do so, I was told no and the response was delivered in a notably rude manner. Despite repeating my order multiple times, it was still prepared incorrectly. Unfortunately, the food itself did not make up for the experience. The bread was dry and of poor quality. Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, both in terms of service and food. read more

Wonderful visit! Perfect stopover for lunch before heading over the pass. Sandwiches were delicious. Bread was nice and soft and portions were generous. Veggies were fresh. Broccoli Cheddar soup was delicious! Don't forget to grab a delicious peanut butter cookie on your way out. The classic deli furniture brought some good nostalgia. Service was quick and thoughtful. Loved, loved, loved! We ordered our sandwiches inside and they took less than 10 minutes. I had the veggie wrap. It was so full of goodness! Roasted red peppers, artichokes, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, feta and basil pesto. I got the macaroni salad side and that was delicious, as well. A lot of food for me, but it was so good, I finished. We sat outside on the patio. Even when it started sprinkling we were covered with an abundance of umbrellas. Great lunch spot! read more

We ordered lunch for pickup since it's been dumping snow in WP. Didn't get to see the inside but wow these sandwiches were delicious. I wanted the turkey melt but desperately wanted it cold (don't judge). I also subbed honey wheat for french bread because putting a $10 deli sando on anything but a fluffy roll feels wrong to me. It was perfect and they had awesome ratios of everything on it. One of the few delis in Winter Park, their paninis were delicious. You can build your own sandwich and they have plenty of other options aside from paninis. It was very busy when we went and took approximately 10 minutes for our food which was reasonable. You have the option for either a half or whole order for your sandwich and it comes with a side, the drink is not included. One of the best gluten free celiac safe sandwiches I've ever had! Super happy to have this option available in Winter Park and the staff was very kind and welcoming. They are taking orders at the window and all dining is at distanced outdoor tables. They use a separate prep area for celiac customers which is awesome and the flavors were delicious. It is ver unfortunate I have to write this. For the second time this month Rudi's has let me down. However this time they just do not understand what's happening. For the record the manager did refund my order... and now for the why: I place an online order over an hour before my arrival. Literally an hour and 30 minutes before my arrival and with a scheduled pickup time. Upon arriving I let them know I was a few minutes early. This s is where the lady behind the counter informed me she didn't see my order and they just had a "big" order coke in and it would be 40-50 minutes before it could be ready. I informed her and the manager I had placed my order over an hour ago. He informed me the online system doesn't undertake and what's going on and didn't figure out a way to complete my order. I will not be returning.... If by chance someone can assure me my orders will be ready at the time they tell me they will be ready I might try again. read more

There are is an option for everyone - sandwiches, gluten - free bread option, salads, soup! You can't go wrong with any of the options. Everyone in my party enjoyed their sandwiches and two of came back for more because it was so good. Please note, like every restaurant in Winter Park they are short staffed. Has potential but needs better execution. My meatball sandwich was cold and my daughter's grilled cheese was burnt. The bread is probably too thick. There were also a lot of flies. I like the place. The meatballs need to be warmed up better. Not sure what to do about the flies other than keeping the door closed but even then it might not stopped by that. I would go back though. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Tim H.

A native of NY, Tim Hubbard moved to Winter Park in 1998 to pursue his degree in Hotel Restaurant & Tourism Management. After working around the Valley in various Hotel & Restaurant Management positions, he purchased Rudi's Deli in July of 2005. Since then, Rudi's Deli operations, branding & decor have all changed, but the incredible menu has stayed the same.

Our group of seven set out to enjoy a meal together, but what we faced instead was a cascade of errors and outright disrespect from the waitstaff and management. To begin with, the server mixed up an order, which admittedly could happen in a group our size--but the nature of our requests made the errors easily avoidable and, just as importantly, simple to correct. Five of us ordered essentially the same thing, differing only in small details like scrambled eggs with or without cheese. When we politely pointed out the issues to the server, we were met with an unprofessional and rude response. At one point, he even went as far as telling some of our party members that they needed to "pay attention." This attitude alone soured the experience, but things only deteriorated further from there. For instance, when one person's eggs--which had been incorrectly prepared with cheese--arrived with no cheese, we kindly requested they be remade. Shockingly, the waiter refused outright, stating he would not redo the order nor remove it from our bill. If that wasn't bad enough, he went on to suggest we would receive poor service like this regardless of where we dined--a claim entirely untrue based on our many other dining experiences elsewhere. Given the escalating tension, we asked to speak with the manager to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, the response was even more disheartening. The waiter brusquely declared himself to be the manager and outright refused to take any action to address our concerns. Hoping for someone with more authority to intervene reasonably, we then requested to speak with the owner. When I pointed out that the server's behavior suggested he might have been having a bad day but ought to remain respectful to customers regardless, I was met with indifference. I tried to explain how critical customer service is--especially when tourists like us choose to spend money supporting local businesses--but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Ultimately, things reached a breaking point when another guest at the restaurant ask us to leave, as no resolution. It was such a shame because, truthfully, the food itself was quite good. Unfortunately, no amount of culinary quality can compensate for the poor treatment we received from both staff and management alike. To think that we originally planned to purchase some of their locally made jam as a show of support for their business--it now feels inconceivable that we'd contribute any further after such an appalling episode. To sum up: while the food may meet expectations for taste, the dismissive attitude makes this establishment one to avoid at all costs. If you value being treated kindly or even with basic professionalism, steer clear and take your business elsewhere where it will truly be appreciated.

The first time we were disappointed upon arrival when they were out of burnt ends. We're from KCMO and we judge a town's BBQ by their burnt ends. Nonetheless, the brisket, sauces and sides were enough to warrant a second visit. Oh, and that house margarita...chef's kiss! Just what a tired ass mom needs after a long day of "hey moms." On the second visit, I went early at 4PM and ordered carryout. AND a margarita while I waited! The margarita is simple, the perfect size and made with all fresh ingredients. It rivals more notable ones around town. This time, they had ALL the burnt ends and boy, were they worth the wait! I got a one meat platter with burnt ends, collards and Mac n cheese. My husband got a two meat platter with burnt ends, brisket, beans and slaw. We got KC and Texas sauces (they have 5 or 6 to choose from, all inspired by different BBQ regions in the US). Both platters came with cornbread which is the only thing that needs some work IMHO. It's small, dry and not worthy of the calories. But EVERYTHING else was soooo good! Fatty, juicy, flavorful meats. Balanced sauces. And delicious sides! The Mac, collards and beans get an A+, the slaw is a solid B. Service was great on both visits. Friendly, efficient and fast! One thing to note is they have an adorable patio. I've not eaten out there yet but it's well maintained with lots of flowers and good coverage from the sun. Might have to check it out on our third visit!
