Lively is the only word I can think of when I think about Hernando's Pizza Pub. I first thought this place was an Italian restaurant with a mexican twist but turns out its actually a real italian spot. The food was pretty good and its one of the top rated restaurants in winter park so that matches. Inside the pub had currency bills stuck all over the walls, gave a cool fun vibe and the restaurant itself was buzzing with people, conversations, and energy, making it feel very lively. The service was fast and nice. we ordered quite a few things, skipped the pizza and went with more classic stuff.. ravioli, lasagna, clam pasta, meatballs, spaghetti bolognese for the mains. The starters were excellent, especially the garlic bread, which came out warm with just the right amount of cheese and garlic. The minestrone soup was hearty and healthy, easily my second favorite dish!! The main dishes were solid too though the red sauce on the spaghetti + meatballs was very bland, no seasoning at all, like they just threw it on last second but the ravioli, lasagna and clam pasta were much better, more balanced and very tasty. To conclude, even though I loved the food, I really wish I could have taken the pizza over all the classic Italian pasta dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. Fantastic pizzas! This place totally delivers quality, fun combos of pizza! We enjoyed the Jerry's ( Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms) Sonoma (Chicken, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes), cheese and my favorite was the Pesto! Winter Park is changing. Hernando's is a bit of 'old' Winter Park; been around since Berthoud Pass Ski Area was still open (which I remember). There''s a reason there's a line out-the-door come the winter weekends. I think their pizza is awesome, I'm a fan. So good, I've been coming for quite some time now & have never tried their pasta. The service has always been fast & friendly, although they do get bogged-down during the dinner rush. My advice is don't be in too much of a hurry or expect to get in fast on the weekends @ 5 PM. Your patience will be rewarded. The inside has a "cool mountain pizza place that's been around since the 60s" vibe. Go and you won't be disappointed. I have been coming here for decades and always enjoy ordering food and having a beer at the bar while I wait. The bartenders are excellent with a good selection of beer, while the food is always delicious. This last trip, I was hungry from the drive up the mountain and a day on the slopes. Didn't want to make dinner and was by myself, so I ordered a Stomboli with pepperoni and sausage. My condo was up the road, so I walked there. Once again, everything was incredible. read more

I visited this pizza parlor with friends while out in Colorado for a trip. We went on a Sunday night, and the place was a bit crowded. Some of us waited at the bar, others in the front where we fit. The place was pretty cute though. It was 6 of us, so we decided to get a pizza and 2 orders of a dozen wings. Our waiter suggested that we get the cheese bread as well "because it was popular and really good", so we did. Everything was good, but I can say the cheese bread was a bit overrated. As far as prices, they were a bit much. I just remember the total coming out to be around $115 for a few items. Cool experience though. We had a fantastic dinner last night at Hernando's Pizza Pub. We had a large group, so we ordered a cheese stick appetizer, three pizzas, and an entrée of chicken Alfredo. Everyone in the group was delighted with the food, and the service was exceptional. Alexandra, our server, did an outstanding job on just her second day. She was prompt with our refills, quickly got us Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper, and was incredibly friendly the entire time while also serving other tables. If there were any complaints, it would be with the size of the tables, but the staff did their best to accommodate such a large group as we had and even then it was absolutely worth it to squeeze in a little tighter for such great pizza! read more

Myself and my family have been coming to Hernando's Pizza for over 30 years during spring break and we've brought in excess of over 300 people to stay at our cabin and experience what we have called a staple of Winter Park. In all the years which are 30+, I've only had two instances where I was disappointed. One time was about five years ago when the food came out well overdone, slightly burnt, and I sent it back and tonight. After ordering my usual pizza, my million dollar pizza, which is a 14 inch whole wheat, thin crust pizza. My toppings are pepperoni, sausage, and bacon, along with jalapeño, red pepper, red onion, green pepper, roasted garlic x 2, and fresh basil with Parmesan on top. I have ordered pizza this way for over 30 years and I've only been disappointed once. When I received the pizza tonight, it was so salty that I couldn't eat more than one piece of the pizza. I had been snow skiing all day long so I was incredibly hungry. I asked for the manager he came out and I asked him to take the pizza back and cut a area that I had not eaten yet and tell me what was wrong with this and he told me that he would not charge me for the pizza and I said that's fine. I'd still like to know what happened to this pizza. We waited for over 20 minutes and my guest had gotten done and they were completely full and again I was starving because I hadn't eaten all day long. The server brought out the tab and I ask where was the charge for my pizza she explained to me there was no charge. That's fine, but I'm still hungry and I want to eat something so I asked her to get the manager. He made the excuse that it was probably in the crust of the whole wheat, thin crust bread. I explained to him that if that's the case then a different crust could be used to make my pizza that I can actually eat and have a ok experience. He said no it was getting too late and he was just not gonna charge me for my pizza. So guess I was going to have to go home and fix myself something to eat since he wasn't willing to feed me. On a sidenote, my daughter had to send her food back as it was supposed to be a chicken Alfredo and it came out with red sauce, which I don't understand how you messed that up. Our two other guests food tonight came out OK, but it was all slightly over done and the crust was not enjoyable with honey. At that moment, I started looking around the restaurant very disappointed and realized there wasn't a single person working there that I remembered in the last 30 years. In my experience, there's always been 4 to 5 people their year after year that are friendly faces from the past year and always there happy to see You. I guess Hernando's pizza has been sold to a company or corporation and turning a profit is more important than good customer service and a good product. Going forward I will probably take my guest somewhere else maybe Grand Lake as they have a good pizza place over there from what I'm told. Restaurants who have years of service and amazing reputation often buried themselves in a shallow grave because they forget one very important thing, make the customer happy. Whether it is the original ownership or they have sold, they have to maintain the Legacy. Guest beware you may not be getting the same Hernando's pizza that you're used to getting. Wow! My friend from CO recommended this place and it has steadily provided for every winter park visit I've been on! The drinks are bomb - although I would recommend avoiding the bramble. The rest are great, and the beer and wine options are more than you need at a pizza place! They have great gluten free options too - gf pizza crust, and two gf beers plus a cider. Our waitress Sarah H was the best waitress in the entire town honestly! This was the best place to come for St Paddy's day and I can't wait to come back next time I'm in town! read more

We were in town for a couple of days and we wanted to get some pizza. We got a recommendation from a guy selling some nice rings near the amphitheater in town. We drove up to Hernando's and there was already a crowd formed outside waiting for them to open at 5pm...their website says "Life's too short to eat bad pizza", so I took that and the line as good signs. We walked in went to place the order at the bar; there is plenty of seating and would've loved to dine in but half our party was at the house....we order plain cheese, the Column 1(meat lovers) and Bar-B-Que. ran us under $80 for the 3 pies, and they made them from scratch so it took about 15-17 minutes. The Column 1 was inhaled in no time; and the cheese pizza was gone right after; the party ran through half the BBQ pizza and then we called it. They give you honey for the pizza crust and plenty of crushed red pepper flakes and cheese to go. Pies were really really good, even my son inhaled his crust. The have a great patio space that would be perfect to enjoy a slice and a cold . Great pizza, friendly staff, nostalgic decor and great seating space inside and out. After a long day of fishing/skiing, we chose Hernando's for dinner. I was impressed that our group of 5 was seated immediately, considering we came during the weekend dinner rush. The staff was SUPER friendly, service was excellent, and the pizza was the best Colorado-style pizza I've had. Dare I say it was better than Beau Jo's! Their crust to topping ratio is much more balanced IMO, and obviously have honey to dip your crust in. I highly recommend the "pesto pizza." It had great flavor, and wasn't too rich.
