We got a phone from a third party vendor (Tar@%*) of Verizon's down the street from this store. The phone wouldn't maintain a battery charge so I called and tried to get information about the phone and if we had purchased an extended warranty since it had been just over a year since purchase. The best the person on the phone could say was to call the manufacturer and ask them for help. UGH! Just kill me slowly with a butter knife why don't ya! Doing that would be extremely painful and an even bigger waste of time. That's why I went to the place I bought the darn thing in the first place! Thought you'd be sympathetic to a customer's needs! Enter Verizon, with the nation's largest 4G network! I walked in with two of my three offspring and was immediately greeted by Will. I mentioned the problem with the phone not holding a charge and he jumped into action like the superhero he is. He got our account info, asked if there was any water damage and what we had tried to do to fix it ourselves. Since the phone was going to be a hand-me-down to my daughter, he looked at her and said, "Even hand-me-downs should be nice and shiny". He mentioned he could offer a replacement via warranty! I didn't mention that it was just over a year old since we bought the phone and typically warranties expire at that time unless you specifically buy and extended warranty. That's what I was trying to do with the store we bought the phone from the first place, to see if I had one. The person I spoke to just said, "check the receipt". No sh*% Sherlock! I could easily do that, but being that our family just isn't that organized to keep that kind of documentation, I thought I'd go to the source. Most places would have record of what was purchased, especially major purchases. Anyway, back to Will at Verizon... So he types stuff into his tablet (think they're using iPads) and looking at our account was trying to ascertain what could be done for us. We talked about our situation with the phones and all of a sudden, he presents the tablet in front of me saying, "sign here". During our conversation, he had looked at our account, decided what could be done and set us up with a new / pre-owned phone. The exact same model we had originally had. Such prompt efficient service without the need to try to sell me something. That's what I'm talk'n about! Fast, painless and we walked out as owners of a new phone. Totally works for me! I needed some help finding the right tools for my business recently so I figure just pop-in the store and talk to a real person instead of going through the arduous hassle of actually doing my own research, as the kids say, ain't nobody got time for that. I believe the date was December 14th and it was raining cats and dogs, the freeways were a mess and I'm surprised any of the staff showed up because driving was quite dangerous. The gentleman that assisted me with my purchases and plan could not have been more pleasant to speak with and he was very knowledgable through-out all the products I inquired about. I feel terrible because I did my best to remember his name and I'm thinking Arthur? I could be way off with the name, but if you go into the store and need help, look for tallish, younger man with glasses of possibly asian heritage. I came in store and saw it was not very busy at all. The greeting lady finally approached me and check me in after waiting for 5 minutes in the front. This was a new, extremely unfriendly young woman with a terrible attitude. She told me no one could help me today and I would have to come back in four days to get service. I could see employees sitting around, not working with other customers. She confronted me disrespectfully that no one can help me again and when would I like an appointment? Very rudely she walked away and I stood there to observed the situation to make sure I was seeing it correctly. I hope she gets fired soon! read more

Eddie is useless. I had gotten a trade-in and rebate setup with a manager in the store at an earlier visit, but when things went wrong, I came back in. Eddie wouldn't even talk to me - just told me I had to call the main Verizon number. I called twice but the phone system automatically transfers me to chat so I never speak to a person. I have raised this up 3 different times on chat. Each person has told me charges will be removed yet charges are never removed. I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to fix this issue. I'm done with Verizon. Well my experience has been awesome, hands down the best since all my other carriers of decades. Lauren has helped me by looking thoroughly at my all needs as a business and has outfitted us perfectly, with the devices and plans that work best. Turns out that I'm currently saving tons on my monthly bill AND getting the renowned coverage of Verizon. She has ported and added over six lines within the month and everything has gone seamlessly. Not only that, she has provided me her direct contact info so that we can get everything lined up beforehand, saving me HOURS that would otherwise been spent at the store. Worst store ever... first ordered a replacement phone, waited 5 days... replacement was in worst condition than mine... salesperson tried to say I messed it up... then tried to sell me a new phone. Came in today to return a charger cord. Apparently the managers duties is only that as of that as a hostess... checks you in, then ignores you. I've been waiting 10 minutes just to return a cord that I guess she's not qualified to handle. Maybe should stop playing with the Google Jone and learn how to do an exchange. read more

UNETHICAL business practices! I was on the mainland visiting my daughter and had to get her a new phone as she dropped hers. We went into the Encinitas Verizon store last Saturday. The phone they sold us was not new, but we paid full price for a brand new one! We purchased the iPhone XR. For that amount of money, we should have received a new one but instead they sold us a phone that had something jammed in one of its ports. We didn't notice it until my daughter needed to use it today. When she went back to the store to exchange it, Michael, the salesperson she dealt with today, told her to go to the Apple store as it wasn't their concern anymore! Are you kidding me? It's not their concern? They sell us a used phone purporting that it is new and they have the nerve to pass it off back to Apple as a problem? Unbelievable! It wasn't Michael's fault, just that store. Whatever you do, do not do business with this store! We've had problems in the past with them selling us phones that were supposedly new and then finding out they weren't. I'm not sure if it is the business practice of the store or if it's shady sales people, but either way the store has a very bad reputation for horrible customer service as well as shady deals. We are no exception with our experience. It's unbelievable they don't stand by their customers but apparently they don't care because they think they get enough business and the sales people are making enough money because it's such a crowded store. We are going to run this up the chain and complain to as many people as possible and let as many people know about this store so they don't get jipped and cheated out of their money. Make sure you check your phone before you leave and make sure all ports are clear. Why would you ever look? You assume the sales people are honest and selling you a bona fide new piece of equipment. Not until you need to use your phone and the ports do you check. Make sure the phone is new as well. They often pass off refurbished phones as new. You should always have a new phone when you first purchase. Sometimes when you are exchanging a phone it is refurbished but when you're paying full price up front it should be brand new! I seriously don't know why we stepped foot in this store we should know better as it's the worst and has never changed in the years that we've been coming here which is over 10 years! We're letting everybody in Encinitas know and anyone else who will listen not only here on Yelp but on Facebook Twitter Instagram Snapchat you name it! was given the Verizon box for internet and they said it would be 25 dollars monthly, DO NOT GET THE VERIZON INTERNET! ITS WAY MORE THAN 25 DOLLARS! they tell you its 25 dollars but its a different story on the bill it will be 68.83 a month, and also a service charge? what ever that means, they promised me it was 25 dollars a month, phone deals for 50 dollars each line unlimited for a family , yet the cell bills say 80.00 per line! I have been through many reps trying to fix this, I will be looking for a new cell phone and internet provider, they are dishonest what they say to you in the store, then the bill is shocking when you get it read more

Well, of course my cell phone died as soon as i made the move to Carlsbad. So I dragged myself over to the Encinitas Verizon store to get a new Tour. Wrong. They didn't have the Tour so I got a Bold. Hope it doesn't have the problems I've read about. :( Needed a phone right away, so whatever. The people here seemed nice but everything takes so long. Anyway, Eva was the one who helped me and she was very very sweet and quite knowledgeable, She had to ask a few questions of another employee, but in about 1/2 hr. (and $200) I was up and running She asked me if I wanted to get Verizon wireless phone. At first I said no, but then remembered that my Time Warner phone is justnot working and it's complicated, blah blah blah. Eva told me I just had to plug in the modem box and all phones would work around the house. I was feeling cranky and told her that if I had any trouble, I was bringing it right back. She agreed, but told me everyone who gets the wireless phone is realy happy with it Well,so far so good. Buh bye Time Warner telephone. Eva gave me a temporary number (isn't that cool) so I could check it out, but now i'm gonna call her and tell her to sign me up with my regular home number. Not sure why all the bad reviews. I admit I hate paying for cell phone and can't understand why phones are more than laptops and the cost of service for how little we use it! I broke my phone and my son broke his. I bought two used iphones and came in with those and my other son's iphone 5. I was waterfalling the 5 to the younger son and trying to get my and my older son's phones working. I needed a sim card and some help and Arthur was very helpful and patient. I had been trying to figure out what to do about the broken phones for a while and had been in a couple of times in the past two months as well as back in February when I bought one of the phones I broke.. I have had to wait to get help, but I have always had knowledgeable and patient employees. I do wish they could help with billing issues in the store, had lower end options, certified reused, service to fix phones, etc.. but I feel those are issues with Verizon and not the employees here. read more

Poor service a cross the board. Bought a new Apple XS yesterday and purchased the $140 accessory bundle. The purchase took 2 hours because the Assurian (Verizon's Insurance Carrier)replacement phone didn't have an ID number and they spent a full hour trying to figure it out. Finally got home and realized they didn't put the Powerstation 6000 in the bag. Went back this evening and was told they'd have to talk to the salesman and that won't be until Thursday. The manager explained they'd have to investigate to see what happened. I already told him what happened. Check your inventory and you'll have an extra. Simply a poor customer experience. Skip Verizon and go directly to Apple. Service and experience is so much better. If you have to deal with Verizon, do it through the website. It's faster and you'll find better deals than in the store. And I still don't have the Powerstation charger. read more

Very bad experience. Brought in 2 phones so I could add my son to the account. Person was helping me but asked for photo ID so he could add a sim card to the second phone. Forgot my wallet, went home, came back and was told by a different person that "we do not do that here." A heavy-ish latino with a goutee kept saying "we do not do that here" even though I was right in the middle of it with the other CSR setting up a second phone so I could add my son to the account. This was today on March 15th at around 4 PM. So, since I can't add the new phone and set up my son with the old phone, what do I do? Where do I go? If I can't do it at the store, where do I go? Why do they even have a store if they don't permit a long time customer to add another person & phone to an existing account? WTH? So, after 15-20 years with Verizon, I have to now look for another carrier. This makes no sense. Either they have someone who is completely incompetent greeting customers or they are trying to drive away customers. I keep seeing ads for PureTalk. Guess I'll try them, or someone else out. Have gone here for past 10+ years for our phones and have always had great service. We have used Jigme since 2014, he is awesome. Can't believe the bad reviews and just wanted to give our compliments to this store who has always treated us right and given us new and quality equipment. The sealed boxes are opened in the store with our brand new equipment inside. The only complaint I have is that Verizon's fees are just too high, but they are the only one that gives us good coverage at home since we live against a canyon. Never have any issues with them, just wish the pricing was lower but that has nothing to do with this store. Keep it up guys - you are great. read more

A supremely kind salesman, Shownre Smith, greeted me with a smile and was more than happy to assist me with a cracked Zagg iPhone Shield. He expertly removed the old InvisibleShield; cleaned and prepped the surface; and replaced the shield in less than 5 minutes. He did this with the utmost professionalism and positivity. This review is specifically for Gabriel aka Jabrail aka Gaby (he goes by many names). Walking into Verizon has always been so daunting for me because of all the different plans, phones, and decisions that have to be made. On top of all of that, I can guarantee that every time I've gone into any Verizon store, there has been some sort of issue that has caused me to stay there much longer than I'd want to be there. My husband and I were helped by Gabriel, who immediately exuded kindness and excitement for us. Newly married? Congrats! Getting a new phone plan together? Awesome! He was always so positive and did everything at lightning speed. When I had to transfer my line from my existing one and it was going to take 24 hours, he made sure to give us his card so that we could text him for anything we needed during that wait time. We ended up coming back that same night 15 minutes before his shift was over because the transfer was completed ways before the 24 hours, and he stayed later to help us out, always with a smile on his face. Nothing was ever too complicated, too cumbersome for him. He deserves a serious pat on the back for his customer service. After all was said and done, we all hugged it out and called it a night. WARNING TO ALL TECH CHALLENGED CUSTOMERS: VERIZON HAS A NEW POLICY. Transfer of data from your old phone to your new and/or upgraded phone is no longer included in their store services. I was informed today that this policy took effect 3 months ago. For those of us who have been long time customers, this will come as a surprise since your last visit for an upgrade. While it wasn't "that" difficult, for those of us who are used to leaving the store with our contacts and other data on our sparkling new phone, forget it. You need to go home, read online and then proceed. So be forewarned. Might as well buy it online. The sales people really do not earn their commission any more. The Manager of the Encinitas store was very rude when he responded to my questions about why the new policy wasn't posted online, he said "well, it's not posted that we DO transfer data either." That snarky remark was unnecessary. If we have to do this at home, please demonstrate the process. It's not just as simple as connecting your old phone to the new one. I For us, the technically challenged, it's intimidating! p.s. Best Buy INCLUDES data transfer in their price. I love you Verizon, but you can do better. read more

Our experience was amazing, he helped not only update my plan, but explain how my bill would work. I will never have to worry about getting overage charges thanks to his help. He even set my Verizon app up, replaced my glass screen flawlessly AND registered me for the lifetime warranty of the protector. I could go on with how pleased I was! What good is Ultra Wide Band 5 G is you get your speeds throttled. As a business person I was induced to pay $5 per month for fast downloads. Starting recently all Ultra Wide Band is being throttled. I use my 5G only for business related activities and listening to music while I work. The throttling is so bad I can barely keep two apps doing research (Safari and Apple Music) running without one of them dropping out. I am not downloading big video file, simply trying to do do my work. Verizon this is total BS and you should invest in your customers and keep our country running. Invest in your infrastructure and quit lying about you vaunted 5G! read more

Wow. Really bummed at my experience at this store just now. I've been a Verizon customer for 17 years (7 lines), and I've been coming to this store for almost that entire time. Bought literally dozens of phones here for my family, and until today the service has been exemplary - the staff has spent time to make sure phones are programmed, numbers transferred if needed, questions answered. Today I basically was told by the store manager that if I wanted assistance switching phones I could go do it myself somewhere else, go to an Apple store, or just be happy to have phones wiped out and restarted, losing photos, texts, etc. it's been a long, long time since I felt as dismissed as I was just treated. Long wait times and staff who aren't terribly helpful made shopping here a disappointment. I purchased a new phone, then they sent me home to transfer all my apps, contacts and files myself, forgetting to tell me the phone would need a software update before I could do anything. They also failed to activate the phone, so my calls continued to go to my old phone until I want back to get the new phone activated. I will look for a different store next time, as the team in this store fell short in delivering acceptable service. read more

I came to this location over the busy Thanksgiving weekend and was totally impressed by the amazing service from Steven Han! Never before in Verizon have I been so quickly and smoothly educated about my choices. Steven was excellent and I felt totally confident that I was making the right decisions and saving the most money that I could. He even helped me the next day and the following Tuesday as one of my phones that I was trading in had an issue. He called customer service and totally took care of everything for me.
