I had a gift card I needed to use because it was expiring soon and I needed a specific cable for my phone. Parking was very easy. It's a big lot. I walked in and was greeted immediately. I found the apple section grabbed my cable and proceeded to the front of the store. I waited a minute as all the cashiers were busy, and a man came from the side and opened up a new register for me. He asked for my number to input into the computer to pull up my account. I gave him my number and asked him to use the gift certificate on my account to pay for it. This store has become notorious in the SD area for declining online returns. BestBuy policy states that online purchases may be returned in store. The manager here is very corrupt and will coach the employees to lie to customers that they can't take the return so they won't have the hit on their daily metrics. I spoke with Best Buy chat, and they assured me the store would take it. The manager said I had to send it back through bestbuy.com. I told them I wasn't leaving without my refund or the correct product I paid for. What kind of place promotes not taking care of the customer and promoting their geeks' squad, not function checking the products they are going to sell. I showed him the chat, and he said he didn't know why chat was lying to me. I stood at the counter for 30 minutes, and he finally went to the office and came back 20 minutes later. 1-Star Review - Geek Squad Encinitas (Nov. 14, around 12 PM) I spend tens of thousands of dollars a year at Best Buy Encinitas, and today I was treated with a level of disrespect I've never seen at this store. I came in with a damaged iPad and asked a newer Geek Squad agent named Joey to verify my warranty and TotalTech coverage before I drove to Oceanside. His exact words were: "That's an Apple product. We don't do Apple here. You'll have to go to Oceanside." I asked him to look up my warranty. He said: "I'm unable to look you up. I'm unable to verify anything." I asked specifically about my TotalTech membership. His response: "No, I'm unable to do that." He didn't even attempt to look up my account. Instead, he tried to send me on a two-hour round-trip for information he could have checked in seconds. When I politely asked him again to confirm before I wasted my time, he cut me off and said: "We're going in circles. I'm done with you." I remained calm and professional throughout. His attitude was shockingly rude and completely out of line. I ordered a laptop on line and marked my order for an in store pick up. Later, I received and email from Best Buy letting me know my computer was ready for pick up and gave me the bar code to present. When I got to the customer service desk there was only one guy working on a customer's computer. He asked if I had an appointment which I did not because I never received instructions to make an appointment. I waited around for the better part of 30 minutes but no other employee showed up. I asked if someone else could help me and was told the other customer service person was using the bathroom over at Stater Bros. I would recommend this location. I purchased a TV that later had manufacture issues. The TV was replaced without a hassle. The service people are very helpful and the crew that came to my home were very experienced, professional, and did a great job. There's a bit of a wait for in-home service, but I'm happy with the Best Buy team. Not a ton of selection on the floor but definitely enough items to find something that you need or have one of the store. Because of that, I always make an effort to be patient and kind -- I'm not the type to make anyone's day harder. That said, I had a truly frustrating experience at the Encinitas Best Buy. I ordered a TV online that unfortunately arrived damaged -- a bummer, but these things happen. I took it to the Encinitas store to return it, only to be told they don't do online returns and that I'd need to call customer service, especially for damaged items. That felt odd, but I called customer service anyway. Customer service assured me I could return it in-store and just needed to show my barcode. So I came back (carrying a 50-inch TV) and an employee said he could help. But then the manager came over and told me they would not accept the return and to call customer service again. I explained that customer service had specifically told me to return it in-store, and he still refused -- insisting no Best Buy would take an online damaged return and that it was up to the manager's discretion. I calmly asked what I should do if customer service again directed me to come back, and he flatly said he still wouldn't take it. This all happened in front of other customers, and as a young woman, his tone and demeanor made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, disrespected, and honestly unsafe. I even said, "Sir, I'm really not trying to cause a scene; I'm just trying to understand why you won't take the return." Again, I worked in retail, I fully understand sales of the day and making LY (this was literally only a $200 TV). Feeling defeated, I decided to try another store -- Carmel Mountain Best Buy -- and what a difference. The manager, Chris S, was kind, professional, and understanding. He processed the return without issue and even confirmed that there's no such policy preventing stores from taking online damaged returns. To my Encinitas friends -- skip that location. Chris and Ryan were my onsite technicians and they couldn't have been any nicer, thorough and diligent about getting the TV and soundbar exactly where we wanted it to go. We were given help bubble wrapping it for safe transport, instructions on setting it up and they answered our questions. Everyone we interacted with was nice and friendly. Tip: If you are getting an appliance that is going to live in a garage, dark laundry room, or anywhere else that a scratch or bump on it won't even be visible (or you won't care that it doesn't look perfect) check out on their website, under the 'Get it home & working' heading to see if there is an open box option. I bought a Sony TV and paid for the Geek Squad to install it. Paid $250 for installation and $130 to have the bracket bought there installed. On the day it was scheduled to be delivered and installed the installer called and said he had the wrong bracket. I rescheduled wanting the swing bracket I paid for. Best Buy scheduled 2 appointments: 1 to delivery the TV and 1 to install. The installers were contractors who proceeded to tell me the bracket I bought wouldn't fit (?) but he had one that would. He sold me his..... I returned the unused bracket to Best Buy and explained what happened. When the clerk did the return he only refunded $115 instead of the purchase price of $199. He got his manager involved for an explanation. She couldn't be bothered dealing with me with the glib answer of it was a bundled deal where delivery was waved but now that you're breaking the bundle, you're paying for transportation. Best Buy screwed up with not putting the right bracket on the truck causing me an inconvenience and now a delivery charge. They sent a contractor and not a Geek Squad rep that I paid for.... Lousy customer service from the manager and over charging the customer. The whole bundling nonsense wasn't explained during the purchase process.... read more

This was the worst purchase experience I have ever had! Best Buy promised delivery of a stove by Dec 10th, Dec 13, and Dec 18th. They never contacted us that the delivery was NOT coming even after they confirmed the day before that the delivery was scheduled. Finally we canceled purchased, went across the street to Home Depot and purchased the same Stove. It arrived two days later and is installed and working. The best part of working with HD was the clear communication of delivery schedule. The day before they gave us a four hour window. The day of they gave us a two hour window. Then "we are two stops away", Then, " arriving in 30 minutes." My previous purchase at BB, I walked out of the store. Waiting in line to buy, watching the cashiers talk about living in Hawaii. They said" if they knew I was in a hurry, they would have helped me sooner" What? It was only a $150 purchase so I went to Costco and got it for $75. This place has to be close to going out of business. Needed to have a security system installed in my home and I thought I could place the order over the phone and schedule installation with geek squad. I made two attempts to call the store but instead was transferred to a call center in India. Neither person I was connected to could understand what I was asking for. I decided to just go to the Encinitas store the next day. When I mentioned to the first salesperson that I wasn't able to contact the store directly he said they've had a lot of complaints about that and that they no longer have a phone system in their store. No way to actually contact the store! That should have been a red flag for me. But the salesperson was incredibly friendly and helpful and he then had me work with Daniel D, who was also not only very friendly, but clearly had extensive knowledge about the security systems, so I placed an order. I was given an arrival time for the following Wednesday between 7am-7pm but told that I would receive a call the day before with a smaller time window. When I didn't hear anything the day before I cancelled an early morning plan I had just to be safe. The morning of installation I received a message that they would arrive between 12-4. By noon I received an email that my appointment was not scheduled, with no further explanation. So then I called the geek squad number to find out the reason it was no longer on the schedule, and you guessed it - I was connected to another call center! When I asked why I was no longer on the schedule she just replied it's delayed. But why? Again, it's delayed was her only response. After that I just requested a full refund. I will definitely not be doing business with Best Buy again. Even though there are lots of reviews here stating they received poor in-store customer service, I want to be clear that the two gentlemen I spoke to were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and truly seemed to want to help. My beef is with the store, not them. I hope that when Best Buy tanks, and it seems to be inevitable, these two young men go on to be successful in whatever careers they choose. As an online seller and buyer I am always a bit concerned about going into a store such as this. BUT was in area and needed a new dash cell holder for my new(er) kia sportage. I was lucky to be helped by the young woman in the Cell Phone department. Not only does she have a sparkling down to earth personality she truly asked the right questions about what my needs were and showed me a pop socket phone holder. Not only did she show them to me BUT she explained them to me and how they worked. No digs to the "geek guys" but usually they just point and walk away. My daughter and I have joked because she usually gets good service from the males when she wears a low cut shirt. Its super refreshing to find a young female salesperson who has a great attitude. If Yelp would let me leave 0 stars I would! I have NEVER purchased anything from Best Buy and after what happened to me, I NEVER will again. Let me explain...... First I ordered a 65 in TCL QLED TV from Best Buy. It was delivered 2 days later and I thought 'Wow, what great service'. Then the nightmare began. I opened the box and it was extremely damaged. So, I call the Encinitas Store, and they tell me that I AGAIN HAVE to go into the store to arrange the pickup of another broken TV. I'm pissed. So, here it is Friday, Jan 17th, and I am back in the Encinitas Store, and they tell me the earliest they can schedule a pickup is the following Monday, and they actually have the audacity to ask if I want them to Deliver ANOTHER TV!!!! I said no, I just want my money back. They pick up the TV on Monday, and as of Wednesday, I still do not have my refund. So, I call the Encinitas Store once AGAIN, and I'm actually asked by the rep, Jenna, if they have picked up my TV because they don't see it in the system....I'm LIVID!!!! So, I asked to speak to her manager, Marco, and he then tells me that they can't find the TV!!!!! What the F!!!!????? Then after 30 minutes on hold, Marco tells me that they found the broken TV, and that his Manager will let him refund MY money back to my card immediately. Another 30 minutes passes, and guess what? No refund! Then he proceeds to try and blame this on my bank, which whom I work for, for the refund not showing up. (Which is absolute Bullsh*t). I have never in my life experienced such INCOMPETENCE in customer service! To this very hour, I still have not received my money back, and I honestly don't understand how any of those people have jobs. I am not a vindictive person. This is an honest review, and it's a shame. Thursday, January 23rd.....3 days after they picked up my broken TV and still no refund..... I've now been on hold an hour with a department called the "special forces" of Best Buy so they can figure out the hard task of refunding money back to a customer they delivered 2 broken TV's to! ......
