Our 10 year old water heater failed this past Saturday night. I sent Dave a text on Sunday (his day off) and he promptly provided the needed instructions that stopped the substantial leaking. He came to our house the first thing on Monday morning and removed the old water heater, purchased a new water heater and dropped it off. He was back the early the next day and installed the new unit. We've been using Dave's services for the past 20 years. Over that time he has repaired an old dryer (on multiple occasions), installed faucets for all of our sinks, installed a kitchen sink, installed lighting fixtures, and an oven hood, among other services and repairs. He is a consummate professional. His recommendations, assessments and estimates are dead-on and the quality of his work is top notch. And, most importantly, his rates are very, very reasonable. Beyond his quality work, he is, on a personal level, a genuine pleasure. Even though we generally see him when something has gone wrong, it's always great to see him and catch-up. Highly recommended both personally and professionally!! read more

Over the past 10 plus years, I have been using David's services for various appliances (washer and dryer repair, water heater replacement, etc.). He has always done great work - very professional, reliable, knowledgeable and reasonable rates. Recently I was having a problem with my 3 year old washing machine. When I called David about the problem he went over the error codes and made suggestions on what I could do on my end to get the washer up and running without errors. I did as he suggested and the washer is now running smoothly. Many thanks David for your help and saving me a service call! read more

Oh no!! My oven dies a week before Thanksgiving. What's a girl to do? Well I called DJs Appliance and they came to my rescue. I called numerous people and Dave was the only one to call me back the same day. We made an appointment, he showed up on time, was pleasant, efficient and affordable. I could go on and on but really what else do you require in an appliance repairman? Thanksgiving saved. Thanks DJs!!!!!!! read more

A few months ago our dryer stopped getting hot. David came by and made the repair. He was friendly, highly skilled, and absolutely professional. No upselling or any shenanigans. Just straight forward, honest, local. David made a thorough inspection. Explained in as much detail as I wanted and then made the repair quickly and efficiently. Today, David came to fix the ice-maker that stopped working in our freezer. Just as before, he explained everything, replaced the faulty unit, cleaned everything up, and went on with his day. He is a pleasure to deal with. It is hard to imagine anyone giving this man anything less than five stars. Civil, great communicator, responds to texts and phone calls, does what he says, absolutely fair. I could not recommend him more highly. read more

Really wonderful service. Extremely polite, accommodating, fast and honest. I needed my dryer fixed ASAP, he gave me the possible outcomes and costs over the phone in the morning, and fixed my dryer for that price the same afternoon. I will recommend to friends & family. Thank you :) read more

So glad I called Dave. He was highly responsive, and did exactly what he said he would do - all at a very fair price. Glad I didn't try to fix this on my own. I can see why there are so many 5 star ratings for this great business - I'm adding another! (no prompting to do this from Dave). read more

I found myself in need of dishwasher repair a few days before New Years. I found David's card in a drawer and I had written "nice guy" on the back. It had been many years since I used him and honestly couldn't remember. So I trusted my gut and called for help. David couldn't have been nicer and since he was booked until next week, he gave me a quick fix tip over the phone and it worked! Not only did I save on a service call, but Dave was truly a nice guy! Thank you! I won't hesitate to use him again! read more

DJ is a legend. He walked me through the problems I was having with my washer to see if I could fix it myself. Once we diagnosed the problem he came out the next day and fixed what was broken. He actually used a part in the washer that wasn't being used so I didn't get charged for a 'new part' that we didn't need. I was out of town the day he fixed it but got a VM that said "All fixed, invoice on the washer, send a check, thanks for the service". I never saw the illusive DJ......a legend. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars for John, not only is he extemy honest and the best at what he does, but he's cool too! Gave him a call about a broken dryer and he was at our place within 15 minutes (we live nearby the office so don't expect him to be THAT quick). Within 5 minutes the dryer was fixed and he even gave us a discount since he was able to fix it so quickly. I used to sell home appliances and service packages and can attest to the fact that this business is an anomaly when it comes to price, speed and customer service. If you have any appliance problems, YOU MUST call DJ's. You will get excellent service at the fairest price. read more

Dave rocks once again. We just leave our garage in manual, and then lock the actual door to the house. He comes by and does his magic. Our washer wasn't spinning so he came by, and now we have a fixed dryer. Always good to have this guy in your back pocket!! highly recommend! read more

Dave has been my knight in shining armor for over 10 years! He has helped me out with so many problems with my home and as a single mom, I need all the help I can get! He's trust worthy, reliable, I can always count on him! Washers, dryers, broken pipes in my wall, faucet installation, shower repair- you name it- he's the one to call. I just leave my back door unlocked and when I come home the work is done. And he's careful to not let my cat out too!!! He has never disappointed me and I highly recommend him!!! read more

He lives up to every 5 star rating. Just diagnosed my dishwasher problem over the phone!! No charge and it's fixed. Highly recommend DJs!! read more

David was able to work me into his schedule the same day I called for a squeaky clothes dryer repair. He worked very efficiently, the dryer was repaired, and the price was very reasonable (plus: he accurately predicted what the problem was, and what it would cost to repair, on the phone before he came out). I get excited when I find great service like this...harder and harder to find here in San Diego. read more

David Chillak is honest, prompt, and a man of his word! I found him here on Yelp. I had torn my front load washer apart and called him. He came when he said he would. He looked at my opened up washer and then took out a filter. Sure enough, there was a clog. We cleared it, and washer was as good as new. He refused to charge me since he said I did most of the work (washer still plugging away...). Six months later my mother's washer stops working. He again showed up on time and fixed the washer. He stated that the part that was broken had previously been replaced. Sure enough, we had a receipt in the file. And D J's Appliance Service WAS HALF OF WHAT THE OTHER "HONEST DISCOUNT" REPAIR COMPANY CHARGED. Stop scrolling. You've just found your permanent repair guy. read more

Called to set up a service call for my stove. Dave to me to try a fix first & it worked! I was very impressed that he didn't try to just come over & charge me for something that I was able to do. I love that! read more

5 stars +++ DJ fixed my washer and dryer, took them apart and back together again in no time at all. He is professional, personable, and does quality work for a great price. Highly recommend his services to anyone. read more

Dave came out quick for a call regarding my 15 year old Whirlpool washer. I thought it was a goner. He accurately diagnosed the issue over the phone and came the next day, on time, and prepared to make the repair. In about 30 minutes, he was done. Excellent diagnoses and information on the issue and fast reliable service. Nice guy with all the facts. I highly recommend! read more

DJ was prompt and explained what needed to be done to connect my gas dryer and was very professional. Will definitely call him again.

Highly recommend DJs...super responsive and really wanted to understand the problem to ensure it was resolved properly! Pricing was very fair. Will use DJs and recommend DJ's to my friends read more

They were very professional and accommodating to me working nights and having to sleep during the day. Their prices were also very reasonable which helps- will use them again if need be! read more

Friendly, prompt, informative, fairly-priced, efficient...all you really want in a repair guy! Of course I was hoping for an under $100 repair bill but I just don't think they exist anymore. :( DJ is definitely competitively priced or better and I will and have recommended him to others. read more

Even though DJ doesn't service my brand of oven, he was nonetheless extremely helpful just talking me through the issue over the phone. I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air that is! I just put him in my contacts list so that I'll know who to call (or recommend) next time I have an appliance issue. Thank you DJ! We need more people like you out there! read more

David came over and couldn't find anything wrong with my dishwasher. He gave me a few maintenance tips and insisted on NOT being paid because he didn't perform any actual repair on my appliance. I was positively surprised. You can tell David is a honest guy, something I particularly favor. He will definitely be the first person I call if I ever have another problem with any appliance in my house. He will also be the person I recommend to friends and family should they be looking for an appliance repair guy. read more

DJ came quickly and on time to repair the oven that my landlord had insisted was not repairable. He accurately diagnosed the problem and had the part in his truck...the price was reasonable. He was polite and pleasant. I will call him again and will refer him to friends. As good as it gets! read more

Horrible experience. David, the owner couldn't come out same day to fix my dryer. He made me wait a day and then he didn't show up. I called him to see why he didn't show and he seemed to have completely forgotten. He only lives a mile from me but it took him another hour to get here. On the phone he quoted me a low price of $110 and a high price of $150. When he got here- before even looking at anything he told me it would be $250. He got very angry with me when I called him on the price change and said it was because my dryer was a newer model (its 10 years old). I did not have him do the work. My contractor was luckily at my home and heard the whole thing and told me that he was very happy I had decided not to use him. Stay away from this guy. I was very upset after he left as he was so angry and belligerent. I am happy I have security cameras everywhere! read more

Came to fix our dryer over the Christmas holiday. Responded quickly, showed up on time, and fixed the problem. He also gave a very good description of the problems and the fix. I recommend DJ's very highly. read more

I've been using Dave for his excellent services for several years. He is very honest and knowledgeable!! He explains things to me and made me feel comfortable and I don't feel like he out to over charge. His rates are extremely fair. I feel very lucky to have found him on Yelp. Best Appliance Service in San Diego, especially in Encinitas. read more

DJ was very nice, he did a great job and was respectful of my 22 year old dryer!

If you need an appliance serviced or fixed, this is the company to call. Dave has repaired appliances at several of my rental properties for many years. He just came to my residence today to look at my dishwasher which has not been running through the cycles properly. After running several of the cycles, he suspected that the control board was problematic. Instead of replacing the board right away, he suggested that I try unplugging the unit for a day and then plugging it in again to see if it reboots the board. He did not charge me anything for the visit. Amazing! If the board is faulty, he told me that he could put a refurbished board in so that the repair would be cost effective. Incredible customer service from this company. Highly recommend which is why I gave it 5 stars. read more

DJ was so helpful - he tried to work within my strict time frame and budget. He explained what the problem could be so I understood what was going on. We ended up deciding on a new appliance, but I appreciate his attentiveness and professionalism! read more

I depended on the Yelp reviews when I made an appointment for Dave to fix our dryer! If I could award him 6 Gold Stars I would!! Superb service and he definitely knew what he was talking about! Thanks Dave! read more

I am really happy I read all these reviews and choose Dave to fix my leaky fridge! He was very friendly, very quick and explained what he was doing so that if the problem ever occurred again I could take care of it myself! Excellent service I would absolutely call him again. read more

Look no further. I choose DJ's Appliance because of all the rave reviews and he STILL exceeded my expectations! He is professional, compassionate and took care of my problem 3 hours after I called him. Then I got his bill. NICE! I can't say enough good things about him. I'm suspicious of repair services but now can breathe a sigh of relief knowing I found the best of the best! read more

Great service. D.J. really knows his stuff. I've been using him for about 10-15 years. And he is fair to his customer.

DJ is fast, reliable and best of all HONEST. I had some tenants staying in my condo with a freezer full of food. They called and said the freezer wasn't working and the food was spoiling. DJ went over and repaired it within a few hours and saved the day. Thank you DJ!!!!!!!! read more

Dave just left. He fixed my washer. He gave me the inexpensive option and the pricier option and let me decide. I really appreciate not feeling like I am being taken advantage of. The washer was fixed and he was gone in 30 minutes. I will use him again if I need an appliance repaired. read more

Knowledgeable, efficient, thorough and reasonably priced. Fixed our dryer, then serviced the exhaust duct and washing machine filter .... on a Saturday! I honestly didn't think he charged enough. We settled on an extra $20 and a bag of avocados! I still got the best end of the deal. read more

The dryer made a loud BANG when I turned it on one day, then continued to bleat out a continuous whine. It was unusable. After calling Whirlpool service and getting an outrageous estimate just to diagnose the issue, I called Dave. He came by the same day, quickly diagnosed the cracked blower fan, and even found the loose screw that probably caused the crack. Dave gave me the option of repairing or replacing the fan, and I asked him to try the repair first. He repaired it with a combination of gluey products, and the dryer has been working perfectly ever since. Pleasant, prompt service, reasonable price, skillful diagnosis and repair: 5 stars! read more

David Chiliak is awesome! Courteous, knowledgeable, very efficient. He helped me out of a big washer bind I was in! What a blessing, so afraid of repair men especially from Sears due to $$$. ( Always way more expensive then what they quote - and usually suggest replacing your appliance). Dave thanks again! So happy you could quickly fix my washer. I will recommend DJ appliance to my friends! read more

This is the worst service provider company. They do not have people to technician to come for appointment. They will call you to schedule the service, they will call you day before schedule appointment to confirm the appointment; looks very professional. BUT...on the day of service they will call you to say they can't come and will call you back with another schedule. This happened twice with me in one week. I stayed home to get the service done but NO SHOW. It is a big BOGUS COMPANY who does even have resources to meet their commitment. read more
