We reserved a truck to pick up at this location they changed it when I called literally 4 times no one answered so I went in and the owner told me no guarantee ti pick up at this location. Okay so I go to the Fairfield location which was literally a junk yard I ask the security guard where to go he points to a truck so we go there an old man from a motorhome comes out. I had a storage unit since August 2022 until today. It came in handy when I was moving from Sac to Vac. :) I never had issues here, only because I never had to need to communicate with staff. I check in, access my storage unit, check out on a keypad and leave. The part of the building my unit was in was always blazing hot! Summer, Spring, Fall, and Winter. Not sure how, when it's supposed to be climate controlled. Luckily, I kept no electronics in there. I finally (over a 2 day period) got the last of my items out of storage. I swept it out, removed my lock, took photos (all this to avoid a cleaning and lock cutting fee). I went home to start the move out process on the U-Haul website. After multiple times trying, I kept getting an error message. Long story short, I called the store for assistance and was placed on a long hold;called customer service, they couldn't help me with move out and transferred me to the store. The gentleman after me explaining the issue with the website, placed me on hold to check my unit (to ensure it was in fact clean and lock removed), came back and completed the move out process over the phone. I didn't have to come back to the facility (it was already over 100 degrees outside at this point)! Thank goodness! I received my email confirming the move out immediately! If it wasn't for the employee helping me over the phone, they were for sure getting 2 stars. The move out process was such a frustrating headache of a process that it didn't need to be. Hate to leave a negative but man the fellas in this store on 11/17/2025 were absolutely horrible with service. I came in simply for some boxes, a transaction that should've taken maybe 30 seconds and had to wait nearly an hour and to top it off I didn't even get the boxes!!! I called U-Haul from my residence, I spoke to Anthony, and I decided to drive in with my propane tank, 5 gallon tank, I arrived at U-Haul, met Anthony, he asked me to pull my vehicle up to where he can prop up the propane tank, and fill it. I paid for it there at the fill station. It came to appro $18.50 - not bad at all ! $4.25 per gal. Anthony was awesome !! My wait time was appro 2 min - if that ! Thanks Anthony! read more

We went online and entered our vehicle details and selected our service and parts needed. We made the appointment and prepaid online to have a trailer hitch installed on our Honda Element. My husband drove 30 minutes to the appointment and dropped the car off and went for a walk. They call him to tell him they dint have the part...sorry. So I was refunded. But not for the wasted time and gas and poor service. If you offer a service and run a business it's pretty basic to only book for the parts and services you can offer and call immediately if there's a problem. They didn't offer a future appointment or to order the part. Just a sorry we didn't have it. Poor service and bad business. We needed it to pull a trailer and could have booked elsewhere and saved all the hassle. Bummer. read more

Reserved a truck for pick up Saturday at 9am. Upon pick up we were told the precious renters were supposed to drop it off by 9am and hadn't yet. First issue, why would they rent a truck back to back like that?! There were no other trucks to use. It's a high of 103 today, so we planned on moving 9-1pm, now it's 11:40 and we still don't have a truck. I can understand a renter might be late, but that's why you don't rent them back to back. This review is only for their propane refill services. With that said, I was able to get my 2 bottles of propane filled within 10 minutes of pulling up my car. The last time I went to a U-Haul to get service....well I never actually got any service despite pressing the stupid help button that served no purpose that day. This place was much much better. Within 10 seconds of hitting the button, a friendly gentleman greeted me and was right on his way hooking up the pipes to fill 'er up. I brought 2 bottles in to help stockpile the fuel I'm going to need for future BBQ'ing and both filled up for a total of 8.5 gallons and a charge of $29.19 to my credit card. There aren't many places in this area, or most areas for that matter, where you can fill up your propane tanks. I'm able to save $5-6 a bottle by coming here as opposed to doing a silly exchange. The only time you'll find me doing an exchange anywhere else is to trade in my expired tanks (yes, they do expire because the liquid in LP can cause rust on the interior of the bottles affecting their longevity and quality). So do yourself a favor and come here to get your propane tanks filled at reasonable cost and minimal wait times (at least around 5pm on a Saturday afternoon)! read more

I needed a new install done on my vehicle to be able to pick up a trailer later today elsewhere and had been givin the run around and had spent a couple hundred having parts overnighted to me. If I couldn't get it done today I was going to end up leaving all my stuff behind to move out of state. I explained the situation and not only did he fit me in, he went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make my vehicle able to tow. Worst place to store your things! It's overpriced for what you get first off. There are barely any parking spaces for people to access their storage units, and last time when I went there was no available spots so I had to park in their trailer parking, I was immediately spoken to by an employee telling me I can't park there. When I asked "Where should I park to access my storage unit?" He fumbled with it and eventually let me park. Not to mention the horror stories other previous customers will tell you. Apparently if you're 2 weeks late on payment they put a $50 lien on your storage, deny you access and your stuff becomes their property. I get that people need to pay their bills but that is wayyyy too fast to take someone's property. Store your stuff elsewhere! read more

We reserved a truck two weeks in advance at this location. We received a truck rental guaranteed available email. Two days before we were to pick up the truck this location called and said they overbooked and would not have our guaranteed truck and refused to do anything to fix it. We had to call U-Haul corporate and they were able to get us a truck however it was 25 miles away from the original location, not exactly an ideal addition to a moving day. We then had to go in in person to this store to pick up boxes only to be completely ignored. There were four employees in the store none of them wearing masks and another customer came in that they helped right away that was also not wearing a mask. We live in California masks are a state mandate not just a sign on the door saying wear them you are actually supposed to have them on your face. I will be avoiding this U-Haul from now on. read more

They assured me it was now ordered coming from Concord and would be onsite by Friday They call Thursday to tell me nothing is being shipped now until January 7th I waited until the 20th and numerous call to the location which no one answers and only goes to answering service Answering Service sends messages for someone to call me and I get no calls Drive to location and got nothing but excuses Even got a remark about how I could go buy the parts and come back. We rented a motorcycle trailer from this U-Haul in Vacaville, CA on 3/19/21. Going round trip from Vacaville to Littleton, Colorado. We arrived early AM to pick up. My husband went inside to do the paperwork, then came out to hook up the trailer to our Motorhome. "Keyona", an employee, came outside to make sure that all was good. It was such a nice gesture, as she was was knowledgable, helpful and friendly. We appreciated her and it was obvious that she enjoys her job. Nice interaction with this business. (September 2, 2020)I have been doing business with this uhaul for 17 years(since I moved to vacaville). Aside from the extremely long wait times, I haven't had a problem till now. I payed like $37.95 down to rent the van and would have to pay $.69 per mile over 20 miles. I drove 52 miles, so that is roughly $24.25 Bringing my total to $64.20. When I returned my cargo van, I told them I wanted to pay the balance with a different card. They directed me inside to wait (for 10 hours it seemed). When it was my turn, the guy at the register told me I was all good to go and there were no additional charges. I insisted at first. Bet he reassured me there was nothing left to pay. I told him "well, I don't want to stir up the bee's" and I left. (September 9, 2020) I receive a text from uhaul saying to pay them $24.25 By September 15th, Or I will have to pay a $20.00 late fee. I follow the link to pay the bill no success. It won't take any type of payment. I called the number and waited on hold 3 times for 10-20 minutes. No one can take payment either. (September 15, 2020) I call the local uhaul and they are able to take a payment. I paid $24.25 and I'm done. Right? (September 16, 2020) I get a charge on my credit card for $54.25. I go to uhaul and they can't explained the charges. Then they called me back after I left and told me that it was a $30.00 late fee and $24.25 for the amount owed. (September 17, 2020) I call uhaul and explain what is going on, and the lady was like. Ah-huh ah-huh ah-huhhhh, wwwwwwwell sir, well sir (you could tell that she wanted to cut me off the whole time I was talking and she was not listening to me at all) iiiiiiiiiit looks like you still owe us $24.25 But my manager will have to call you back. As of right now I have paid $116.25 and they said I still owe them $24.25. Stay away from these guys. They are shady, they play dumb to questions that would explain how you are not to blame. And they can't do math. Even if you try to explain it to them. They are like "well, in the system is says..." very frustrated! read more

A move that was supposed to be a 6 hour one way delivery, took 2 days! I am thinking about getting legal counsel concerning the danger this truck put me, my family and possible other motorist on the road, in. I also encountered cost I had not expected to incur, as well as the people who helped me with my move.. Clearly this truck was not inspected. I had 2 blowouts (I have pictures) and the engine was nearly depleted of oil (should be in your records), and there was a split in the area of the airbag on the passenger side (also have pictures). This does not deserve any stars but a very close inspection of the facility that allowed this truck to be on the road. Without a doubt, some laws broken and regulations were ignored. The above rating was sent directly to U-haul service department when I received an email from them in June asking me to rate my experience with the truck I rented from their Vacaville location. The only correspondence I've received from them was asking me to pay a toll incurred when using the vehicle! I took care of the toll and as of today, 7/27/19 there has been nothing else from them. Oh by the way, I was charged the full price of the rental. The truck was not refueled, and they have said nothing about it, so maybe that take that as compensation for horrible service. read more

Came here last Thursday and rented a one way trunk to transport a sofa we bought from West Elm Outlet. The staff was polite, provided us with options and was in and out within 25mins. I think it would've been faster but there were 2 other customers ahead of us. This was by far the best U-Haul experience we've ever had from all the locations we've visited in the past. We reserved a truck for the entire weekend Friday-Sunday several weeks in advance. U-Haul decided they would change our order without informing us. When we went to pick it up, they only gave us the truck for Friday. We are active duty military, we don't know many people in this area as we were just stationed here. We had family traveling and a friend to come help us Saturday, but now we have nobody. We are so stressed out and have zero options left other than just trying to move all of our heavy, bulky furniture with one adult. We have to be out of our rental by Sunday, which would've been great if we could've used the truck on Saturday like we planned and like we ordered. The Uhaul people were not helpful and very rude. If I could've given this Uhaul zero stars, I would have. We are already at a stressful time in our lives, and this Uhaul made it more stressful by booking out the truck we reserved to someone else. If you're reading this, don't book with this Uhaul. We will never be renting a Uhaul again. read more

Horrible customer service. I reserved two 26' trucks a month ago to prepare for a big move of two homes. They called me 15 minutes prior to the pick up and told me they did not have the trucks. They had 10 foot trucks in stock or I could go to Fairfield which had a 26' and a 17' or go to napa for the two trucks I reserved. I told them they should bring the trucks to town for us since we were moving that day and had them reserved in Vacaville but they said that was not a service they offered. We ended up going to FF to get the trucks but they did not bother to tell us that the uhaul office in FF did not open until 8am. So we had to kill an hour while people were waiting at our houses to move us. They made the excuse that it was not their fault that the previous customers had not returned the trucks and there was nothing they would do to help us get the trucks to were we rented them from. I have a hard time believing that both trucks I had reserved did not come back. Maybe one of them but definitely not both. The biggest issue was the total lack of customer service. read more

When I called to reserve a rental truck I was on hold for over 20 minutes, I literally had to drive there to speak to a live person when I needed to make a change. The wait time in line is very similar to being on hold on the phone. I don't believe that they are equipped with enough trucks for their clientele. The thing that bothered me the most, the fact that the store has a posting requiring that all clients wear a mask due to Covid19. Not one employee had a mask on. I do not believe this company is setting a good example. read more

Beware of the "Fuel Tank Capacity" chart. It is a scam. When you rent a truck from this place, they give you a WebBEST receipt that looks like a friendly little chart that tells you exactly how many gallons it takes at the pump to get the level back up to where it was when you rented the truck. At first glance it looks like a convenient service that they are providing to help you on your move. It is not. When I started, the fuel level was at 3/4. According to the chart the tank capacity is 40 gallons. Also, according to the chart, If I ran the fuel gauge all the way to Empty it would take 27.6 gallons to bring the capacity back up to 3/4 full. This should have been my first clue that the chart is way for U-Haul to scam you for fuel. When we stopped at the gas station, the tank was at 1/8. According to the chart we needed 23.6 gallons to get it back to the 3/4 level. So I started pumping, keeping my eye on the meter. At some point my dad got suspicious of the chart and told me to stop the pump. I stopped at 19.774 gallons. About 4 gallons short of what the chart said. The tank was well past 3/4. It was completely FULL. Suddenly I remembered how the lady behind the U-Haul counter stressed that they DO NOT reimburse for fuel if we go over. I remember thinking, "Why don't they just give us a truck with a full tank of gas?" 19.774 gallons at $3.819 per gallon cost me $75.52. I probably could have gotten away with only putting in 15 gallons. Which would have cost me $57.29, difference of $18, and brought the level back to 3/4 of a tank. When I brought the truck back, I told the U-haul attendant that the chart was a scam and showed him the receipt from the gas station. He offered to take off 10 miles. 10 miles x .89 per mile = $8.90... far short of what I had just over-paid to fill up U-Haul's truck for them. I wished I hadn't been so tired from moving, I probably would have been more on my guard... and THAT is the moral of this story. If you move with this U-Haul company, keep your guard up. Really pay attention to the numbers before you even get started. They obviously take advantage of the physical and emotional fatigue that comes from moving and they capitalize on it in more ways that one. read more

Whew! After a long afternoon, the wifey and I finally completed our upload/download of our previous apartment. Being that it is Thursday, I figured that the crowd would be little to none. Surprisingly there were quite a few customers today. I found out that Thursday is the start of there already known busy weekend. Previously, I called by telephone and talked to Debbie. She was sweet with nice pleasantries. The changing of my reservation was fast. She made the phone call effortless. In store, the staff continue to the process of quick servicing with pleasant attitudes. Total process takes about 20 mins. The store seems a little bit cluttered but manageable, like a small maze (choose the right path!) parking is a little confusing but just be aware that official customer parking is right across from the store entrance. In the end, returning the truck was a breeze. Last time I used their services, I cashed out in store. This time around, I was able to cash out through their mobile device (saved card info) as they greeted me at the drop off area. Nice feature guys! But you better not take any more of my money! read more

My reservation got moved around 3 times in the last 24 hours, and UHaul had me picking up the trailer at this location and the truck at another uhaul in Davis. When I went to get my car attached to the trailer, I explained the situation and the woman at the counter allowed me to take one of their trucks and avoid going to the other location all together! They were extremely accommodating and helpful, I am really grateful for all of the ladies here who helped get me all set up with my move! read more

people there were nice enough, but the vehicle had issues from the get go. on a time crunch getting cross country and our options were mechanic, unload into another truck or (again since some time issue) we asked for extra time to allow us to unpack over 2 days. when we arrived, no one had record that we could return later so we asked for mechanic. truck evaluation revealed wheels out of alignment, transmission shot and deemed unsafe for the road. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Having them install a hitch on our sic. I scheduled early as possible to ensure that I could beat the lines and get done as early as possible. They tell me an hour wait. After signing for everything I leave and come back an hour later. They HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED WORKING ON MY CAR. They tell me to wait another hour. So here I wait. 45 minutes have gone by again and they still haven't started. Terrible service, terrible staff and even worse customer service. Extremely disappointing. read more

Getting a trailer hitch installed by Uhaul has been one of the worst consumer experiences I have ever had. Here are several separate reasons: 1. I was assured by the Uhaul employee who ordered the materials for the installation that when I left Uhaul I would have a fully functioning and guaranteed hitch. That was incorrect. Only after Uhaul finished the installation was I told I then had to go to Lexus to have them "reprogram" the car computer so the taillights on the trailer would work. To get this reprogramming done by Lexus requires $430 (on top of what I paid Uhaul) and another three and a half hours of my time driving back and forth to Lexus and waiting for the programming to be done. Had I been appropriately warned of this upfront I would have just had Lexus install the trailer hitch in the first place. 2. After I placed my order I was given a firm date and time for installation. Being the cautious type, the day before the appointment I called to confirm the appointment and to make sure the hitch had arrived. I was told that if the parts were not at Uhaul they would have called me and not having heard I was assured my hitch would be installed the next day. Wrong!! The hitch had not arrived and I was not called. I only found out my hitch was not there after I arrived at the Vacaville Uhaul. An entire day of my time was wasted and, having been assured I would have a hitch installed that day I had made arrangements to pick up my new boat the next day. I then had to scramble to find a friend with a trailer hitch who could help me out since my reliance on Uhaul was badly misplaced. 3. When my hitch finally arrived for installation I had an appointment for 2 PM. I called at 12:30 that day and confirmed my 2 PM appointment. Yes, I was assured the parts were there and the installation would be at 2 PM. The technician did not even drive my car in to the bay to begin installation until 4:20 PM....nearly two and a half hours after my appointment. I had to wait outside for over three hours in 100 degree heat! 4. The hitch that was finally installed (with no functioning lights on the trailer) is HORRIBLE quality. There is a large amount of play in the hitch after you insert the "male" end with the ball attached into the female part of the hitch installed on the car. read more

I booked a reservation over the phone called in because I had question about changing the size of my unit and was greeted on the phone by the manager Jerome who was very unorganized and unprofessional with the conversation over the phone. I was appalled by the way he talk to me and he definitely does not have the proper training or skill to handle simple complaint. Horrible experience with customer service at this location! We are a military family moving from the East coast and had a set back along the way. I called ahead to explain that I would not be able to drop off the trailer we were pulling until the next day because of the amount of travel time we had left. If I had attempted to travel any longer that day it would place my family's safety at risk which I was not about to do. Ms. Candice who had answered the phone decided she did not like my answer and insisted that I return the trailer that night. I attempted to explain to her again that the trailer would not be in that night regardless of the fact someone was due to rent it the following morning and that I understood I would incur additional costs and I had no problem with that. She still didn't like what I had to say so she hung up on me....then forwarded me to the call center when I attempted to call again. I will be requesting to see a manager when I turn in the trailer tomorrow. read more

I have had better service from this place but my last visit was terrible. I ordered a trailer online to pick up at this location and then return in the bay area. My order was confirmed but the day before pick up I was called and told that the trailer was not available and I would have to drive to Davis, 20 minutes in the opposite direction. The order should not have been allowed online if nothing was there. So I went into the location to see if there was something else I could rent, without having to waste the gas and time going to Davis. It was then I received the worst service I've ever had from Joseph Garcia. I understand some people don't like there jobs, I've had jobs I don't like but I know even to not let it show. He treated me like I didn't know anything, didn't listen to what I needed. After looking at my hitch he said I could rent the adapter which when it came time to I couldn't and had to run to an auto store to buy one. Yes I am female and I am a new SUV owner but there was no reason to treat me the way he did. In the end we were about to make a new reservation and it turns out I couldn't take any of their trailers and leave them in the bay area. Thats a question he should have asked in the beginning and in fact he should have looked up my reservation and we could have saved a whole lot of wasted time and this review would not have been written. This place is horrible. My husband rented a u haul truck for less than a day and the guy he returned the truck to said we would get a refund back that day for bringing the truck back in early. Next day came & no refund back in our account, so my husband called about it and the person he spoke to said it's gonna take 24 hours. Next day came and nothing, it's been almost a month and nothing has been refunded back and every time we call they keep saying it will be in your account this day or this long.
