Daniel was very accommodating, friendly and professional. He assisted my request for a storage unit. He was very detailed with price, discounts and other information that Storage Star tenants should know (eg. three keypads for exiting, dolly for assistance in carrying boxes, his availability, etc.). He was very patient with me because I am handicapped/disabled and walking at a slow pace and using a cane. He made it convenient for me to drive in and look at the units. I went to remove some items from my storage unit today, and found the door to the building had been broken open. Not only was this disconcerting, but it was barely possible to enter the building. Furthermore, my unit lock had been removed, and replaced with a red lock, indicating non-payment of rent, despite receiving regular notices from them that our credit card had been billed. At no time were we informed that there was a problem of any kind. Our records confirmed payment. There was no emergency number to reach management. read more

Since Storage star bought Vacaville Self storage the customer service is very bad. I've been a customer for probably 20 years. Lights out so I could not see in my unit, no carts for my upstairs unit, elevator issues and doesnt seem like any onsite employees anymore. They can't seem to get my bill right and now raising rents again. I've emailed and tried calling nothing seems to change with new owners. def think twice before renting here. I truly miss the former couple that managed this place. Since they left it's been awful and I will be moving my things to a different place. read more

Since the previous owner ( Vacaville Self Storage) sold this facility to Storage Star, the difference is like night and day. The previous on-site managers Tracy & Don, were the best. Since SS took over, their on-site mangers have changed almost monthly. The current on-site manager, Alan, has been helpful. I only hope he stays as all previous ST managers were terrible. I have tried to reach out to the corporate Team but haven't had any luck. All they have done is paint the outside of the buildings and raise the rent. Before the virus, the previously clean ,well stocked restrooms were great. But after SS took over, they were always dirty and not stocked. If I was going to stay in CA longer than the next 2 years, I would find another storage facility. Don't use this facility. read more

The $1 move in is the hook. Your rent will be raised after 90 days on a regular basis. Many of the glowing reviews are pre-investment group purchase. They took over somewhere around 1-2 years ago and it's no longer the same place. Tracy and Don, the prior managers, were wonderful and those are the 5 star reviews you're reading. It is MISLEADING for the current organization to place these older favorable reviews at the top for people to see. If you have a VERY SHORT-TERM situation it will probably be fine. Otherwise, look forward to constant rent raises after that. There are many small business people using it for storage of supplies and inventory who are finding it difficult to budget because of 3 rent increases in a year. While I believe in free enterprise, in the current economic environment, I find this current "business model" unconscionable. Corporate America and greed at its finest. It's really time to get lawmakers involved in regulating this industry and call media attention to expose it. Why shouldn't rent raises in storage units follow the same controls as apartments? I have downsized twice, and after 3 months the rent for the smaller unit has been raised to what I was paying for the larger size unit I had moved out of, not to mention the $20 fee each time for "administration." I obviously downsized to a smaller unit for budgetary purposes yet I still wound up paying the same thing. I'm no longer a fan of this place and will move on at my convenience. That said, I would only recommend a short-term stay here if you can't find anything else. read more

Honestly, this was some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. I forgot the front office lady's name, but she was truly the nicest person. I was there 2/27/18 1pm, and they were out of storage units. Instead of sending me on my way, she had me sit down, and cold called the other storage unit businesses until she found me one. She got me half off the unit, and even made a follow up call to that business as I got there. One of the nicest people I've encountered in vacaville, and maybe in my entire life. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. If you're reading this, thank you again for your help. So I rented a stall here to store my Travel Trailer for over 6 years...This place used to be Vacaville Self Storage. During that time there was a couple that took care of the place and made sure I always felt welcome when there...This storage facility was amazing!! Recently, I got a letter telling me I had basically 2 days to remove my Trailer or ot would be towed and that the facility will be building new storage spaces instead of RV/Boat rental spaces... 1st I had no idea Vacaville Self Storage was sold. The new company stated they tried to get a hold of me since November and was not successful...total lies because they still cashed my check to them a sit was paid electronically through the bank...My info has never changed. It's obvious this place was bought out by a large storage company and honestly cares only about the bottom dollar and not the public or people that have been loyal to the previous company. With all the choices now in Vacavile and new storage places built...this would be my last resort!!! Sad to see another great local business go down the drain in Vacaville. read more

After years of storing my camping trailer at this facility under a different owner prior to Star Storage, I and all the RVs, boats, and trailers are being throw out so they can build more storage units. I have just moved many of my 'things' here for a coveted job in San Francisco. The owner was so amazing to me...kind, sweet and loving as I was on the verge of tears being so out of sorts. She even came by to check on me as I was unloading my items. This place is like FORT KNOX...noone goes in or out without them knowing about it, cameras everywhere and there is always someone around. This place is SO awesome. I worked with Tracy to get my unit set up and she was so sweet from the moment I met her. Not only did she ask if I needed anything to eat or drink, but she warned me that the process of signing up would be a little long (it only took about 10 minutes lol). They offer the best prices for storage units in Vacaville (there were units that wanted 120 for the size of unit I got here for 77/month). If you're military you'll get an extra discount so make sure to let them know!! Their facility is extremely well kept and they will try to get you the best unit they can for the price you pay instead of just giving you the first one they see available. read more

I always check reviews on most businesses/services before I use them... I see why they have such great reviews. Not only does the location seem pretty secure the customer services is awesome! The husband and wife that work there are very friendly, upbeat and genuinely nice As for the units, they are very clean, nothing spectacular but how can a storage unit be "amazing"... They grounds are kept very clean and its obvious they go above and beyond to make it this way. As for price I think I'm paying an ok amount for a climate controlled unit, but I've never used self-storage before this. They also have military discount. read more

I've been a continued returning customer of this storage facility for 10+ years. Their customer service is stellar, the grounds are always clean, there has been issue with the elevator in the climate controlled unit area but they are very forthcoming and apologetic when it was an issue, extremely diligent and genuinely caring! Sadly, many businesses these days have lost touch with customer service and it speaks volumes for those companies in translation... they simply don't care! Not AT ALL the case here... they truly are over the top with how welcome they make you feel in such brief interactions at that... genuinely good people running a fantastic company! My ONLY problem is that all of the current 10x15 & 10x20 tenants aren't going any where fast and my I'm losing time fearing that I would have to settle for another local storage is hard to swallow! WOW!!! Never expected this from a storage facility especially after deciding to move out of ours after ten years due to absolute lack of customer service and loyalty. We visited every storage facility in Vacaville for a new storage and got the creeps and real bad vibes from ALL until luckily we visited the last one when we had all but given up. From the moment we walked in and was greeted by a genuinely very nice lady by the name of Tracy. She even apologized for how we were treated by Peabody Self Storage! The facilities are immaculate, extremely well secured and the rates are lower than all the rest! With everything they offer and have it's amazing that their prices can still be lower. I was thinking this may be just a one time experience to get us in the door, it definetly was not at all! Throughout our moving in process we met Don and experienced the same type of customer service and was offered bottled water and soft drinks every time! I thought customer service was lost everywhere I went but for once I found that some companies still have that priceless touch! We rented a unit in January 2008 and have had all of our household items here while we house-sit for family. The units are newer, clean, and the people who work here are terrific.
