These guys have been decent and I've supported them over a chain pet supply for years until now. They sold me a bag of feed infested with bugs and won't take it back or provide a replacement. Seems like a manufacturer issue but the store refuses to make it right. I will not go back. read more

Absolutely love this place for pet feed! I usually come here to get rabbit food and even purchased a rabbit from here years ago. My siblings come to get feed and other things for her chickens from here. Always well stocked. read more

You can get better service& much better then going to Petco, cause they don't work with several dogs at one time, then tell you come& pickup your dog by 2 p M& still not finished after your dog was there for more then 5 hours& still not finished with your pet, cause they work with more then two dogs at a time,so I quit going to Petco, then to Powels Brothers pet grooming read more

Went to get propane tank filled. Much better than HD exchange. Where the tanks are only 80% full. And, it's luck of the draw if you get a decent tank or something not so great. read more

Do NOT .. I repeat Do NOT take your pet to get their nails cut by MARI! She not only cut my dog's nails too short on one foot but on both feet! Then she calls us saying "I don't know what to do, the bleeding won't stop, are you going to take them to the vet?" When asked about the series of events, she said she placed a powder to help stop the bleeding but my dog kept licking it. First of all why would anyone allow a dog to lick that powder? Then when asked if she put a cone to prevent the licking, she stuttered, "no". Yet, she said she's professional and not a bad groomer. Clearly her actions say otherwise! It's one thing to accidentally cut one nail too short but to continue to do it to the others nails is utterly irresponsible and negligent! read more

If you're needing a propane refill, bring your empty bottle here. Best price I've found, they fill the tank all the way up and it's faster and better customer service than exchanging at Home Depot. read more

Small feed store in Vallejo. They have some live birds, a large selection of products for pets (including vaccines) and obviously more feed store oriented items. They have a website that looks a little dated but it is up to date and accurate. Their selection of products really is quite large and better than the big box stores. For example they had a couple different dental water additives for dogs that I've never seen at Petco or Petsmart. Lots and lots of different types of dog food. I like that they have vaccines available. They include a pamphlet you can use for a vaccine records. The cashiers have always been helpful and offered an ice pack for the vaccines. They host the VIP Pet Care mobile clinics on Sundays. The parking lot is on the smaller side so I imagine that can be busy. There are also ads by the front door. Usually it's for puppies or rescues etc. I met a staff member at the Benicia dog festival. He was very knowledgeable and told me they recently acquired Mugsy's the boutique pet bakery/shop near downtown. Good selection of items in the area and friendly service. There's a good chance I'll be back a couple times a year if I'm in the area especially since the Vallejo Petco is often not well stocked. read more

Customer service, amazing. The cat? Cute and cuddly. What's there Not to like? Keep this store running for many more years.

Liz is an excellent groomer. Today was a repeat visit to groom The two Benny's. Affordable. Great service.

The staff is very helpful, professional and courteous, and offered many suggestions for both of my dogs- they even gave me some free dog treats to try out. I definitely recommend this business to anyone that has a pet. read more

The lady at the cashier is very rude. I like this store and try my best to support local stores. But they must fire this lady. My husband pays for the dog food and he stood and waited for a friend they both walk out and she chases him outside. Remind you it was paid! read more

After an accident with Petco grooming, I swore to never ever take any of my dogs there again. Here they treat my dog gently and the groomers are so sweet. They are accommodating to what kind of haircut you would like for your dog, and they also give some goodies for your pup after the groom. My dog is very shy and they do not pressure him harshly to get their job done fast. They take the time and accommodate to your dogs temperament. My dog is a shih tzu, and we like his hair being short for easy brushing and breathability. They cut his hair to the perfect length and with cute rounded head. Really recommend grooming to any dog owner, just be wary of scheduling your appointments ahead of time because they can be quite busy! read more

I still can't believe it. I was told my dog was too old for them to groom. What the hell! he's nine and they don't groom dogs over 8. So now we not only discriminate against senior humans. It's also dogs that have been blessed to live past the age of 8. I hope the person that made this rule realize the will be old and someday and I hope their pet live to be my dog's age and be as healthy and happy as he is.. SHAME ON YOU!! read more

The service is EXCELLENT! I have been taking my two dogs for grooming services here for years and Tarra, the expert, is FANTASTIC. You can really tell she is such an animal lover, who cares for them deeply. She's great with my dogs and does such a wonderful job on their washing and haircuts. Tara has a beautiful spirit and a wonderful hand with the canines. She has my Yorkie looking vibrant with a soft coat and her timing was perfect. It was literally in and out... 1.5 hours. I appreciate the ease of the transaction and the competitive pricing and good service read more

Took my little guy here to be pampered as it was much needed. My Yorkie is unbelievably timid and shy, so I think I was just as nervous to leave him at a groomer's without my supervision. However, the staff was great and Aston was such a good boy with them! The groomers showed such love and adoration for their job and the pets they tend to. :) Before entering the grooming room, I could hear from outside the 2 groomers sweet talking the doggos they were working on, and they had such gentle tones with the little fur babies. That immediately made me feel comfortable leaving Aston there. Aston looked like a brand new doggy! His fur was really long and matted in a couple of spots, and his nails were in desperate need of a cutting. Almost 2 hours after being pampered, he was all handsome and ready to go home. My dog is not social as all, but when I came to pick him up, he looked completely at ease and comfortable there, to my shock. It was evident they took great care of my dog and Aston was def left in good hands. I expected him to come home moody after abandoning him at a groomer's without his permission (lol) but he was playful and happy-go-lucky when we picked him up. Based off the receipt, I believe my groomer's name was Tarra. Thank you for being a gem and taking care of my fur baby! $71 later and Aston came back with a haircut, nails cut, ears cleaned, teeth brushed, bathed, and glands expressed. I was also surprised they were able to get his nails to be at a proper short length! Other places I go to will barely cut any of his nails because they've been pretty long. At the end, the owner(?) also threw in a few small bags of dog food for free when I was paying, and I appreciated that as well :) read more

My daughter is immune-suppressed, and she has a new baby in a NICU unit in San Francisco. I obviously have to be 100% careful to make sure I can support her in person and not pass on any infections. I was thrilled that the pet food store that I have purchased food from since I moved here 18 months ago came through for me with a very easy/no contact way to purchase the dog food I need and just have it taken to my car. They also offered to deliver. Great customer service, and I love supporting local businesses that continue to add tax revenue to Vallejo. read more

I have been spending a lot of money at Powell Bros trying my best to support as many local businesses in town as possible. The lady (who is always kind to everyone) was working, and she had a line, so I let everyone go ahead of me since I had a cart full. When I got to the register, my 26-pound puppy food would not scan. So the lady called her husband up to help. He couldn't get it to scan, so I offered to get the price, where it was 49.99. He tried to say it was 63.99 (the spot next to it), and I said no, I got it from here. He went on and on, basically accusing me of lying and had me in tears being so rude. I can't believe they were willing to lose me as a customer over 14 dollars. I hope at some point they check the cameras, but the lady knew I wasn't lying, but her husband made me never ever want to return. I would not lie about something so petty and was hurt because I had been referring so many people to shop there. Please go to Petsmart, Petco, or Chewy, but not a place that could care less about your business! read more

I have been bringing my dog Stella here for several years to see Tarra. She is a wonderful groomer and the only one Stella will sit still for. I had a work appointment this morning and was going to run to my office for a couple of hours then pick Stella up. The owners told me they would not let her sit in the kennel in the grooming room and I had to pick her up immediately when Tarra was finished. The son, who was listening to my rather heated exchange with his parents, piped up and said, "We're not a kennel." Oh. OK. What they are not, in addition to that, is a company that gives anything even vaguely resembling customer service. How inconvenient would it have been for Stella (who is elderly) to just sleep for an hour while I was on my way back from my office. Apparently, so inconvenient they couldn't be bothered. This business has had a longstanding good reputation, but unfortunately that was because of the former owners, who were lovely to deal with. The family that took over is skating on the store's past reputation and they are unpleasant and really can't be bothered. I will not return and I'm sorry because Stella really likes Tarra. However, there are so many other businesses who have the same things (at lower prices) than Powell Brothers I'm sure I won't have any difficulty finding some other place to shop and get Stella groomed. You should look elsewhere as well. read more

Being the shameless food snob that I am, nothing makes it to my dining room table without careful scrutinization of the ingredients and research on the producer's good business practices. The same holds true when searching for appropriate doggy chow for my Beagle Rocco. You don't drink tap water or feed your kids junk food for dinner do you? Now I'm not condoning the purchase of Doggy Latte's or Puppy Spa Treatments (I have to draw the line for my obsessions SOMEWHERE), but if you're going to spend a little extra money ANYWHERE it should be on good dog food. I was impressed to see that Powell Bros. avoids carrying the crap that Petsmart pushes onto their unknowing customers. Evo, Canidae, Buffalo Blue, all top quality dog chow that adheres to a canine diet closer to what your furry friends would follow in the wild. Coupled with the 15% off purchase check-in offer that they give out to all of you Yelpers out there, they are definitely running a business I'd be proud to support for years to come. read more

They are family owned and super sweet with the customer service. Always smiling, and always quick to help. If you have chicken or if you are in need of some, come here! They don't sell tons of animals (which is good!) but they have a lot of options for toys and feed. There is always a yelp check in offer, I love that! A word of caution; it's not in the prettiest neighborhood so lock your doors! They have clinic days on Sunday, and cute rabbits for sale! I wish they had a larger selection for guinea pigs but it's alright. I'm just happy that I can patronize a pet store that isn't Petco! read more

Being a local living in this area over 35 years I just recently discovered this amazing mom and pop feed store -propane place ! I have been coming here for almost a year and I come here rather than petco or other pet stores because I always receive great service from all the employees that work there from the mom to the dad to the kids -- amazing service always ! There prices are very reasonable as well ! I highly recommend this place and I will not go anyplace even again even if it's a little cheaper !!! Great service - great products - highly recommend! Local pet store. Doesn't have everything as Petco but their prices are def cheaper. The Asian mom always gives me free samples to try and I appreciate the customer service they provide. They are friendly and fast. Glad to have the quicker option to come here then drive to the plaza. They also have a a small rewards points system which is nice it doesn't pay for your order but it does make a difference. Worth the trip. Great place to fill up on cat and dog food and treats as well as bedding and carriers! Very helpful staff.

The first time we came here, was for our older dog who needed his routine shots. The vet we usually go to cut down his hours and we didn't know where else to go. The line was long, but we didn't mind because it was filled with all kinds cute cats and dogs :) We were able to register our dog and the shots were quick! We came a second time for our new puppy and they gave us his second set of shots. The staff here is very informative and gentle with the pets. They know what they are talking about even when it comes to the food and other products they sell. They even clipped our puppies nails for the first time under 3 minutes without it even having the time to cry! He is now 1 1/2 years old and loves coming here for his routine shots (mostly to see the other dogs). read more
