Happy pup after her visit to Central Bark
    Lindsay D.

Chauntelle was so welcoming and quick to reply! I sent in a request to see about scheduling the same day and I heard back within a few minutes to come in. It's good to note that you need to enter through the back alley since the address shows the front which isn't an entrance. Anyway, there was plenty of parking and my dog came back so fluffy and clean! I usually bathe my dog at home but this was so much easier, cleaner, and convenient. I'd highly recommend Central Bark if you're in need of a friendly and efficient groomer.

Cut on his knee; this was taken within five minutes of me getting back to my office.

I took our 5 year old border terrier here in an effort to save time, in that my office is near this shop and he comes with me to work daily. This shop was previously recommended by our vet, who I recently learned no longer recommends due to other animals they have treated with issues from being groomed there too. With yelps 5 star reviews, I figured it was a safe bet. This was unfortunately a very bad mistake for our dog and wallet. It has been a full two weeks since my dog was hurt at this place and he is still suffering. Our dog is very loved and we have tummy rubs every morning before work and every night before bed, as well as he is doted over my coworkers and submits for rubs throughout the day. I dropped him at noon time at lunch and what I picked up at 315 was not my same dog. The owner was on her way out and mentioned some blisters she noticed on his stomach, and that she didn't trim his belly or inner thigh as she didn't want to be accused of causing them and had used peroxide on him. I thought maybe she meant like a flea bite or something? I went in and got my dog and was rushing so I didn't inspect his stomach. Inside I was told his nails were too long when he came in which caused them to bleed and crack during trimming. I thought well then why would you cut them back too far your first time having him? (Mind you he saw his previous groomer every 3 months). I got outside with him and he walked to the car head down, tail between legs. I sadly misread his emotions and thought he was just extra comfortable with them as he normally is bouncing off the walls when I get him from the groomer I've taken him to for years. I got back to my office, put him on my desk to trim hair missed on his front legs. He was cowering from me. I then saw a nick on his knee and shoulder, and looked under his belly and saw the attached pictures. I scooped him up and immediately went to the vet. They did an exam and skin sample under the microscope and discovered cells indicating the start of an infection. He was put on benedryl 3 times a day, antibiotics twice a day for a week, and cortisone once a day for 5, and tapered to half for another 5 doses, and antiseptic bath every other day. It was $60 for the groom, which sadly I paid electronically before I picked him up, and another $310 in total vet bills and medication since then. The speculation is an allergic reaction to the shampoo used? But I asked for a pic of the shampoo used and have used that kind before. I showed the photos to my sister who is a groomer out of state. She said that's a chemical burn from either leaving flea shampoo on too long, or perhaps the peroxide and shampoo together caused it. Our dog was excessively thirsty when I got him back to he office and lapped up and entire big bowl of water which he never has done in the years we have had him. I'm wondering if they fed him something to sedate him during the groom to keep him from jumping and that's what caused the reaction and why he was so thirsty. I truly do not know. Also, she cut what looks like a Batman symbol in his chest and gave him a lion tail? Who does that without asking? My dog does not bark and is never audible, most people don't believe we have a dog nor know he's under my desk at work. He has been waking me up whining and whimpering, and is so traumatized he has become a shaking trembling mess, also something he has never been. His dog tags wake me at night because he's still so upset he's trembling and they clank together. Please note I waited a full two weeks to post this as I was too upset to type without being irate and I didn't want to behave in an unchristian like manner. The owner offered to re-bathe him (no thank you) but never offered a return of funds, nor a response to my last text. See attached. It's just a very sad and bad experience all the way around. My poor dog! *********** Update: As for the owner response...you never mentioned you were leaving to get married or on a honeymoon? And what bearing would that have on this situation anyway? Your words when we crossed paths in the parking lot at pick up were that you had to pick up your daughter. That is it. You also don't even know which vet I use, so how could you determine they still recommend you? I have no reason to lie about this. I've never seen a border terrier with a lion tail or strange wonky chest logo. I would bet nobody else has either. Lastly, your vet inspecting him 2.5 weeks later is a moot point and I trust the vet I've already paid for. Again, no thanks. I do wish you well in your business, however I just can't give ours again because of this.

I just want to thank Chauntelle so much for taking our appt last minute today! My girl Ruby got out of our yard and had been wandering the streets for almost 4 days. She was finally found and to put it mildly, was a hot mess! Dirty, full of stickers and burrs and has very sore paws. I called and she took us in two hours later and I knew right away Ruby was in good hands. Caring and gentle and it was obvious, an animal lover. I've had pretty bad experiences with groomers in the past, I'm so glad I found this place. We were in and out in an hour and she even bandaged my pups paws! I really can't thank you enough, we will see you in a few months!

Our new favorite grooming place for our Ollie, Chauntelle is very nice and we highly recommend this grooming place to all. Thanks for taking care of Ollie!

    Before

Central Bark did a wonderful job on my sweet Sadie. I just got her from a rescue group about 2 weeks ago, don't know if or when she was last groomed. Omg she looks so good I barely recognized her when I picked her up! She's so freakn adorable! Chauntelle was super nice and friendly, and was really gentle with Sadie too!

My fur babies (4) are rescues and 2 can be a handful. please advise if the groomers can handle unruly fur babies without losing patience?

Well- I picked up my dog today at 3 while she was grooming another dog that had just bit her, and I didn't detect even a smidgen of impatience or anger. Today seemed to be pretty hectic with the dogs she was handling and both her and another… Read more

I will never take my dog here again. Here's a list of my reasons…read more 1. When I got in with my dog there was a man ahead of me waiting to pick up his dog. The owner was at a table shaving a little dog. Other dogs were barking and the little dog was gettin anxious and fidgeting a lot. She grabed the dogs leg, yanked it and yelled (growled) at him to "just stop it". She looked up quickly, seemingly making sure no one saw her, and moved her tone down to a semi-smooth cuddly one. I think she thought no one saw her, but I did. I was a little concerned, but put it aside. 2. My dog was frantic (new, loud place) and trying to jump on my lap. Puppy was growling at the woman, which he hardly ever does, and I knew if I picked him up and gave him to her, he would settle down. Instead she snapped at me to let him alone. She was trying to pet him, and he wasn't playing. I told her to rub his tummy and he settled down. Then she said something like, if you listen to me theres no problem (paraphrased) (Sorry this is so long, but I am just angry) I was a tiny bit worried something would happen to him. 3. I got back and reached over the little gate to calm the puppy down, and again she snapped" dontreach over MY gate" and proceded to tell me how I could get bit. Perhaps, but I thought her very melodramatic since my dog was the only one there. I realized, as an after thought, Angie was trying to keep me from seeing my dogs stomach, and the injury. 4. Her attitude toward me and my dog was absolutly condescending. Her roughness toward that first dog, and mine was what made me not want to take my puppy there again, but the reason I'm writing is... **my puppy had a nice bloody divit removed from his belly and she never even told me. In the past my dog was nipped twice during different groomings. Both times I was told about the injury at pickup. She never said a word to me about the injury. Also there were a few places the shears had left deep cuts in his fur. She told me she wasnt going to cut the ears and tail. She could have at least mentioned it to me...." oh, by the way... ears and tail really needed trimming, contrary to what I said before." One ear was shortened, one was not She also cut the tuffs of hair at the top of one ear and it looks like a misplaced cowlick. Not as cute as it sounds. After all that she made sure to point out I could leave a tip. I'm so angry I could spit like a cat. I want my $10 tip back, and half the cutting charge. Now I am telling everyone I know, and people at the dog parks, This woman does not deserve your business. She is disingenuous, she lies and takes her anger out on the animals. Yeah, the next one could be fine... but why would any one take a chance with their family. Little clues add up. Some times we ignore what we think is unrelated, even though it nags at your brain. Dont let it go. UPDATE SAME DAY I Just gave my dog some through attention and found a huge fur divit under the chin, and a nice shaved line under the collar area. I have posted pictures. Now I just plain want my money back... I wished like hell the scoring went into negative mumbers
