He passed away this past August, and it was even heartbreaking to tell the staff here because they all took care of Pogi and knew him so well! They started giving him haircuts when he was a young guy all the way up to when he turned 12 years old with warts all over his back. Wow trying to find an available appointment on Saturday morning was tough. Luckily Mickee's Pet Grooming was able to set me up for Jerry (my mix havanese and shi tzu) at noon. Jennifer was great to work with and did a wonderful job with Jerry while also advising on ways to help curb his biting/chewing of his legs (avoid carpet fresh power and move to a higher end dog food). So friendly and knowledgeable. I really appreciate the fact they had enough ppl to bring set up an appointment that day. It was $60 which was a little more then my last groomer, but the results were well worth it. Jerry didn't looked stressed (okay well maybe he was a little upset I left him, but overall he was pretty happy). He smelled great, nails were clipped, grooming on the legs and body were clean (last groomer missed a few spots, but not Jennifer). Great Service, Great results...happy dog , happy dog mommy! I've been taking my dog, Elko my Maltipoo, here for the last 4 years....I'm a return customer because Mickee and her staff know what they are doing. I usually go to Lori who is phenomenal, because Elko is familiar with her and I love that she truly takes the time to groom him. We usually ask for a bichon cut, nails clipped, anal glands, etc. If you come monthly or more,the cost of that is around $60 bucks. If you come every two weeks it's $40. Money well spent. I'm never disappointed with the service, I trust Mickee's with my baby implicitly. Lori always brings to my attention anything I need to know about Elko's health. His breed tends to have health issues and Elko tends to get ear infections and sometimes itchy, flaky skin occasionally. Whenever something is going on with Him, Lori lets me know. She noticed he was pooping out little white things that looked like rice (I noticed it too, but thought maybe he ingested some accidentally) and she told me that could indicate ringworm or some type of worm. Immediately I was able to have him treated. Now Elko is better, happy and healthy as ever! read more

Mickee is great! We have been taking our Bichon, Sammy and maltese, Ty Lee since they were pups and could go to the groomer. She takes wonderful care of them. We take them twice a month for maintenance because they get so easily matted, are white and I don't like my dogs to be stinky. I can never get them to look like she does after a bath and grooming. They are fluffy, cute and smell really good. They are happy in her doggy daycare area too and they are there for the day when they go. By the way, she does a great job taking care of skunk spray if your dog just so happens to annoy one! read more

I suspect that the groomers here use unsettling means of restraint -- I noticed that when I got my dog back from them, her ears were swollen and bruised at the tips. I did quite the online investigation to be sure that my dog was safe from any possible illness (my concerns were quelled when after a week the swelling subsided). I will still give 3 stars as I can't be certain of this (obviously I'm not going back to confirm - but just wanted others to be aware of this) and they did end up doing a good job. read more

Came to Mickee's after a negative experience with another groomer. My dog can be anxious and has bitten a previous groomer. I'm very clear when booking groomers what his particular triggers are. He has now been groomed twice at Mickee's and I only have great things to say about them! They are calm and patient and aren't overcrowded (too many dogs can increase my dog's anxiety). They've done a great job each time and I won't go anywhere else. One time it took longer than expected but as long as my dog is happy afterwards and no one's been hurt it's worth it. read more

I took my shi tzus for their first appointment and they were supposed to be ready at 3 and when I called to confirm the pick up time they told me 5pm. When I got there the groomer was still working on my first dog and still had to finish up on my 2nd dog so I had to still wait there for another 1/2 hour. I could tell she was rushed and that they must have been over booked that day. When I get the dogs home there were uneven areas that I had to go back the next day and get fixed waiting yet another 20 minutes for that to happen. I did not have them work on my first dog again because there is a big scratch in his neck and I didn't want them touching him again. No apologies or anything for the fact that I had to come in again to get things fixed. Mind you I also live in American Canyon so that's 40 minutes round trip. What an inconvenience and Mickee really needs to think about the service her groomers are providing. Also the scheduler clearly overbooked that day and at the expense of the safety of my dog! Please do not go here if you love your dogs! Now I might have to take my dog to the vet! read more

I have coming to Mickee's for years at the grant location, I called them this past Saturday to schedule an appointment. Mickee herself scheduled me a !:30pm appointment. I arrived at the location that I have been coming to for over 4 years and I see the door is locked. They have moved and left no forwarding address. Why didn't"t Mickee tell me this when I scheduled the appointment and why was there not an change of location sign on the door?? I called Mickee she gave me the address which was a few blocks down the street. Ugh but no problem, I take my dog Cody in and leave him with Mickee. I go outside and sit in my cat then I remember I forgot to remind Mickee to use my dog's shampoo which I had left there with Mickee at the last visit. I hear Mickee screaming at my dog and I see her jerking him around.( He hates coming there and now I can see why) Mickee doesn't realize that I am behind her until another groomer alerts her of my presence. I don't mention what I just witness, I say Mickee don't forget to use him shampoo from the vet. Mickee looks at me frustrated then goes to the back, she is back there for a bit she asks is it from Pinole Vet? I say no its from broadway pet. She has left my dog unattended in the tub, he is seeing me so he is trying to get out of the tub, I say the a employee I see walking by can you make sure my dog doesn't try to jump out? She stand there with him whining for me. Mickee is back there another ten minutes or so she come back and says I don't know what to tell you it is not here. I am pissed that shampoo cost me $30.00. I tell her he has a skin condition and needs special shampoo. I reminder of the day I had left it with her and when I called back because I wanted to come get it she said it will be alright we will keep it here and we won't use it on any other dog. Well today she was agitated, frustrated. She said its not here, no apology for losing my $30.00 prescription shampoo. She roughly finished shampooing my dog and fought with him to cut his nails. She did not squeeze his but. I am done I gave her no tip for the first time ever and I will never return in the past I had referred customers to her. Never again. I see why she has had to change the name another thing she failed to mention. read more

The thing that stills bother me is that they shaved my puppies when I wanted them styled and then charged me more without consulting me first or checking with me that was OK with me. A good business would have called the client first, getting the go ahead. Again - I'm new to dog grooming so I don't know if shaving dogs are standard - but I think it is ugly and I could have done it myself. read more

Worst experience ever! My first and last time to ever use their services. Came in for a nail trim. It was obvious my dog was having some anxiety, she did not try warming up to him to help put him at ease. I explained to her that he has a bad spine. She roughly puts him in a chokehold and scolds him to sit still. She then aggressively and unsuccessfully tried to express his anal glands, which I did not request! My poor little dog could not get out of there fast enough!! read more

We took our 2 dogs to Mickee's for over 7 yeas- until we moved away from Benicia. They always did an amazing job! We never experienced any kind of issue- not a bad cut or nail trim,,etc. Lori, Jennifer and Mickee became like family to my pug and maltipoo. Our maltipoo tends to have a lot of anxiety and Jennifer knew all of his little idiosyncrasies to help him have a better experience. Lori always groomed our pug and when she would pick her up to take her back I could always see how genuinely fond she was of Summer......When Summer passed away I know that Lori missed hew too!! To have that kind of relationship for your dogs and their groomers is amazing and not easy to find......we really miss them!! read more

We discovered Mickee's Pet Grooming about 3 months ago and our puppers have never been so well groomed and clean! They go in to see Mickee and her team and come out smelling so good, with all of their winter coat shedding done in one day and their toenails trimmed. Our Corgie boy, Murphy, is a handful on nail trims and we've now turned that task over to Mickee. And our other boy, Foxey, who has a bad hip, comes back in great shape and so clean and svelte! We took our maltese there a few weeks ago. We had an appointment for 11am and they said she would be done around 3pm. They didn't call us until after 5pm. I'm not sure why they would make the appointment so early if they weren't going to work on her until later. Her hair was matted so they had to shave her. She ended up with several cuts on her skin. They blamed us since her hair was so matted (we hadn't done a good job of keeping her brushed since we had a 3 week old baby) and because she wasn't well behaved. She peed on the car seat on the way home so I'm guessing they didn't let her outside. Overall not a great experience, will look for a new groomer. read more

I have taken my two pups to Mickeys a few times. And their cuts are usually done pretty nice. The problem is... Mickey seems to be quite rough with the dogs there.. she was literally fighting with one today as it was tied up with its mouth taped unable to defend itself. I wanted to take the poor thing home with me. My dogs seem traumatized when I get there .. and it takes a while for them to recover once they are home. I am seriously reconsidering them going there after what I witnessed today. Time to find a new groomer, it's unfortunate, because they do a good job.. but the warm loving care our animals should be receiving is lacking for sure! read more

This place is great for grooming. Lori is fantastic, kind & gentle with all the animals and it shows. The cut is perfect and for a great price. My dog loves coming here so I travel from Walnut Creek to bring him. The only comment, I never know when he will be done. If you don't live in the area it can be a bit of an issue. I had my roommate take my 14lb dog in to get groomed twice at Mickee's. The first cut was fine, I was very satisfied. The second cut was pretty poorly done. legs looked like they were left unfinished with a bald spot on his left front leg. I don't know how they operate or how many people they employ, but the difference in quality between the two visits was like night and day. I need a place that is consistent. It seriously pains me to write a negative review for a small business, but if my experience can help prevent this from happening to another customer's pet, then it's worth it. I booked an appointment for my gorgeous longhair dapple dachshund to be groomed today. He just needed a sanitary trim (shave the belly, between legs, and feet) then trim up his wild ears and give him a bath. My husband came home about 2 hours ago (yeah I needed time to decompress and express my thoughts clearly, not vindictively) with A COMPLETELY SHAVED DOG! Yeah, mid winter and now my 9lb dog has no fur! He's 8 years old so it's a bit late to be trying to train him (not to mention training dachshunds doesn't exist) to wear a sweater, but the fact of the matter is, I shouldn't have to. I called to complain about the groom, not to mention that they still charged my husband (though he said they knew they messed up) and was told the groomer wasn't happy with the trim she did, so she just shaved him.... seriously, ready that last sentence again, she didn't like her work, SO SHE JUST SHAVED HIM!!!!!! This is an 8 year old dog who obviously had never been shaved before. I used to be a dog groomer, I'm not stupid, you can tell if a dog has had their fur shaved, and now his will never grow back the same, not to mention having his natural temperature regulation of his fur being removed MID WINTER!!! Yes, they offered to refund me AFTER I called to complain, but the money isn't the point; the actual groomer wouldn't even get on the phone to apologize. I will never go back here again, and strongly caution future patrons to be extremely specific with what they want, and to request a phone call before ANY deviation from your request. read more
