OMG, this is the place where I made up my mind to start doing yelp reviews. To be fair and to begin with, the service was pretty good and friendly. I first dropped by this place because of a concert at the arena, and it was full on a Saturday night. I couldn't get a seat, so I thought it's probably because it's really good, and I should come back some other time. When I made the reservation to come on a weekday evening, it was pretty much empty, so the ambience was a bit weird. Worst of all, the food was just bizarre. I've had probably most kinds of food iteratively that one can find on yelp, but this place is definitely not "traditional" Chinese food, and it doesn't seem Asian fusion or American new either. The dishes were just weird tasting if I have to describe. They even noted on the menu that it's their authentic way of doing it. But just imagine even if you like pepper on you wings, if they just give you 5x of what you deem reasonable, how much can you still enjoy it? The crab fried rice I got was really oily and didn't match what they showed in pictures. The dumplings tasted like previously frozen to me with over-salted sauce. The yellow cocktail was abysmal to me as well. It tasted like some kind of cough medicine. Just like the food, I didn't feel Asian-inspired flavor but just a disguiser. It was more like they are telling Chinese people this is American-fusion while telling American folks this is Asian-fusion. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, Szechuan babyback ribs, and the cumin spicy wings. Service was okay and food came out at a reasonable time. However, our dishes were all barely edible. The Dan Dan noodles didn't taste as salty because our tastes buds were fried from the ribs and wings. I heard from two different friends that there is a lack of consistency in how their food tastes. One said "my Dan Dan noodles were fine but my friend's was too salty" and another said "the ribs were really good last time but not this time." I am used to eating food with big flavors but this amount of salt was ridiculous. The Asian guy server also gave us forks for some reason even though we were using the chopsticks just fine (I'm Asian and my friend is Hispanic). This is the first time I've complained about my meal in a restaurant but at least they took off the charge of the wings and rice (we ordered the rice to counteract the salt). I ate two wings and one rib before I gave up. Please have some consistency in your cooks or at least taste the dishes before serving them to your customers. read more

The Pork & Tobiko dumplings came in hot, but the real showstoppers were the Pepper Steak and Scallop Prawn Gungbao - both cooked so perfectly, they made the theater's drama feel understated. Came here after a movie night at the Pacific Science Center, it's about a 10 min walk so very convenient. It wasn't very busy on a Sunday night although service was a little slow since they seemed to only have one waiter and a bartender. This place knows how to season! The wings were the most interesting part of our meal and the one item we all collectively couldn't stop talking about. Yummy! Food is delightfully spicy. My sister and I stopped in for any early dinner and we had the carrot and cabbage dumplings and the Dan Dan Noodles with pork were wonderful. My sister enjoyed the lovely tingling sensation that comes with enjoying the special Chinese peppercorn that causes your mouth to go numb. I was not affected by it, but it doesn't mean it wasn't super delicious. I ordered the chongqing mala chicken for the first time and finished the entire plate including every single chili. Yes my tongue was burning. Yes the dish is amazing. I usually get the scallop prawn gungbao (which is also a must try with a side of rice) but glad I tried this new dish that I'm now infatuated with. I was enjoying it so much that I forgot to take a photo but got a pic of their yellow Negroni which was perfectly balanced. Nice little restaurant close to the arena, we were definitely lured in by all the good reviews and were excited to try it out. They do great cocktails and their drink menu definitely has something interesting for everyone. We had a couple of items and all dumplings were definitely the best, we were not a huge fan of the Dan Dan or the extremely oversalted crab fried rice. We had a spoonful and couldn't eat it, our server was very sweet and returned it and took it off the bill. They were pretty heavy on the salt overall and we are not sensitive. Tyger Tyger has quickly become one of my fave spots in Seattle, and one that I recommend to anyone coming up for a visit! Situated right across from the Space Needle, the location is perfect and easily accessible. The space inside is beautiful, with a nice amount of space for tables to be spread out. The services both times have been amazing. Everyone is so knowledgable about the menu, are able to recommend food and drink, check up on you often, and are very friendly! One night I came in, one of the staff even took a complementary shot of Chinese whiskey I believe, with us, which was a nice treat! I've ordered a variety of things when stopping in the last couple of times, and have really like everything. If I could choose a few favorites, they would be the Dan Dan Mien, Sweet & Spicy Braised Duck, and the Sichuan Ribs. Also, if you ask for a side of rice, they give you their special steamed haiga rice, which is super good, with any dish you get! I am not too good with spicy foods, so these were just right for me. If you're looking for Sichuan super spicy, you won't get that mouth numbing effect, but for me I was totally good with that. The dishes on the menu are pretty reasonably priced, and the portions sizes are huge. Both times I've been in, I have ordered an appetizer or veggie dish, a meat dish, and something else (noodles or another meat item), and when split between 2 people, we were stuffed and had to bring home leftovers! Delicious and my favorite dish from Tyger Tyger. Great by itself but also pairs well with anything on the menu. Gung Bao Chicken; Chicken is soft and the Sichuan sauce is flavor some. Chili Cumin Beef; appetizing! The sirloin was cooked perfectly and I couldn't get enough of the green onions. Lastly, the Rockfish with Sour mustard greens!!! A MUST ORDER! This is more of an Americanized Sichuan restaurant. Was disappointed to not get any of the tingly/numbing sensation from Sichuan peppers in any of the dishes I ordered. I got: Dan Dan Noodles: Too oily. I didn't think it was as flavorful as the Dan Dan from Dough Zone. Rockfish: was excited to try this given the other reviews here but was disappointed with this as well. Too much oil and too much vinegar. Couldn't taste the fish at all - the pieces were tiny. Gung Bao chicken: this was probably the best dish of the 3 I ordered. Good dose of peanuts and flavorful sauce. Nevertheless, props to this place for opening in the middle of a pandemic. However there's an overuse of vinegar and cornstarch probably because they just opened and need to work on their dishes more. Here's what I ordered: Wonton starter in chili oil: was al dente and the wrapper was too thick. Best dish was the pulled tofu, though not spicy, had a decent amount of flavor. I would still go to ID for my tofu fix though. NW tofu or Thanh Son in my fav. Rockfish in chili oil needs the most improvement. Had too much vinegar. However the pickled cabbage had absorbed enough chili to make it mild spicy. Fish would have been better if it wasn't submerged in cornstarch. It was inedible for me and my friend. We went after reading positive and good reviews about this place. Though, i think it's not all that great and the food does not justify the price. We had Dan Dan Mian, Garlic 3-way fried rice and Chicken and Shittake dumplings. The menu read that Dan Dan Mian comes with hot numbing sauce, which it does; but then after having two or three spoons, the taste fades out. The chili oil is too high on the spice and bitter side that it overpowers the taste of the dumpling itself. I felt the Garlic 3-way fried rice is better than the other two. This is an odd review. Tyger Tyger is a great restaurant with high quality food that we liked a lot, but we will not be returning - because sadly too many of the things we liked were more spicy than we can tolerate and there weren't enough milder choices. If you love spicy food, this is a great place to try. I should say up front that my wife is quite spice-friendly and frequently eats 2 and 3 star food (US scale). I am more of a spice wimp and I am best with 0 and 1 star dishes. But the food at Tyger Tyger was so appealing I was determined to try it so I signed us up knowing the risks. The space is attractive, light and located near the Seattle Centre. There is good street parking nearby and plenty of off-street choices too. The dining room is comfortable, although they left the door open for the first hour I was there, in the early evening in mid March, and that made it a bit more chilly than was comfortable. The menu is Szechuan-inspired and seems to have gotten larger and more diverse since covid retreated. There were many dishes that looked appealing and we deliberately ordered more than we could eat to try a range of things out. Service was great - prompt, helpful and attentive. Food arrived very rapidly and was not broken into courses as we expected given the kind of restaurant. We tried the Prawn and Chive and the Chicken and Shitake dumplings. Both good, though if we did it again we'd have the chili oil on the side. We tried the Dan Dan Mian noodles with the numbing spice on the side, and my wife liked this. I had the Tyger Tyger fried rice which was great. And my favourite thing of the evening were the Pork Belly buns which were mild and delicious. Sadly, the most appealing things on the menu for us (The pork ribs and twice cooked pork) were both too spicy for either of us. I found it hard, because these ribs were delicious with so many tasty flavours, but I couldn't eat and enjoy them. I can't believe I didn't know we had vegan dan dan in this city until like, a week ago. As you may know, I am a huge fan of a particular bowl of tantanmen in PDX, but I'd never seen vegan dan dan offered anywhere. I didn't search very exhaustively since Seattle has pretty poor vegan-friendly offerings generally, but is especially lacking when it comes to international options. Luckily my partner and I were overdue for a meal out, anyway, so when I told them Tyger Tyger had vegan options, we made date plans for later that week. We were not disappointed! We shared the green beans and (vegan) dumplings, both of which were excellent. The dumplings in particular were honestly my favorite part of the meal, even though I came for the noodles (and noodles are my go-to food group, lol). I do love dumplings of all kinds a lot, but I am honestly not a huge fan of most veggies, and I loathe carrots (long story...) so I wasn't even sure if we should try them. What a mistake it would have been to skip them! Hands down, some of the best dumplings I've ever had. Maybe even better than the gyoza from my beloved tantanmen restaurant. The sauce was delicious but the dough was a real standout, the texture was heavenly. The green beans were also perfectly cooked with plenty of acid, and I loved the crunchy topping. My partner got the ribs, which they were really happy with. The only constructive comment they had was that they were a little dry. I got the dan dan, of course, and was also very happy with it. I was somewhat skeptical about the Beyond beef topping (not because Beyond isn't good, just because typically dan dan is topped with minced pork which is obviously not quite the same as beef and I didn't see the appeal over a tofu alternative) but they did a really good job with it and it added a lot to the dish. The overall flavor was definitely spicy and savory, but a lot earthier and more complex than similar options for vegan spicy noodles (a certain Taiwanese restaurant). I probably could have finished the entire serving if I hadn't inhaled a bunch of dumplings beforehand (and I could definitely finish a whole plate of those on my own) but as it was, I had enough leftover for lunch the next day and they were even better? Everything was spicy, of course, but definitely edible. My ex loved spicy food and routinely made me meals that I just genuinely could not eat because of the spice level. I do like spicy food but not to the point of being masochistic with it. My current partner and date enjoys it more than I do, but is not as fiendish with it as my ex. I was able to eat everything just fine, and we both enjoyed the spice level. The cocktails were also exciting! They had an oat milk boba cocktail on the menu that I desperately wanted to try, but apparently, the boba wasn't ready yet. Soooooo tragic that we'll have to come back to try it out, I know....I think we tried five cocktails altogether and they were all super interesting. I wouldn't necessarily order them all again but that's just because of flavor preferences. They were all very balanced and complex (not overly sweet or anything), and you could tell a lot of thought went into each one. There is definitely a flavor profile that will suit everyone's tastes, though. The last one my partner ordered was sparkly?! I was very envious. I do not remember the names that well (I should probably start taking photos of menus considering how much I rely on others to!), unfortunately! Staff was nice and overall it's a decent vibe for a date night if it's not too busy (it wasn't for us during the week). It was a little spendy but we also ordered a lot of food, I think we paid a little under $200 after the tip. Most of the dishes other than the meat entrees, as well as the cocktails, are ~$15 each. I took home about half my noodles, and we also took home at least half the green beans. So it's pretty easy to control dinner costs if need be, by splitting only one or two dishes and having fewer drinks. Between that and the location (which is convenient for us), I can see Tyger Tyger being both an indulgent date night and happy hour spot for us and I'm sure we will be back very soon! read more

Made reservations for a party of 7, due to traffic we ended up about ten minutes late but they still had the table for us, so that was a plus. It was a busy Friday evening & it showed. Not sure if it was short staffing or just that it was busy but the staff was a little frazzled & all over the place. Friendly though. Food came out very staggered. One person's food came out way after everyone else had food & one of the three appetizers came out after everyone was done with their main courses. The drinks were so amazing - got the if I had to choose and this shit is bananas. Both excellent drinks with unique flavor profiles. Having an extreme soft spot for passion fruit I have to give so many kudos to "if I had to choose." One of my favorite tart cocktails in 2022. We ordered the cilantro, pork, and tobiko dumplings which were perfectly sauced in chili oil and had such a delightful cronch from the tobiko. Yum yum yum. Then came the Brussels which I'll be thinking about for a long time that came abundant with Chinese sausage (omg so delish). Then came the tyger fried rice and rockfish mains.
