Really great little hidden gem in Belltown. This is a great space with a decent amount of seating, a large bar, and tons of TVs and a projector screen for watching sports. My partner and I live locally and love coming here for a down to earth, reasonably priced meal and some beers. They have a good happy hour. The staff is very friendly and helpful, really nice people. Their menu is very unique for Seattle and I could imagine might throw some people off, but trust me, it's good stuff! Hubby asked for medium rare, but the rarest they offer is medium due to being served on a sizzling platter. Fair enough. The platter did arrive smoking hot. The flavors were pretty good. This place feels like someone brought HK Bistro and A+ Hong Kong Kitchen over to Belltown, and then placed those street lights inside the bar area that make you feel like you're living the nightlife in Hong Kong itself. I went here alone to eat on a Saturday night and got seated quickly. There's many tables for 4 people, and ample bar seating. It's very dimly lit inside even with the "city lights" on the ceiling. They serve your regular Hong Kong cafe dishes like French toast, sizzling plates, spaghetti and wings. Whenever I go to places like these, I always have to get a sizzling plate, and here I got their meat lover combo with black pepper sauce on the side. My server did tell me this is a big dish, and wow he wasn't joking! It came with chicken thighs, pork chops and beef steaks (two pieces per meat), a fried egg, some broccoli and a small bowl of rice put on the sizzling pan (which was also sizzling like crazy when I got it to my table). Meat was very tasty and smoky, especially the beef steak which tasted like it had more pepper than the rest. Not complaining though, that was my favorite part of eating this! This was so big that you'd either have to split it with another person or spend almost an hour like I did to finish the whole thing by yourself. In this case, the huge portions justified the high price tag. I am glad to see there is a HK style cafe spot in Seattle, where they are far and few between. This place does serve delicious food, a little bit of a fusion take, and priced on the way higher end than what I would expect given the small portions. I went here for a Sunday lunch and it was not busy. I got the ribeye with spaghetti with black pepper sauce because black pepper sauce is what I grew up with when I get grilled meats in HK style cafes. Lunch special is $23.95 for this, and I paid an $8 surcharge to sub the soda with a cocktail which is a decent substitution (as most cocktails are $10-15+). The ribeye is pretty good, full of flavor. I was initially hesitant that they cooked it quite well done due to the hot plate, what a waste of meat, but it was still very juicy and not too much fat. The spaghetti is also served in the same hot plate so there were a few bits where it was quite crunchy and flavorful so that was nice. There were steamed veggies too. The black pepper sauce is flavorful but on the saltier side, but I still finished it cause the combination of flavors of the dish was excellent. I just wished for the price, the portions could've been much larger. I was only half full after. The cocktail I got was the Hong Kong slipper which as a midori drink, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Presentation was simple but sufficient. Service is okay. Not expecting much, but I would've appreciated a water refill. Also, prices are high but they further nickle and dime you. They also tack on an additional 4% surcharge for credit card transactions, on top of tax and tip. So what was $23.95 was close to $25. Imagine dinner, the ribeye would be $25.95 before the surcharge. With what looks like half-meal portions, this place is wayyyy too expensive. But the food is good enough that the value only deserves to take off at most 1 star. read more

My girlfriend and I were in the area today and I was looking to find somewhere to eat with a happy hour, and so I discovered Imperial Kitchen while searching on Google Maps. What drew me in were the photos of the interior and the neon signs, and I was excited to check this place out since it was Hong Kong inspired. We came in and were seated right away. There weren't any other customers inside, and so our waiter was very attentive with us. After going through the menu, we ordered the following; Imperial Hot Wings, Truffle Fries, Takoyaki, Corn Cheese, the HongKong Slipper, and the alcoholic HK Iced Tea. Everything we ordered was off the Happy Hour menu except for the HK Iced Tea. Almost every dish was tasty! The wings had a nice tangy flavor, wasn't too spicy though. Truffle fries were DELICIOUS that you didn't have to eat it with the provided sauces. Takoyaki was pretty good too but nothing special, and the corn cheese was just okay, could have been spiced up a bit. My girlfriend ordered the HK Iced Tea but she didn't really like it that much, however, I thought it was good. I gave her my HongKong Slipper instead and she really liked it, it was very tasty with the midori. Both drinks are refreshing. I noticed online that they had a bigger menu, whereas the photos I posted were the only items I saw. Perhaps they had a different lunch/dinner menu depending on the day? I was quite interested in eating their french toast. They have a decent selection of food, but for a Hong Kong inspired place I thought they could've had more Hong Kong street foods. Especially since I felt there were too many western dishes on the menu, I liked the wings but did they really need to have a whole page dedicated to it? Same thing with the burger page online. While it's ultimately up to them on how they want to lead their restaurant, I think they could be more popular with a few changes to their menu and brand marketing. Happy hour is every day on food and drinks with their prices being more than competitive. Had a majority of their happy hour foods and the main ones I liked were their wings (imperial hot, not spicy spicy with great flavor! And bigger than other places), the truffle fries were perfect. Asian here - and if you're looking to support other local Asian businesses: AVOID THIS! We came here on Friday the 13th - didn't know bad luck would hit us here. For context, I was in a party of 5 and we came to this bar in hopes of having a few drinks prior to attending Vue for K-Pop night. From the second we walked in, everything was disastrous. Nobody greeted us and there were 3 workers: 2 men and 1 woman. Never did they ask us how large our party was nor did they greet us. Mind you, it was not a busy night as there only 4 parties here ranging from groups of 2 - 7. Eventually, when we let it be known we existed, they asked if we wanted a table or seats at the bar and we responded with, 'Table'. There's 5 of us and there were no tables that could accommodate our party of 5, so one of our friends grabbed a chair from an empty table and moved it to a table of 4 so we could all sit there. One of the three workers immediately shook his head left to right in frustration/ disappointment. We all saw this. As soon as I saw this, I told my friend to move the chair back and suggested we sit at the bar because, as an Asian American, I've been conditioned to avoid confrontation and be a model minority (obviously, this is dumb af). When we moved the chair back, we went to the far corner of the bar where there were 5 seats available. The same guy who shook his head in frustration/ disappointment used a tone to tell me that we can't sit there because that area wouldn't accommodate us. He told us we had to sit at a different area of the bar because, apparently, the 5 seats we chose wouldn't be good enough for us. I know I should've said something then and then, but I still obliged. Sorry. I avoid confrontation, but yet, here I am writing this (I needed time to process my thoughts and feelings). A different bartender, named Joe, who's amazing, was helping us at this point. I immediately asked him what was wrong with the other guy and Joe tells me that they thought we were going to order food and that there wouldn't have been enough space at the other corner of the bar to accommodate us for such. That's when I tell him that we already ate [though that's besides the point] and that we're only there for drinks. Thank goodness Joe was there because he made the experience shift from disastrous to mediocre because he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. He ended smoking our friend's whiskey drink whose birthday we were celebrating and was visiting from California. I know this review is rather long, but I'd reckon that if you're looking for a place to have drinks on a Friday night - or any night, avoid this place. It just wasn't that one bartender with the beard who was unfriendly, it was also the woman. They were all Asian which disappoints me because they didn't treat any other patrons like this [who were non-Asians]. I hope it's not internalized-racism, but what do I know - for context, my party were all Asians as so were the workers. To add fuel to the fire, when my friends were trying to use the restroom, the workers never vocalized informed our party that you needed a code to use the restroom. When my friends asked for the code, the workers only pointed to a poster that had the codes written out. They half-assed everything with us. So yeah, aside from Joe, I really hope these other bartenders find a job they actually like because this was far from what anyone - Asian or not - should experience. read more

Had a show at the Crocodile and decided to stop in here before. SO glad we did. The seats are super comfy and the service is amazing. The server was so attentive and kind!
