Overall I had a decent experience at Trapper's. One good thing was that we did have nice service and the waitresses seemed attentive and kind. However, I am a bit concerned that the California roll came out looking like this; (some of them had avocado, but not all of them;) I understand that the rolls don't need to be perfect every time. I must say though it's a bit disappointing when a roll only has two ingredients (crab and avocado) and it's missing one of them in several pieces. The roll also just looked a bit sloppy. Another concern we had was about paying. When my partner went to go and pay for the meal, they automatically added a 25% gratuity. Unfortunately for these reasons I don't think our expectations were fully met at Trapper's. read more

My family and I were regulars at Trapper's in Covington, but the quality and service have dropped so much that we're moving on. Most recently, I had extremely hot miso soup spilled on my leg by the server without even an apology. Time before, I ordered a cocktail and it was obviously made incorrectly, when I raised a complaint, the server told me the drink recipe and walked away. Food quality is a coin flip. Some times it's decent, sometimes it's absolute garbage. Rolls missing ingredients, rolls cut in random sizes and (my favorite) a roll they didn't even cut at all. (Literal sushi loaf.) I've never complained to a manager as as far as I can tell, there isn't one. Avoid. read more

We have been to quite a few Trapper locations and this is by far the worst. If I could give a no star review I would. We visited on a Friday not it wasn't busy at all (maybe 3-4 tables in all). My husband walked strait into the bar and was stopped and told it wasn't open seating. Ok fine we will wait. We were told by the host it would be a 5 minute wait. We waited the 5 mins and more people walked in and they were told 5 minute wait as well. We were ignored the whole time. I asked why are we waiting and the host stated the kitchen is backed up with orders. Mind you there was only 3-4 tables. So that means they were backed up because of online customer orders which I translated as they don't care about their in person paying customers which tend to spend more money. Won't be back to this location . If you are looking for a place with good customer service, they don't seem to know what that is. read more

Not good for Gluten Free. My wife and I have been here about a dozen times over the course of this restaurant being here. Each time we think, 'eh it can't be that bad again... let's give it another try.' And each time, it's very bad. This restaurant should not sell or label anything as gluten free, let alone charge more money for it. Almost every time we order gf food here, it arrives at the table with something blatantly full of gluten (tempura or roe), and we have to ask about getting real gluten free food - which then needs to be made again and we must wait another sitting to get food. Even after the second reminder - the food usually makes my wife and I feel terrible (we both have gluten issues). It's also insanely expensive for a small family if eating gluten free. Typically our fam of four spends upwards of $90 for the meager meals here. It's enough food I guess. But no one is really full after eating here. Usually hunger ensues after a couple hours. Needless to say, not worth $90 if you just have to eat again in 2 hours - especially if you're getting sick from it because of gluten contamination. Having said this, the tukwila location does much better - and does seem to train their employees on gluten free preparation. I don't know how the disparity between two locations could be so great - but it apparently is. read more

Service absolutely sucks. Took over an hour to get a table. Open bar entirely and I am alone? WTF. The hostess was absolutely annoyed by having to do her job. And did not even do that. I would recommend anywhere but here. This was a total waste of time and money. Definitely the worst seaweed salad ever. I had to spit it out. Was warm and tasted funny. I love Trappers and they have great sushi! However this location continues to go down hill! The servers and management have no hustle and do not work as a team. They are often standing around and chatting instead of helping their customers. We waited 10+min before anyone came to greet us at the table. Our server didn't come to check on us with our food till it was almost gone. After being done eating for at least 15minutes we had to flag down our server to get our check. During this time the restaurant was not busy, only 3 tables and 4-5 servers/hosts plus the manager were just standing around. This has been my experience the last several times I've been. Go to another location or just do pick up. The kitchen is the only group who has it together. read more

Grub Hub SUCKS!!!! Trappers too. What was four rolls ended up being sushi slop. All the rolls broken and mixed together. Part of the problem was packaging and the rest probably just being thrown around in a car. At least the tempura was cold and flavorless. That's another no. Why do these restaurant owners think putting out a shite product is ok. First time I've been to a Trapper's. Don't like sushi, went with friends. There were 3 of us, we grabbed a table that seats 6. The manager came over and told us that it was OK this time. But they like to save the tables that seat 6 for parties of 6. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Then my friend asked to change something on her order. He then came over and told her they did it this time but couldn't do it again in the future. They were out of edamame so my friend ordered the squid salad. The server brought out seaweed salad. This location is the only one I've been too but they are a chain. I love sushi and this is the closest spot to us. Would I go here if there were other good sushi spots in the area? Maybe but probably no. Last night we were there for my birthday. They were really busy and we order the all you can eat sushi. If you eat a lot of nigiri it's definitely worth the cost. We a lot a lot of nigiri so it was definitely worth it! The sushi rolls here have lots of different sauces on them. I'm not really into at that sauce. California sushi it definitely different than Washington. A lot of the rolls here have cream cheese and are batter fried. It's not for me but apparently it's popular with someone. I order the rolls there but I alter them a little. One star off for just how slippery and scary the floors are here. I won't go here in the rain. I noticed last night that they added tons of rugs all over walk paths but it's horrible while you are sitting there and feet, table and chair continue to slide around. And I won't even tell you how ugly I looked getting up with my chair slipping and me almost falling. read more

She was great and busting her but. As a business owner myself, I saw lots of profit go out the door due to an extensive wait because there was only one server. Bad business. Had to physically get up and request plates and water from someone other than our server who would take our order for follow-up drinks or more water than go make drinks behind the bar for 15 minutes. I just had their Trapper combo dinner. Consisted of a roll and 5 pieces of nigiri sushi. I had the Andromeda roll. It tasted like rice mixed with some deep fried batter and cream cheese. I wouldn't want to eat it again. The nigiri sushi were like meh. The fish was not that fresh. The conveyor belt sushi I had was much better this. I'd say the quality is in par with supermarket sushi. I don't know why the needed to charge 2% service fee on top of tips. Won't visit again. If you like redneck sushi, this is the place for you. read more

I always order too much and get way too full!! Trappers has a great selection, fresh and fast. There has to be something said for safety regarding the rugs throughout this restaurant. It's odd to me that a Manager hasn't stepped up and gotten a handful of non-slip rug liners. I have personally watched an older couple slip and almost fall, I've walked in and slid and we have watched several employees almost biff it a few times as well. The rugs just slide all over the place. Can someone please take the risk of someone getting really hurt and throw some money at securing your rugs/mats throughout you restaurant? It leaves a bad taste in my mouth knowing that this has been an ongoing issue since they took over this space and upper Management hasn't problem solved. Shame on you. read more

Came for lunch and they offer all you can eat (totally forgot since its been a while coming here). So decided to go with that and it was totally worth it. I wish I could remember which sushi is which from the picture but all of it are just so delicious! The one that got the "Wow" by other guest was called the Bonney Lake (fourth picture, top one). It was an amazing experience, amazing food, amazing staff! The place is smaller than Tukwila and Federal Way, but since I came for lunch, there was no issue with anything. Very dirty inside, there was a lot of napkins and straw wrappers on the floor. A lot of the tables that were empty still had dirty plates and spilled drinks on the table when we arrived. There was at least 80% of the tables in their dining room that were empty / dirty, which leads me too believe that they are extremely understaffed. That being said I felt as though the staff there needs a lot more training, the young girl that told us there was a wait, forgot to put us on the waiting list so we were sitting there after several groups arriving after us we're getting seated. Once we asked about the wait list, she asked if we are waiting for an order. No, we were waiting to be seated. She then starts to make an excuse that another waitress forgot to put us on the list, which is hard to believe because she was the one that we talked to in the beginning. Lots of training and customer service needs to be had because it was very disappointing. read more

This place is doing amazing fast and accurate to-go orders. Order through Uber Eats or Door Dash. You will be pleasantly surprised. They add all the extras you will need to enjoy your sushi. The tempura and gyoza has always been hot when it arrived at my door. That's how I know how fast they are. They are well organized and friendly. You can even call in your order for pick up. The hosts make sure you know exactly what is coming on your roll. This is a local family run business and I just love giving them my money. The sushi speaks for itself. Trapper's isn't actually a place you go to for quality, authentic sushi. More of a restaurant you visit out of convenience, because you're desperately craving something that resembles sushi or ignorance. My visit a cocktail of the 3. My party of 4 , all craving sushi but not wanting to drive more than a mile decided on Trapper's sushi located in the Kohl's parking lot. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, the staff was attentive and accommodating. (We moved tables to take advantage of Happy Hour in the Bar.) Off the HH menu we ordered combo tempura, 3 for 25 rolls, and a puyallup roll. Tempura was crispy and you could tell the oil was not dirty. But the syrupy overly sweet tempura sauce completely overpowered the light, crispy fried vegetables. Sushi platter came out and the first impression was that there was a whole lot of rice and not much more. Avocado was paper thin and the crab meat was sparse. We did have a good amount of scallops on one of the rolls but we will get into that later. This was like get a sandwich with one slice of ham but 2 giant slabs of bread bad. But we tried it. The rice was gummy, again, overly sweet and warm. Still desperate to like this place we tried the rest of the rolls. All mediocre at best but what ruined the experience for us was the scallops. Not exactly cooked but definitely not fresh. Served lukewarm on top of what looks to resemble a California roll. Being the pushovers that we are, we finished the meal and each headed home pretty disappointed and the quality of the meal. 2 days later, all four of us have been spending half of our day with the toilet and the other half of our dehydrated and exhausted. I will not say that this establishment gave us food poisoning but the coincidence of all 4 of us being sick with the same symptoms after eating here makes me suspect. read more

I'm usually a customer at the North Bend location have eaten there, many times, and gotten things to go. This location presented a unengaged and dismissive hostess at the door. My calamari appetizer to go order was not portioned the same as I have gotten in the North Bend location several times. I was handed a greasy to go container with exactly 4 bites in it. When I got home with my sushi, that was incorrect as well. Manager ended up getting called to the front to give me a refund for the calamari, but only after my third attempt to engage with the hostess that I had an issue. read more

I've had Trapper's many times, although it's not authentic it's pretty decent for sushi! I'm disappointed in the quality & the effort they put into making the sushi! I don't like to complain right then and there... so here it is. The Eelectric Roll is probably the best out of 3, only thing is you can't taste the eel. Also, Bonnie lake roll isn't even all that, so I'm not even sure why it's so popular no offense, the way they shred the imitation crab on top does not compliment the sushi what so ever, you pick up a piece and all the crab falls off what's the point. Lastly the trump roll is usually my go to roll, unfortunately it was a sad looking roll, barley had any seared salmon on top. Towards the end I decided I wanted a couple orders of the seared salmon nigiri, 20 min later I get a salmon that looks like they popped it in the microwave, super lightly seared no mayo or nothing on top and also super chewy and fishy....NEVER AGAIN. I saw a photo of it on here and it def did not look like what I got. Service was good at least, she made the effort to have her manager make our seared salmon since it was such a small order...I'm disappointed on why a "manager" would think it's okay to serve what she served us.
