I failed to get a picture as my meal was so delicious I ate it too quickly. Sumo Sushi is freshly prepared, with quality ingredients. They always provide excellent service. My go to meal which I highly recommend is the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. This meal is large and sharable. You receive a freshly prepared chicken teriyaki, white rice, four pieces of California roll, Gyoza, tempura shrimp, salad and a wonderful soup that has seaweed and tofu in it. I usually call in ahead and take my order to go. This is a great restaurant and worth the drive to Maple Valley. read more

We visited Sumo Sushi on a Saturday evening around 7pm and had no trouble finding a table for our group of three. I sat on the booth side, but even with the added seat cushion, the bench was uncomfortable throughout the meal. The sushi, however, was very tasty. Service was quick, everyone at the table enjoyed their rolls, and we all agreed the pricing was very reasonable with generous portions. I ordered the caterpillar roll (eel, cucumber, and crab topped with avocado and special sauce) and the Maple Valley roll (salmon and avocado topped with tuna, crab, and tobiko). Both were fresh and flavorful. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd happily return if I were nearby. read more

I have dined at Sumo Sushi twice now. I have had enjoyable experiences on both visits. The sushi is very fresh and quite tasty. It's my favorite stop after a day at the lake. The staff are friendly and professional and the service has been satisfactory both times. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the health rating is excellent. Sumo sushi is on par to becoming my regular "Go-to" sushi spot. The Mega Salmon Roll is delicious! The tempura has the perfect crunch and flavor. read more

Been here at least 6 times now, and the quality of the food decreases each time. They took some items off the menu and the variety isn't as big, especially after the price increase. The service has been a miss the last two times. Probably because it was rush hour, but still doesn't excuse the somewhat poor attitude. read more

First order from Sumo Sushi and WOW. Best quality sushi we've had so far. Ordered Samari Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Cali Roll and Tuna Handroll. All very fresh, bright and delicious! Can't wait to order in next time. read more

I was reluctant to try this place since it's quite deep in maple valley, but I'm so glad I did! You're immediately greeted by their staff and directed to either the seating or waitlist. The restaurant seating isn't too spacious and there is a bar near the entrance. My friend and I got the sashimi bento and sumo maki roll! The sashimi bento is completely randomized by the chef, but will always come with some form of rolls, tempura and salad. The sumo maki consists of tempura, spicy crab and is topped with seared scallops. It was sort of underwhelming in comparison to the sashimi bento, which was very good. I'll definitely be back for the sashimi bento! read more

What a pleasant surprise! The sushi was fresh and the special rolls were plentiful. I always order a California roll to compare it to my favorite sushi joints and give an accurate rating anyone can understand. I give the Cali roll an 8 out of 10, the cuts were a bit uneven and I prefer each cut to be the same size the quality was a 9 l, but the uneven cuts dropped it down to an 8. Super fresh and tasty. I ordered 2 specialty rolls that had all the ingredients I enjoy and thought they were excellent. The freshness and quality were very impressive. The overall experience was well worth the price and the staff is super friendly. I'll be back for sure. read more

Not bad. Solid sushi experience. I got the Salmon Lovers roll and another roll. Came on a late Tuesday evening and the restaurant wasn't too busy. A table that was seated after us were served their full meal before we received any of our menu items. When the sushi came out decently presented, but the looks were deceiving. The sushi didn't taste at all fresh. Not only did the quality of food disappoint, but for the price you pay the portions were also not worth the cost. Doubt I'll try this place again. read more

$40 for warm nigiri, old food at the bar that tasted rancid. You also have to wait 15mins between each time you order.

Food is decent. We got several rolls and a chirashi bowl, which all were flavorful and very fresh! Unfortunately, I will not dine in again and opt to only do takeouts. The service was far too slow. We took our sweet time to look through the entire menu 3 times but still needed to flag our server down to take our order. The floor was an absolute mess from last party and it felt pretty gross just sitting next to it. The food came out in a reasonable time, but by the time it came out, we were still missing our water, drinks, and utensils. We just sat there looking at our food lol. I'm not sure how any server can miss our table having nothing on it. read more

The fish here was top notch. Service was quick. I would come back for the sushi combo. Decent selection of sake and beer.

HOLY CYBERNETIC SUSHI ROLL! Let me tell you about Sumo Sushi, where the precision rivals Robocop's targeting system and the service is more efficient than OCP's finest law enforcement cyborg! Like Robocop scanning for criminals, I entered to find the sushi chefs operating with mechanical perfection, their knife movements more precise than Robocop's auto-targeting pistol. The head chef, who I'm convinced is running on the same operating system as Robocop, doesn't just slice fish - he ENFORCES fish justice with the same unwavering commitment to excellence that our favorite cyborg cop brings to Old Detroit. Their signature "Robocop Roll" (I'm not making this up) comes with a warning: "Dead or alive, you're eating this roll!" It's wrapped in metal-sheened nori that's as shiny as Robocop's armor and packed with ingredients so fresh, they make Dick Jones' corporate schemes look ancient. When you order it, the entire staff shouts "YOUR MOVE, CREEP" while dramatically pointing chopsticks at your table. The wasabi here hits harder than Robocop's door-breaching entrance moves. One microscopic dab and I started reciting prime directives about proper sushi consumption. The ginger is served in little containers that look suspiciously like Robocop's data spike compartment. The soy sauce sommelier patrols the dining room like Robocop in the streets of Detroit, dispensing justice in the form of perfectly calibrated sauce-to-fish ratios. I watched him arrest a guy for dunking nigiri rice-side down - the perp was sentenced to watch an educational video about proper sushi etiquette. Five stars? I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR! (Though honestly, it's way more expensive, but worth every circuit... I mean, cent.) P.S. Their spicy tuna is so hot, it makes ED-209's firepower look like a water pistol. Even Clarence Boddicker would tap out after one bite. P.P.S. The bill comes delivered by a server who dramatically walks through smoke while announcing "THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION" in that classic Robocop monotone. And yes, their tip calculator includes all three prime directives plus a fourth: "Always tip at least 20%, creep." P.P.P.S. The bathroom has a motion sensor that screams "YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY" before automatically flushing. I'm still having flashbacks. read more

Delicious! Soo many roll options, complimentary miso soup, beautiful presentation. Servers were lovely.

Hidden sushi gem & I want to gate-keep this sushi restaurant but they deserve to eat acknowledgment. We had the freshest & delicious dinner experience. Went on a double date and all the sushi platters were presented nicely and the raw fish was fresh. We also ordered hand rolls, tempura & udon (as it was a rainy & cold night) and the flavors were burying in our mouths. Service was attentive and friendly staffs. Ambience was lovely with fun crowds and there was seating available at the bar. We've also enjoyed beer, cocktails & beverages. If you're in this side of the town, it's a must and you may find us dining there. Hope you get to visit sumo sushi. Bon appetite! read more

Maple Valley? Good sushi? My friend's eyes were filled with less skepticism than his voice. I was less uncertain after reading such glowing reviews and after promising to drive (and the drive was actually quite peaceful) I was able to make my case for this latest restaurant and I am glad I did! Located in a commercial building complex with plenty of parking and deceptively easy navigation Sumo Sushi is a gem! Inside you'll find deep seated benches with comfortable back support, little tables that can be rearranged to accommodate different party sizes, and a good sized sushi counter. The chalkboard art on the walls was captivating. I marveled at the blue fin tuna diagram and appreciated the info! The televisions were placed where we each had one to look at but they weren't particularly distracting. Our servers were wonderful ladies. After stating my particular food allergen I was recommended the saju roll after I chose the mega crunch roll. I should have asked for recommendations for both! The mega crunch is truly named well. It is very crunchy! It is also too big to put in my mouth so messy as well. Messier than even the most crunchiest crunch rolls I've had in the past. I couldn't taste much except the sauce and flakes. The saju roll, though, was incredible! It was perfectly balanced with savory fish and tobiko harmonized with the sweet ponzu style sauce on top. Each bite was extraordinary! The nigiri was also amazing. I particularly loved the salmon - buttery, tender, oh so good! My friend also had a pretty amazing time with red snapper, toro, and sea urchin. We ended the meal with him ordered the Japanese roll cake and me with the tempura fried ice cream. Last time my friend had Japanese roll cake was in Tokyo so this didn't quite meet his expectations, but he said it was tasty. The tempura ice cream reminded me of Mexican fried ice cream, which is not my particular cup of tea but I'm glad I tried it! Upon leaving my friend told me he had been pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. I am very glad we came! read more

Moved to Maple Valley a couple of months ago and saw this place on my way home. Finally got to try it out this last week. Went to dinner with my wife and son are and there seem to be a steady crowd trickling in starting at about 5 PM. We were seated and greeted immediately and the menu was incredible. We selected five rolls, dynamite and a hand roll. The fish was fresh and delicious and the rice was perfectly done. Inside of the restaurant was very clean and our server was very attentive. Overall, a great experience and I look forward to our next visit. read more

So happy to have found a really great sushi restaurant right in our community! Loved being greeted by all the staff when you come in. We ordered three rolls Superstar had cream cheese a a very light tempura batter. I'm not a real fan of cream cheese in rolls and felt it was too much but the tempura was so light I would definitely order again and just request less cream cheese or none. They will customize any roll to your liking. The saju was very flavorful with the pop of the tobico and a delicate finish of sweet sauce that was just right. I don't remember the other sumo special roll but it had tofu paper? inside instead of seaweed which was barely noticeable but a little more gummy than seaweed and less flavored. It was also a great roll. Everything was so fresh. My new favorite sushi place! read more

Fast service, large menu. You're paying for what you get here so it's good for some cheap grub but not everything is good.

As soon as I entered, the sushi chefs greeted me along with smiles. I was able to get a table quickly on a dinner night. The service was quick and efficient, I didn't wait long for my otoro and chutoro sashimi (YUM)... my seared scallop and seared salmon rolls arrived soon after! For one person, I paid $80, not counting tax and tip... but I felt it was expected based off of the quality and freshness of the fish. All very tasty and I shall be back for more! read more

Did not get what I ordered from Door Dash. I called and could not get thru. Line was put on busy. Terrible service. Not ordering ever again

I was pleasantly surprised by this spot! It was tucked away in the little spot which always means it's good. I pre ordered take out and I haven't been before so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect with some of the roles and bento box! I got the chicken katsu bento dinner box which is A LOT OF FOOD -Miso Soup -Small salads (just lettuce and some dressing ) -Two tempura shrimp and some onion rings -Two Gyroz -Cup of rice -4pc California rolls -Large thin chicken breast done in katsu style All this was $18! Lots and lots of food! I can't complain about the portions. I will say it felt like a lot of fried on top of fried. I felt it was a little under seasoned. It didn't have that Umami crunch flavor though and the tempura was semi eh with the flavoring. There was this sauce that was okay Then another watery one that wasn't anything so I was confused what it was for as it didn't add flavor. It was just oil I think? ---------------------------------------------- The sushi rolls were yummy! CRUNCH &MAPLE VALLEY My mistake I got the crunch which was more fried food. Loved it though! Really great! The maple valley was interesting. Lots of tobiko. If you love it, great! I didn't enjoy the crab much. I thought it made it hard to eat. However, taking it off make it super delicious! Loved the salmon but the tuna on top then could be dipped in soy sauce which was *chefs kiss* Loved it! I would come back but definitely would change my order up a bit next time. read more

This was my first time visiting Sumo Sushi. I was delighted by everything. We arrived late afternoon on Saturday, December 31st. The restaurant was very clean and well staffed. I felt welcomed and not rushed. The server took our drink order and proceeded to deliver just minutes later. We got the mango lemonade which was refreshing. Our server asked if we had any questions and of course, I did. I wanted to know the difference between the Maki-Mino and the Temaki as several had the same name (i.e. Spicy Tuna) she explained the Temaki is the hand roll. Well, now I know the official name!! We ended up ordering the Dragon and Spiderr roll, the Caterpillar and Samurai and finally the Sumo Delight. The Dragon and Sumo Delight were definitely our favorites but all were tasty and so fresh. I'm also happy to add no tummy ache or strange feeling later...which honestly rarely happens but I feel it deserves its rightful place in a review. I will DEFINITELY be back!! read more
