Birthday Lunch 3/4 wanted AYCE so we had to sit at the sushi bar. Server literally ignored me (except to tell me I couldn't eat off my parties plates....duh!) When she finally took my order - it took 10 minutes to get my app AND 40+ minutes to get my 1 roll! The rest of my party was literally ready to leave by the time I got it. Sushi Chef Sophia? was amazing with my family, made them great rolls & even did her special "seared salmon" for them. It was the children's father bday & he loved it! She even made a super cute (& delicious) mochi plate with whip & brought it around for him with four! spoons..... When I got bill , I saw that they charged a 3% service fee and a 3% credit card transaction fee!! Build it into your cost!!I don't wanna see it if you have your price a dollar an item more. I'm not gonna notice it but when you make me pay a percentage, it just pisses me off. So I'm sure our server thought that I was just gonna pay for my two items and that the rest of it would be all on another ticket and she would get a big tip from them even though she did very little for them - It was the sushi chef who did almost everything.. let me tell you our server pissed off the wrong person because I paid the check. I cash tipped our chef very well. Our waitress can complain to the manager about."her tip" and maybe they'll give her the 6% which she didn't even earn. I've had good experiences and bad experiences at trappers. I think I just need to learn to only go to, Chef Sean at Sushi Kaunta!!!

I had a wonderful first experience at Trapper's. Adrianna was my server, and oh wow this girl is GOOD! She recommended the Red Raspberry Lemon Drop (YUM!) and when I mentioned I couldn't find my favorite sushi roll (Philadelphia) she kindly explained that at Trapper's it's called the New York roll, and pointed to it on the menu. Adrianna was super kind and sweet during the whole experience, and even made sure my water cup never reached the half way point, but made sure to give me space to breathe and enjoy my food. The ONLY reason this place isn't getting 5 stars, is when the host tried to sit me, she couldn't find any menus and when she went to ask the manager where she could get more, the manager replied with: "and why is this my problem?" I was appalled at that interaction.

Always a great lunch (or dinner) date! The sushi is always fresh, their service is great! We even had a new server, who was great, but he was being shadowed to ensure we had great service!

Craving some sushi while at southcenter mall so I stopped at Trappers for take out. The restaurant itself was not busy but service was slow. As I waited for my to-go order I seen the host ask dine in guests to wait in the lobby to be seated "about ten mins" which is the same amount of time I was told for my order to be ready and it took at least 25 minutes. Tables were already bussed so the only thing I could see was them notifying the server that there was a new table to serve in their area. I got the trappers roll, some scallops were overcooked but you can't really mess up fried shrimp rolled into rice so my sushi was good. There is a 2% service fee added to your bill that seems sneaky and the service evening dining out was not great nor worth the price imo.

Stopped by here on the way back home from a trip. I've been to a couple of other locations, and have always enjoyed the sushi, and it was no different here. We enjoyed our dinner here as well, and service was very friendly.

Great service! Food was mid. The karagae was funky looking but the sauce was 10/10. The sauce saved everything we ordered.

It had an effortless relaxed vibe and the perfect amount of other diners there that it neither felt too busy nor too quiet. Our food went along the same lines. My boyfriend and I were done with an event and were looking for a bite to eat pretty late-ish and we saw this place was still open. We got there around an hour before close. When we arrived, it took a little bit to get noticed and the waiter wasn't really the most friendly and was telling us we should order fast as the kitchen was doing a last call. He didn't even tell us how long we had so we just put our order in. We got the two yakitori trio combo (happy hour), takoyaki, scallop taco, beef udon, udon, and iced white peach green tea. We were getting our order fast but it was like one by one which was a bit disorientating. The food was pretty tasty. The iced tea was refreshing and definitely got good flavor. The tofu being cold in the udon was a bit off-putting as well. The yakitori, takoyaki and scallop tacos were absolutely delicious. My boyfriend loved the beef in his beef udon and looks forward to ordering their gyudon. I want to order the oyakodon for sure next time. Hopefully the service and experience will be better next time. Our waiter didn't really check in too much with us but he did refill our water once. The inside is gorgeous and definitely has date night vibes. It is dim-lit but enough lighting to get some pictures. They have tables with different types of seating available for party sizes. They have sauces and spices to put on your yakitori that pair very well.

The chewy bounciness at my favorite Japanese locations is almost physics-defying. The texture is simply divine. In comparison, this mouth feel is a cheap knock-off. The broth is not bad. The dashi is not as satisfying, but this was drinkable without being bland or too oily. I was more impressed by the fried sides. The giant potato croquette was excellent. The level of crisp and mushiness of the inside was on-point. The chicken was also nicely crispy and juicy. Of course, the fact that it was dark meat automatically gave it a head start over a lot of American fried chicken filets. The zucchini was good. The pumpkin was a bit dried out, but I think that was partly because I ate it last. Overall, this is quite authentic, from the way the noodles are prepared, to the way customers self-serve the sides. They even have a tray return. There are certain Japanese main-stays that I wanted to see, which are missing. Like, some kind of fish in the tempura line would've been nice. One of the biggest localizations is probably the veggie udon, which is violently un-Japanese looking with its carrots and broccoli and would certainly ruin the mouth feel of a smooth bowl of udon. If there's one plant root you want in an authentic veggie sanuki udon, I'd argue it should be grated daikon radish, which I don't think they have. But well, having too many unfamiliar things might be off-putting. That grated ginger at the end is already dangerous enough lol.

It looked like plenty of empty tables, but there was a backlog of people on the waitlist. I tried the QR code to get on the waitlist, but wouldn't let me enter a number less than "2" for my party. I asked a server, and she said it's a new system. I could just enter "2" and wait or just sit at the bar. I didn't know what to expect, since this is a chain restaurant. But the service was great. Super friendly (and genuine). Food was brought out very quickly. Chicken karaage came in in very large pieces. I'd prefer smaller pieces actually. Each piece took 2-3 bites to finish. The portion was hefty. Only four pieces, but i'm sure it was 1/3 to 1/2 lb. of meat at least. Hot and fresh out of the fryer. Good flavor, but I could use a longer marinade maybe. Gyudon was very good. Very soft texture. Pickled ginger was a nice touch. A little heavy handed with the green onions. I actually scooped out most of them. Even though the rice was piping hot, I pretty much inhaled the dish. I've been craving something like this for a while. I've had other donburi where the rice was barely warm. So this was a pleasant surprise. This dish hit the spot. All in all, this is a fair value for the quality. However, next time I'd opt for a table. If you sit at the bar, the music is pretty loud and their blender is pretty loud. For Seattle area prices, this is a reliable spot. I'll be back (if I don't rage quit my job and move across the country).

The yakisoba was great. Some of the veggies were a little on the soft side but much of it was crisp and fresh tasting. It's easy to make teriyaki too sweet or too salty. This was just right. Service: We arrived around 1:00 PM and there was only one server on duty. After walking in, we had to wait a short while before being greeted, though the overall service itself was still quite good. Flavor: First off, many of their previous staple dishes are gone. There were only four types of beef available, and they all looked pretty much identical... Many offal items, like tripe, have completely disappeared. The reason traditional Sichuan hot pot relies on heavy oil and high spice is, to an extent, to mask the strong gamey notes of offal. But with the limited selection available now, the offal's raw taste remains even after boiling. On top of that, the beef completely fell apart in the pot. If quality control is lacking at this level, even switching to an all-you-can-eat model won't turn things around.
