Hands down the best Mediterranean cuisine in the South Bay. Perfect place to have a family gathering or friends because there's various family meal options. Their chicken kebab was juicy, the koobideh was tender, the salad was delicious and that pita bread was fresh out the oven! 5 stars for me for great service, great food, and beautiful ambience!

Beautiful interior that is warm and inviting while also being sparkling clean without feeling sterile. The service is excellent and both times we dined, our servers were attentive and quick to answer questions and make adjustments. The food is exceptionally delicious and we enjoyed everything we ordered, with special mention of the chicken barg, which is so juicy and flavorful. A+

We came here with family on a Friday for dinner. We made a reservation and sat as soon as we walked in. It was busy but they were still very attentive to our table. We placed our order and the food came out about 15 minutes later. It was very delicious and very good quality. Everything was very hot and made fresh. We enjoyed our meal.

We were thrilled to see Toranj in the Southbay bc we love their food at their Westwood location. This restaurant is beautiful. Great lighting, arches in their design, stylish decor, and airier than their smaller WW spot...love the vibe here! Came here for Sunday dinner - the food did not disappoint. Fantastic! Everything was outstanding. The filet mignon melted in my mouth. The service was excellent. Make reservations bc the word's clearly out - lively and popular but not overwhelmingly so. Thoroughly enjoyable!

04-2026 We had a fantastic meal at the new Toranj location in Manhattan Beach, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots in the South Bay. The restaurant has a beautiful, modern yet welcoming vibe--perfect for a casual family dinner or a night out. A huge shoutout to our servers Mina and Oshani--they were absolutely amazing! So friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food. They made us feel right at home and helped guide us through the menu with great recommendations. We started with a spread of appetizers that were all hits: * The hummus was creamy and perfectly seasoned. * Persian eggplant was flavorful and delicious (that sautéed eggplant with mint and kashk is addictive!). * Marinated olives had a wonderful balance of herbs and tang. * The veggie plate was fresh and generously portioned. For our mains, we went with the family plate, which came with a crisp Greek salad, loubia (the green bean and tomato rice with tender meat was excellent), and polo (the saffron rice was aromatic and cooked to perfection). Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and homemade. We also tried the homemade lemonade, and it was a total hit--refreshing, not too sweet, and the perfect complement to the meal. Toranj delivers classic Persian flavors done right in a stylish setting. The portions are generous, the ingredients are high quality, and the service is top-notch. We left completely satisfied and already planning our next visit. If you're craving authentic Persian cuisine in Manhattan Beach, look no further--Toranj is a winner! Highly recommend.

Had such a great experience at Toranj! The food was honestly amazing--everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The appetizers were a great start (definitely recommend the hummus and kashk bademjan), and the kabobs were cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and super flavorful. Even the rice was done so well. Don't skip dessert either--the saffron ice cream and baklava were both so good and the perfect way to end the meal. The ambiance really stands out too. The decor is beautiful and thoughtfully done, giving it a more upscale, inviting feel that makes it great for a nice night out. Service was also great--attentive, friendly, and added to the overall positive experience. That said, it is definitely on the expensive side, and parking in the area can be tough, so plan ahead. Overall, really delicious food, great service, and a beautiful setting--just be ready for the price and a little parking challenge!

If you're unsure what to order, I recommend a family plate to share.

There is a very elegant feel when you enter the restaurant. Modern and sleek decor as well as live music set the mood instantly. The service is impeccable and the food presentation is stunning. I'm a huge Persian cuisine kinda guy so I wanted to sample a variety of food. We opted for Family plate 3 so that we could taste kebabs galore. The chicken and filet kebabs were succulent and flavorful. Likewise, the chicken koobideh (ground chicken) was delicious with an easy to digest texture. The beef koonideh (ground beef) was a bit under seasoned imo. The plate is complimented with a generous portion of rice. In addition, it comes with salad. However, we upgraded to Shirazi salad cuz that's just what any Persian food lover would do. Shirazi is fresh and lemony. I love to consume and compare fesenjoon stews. This one was a little more liquid phase and tart than I am accustomed to but tasty nonetheless. Eggplant appetizer had nice flavor and perfect to dip the bread in. The bread is massive and the portion generous. I'm used to the eggplant served as a dip but this was served as disc that had a cat food vibe about it. Don't misunderstand me, the flavor was good but some onion slices might've been nice. I went mocktail this lovely evening and opted for green breath--a refreshing cucumber and mint drink--and highly recommend it. I'll definitely will return to sample other dishes.

Maral was the sweetest sever ever! My table and I (3 people) ordered the family platter 3, and it was perfect, with a bit of left over available to take home too! The meats were seasoned perfectly We also got the eggplant dip to go along with the complimentary pita The salad was perfect and i loved the dressing they used. It was perfect acidity. Ambiance is very nice, clean, and good noise level. Gives off the vibe that we are at a resort.

A fine elegant dining place. We didn't have reservation for 6, but they still accommodated us as long as we finished our dinner at the designated time. That's a 5 star for excellent service. We ordered appetizer & main entrees. We had Tahdig & Lentil soup for starters. Our mains were Lamb Shank, Combo & Beef Kubideh, and Boneless Chicken Thigh. Every dish were perfect to our taste except for the Tahdig which we found a little bit tough. Overall, it was a great experience on this restaurant and will definitely be back again.

    Happy Valentine's Day, sweet people.

I snagged an early Valentine's Day dinner reservation for 3 of us. I think we were seated at the best table in the house, I'll commit it to memory for our next visit. Mina was our server. She was a gem putting up with our questions and desire to learn some Persian words for our favorite dishes. Let's just say my new favorite is: Kashke bademjan. Boom! That was just a few minutes into perusing the menu - we dove in: hummus, olives, yogurt, falafel, lentil soup, tabbouleh, spritzy Raspberry refreshers and Rombauer Chardonnay. All of it was delicious, and fresh and beautifully presented. Plenty to share. We were pretty much full, but decided to order entrees because, well, leftovers would be super awesome. Filet mignon shish kebab, Juicy chicken (their signature dish and they had me at "Cherry rice"), and Lamb shank. Again, all yummy delicious. Yes, leftovers for sure. The setting is pleasing...a bright but understated esthetic. Except for the amazing aromas nothing screams restaurant in the dining area. There's a small bar, 4 seats - perfect for a quick bite or a full meal. Staff was friendly and happy to share their favorites and answer questions. Parking is tight, the small lot will of course get full during the prime dining hours. I saw only 1 space for disabled parking. Street parking can get difficult. Tonight was lively, the restaurant was full but it wasn't overly noisy. Dishes were served clean and perfectly placed. A single dainty pink rose was placed on top of some appetizers and drinks, so sweet. As we left the restaurant, red roses were offered to those who wanted them. Lovely experience, yummy food, friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

By far my new favorite restaurant I got the dish which was the juicy chicken and my husband got the beef koobideh. Both were so tender and juicy, and the flavor was amazing.! The restaurant is so cute with the most beautiful ambiance! The servers are all amazing and so nice! Food is amazing I will definitely be back over and over again.!

Was in the area for work and wanted to try something different than what I usually have (Asian food) and stumbled across this beautiful place. It was nice inside with a full bar and the staff were so friendly. My waiter recommended the steak filet kabob and it was delicious! I'd love to go back and try some appetizers

The Mediterranean menu is inventive and amazing top to bottom. Start by heading to nomadsouthbay.com and sign up for their email list to get a free hummus appetizer. After the hummus, we split five dishes for the four of us. The roasted cauliflower is straight forward and delicious, served atop a lovely tahini and turmeric sauce. The kale salad was light and delightful. The lamb kabob plate was exactly what you want in Mediterranean food. The steak atop risotto, a favorite from Jackson's (the prior establishment here), was near perfect. Seemed like there were only two people working the floor and they seemed a bit ruffled. Overall, for the limited number of patrons who were in the place, I thought we'd get more attention, or at least get it quicker. Once nice, thing, they have some specials daily. My wife ordered the tacos and they were good. I ordered the steak and fries. The steak was good but had a bit of sinew in it, making several pieces chewy. When I needed a refill, I had to flag down one of the two servers. When I wanted our bill, I had to flag down the server. Just seemed odd, for a place that only had 6 or 8 tables occupied (at this point) that we would have to flag them down for service. As said, overall, disappointed and wasn't the mood we wanted to be in before our matinee. Hope your experience is better than ours and...enjoy!!!

However, since I've been back a few times, the consistency and care is extremely lacking. I always order the chicken caesar sandwich which comes as a wrap (I love this). It has always come in "wrap" form, despite falling apart quite a bit since the first time, but when I ordered it tonight it came in taco form with a wrap on top of the "taco". Much more difficult to eat, and it was clear there was no/minimal dressing within the sandwich. I also found a chicken bone in my meal, which makes me wonder about the standards staff are held to. I would not be writing this review if not for the chicken bone (picture attached), as the food is quite good and the staff gives exceptional service. Though the flavors in the food are nothing short of incredible (especially the sauce that comes with the Caesar sando) I am concerned about the care/storage of the food placed for customer consumption.

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
