Every time I visit this location, it ends in disappointment. The only reason I continue coming is because it's the closest location to my home, while the next nearest one is about 15-20 miles away. My daughter and I visit CAVA at least once a week, but our last few experiences at this location have been extremely disappointing. Last week, I came in and was helped by an employee I believe was named Ashley. She was working the front register. I politely asked for extra feta cheese in a small container that was sitting right behind her on the counter. She looked at me and said they were too busy and could not provide it. I even let her know I was willing to pay extra, but she said it was a "new rule" that they could not give extra condiments on the side if they were busy. When I asked where that policy was posted, she said it was just something they recently came up with. When I then asked for the store manager's name, she immediately began apologizing because she clearly knew the interaction was handled poorly. I visited again this week, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately it was more of the same. After being rung up, I asked for extra sauce on the side. The cashier huffed and puffed as though it was a major inconvenience, even though there was only one person behind me and the restaurant was otherwise empty. She then slid the container across the counter toward me. When I asked if she had really just slid it to me, she sarcastically picked it up and handed it to me directly. Beyond the attitude from staff, there are always basic issues at this location. The napkin and fork station is often empty, and employees rarely mention the bread that comes with the meal unless you specifically ask for it. During my last visit, when I asked about the bread, I was told they "had to cut it in the back." It always seems like there is another excuse instead of simply providing good service. I understand restaurants get busy, and I always try to be patient and understanding. However, when I am paying $20+ for a single bowl, I expect a much higher level of professionalism and courtesy. My toddler loved the crunchy fried pita chips as well as the soft regular ones. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The bad: I wish we had one closer to me so I could order catering delivery! When I entered that I could pick-up for catering the closest location that came up was the Hollywood location rather than the El Segundo one. I hate myself a little for sleeping on this place, as it is wonderful in many ways, like the many constellations that appear in Zeu's galaxy. For example, we all know that the economy has become demanding, as in expects us to have two gigs, and a passive income stream to cope with it. But this place stills offers a good lunch for under 15.00 dollars, which is honestly, not only a good deal, but a refreshing deal as one can go here, even if one does not have the Golden Touch of Midas. Like today, I got a very filling bowl, with chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice, romaine lettuce, hummus- traditional- tzaiki, olives, pickles, and some other stuff, that made a welcomed melody of flavors. I also got pita strips on top, which gave my bowl a delighful crunch, so textures play a factor in its deliciousness too! For no other reason, this place deserves its own statue in Greece's Pantheon or Circe's Hall of Trophies, which I am sure she has, not only a pen for the warriors she turned to swine. Another wonderful aspect of this place, is that, like Chipotle and other such joints, it allows you to customize your plate, which means that what you can have for lunch really is incomputable. I think I heard somewhere, that no two games of poker can be the same, because with 52 cards in the deck the possibilities of game play run into the millions or more. Thus, the combination for lunch at this place, might literally stretch the cosmos. I am trying to recall my math class of yesteryears and perhaps the word I am looking for is permutation, as the permutations in a bowl from Cava are quite literally incalculable., less one has the wisdom of Athena. So, this means, that all types of eaters are welcomed from Vegans to Omnivores and every type of biter in between, including those wearing Gladiator sandals. I do not recall, going to this place, and them not having a long line. Well except this one time where I went and waited for the joint to open. But to be honest, as soon as they opened, me and like three other folks stepped in, with measured steps, not like the Greeks who barged into Troy. I really cannot find fault in this place, except that I do not live close to one. I do not have to travel the length and woe of an Odyssey to get to one, for sure, not, but still one is at least 20 minutes from me, so it does kind of feel like a Herculean task. I came here with my family for the first time and if I'm going to be honest, I'm not in a rush to come back. The food was great, super flavorful and fresh but the wait time is a bit much. Yes, this place is very popular which is why there is a huge line but with the amount of staff, you wouldn't expect to wait about 45 minutes to get to the front of the line from the door. From my point of view, the slow process is from the staff unfortunately. When ordering, each employee that would take over the next step of your bowl kept forgetting to add something because they're trying to move too fast or they would go somewhere else to help another employee while in the middle of building your bowl, so that would cause you to have to wait for them and of course causes the slow down in the line. The employees are also not that friendly here. They come off as hostile and annoyed. Maybe they're overwhelmed from the amount of people coming in but it just seems like you're causing an inconvenience if you ask them a question about the food or for certain toppings. It made me not want to be there anymore at all and my whole family felt this way too, unfortunately. I may try a different location, but from this experience, I'm in no rush. read more

Busy Sunday night so I understand the line. I waited 20+ mins to order. We get to the meat portion, I order steak, and I'm told they are out of steak. He tells me that they will not be making more. I was there at 6:25pm they do not close until 10:30pm and yet they're out. After waiting 20+ to order! There was no sign to indicate they were sold out, not one worker stated that to anyone in line! And instead of explaining or apologize the worker rudely says "no we are not making more either" even though they do not close for another 3 hours. Horrible experience. The one staff member there deserves a gold medal- he gets 5 stars. The management, however, was extremely disappointing. We came in around 9 pm, and he was completely alone running the entire assembly line and cashier station, which he mentioned he had never done before. A huge line formed behind us, and he handled the situation wonderfully, especially considering he was very new and left to manage everything on his own. I also saw two other staff members walk right past the line without helping or acknowledging the situation. It made the lack of management and support very obvious. That said, the restaurant itself was clean, the food was delicious, and the portions were absolutely worth the price. Ambiance was good for a to-go location. The Blueberry Lavender drink was also excellent. Two stars because one employee at the register was genuinely holding it down and deserves credit for keeping things moving. I really wish I had gotten his name because he was the only one who seemed to be making an effort. The people working in the back also appeared to be doing their jobs efficiently, but everyone handling the customer flow up front was doing a terrible job. The employee working toppings had zero sense of urgency and moved like molasses. What frustrated me most was that he told me they didn't have any sides available. When I questioned him and called him on it, he finally went to the back and, surprise, came back with the sides. So they were there the whole time--he just didn't bother checking until he was challenged. He was also wearing his hat so low over his face that he had to tilt his head up just to see customers, which came across as unprofessional. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience. The Carson location is significantly better and provides much better service. The one bright spot was the guy at the register, who was doing his best to keep things running despite everything else. i am a cava fanatic. i love cava. every time i came home from school, i had to get a bowl. every time i went back to school, i brought it onto my flight with me to enjoy a bowl at school. majority of the time, my bowl is absolutely packed, with the infrequent exception of during busy times, which is understandable. i have had little issued with incorrect orders (although inevitable with the amount of times i come here), but am always still so satisfied with my food. i have only ever ordered for pickup, but still am faced with great service with each interaction. read more

The hummus(s) are flavorful and the black lentils are a nice touch, but the rice choices are the best. Lots of fresh vegetables and meats and greens selections as well. The only thing I noticed are the staff members the ones serving on the line. They are not too friendly or "smiley" at all. This was a bit of a turn off. Especially the girl cashier helping us. It may be because this location specially is very busy and the workers are under paid? This is just a question. I hadn't been to Cava for a few months so I visited this past week. Service was SUPER SLOW at 3:40pm (an off hour!); there were only two police officers in front of me. I asked for the lamb meatball bowl. The guy offered me rice or lentils or half and half. I opted for the half and half. When I asked for arugula, he tells me there is an "up-charge" because I can only have two. My option was to get rice and salad, not lentils and salad. I asked why "half + half" doesn't equal ONE there and still have arugula. Goodness; it's not a lot of greens. He said that's three. Okay. I guess my math is off. Half + half + 1 does not equal two. He gave me four little meatballs. I asked if I could have a bit of the roasted veggies. He said there would be an up-charge ($3.55 for a SPOON of veggies). I declined. I asked for feta; again an up-charge. At this point, I told him it was as if I was getting a pedicure in an Asian salon (I'm Asian so I am not being racist, just factual). By the time I was at the register, I noticed my bowl was HALF of what it used to be when I ordered! He certainly didn't mention an up-charge for either of the police officers when he loaded THEIR bowls full. He then forgot to give me my dressing which I didn't notice until I got home. Flavor explosion! If you have not tried cava yet, you are missing out, it is definitely a must try. This fast casual dining spot is great for when you are looking for something healthier, light, yet filling at the same time. The ambiance was a bit hectic in my latest visit as it was dinner time, there was a long line but the employees were helpful and efficient. As for the food, I've only ever gotten their bowls and I am a fan of the harissa avocado bowl; sauce on the side so you can put as much as you want. All the different components work well together, you get good textures, spicy, sweet, salty, citrusy all in one, and the pita bread is a must to tie it all together. My bf got the steak and feta pita, and it was delicious as well, the feta was so good in it, and the portion was huge! Would definitely order again. Also they have their new spicy lamb meatballs that I was able to sample, and the flavors were definitely there, and you don't get that gaminess, but unfortunately the one I got was burnt so it left a bad after taste. I would love to try a freshly made one. Maybe next time I'll try to build my own bowl. All in all, I am a fan!
