I was the only customer there during my entire visit at what seemed to me to be a prime time to eat. Obviously there was plenty of available seating. Food was decent and prepared to order. Service was efficient but not what I'd call attentive or friendly. Only one guy working there, as far as I could tell. Restaurant is in very busy strip mall with crowded parking making it not easy. What an amazing experience at Falafel Queen here in El Segundo! This spot actually used to be a sushi place I frequented years ago, and while it's sad they didn't survive the pandemic, I couldn't be happier with what's here now. Falafel Queen is truly a gem. Their original location is in the Mid-Wilshire district (Pico & Redondo), and now they've brought their flavor to the South Bay. Today I got to meet Benito, the Latino owner with over 30+ years of experience in Mediterranean cuisine. He personally made my falafel sandwich to go, paired with their in-house chips, a fresh 8-oz hummus, and a guava soda drink (they've got a great variety of drinks to choose from). Everything is made fresh to order, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The menu is clear, well put together, and the ingredients are vibrant and delicious. Benito himself is warm, friendly, and easy to talk to -- you can feel his passion for food and hospitality. As someone who pays attention to food safety, I was impressed to see how well the kitchen operates, which made me appreciate it even more. The restaurant has both indoor and patio seating, it's located in a convenient shopping plaza, and parking is plentiful. I tried Falafel Queen recently due to the rave reviews, but sadly I felt very let down. I had the Chicken Shawarma plate and found it underwhelming. I was also disappointed that there was barely any chicken - it was just all rice and not much protein. The food quality didn't taste great either. Overall experience, not the best. We love this place! One of the best shawarmas I've ever had in my life. It is the sister location of the Westwood staple Falafel King. You have to get the beef and lamb Shawarma with cheese. I've been meaning to review this local restaurant because it's absolutely delicious and great portion size. I have only ordered the falafel plate and I have to say, it's the best falafel I have ever tasted and I have tried plenty! They are full of flavor and not dry at all. My husband picked up lunch from Falafel Queen and the first red flag was the odor. The food smell made my stomach turn. But I was starving and willing to give the food a try. However upon seeing the chicken kebab meal I needed to drink my root beer first to help my stomach not return my lunch. It was a big pile of soggy rice, weird potato chips which comprised of paper thin slices of potato with heavy breading coating. The cucumber salad was unappetizing and I had to toss the whole lunch. Excellent quick service falafel, salads and wraps. The gentlemen who work there are always super nice; one of the guys in particular. T hey make the falafel and the meat when you order so everything is fresh and excellent. My go to is the falafel plate with a can of Diet Coke. There is a small lot with parking. I usually opt for the street parking since the lot gets busy with everything nearby in the area. There are a few two-seater tables inside but I usually get my order to go. This is a hidden gem that needs to be known in El Segundo and the surrounding Beach Cities! We ordered the Greek Salad with Chicken, The Falafel Plates with sides. These Falafels are not a mix and water. They are handmade from soaking beans! They are crunchy outside and moist inside. I'll never order falafel from any other place. The sides are generous and amazingly seasoned. Tabouleh and baba ganoush EXCELLENT! Vegan options YES! Those crispy potato chips, I could eat those with the tomato cucumber salad or any side dish all day! The salad was generous and DELICIOUS! Service was amazing! The options are fantastic. Great hole in the wall! I've never been to Falafel King in Westwood, but having eaten at Falafel Queen, now I get the fanfare. This spot is a tiny corner joint in a strip mall across from Standard Station. We were the only ones in there at the time, but the food was stellar. Ordered the baba ganoush and the falafel sandwich. WOW/ the baba ganoush was chunky and smoky, and came with these cute house made potato chips. The falafel sandwich had so much flavor, and literally bursting at the seams (of the pita). My mom used to take me to their falafel king Westwood location as a kid. I was devastated when they closed during the pandemic. I happen to stumble across this when I was at the bank. Unsanitary, unethical I came here for a second time recently and the associate started making my plate I noticed he looked at his finger and wiped his finger on his apron (twice) I didn't think anything of it I figured maybe it was food or something. After making my plate and preparing/deep frying my falafels it was time for ring up. As my receipt was printing out and he is putting my plate in my bag I noticed his finger was red and was getting redder. There was blood on his finger and blood got on the very bag he put my food in. I told him I needed another bag and utensils. I honestly should have asked for a refund that's a huge No no in food industry. He never washed his hands, no gloves, no band aid.
