I thought that the food (lunch special) was very average. Not a lot of chicken. Mostly rice and potatoes. It was flavorful but heavy and the ratios of sauce to everything else was just off. This is a hole in the wall kind of Indian Food. There's no frills about it. They have a beautiful Naan Oven where the new owners Jay and Kim took over about two months ago. The chicken Masala is the must try here and of course the Naan. You can't skip on the lamp curry or the paneer saag too. For $17-$19 you get a complete meal of one protein, one side, naan and a soda. Trust me that's like eating two meals when it's all said in done. I was able to visit inside their clean kitchen and witness their cooking process. Jeez there a lot of work involved but so worth it to wait for the piping hot food. Food was awesome and freshly cooked. I requested for spicier than normal and the so it level hit the mark. We ordered paneer masala, mutter paneer and lamb curry with garlic naan. We didn't realize it was a take our place but the owners were very gracious about letting us eat inside and scene provided their own plates. Best Indian take out near LAX airport. read more

First time trying Indian food so I was recommended to play it safe and get butter chicken or the chicken tikka masala which are very popular. When I got there my first option was the butter chicken but unfortunately they ran out so I went with the tikka masala. The serving was so big lots of chicken lots of sauce and lots of rice all very flavorful and creamy it was a good experience for my first time trying Indian food so now Im excited to expand into more options. Solid spot for good Indian food! Takeout only, no frills type of place but it's great. Good food and super friendly staff and clean! Great Veg Samosas and the Tamarind Sauce was excellent. Chicken Combo plate is real good. Masala has nice layers of flavor that run deep! Chicken could have been more tender but it was good. The Grilled Veggies were awesome....nice and fresh and slightly crisp and seasoned perfectly. Lots of Rice! Had a bite of the Veg Masala and that was great too...real good smoke flavor! I've been going there for many, many years. Even after moving away from El Segundo, I stop by this place for my favorite Indian food whenever I'm nearby. Today is the first time I've been disappointed. The place reeked of cigarette smoke, like someone was smoking in their tiny kitchen or right out back. It was nauseating. The only person I saw working was super grumpy and barely said a word to me. The food tasted good. It always does. But one of the great things about chicken tikka masala is that rich delicious sauce that you dip your naan into and my bowl had very little. Not enough to dip a corner of the bread! The chicken portion was generous but also very, very dry. So the dish was begging for more sauce. Also, I kept crunching on big hunks of spice like star anise or cloves - it's a pretty potent and unpleasant thing to bite into. Next time I'm in the area, I'm not sure Indian Summer will be one of my stops. They seem to be going downhill... certainly very far from the days of tablecloths and outstanding service when they were on the other side of town. read more

This was the closest Indian food to the airport. We thought we'd give it a chance. We ordered the express food for 10.75 for two items you can choose on the menu. We ordered saag, chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. All of it were good and tasty. We only waited for 15 minutes. We thought the rice was too yellow although the taste was quite good. The restaurant was not too busy and we were attended quick. The parking was easy to get into and it wasn't too crowded. Overall, a good place to stop whenever your craving for Indian food. read more

I've been eating here a couple of times a month since 2019 and the quality has been consistently good. I found myself in the El Segundo area early, so decided to come to this place that I'd been curious about. I love Indian food am always appreciate a great counter-style place. It's very bare but clean and there's a lot to choose from. The employees were cordial and I didn't have to ask for utensils for my "to go" order. Note there is only one round table inside and it's very warm if you wait for your food by the counter. I ordered a combo with Coconut Curry Chicken and Dal Makhani (lentil beans with ginger and garlic), saffron rice and plain naan. There weren't enough lentils, mostly sauce but man, I was eating the curry sauce alone with the rice and naan. Creamy and thick, slightly salty at first and I didn't really taste coconut milk but I was beyond content. There was a lot of chicken and enough food in the combo for 2 meals for me. The naan was perfect! Thin and crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. I usually go to Samosa House off Overland but notice that their naan has gotten too thick. Indian Summer Grill's is perfect. Your food is made to order. It's fun to watch them cook. Choose from 3 different spiciness levels. Sides aren't cheap, at $9.50 each but you get a large container, maybe half a pound? I would love to go back and try new things. Another long-overdue review. Indian Summer is consistently good over the past 2 decades I've been visiting. I really miss their sit-down location. Even though it's just takeout now, the food quality is just the same. Excellent Korma, Masala, & Rice! We love getting the large size and having leftovers throughout the week. This review it's been long overdue. I've been eating at this place for years. Come from Santa Monica for it. I have tasted it about 3/4 of the menu and never disappointed. I can never take on meal, always 3-4 because of the distance and lack of time. My favorites are chicken Tikka, tandoories, paneers and of course, the naan. Friendly staff and clean. Ok here goes my review. First of all this is probably some of the best Indian food I've had and for being a small hole in the wall, their food is amazing. I want to start off with the Naan. I always get the garlic Naan extra crispy and let me tell you, they knock it out of the park. The Basmati rice is always fluffy and fresh. The Saag is full of flavor and pungent of aromas when it hits the pellet. I've had the chicken and lamb masala and they're both mouth watering. However, I did talk to the owner about what other Yelpers were saying about the chicken having a rubbery texture to it. Well as of this review, he took my observation and completely corrected the issue. The chicken is now super tender and falls apart in your mouth and easy to consume. If your are looking for some good reasonably priced Indian food, hit this spot up because you won't regret it. read more

Long time customer prior to their merging with the Indian restaurant and changing their menu. Hadn't been there in years. Came in and ordered up. Waited 40 minutes in my car. Saw the bill climbing and mentioned nicely there was a discount on orders over $50. He didn't believe me! Asked me for a coupon! Wanted to argue. Apparently unfamiliar with their website. He did spin around the tip iPad. I love Indian food but I think any another Indian restaurant would be happy for my $80 takeout order and will go that route moving forward. Way too much salt in the food. The flavors are so strong you can't tell what you're eating. The eggplant didn't taste like eggplant, just sauce and ginger . The chaana didn't taste like the typical tomato based curry but whatever salty curry was used. The lamb was at least tender, but so salty it was unpalatable. The Naan was not made properly, it was raw dough on some parts. It seems like the food was made with the same salty base sauce for everything and in a hurry. The only thing that tasted like indian food that i have had in the past either from restaurants or even cooking at home was the rice and mango lassi. Those 2 were the only normal flavors in this wasted meal that is going in the trash. read more

What do I think about when I think of Indian Summer? I think, "Ehhh............................" With a big long pause. The best thing this restaurant has for it is that the food is already cooked, so it's quick. Oh, and their naan was pretty good. Basically, it's a good place to go if you want the food NOW. I mean, there wasn't anything really wrong with the food. It tasted good, and it fills you up.. but it's not something to write home about. I like to eat Indian food, but I've had better.
