The "Best" Sandwich, which definitely lived up to its name!
    Wendy G.

Beyond Vegan was BEYOND AMAZING! The bread on The "Best" Sandwich was uniquely seasoned and delightfully complimented the filling. The quesadilla was grilled perfectly crispy on the outside and served over a hearty portion of yummy wild rice. I was today years old when I tried refried garbanzo beans for the first time, which accompanied it and...Blew. My. Mind. Cameron and his customers were friendly and helpful, giving the cute cafe a wonderful community vibe. There are also lots of unique juices and food options for purchase "to-go". Anytime you're near LAX, do yourself a favor and leave some time to visit Beyond Vegan.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really cute spot! Super friendly and welcoming even on my first visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The smoothies are delicious and I just wanted to grab something easy while I waited for my car to get new tires nearby. Nice downtown vibe to the block. Come on Sundays when they also have the farmer's market out front!

Nom nom nom. Visiting from the east coast and had no clue where to go. So happy this is the place I chose. The server was such a sweetheart and made us feel at home. The juices are a must try, they're beautiful and they taste amazing. That color wow! The quesadilla is a veggie dream and the bean dip on the side is exceptional. I also loveeed the oyster mushroom pasta. This place rejuvenated me. I highly recommend it!

Yummy in my Tummy! This restaurant is a few minutes from the airport. I pulled up to this intimate restaurant and walked in. It was a few ppl in there eating and chatting. I walked to the register to take a look at the menu to place my order. The lady at the counter was super friendly and personable. She recommended several different meals for me. I went from going in to get a meal to leaving with three different meals ALL FOR ME.. lol. This is definitely a gemstone to check out. When I'm in the city I'll definitely be getting a meal or two again. Highly recommend!

Just minutes away from LAX, I was truly impressed with this family eatery! The attention was amazing, the food spectacular and the price just right! I definitely recommend to go visit on the way to or from LAX! If you're lucky to live nearby, visit more often :)

I remember when it was in Culver City, so glad it's still alive and well. I love a good vegan spot!! And this is minutes away from LAX so travelers, come through! They have ready made meals in the fridges, along with soups and drinks. You can also order to get a dish freshly made. I forgot what I ordered but it was delicious and I wanted more! I do wish the portions had a few additional scoops though. It's on the lighter side compared to other places serving mains. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The message wall is so cool, people sharing words of encouragement and gratitude, it adds to the nice neighborhood vibe here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a few indoor seating options and a couple tables outside so you can take your pick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Truly amazing for vegan food. Everything is bursting with flavor. The lady at the counter was super friendly and gave recommendations. Pricing was great for health food. Juices were fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Theres ample seating inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got the best sandwich and apple strawberry ginger juice. Completely blown away. Definitely will be back.

    Gumbo, Chickpea Chowder

What a complete unexpected treat! I usually love eating meat, but the place is so tasty! I enjoyed all the dishes- but my favorite was the chickpea chowder. The cashier was friendly. Most people got take out. Came in for the juices.

Best sandwich has tender & natural sweetness from zucchini.

Best vegan sandwiches we ever had. Whoever created the recipe is a genius. The sandwiches were flavorful, colorful & very well seasoned. Since I found out about this place, we've been here several times & for sure will be back for many times later. My husband & I are not vegans but we'd love to try new food. Highly recommend for foodies like us. It's a small local store. We usually have it to go. The service is good.

Tamarind and Ginger Juice and Brownie

Went down the street and bought a Tamarind and Ginger Juice and left with a Brownie as well. Very happy to have found this place while getting my car changed at pep boys down the street. Black owned businesses who keep us healthy are definitely the places to frequent

    Jackfruit tacos and fruit bowl
    Maya M.

Decided to pick up a jackfruit taco plate ahead of my flight as opposed to paying $$$ for some mediocre airport food. The plate came with 1 tacos, a bed of grains, and some beans. The jackfruit was extremely flavorful. They had plenty of grab and go plates in the fridge section as well as a yummy fruit bowl which I got. It was a good sized portion for the cost. Will definitely pitstop here again!

First time here. Very fast service. Tried the vegan quesadillas and the kale and quinoa soup and burro banana fries. So flavorful and nice portions. I love when food comes out hot. Thank you . Will return on the regular.

They handed out menus and took your order when you were close to the front. Once seated inside, they welcomed you with their signature banchan dishes: the nutty boribap (보리밥), which tastes great on its own but even better with their yeolmu kimchi (radish water kimchi). There's also their tasty radish kimchi and napa kimchi. Throughout the meal, they replenished our banchan multiple times without us asking. We tried two of the new items: Galbi Kalguksu: A delicious, deep-flavored bone broth with knife-cut noodles, shredded fried egg, sliced radish, and scallions. The meat fell off the bone, and I loved the broth, though my husband thought it was a little on the saltier side. Perilla Oil Makguksu: Cold buckwheat noodles in perilla oil. Mixed with sliced shiitake mushrooms, shredded perilla leaf, gim (seaweed), sesame seeds, and scallions. It's a deliciously light refreshing dish if you don't want the heavy knife-cut noodle dishes. Last, I ordered the Non-spicy Seafood Kalguksu. It comes with a anchovy broth with a lot of seafood flavors. It's a lighter broth than the galbi but still rich in flavor. It came with clams, mussels, shrimps and 1/2 crab. There was also sliced pumpkin and zucchini. Everything tasted great. Their servers were very attentive and generous with replenishing the side dishes, and overall it was a wonderful experience. If you see a line and don't mind waiting 15-30 minutes, it moves pretty quickly, so don't be deterred by it.

We came as a group of 9 and thankfully, they allow for reservations if you are a group of 8 or bigger. Take note! Especially in this LA peak heat. We checked in with the valet and they gave us menus as we waited about 15/20 minutes for the table to be ready. You will need to order before you are seated and you cannot order anymore food once you are seated, given how popular they are, this makes plenty sense. We were seated inside with cooling AC and the restaurant is quite large inside! It could certainly have several parties in there. Soon, our galbi kalguksu, XL chicken kalguksu, tteokbeokki and XL pork jowl and pork belly bossam showed up. Everything was extra delicious and fresh. The soups in both the galbi and chicken kalguksus were amazing and the hand pulled noodles were divine. We drank and ate everything up quickly. The tteokbeokki was delicious, but too spicy so the rest of the party was able to enjoy it. The bossam was all so tender and had just enough napa and garlic to go with it along with the many unique sauces we could dip all the meats in. Everyone left feeling happy and it satisfied everyone's palates.

The hot and sour soup was thick and chunky, just how I like the soup. The scallion bread sandwich with 5-spice beef was distinct. The bread was perfectly baked and the beef was flavorful and juicy. There was both mustard greens and pickles that gave crunch and acidity to balance the meat and bread. The lotus root salad was refreshing while still having a kick from their in-house chili oil. Dan Dan noodles were also excellent. Fresh cucumbers, chewy noodles, flavorful sauce. Hearty portions with enough for a lunch the next day. Also appreciated the speed of service. While the broth was tasty, it wasn't cold :( Kind of defeats the purpose, especially when you're waiting in the heat for a table and the room itself was pretty warm. Banchan was pretty limited as well, with just two Kim chi types and cucumbers with samjang. The highlight might have been the ribs, which are not LA style but full bone. The bulgogi was pretty tasty as well, but serving was really small and the daengjang soup not all that great. Loved the purple rice though! I do like that they offer free tea, but is offset with the charging of to go boxes :). I realize it's only $0.50, but it did keep me from ordering an extra dish which would have guaranteed the need for containers. Thankfully we only needed three :). Parking is valet only and the place was packed even though we chose an off peak time of 2:00pm. $3 isn't bad, but even valet had a hard time keeping up so keep parking in mind when visiting.

Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.
