This crazy person was yelling in the restaurant as we started getting our food and valet had to call the cops but the food was worth the crazy experience. Good portions and so comforting at a great price point. Stir fry pork leans sour from the kimchi; tteokbokki "less spicy" was still solidly spicy but the chew was amazing. Oxtail didn't taste too beefy but was still very flavorful. They only let us get three rounds of banchan before they said we weren't allowed to get anymore????? Like is that not the best part of Korean food?? Chef Kang also has some other spots around Ktown and apparently he started as a mortgage broker / home cook according to LAT. After a trip to Universal Studios with the family, we really wanted to eat something warm and after much Yelping this was the spot we decided on. Boy was it a great spot to stop by for dinner. Ordered: Army Stew $46- lots of sausage/hot dog, i wished there was a bit more ramen but thats because there was way more toppings than noodles in my opinion. I'm glad that they didn't charge a lot but gave less ingredients. Braised Short Rib $54- tender, a bit sweet, and be prepared to use your hands to grab the ribs. There's been a new sign out here for the past two weeks saying that they got a new chef and the food is even more delicious, so I tried it again. 1. The panchan is so much better than it was. Significant improvement here, but not as good as the original panchan set. 2. The seaweed soup, they put bone broth in it, and that combination gives it such an amazing flavor. It's sooooooooo good! Decided to have dinner at this spot after doing some online shopping at the coffee shop upstairs in the same outlet. I was drawn to this restaurant because of the older folks eating inside, I was craving some comfort soup, and might as well eat here since my car was already parked in the lot. As someone who loves Korean food, Dasom LA is definitely up there in quality with the other Korean food restaurants around, if not even better than them. Parking can be limited, a moderate size lot for free parking, valet in evening but gets filled up pretty fast. Parking spaces are a bit tight as well compared to other lots, street parking is advised if crowded. Upon entering, we were immediately seated and placed our order. Inside is pretty spacious with plenty of seats for all sizes of parties which is nice, clean interior is also a plus for this restaurant. My wife and I ordered two of their flavorful broth soups that was clamored with wagyu flavored. Both soup dishes were super flavorful, not super salty, and very much a comforting vibe to the dish. Both were very well made & consists a nice balance between the broth & the meats. Service was pretty good as our server checked in many times throughout the meal and the side dishes were delicious as well. Im a big fan of Haneuem so when I found out there's another chef Kang restaurant I decided to check it out right away, but unfortunately my experience was pretty disappointing. We came in near the end of food service, like 5 minutes before the kitchen closed, but they managed to get our order in last minute. We ordered the spicy braised ribs (갈비찜) . First they got the order wrong, they gave us the regular marinated ribs and not the spicy version. I thought maybe I wasn't clear, but the staff confirmed the kitchen messed up the order. They brought us what I think is 다대기 (not sure what it's called in English but it's basically a spicy paste that's added to Korean stews pretty commonly), and dumped it in as a fix. I would have been okay with this but... This is by far the sweetest Korean braised ribs and no amount of spices could've masked it. We actually couldn't finish it even though we were hungry because of how nauseatingly sweet it was. Usually this dish does have a good amount of sweetness in it (usually sugar but pears, starch syrup is also common) but this was just overwhelming. Maybe it was because the kitchen was rushing it but I wish they would've just turned us away instead if that was the quality of the food that would be served. Came here around 8:11 last night with my family (including a toddler). The service was good until the very end. Not one minute did we feel like we felt rushed to hurry up, eat and pay. One of few restaurants my Mom and I can both agree on. She likes their soybean stew set that comes with a bunch of lettuce and steamed cabbage leaves (Ssam-bap). Not a lot of restaurants have ssam-bap on their menu, so it is a bit of a treat to get it. It's basically different wraps for your rice and soybean stew (made a little saltier and thicker). All their soups that we tried were good too. Only dish we didn't like was their dduk-galbi. It was rock hard! I've had it in Korea and it was never so hard, so not sure what happened there. Flavor was good though. And their banchan are all legit. Not salty, tastes very clean and healthy. Overall, I'd definitely come back again. They don't take reservations and the restaurant is always packed. Parking in the lot is very limited, so you can either park on the street or they have extra parking in the back. A fantastic spot for authentic Korean cuisine! We went for lunch outside of peak hours and were seated immediately. The staff was warm and welcoming, the atmosphere vibrant and clean, and even the bathrooms were well-maintained. Parking is also easy as the lot is in front of the shopping mall. We ordered the pork Bossam, which came with two delicious dipping sauces--one a traditional soybean paste marinated in house sauce, and the other a spicy chili paste with generous chunks of oysters. Every bite was fresh and full of flavor. The Sul Lung Tang was exceptional, with a deep, rich bone broth that was perfectly balanced. The unlimited Banchan was a great touch, and overall, this was one of the best Korean meals I've had in K-Town. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be returning on my next visit! I had lunch at Dasom by Chef Kang with my friend Carol A. and my son Wade B. a couple weeks back. We live within walking distance of this place, and while I've definitely driven to the same strip mall (it's the same one as the MyGym and El Pollo Loco), this time we rolled in with a stroller. The restaurant was almost empty at 11:30 on a Monday, and we were greeted and seated right away. The space was clean and casual, with K-pop videos playing on a TV (Wade was fascinated). Service was friendly and fast. We had a pleasant, easy lunch, even with one of our party being under the age of three. The food was like a solid B+, nothing exceptional but everything reasonably good. There was a decent banchan spread with oden, a few namuls, glazed vegetables, and kimchi. We shared a dduk mandu guk and a naengmyun dak bulgogi combo, and this worked well for two adults and one chicken-loving child. The dduk mandu guk was my favorite dish on the table, a warm, comforting soup loaded with rice cakes and boiled dumplings. The bibim naengmyun had a nice chewy texture but was oddly 7-Up sweet. The dak bulgogi was tasty, but I kind of like the one I make at home better. My boy really dug it, though, and we ate every bite of chicken, leaving only some onions behind. I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit Dasom, but I'm somewhat likely to go back, as it's literally in my way. When we walked in thankfully it was empty which we loved! We were greeted with warm tea which I love when this happens because it's a real Korean restaurant. All the sides served were good! And not the menu. We ordered 3 items for 2 people but we had to lol we ordered the pork belly kimchi stew which was phenomenal, the flavors in that soup were delicious.
