What can I say about "Top Deck"... It is the most deliciously cheap restaurant in Reno located at the Cal Neva Casino and free parking. Is been 3 years we been going there ever since my boss introduced me to this restaurant. The food is one Old Classic American old school diner. The service and customer service is great because if you coffee or water is low they are super attentive which is great. But the cost is low, where can you get 3 pancakes with 3 eggs, a sausage (any sides) and hash brown for $11.95. Not even Denis can go that low. We have seen the signs downtown for the food specials at Cal Neva many times. We decided to try it out. Walking through the casino is a bit like walking back into time. After my wife doubled her money at a slot machine we found the Top Deck Restaurant about noon on a Sunday The place was packed but we were quickly seated and provided menus. We looked through the menu and there are lots of inexpensive options. We chose the club sandwich with fries and the Philly cheese steak sandwich with fries. Our food was delivered in a timely fashion and looked really good. Everything tasted pretty good too. We were pleasantly surprised. read more

I remember when Top Deck used to be open 24 hrs a day, but no more...sigh :( If I'm recalled it open 24hrs Friday & Saturday's only. Each & every time come come here, I always have to order the $5.99 for a pretty decent "Prime Rib" dinner. If you aren't into meat they make a mean salad too, you can even have you salad customized to your specifications, just ask your waiter/waitress. The service is sometime hit & miss as wait as the wait service is concerned. I've had really friendly servers and I've had service, where the server can be down right rude for no reason. I'm a big girl, I deal with each situation accordingly. The food is good not the best, but for the price and portions you can't go wrong and who doesn't like a $1.50 16oz can of Budweiser or Bud Light? They sell many food items from Breakfast, Lunch and dinner and the desserts are pretty good too! Heck, why not play a little Keno, while you wait for your meal. ere every day of our Reno trip, including twice yesterday! I love the food, employees, and atmosphere. I wish I could have got everyone's names, but due to my vision issues, I could not. On this morning's receipt Elizabeth's was listed as the server and she was awesome! I do have to say the only name I got was Steve. He was amazing. He was right to us immediately and had the drinks back right away. He was always smiling and really made the overall experience pleasant. One thing that I would love someone to mention to all of the staff, every single person treated me equal. One thing they did not know is in September I was a normal walking talking person and i contracted menengitis. I was in the hospital for three months and in a vent. I lost my motor skills and ability to walk and talk. I'm relearning these things slowly. This was my first trip as a newly disabled person and it was scary. To everyone on the street I was just a fat lady in a power chair, not a lady who survived a catastrophic illness whose medicine helped make me fat lol. Every staff at top deck and cal-neva took the time to let me try to talk and was very patient with me. I never felt like a burden for trying to speak, they treated me like every other person and I want them to know how much better they made my trip! read more

I've been coming here for years but always checking in and reviewing CalNeva, but the Top Deck Restaurant is the only reason I stop in. I have loved it since the first time I ever ate here!! The grilled cheese on Texas toast is the best I've ever had from a restaurant. That was my go to for awhile and I got my boyfriend hooked on them too. He loves the steak & lobster special and we've also gotten a variety of breakfast dishes here that we also love. There's tons of booths to sit in and the service has (almost) always been great. We've had a couple of times where everything was moving incredibly slow but we've also been in enough to know that is not the usual for them. Food is great for what you pay. I personally like the vibe. Service is generally pretty friendly and it's a laid back place to eat and hang for awhile. We've gotten well-done steak when we ordered medium rare, burnt lobsters, but we've also had decently juicy steak and buttery lobster, so it really depends. It didn't start until 4pm. Ok, so I decide to just order something else. I go for a chicken caesar salad wrap that comes with a side of potato salad or fries. I opt for the potato salad becaus I know I want to try a few onion rings. The waitress brings my food and I ask for ketchup. It's on a huge table and because I'm dining alone, I have to get up to retrieve it when she was already standing on the side where the ketchup is. That's not a big enough deal to ruiin my meal. I go for the potato salad. Extremely bland. Salt and pepper didn't help much. The onion rings and wrap were ok though. After I had my plate for about 5 minutes, the server brought my ticket, placed it down on the table and said, "No Rush". She was never to be seen again UNTIL I located her and asked for a to-go box. But still, when you're in a cloud of smoke this thick, any drink is passable. The absolute only reason that we loved this place for so many years were the outstanding specials! Their $5.99 and under Prime Rib specials earned this place their good rating. But since they're gone, so too are those other four stars I would have otherwise given. It's a sad day, it is. We were told it would be about half an hour wait and we were fine with it. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating, and was able to seat us at two separate tables across from each other. My brother and I got the prime rib and lobster, which both of us thought that our prime rib was really dry even though we both ordered it medium rare. My other brother and his wife had the steak and lobster and they both said that their steaks were made exactly how they ordered. Two happy customers! My niece had the fish and chips and she said it was fine, but how can you really mess that up? Other then the fact that we all said our fries were soggy. I have been to Reno on more than one occasion in the past several years. My travels took place during the weekend--but I had not eaten at the "Top Deck" until my most recent visit. Why? Well, on those previous occasions, when I walked past this restaurant during peak dinning hours, the wait for seating was really, really long. (It's enough activity to make one a little curious.) The Top Deck (in my opinion) is an old fashioned coffee shop type restaurant. It is located upstairs, within the Club Cal-Nevada casino. The facilities are well maintained; but the décor is a bit dated. That said, I chose to regard it as a quaint throwback to a previous era. On this one occasion, I wanted to get a late night meal. However, many eateries were already closed. Fortunately, the Top Deck is open 24-hours [during the weekend]. I ordered their $9.99 steak and lobster meal. You get a NY steak and lobster, served on a bed of French fries. (Do not hold me to this, but I estimate the steak as being 6oz, and the lobster as being 3-4oz.) At the price point, given the late hour, I think the quality and preparation of the meal was more than adequate. And lest you think that the meal wasn't filling, I didn't finish all of the fries that were provided. While waiting for my meal, I observed the orders that were coming out of the kitchen, and looked up the prices in the menu. A lot of people were ordering breakfast plates, and the serving sizes were generous. The prices were "low"--compared to comparable meals served by (say) Denny's. In conclusion, the Top Deck isn't fancy. It just serves decent quality food at low prices. read more
