$17.99 Lobster and Prime Rib!
Ramona V.

$17.99 for Lobster & Prime Rib?! I can't complain! Saw this place on social media and I dragged my husband here when we were in Reno for the weekend. It's located inside Cal Neva Casino and the menu prices are all reminiscent of the early 2000s! My husband got the prime rib and lobster combo and I got the country fried steak breakfast. For the low pricing, it was honestly decent! You can't come in expecting 5 star quality for $17.99, but we were happy with what we got! Lots of people hate on this place but how can you when the price is that low?!

This was an easy find on Virginia Street because it's nearby other hotels and casinos. The actual restaurant was a little hidden inside the casino. But it was pretty easy to get a table on a weekend morning for breakfast with very little wait. The menu offered a lot of options and the portions were above average. The quality is average but good for the price. The restaurant was clean, but you will have to endure some smoky casino environment in order to walk to the restaurant. I would eat here again because it was a simple and affordable.

Ok my peeps the Top Deck restaurant in the Cal Neva Casino is still alive and well. Lost count how many times we have been here. Best food prices, portions are generous food is served hot and plentiful really. The service at times is confusing at times but hey the food is good for the price. Now the whole property needs a lot of TLC but hey it's Reno . On a budget in Reno this is a good place to get a bit. Enjoy have fun go check em out.

This is my favorite restaurant to hit up whenever I'm in Reno. Back then my family and I would always eat here during our family trips, and it's safe to say that not much has changed. The menu is the same, the food is still delicious, and the best part: the prices are still cheap. They might have increased a bit, but only marginally. Back then you'd be able to get prime rib for like $10 but now it's $15, which is extremely reasonable considering other places charge minimum $25 for the same thing. Service was a little slow while we were here--there might have been a mix up with servers because there wasn't anyone to wait the table we were seated at, so another employee had to step in to help us. Other than that, everything went smoothly. We ordered our stuff, received our food, and devoured it. I usually order the prime rib with mashed potatoes and veggies. It always hits the spot. Don't expect top notch quality prime rib, but for the price, it can't get any better than that. I will continue to come back to this place when I'm in town.

Went in for a quick snack to share with the hubby before the baseball game. Was seated very quickly. Ordered the chicken fingers and an order of onion rings to share as they didn't have a side order of French fries that showed in the menu. The food came out fast. The chicken tenders were good but could have been cooked a little more well done. The onion rings were okay, mainly because they just tsst r like they bathed in a bucket of grease ( yes I know they were deep fried). The menu overall looks tasty but if I go back I'll definitely steer clear of the onion rings.

Honestly, the food should have been 3.5 stars and the service -3.5 stars. This is the restaurant in the casino so it's definitely an interesting crowd. I was told there would be a 30 min wait for a table but the counter was available now if I wanted so I opted for the counter. A woman was quick to ask me for my drink order, but little did I know, that would be the last encounter with a server for over 30 mins. I sat there watching the servers pass by taking food from the pass to the different tables in the restaurant. I ended up asking 5 different times for a server to take my order and each time was told that someone else was responsible for the service at the counter and they would try and find the server. The entire row of diners sitting at the counter was waiting to order and no one would even look at us. I have never seen a restaurant run in this manner before. It was clear that they had no intention of finding our server. I was eventually able to flag down a server who was okay with taking my order. I ordered the prime rib and lobster. The lobster was pretty overcooked and not very good. The prime rib and mashed potatoes were pretty solid for the price. Would probably order that again, minus the lobster. But will probably never return due to the awful service.

In the forefront, ham and eggs $7.77. In the background, steak and eggs.

This is a great place for that old Reno feel where the food is good and affordable. This cafe like restaurant has a great selection of American fair.

This place never disappoints! Got the prime rib 8oz special, steak and fries both medium rare. The price is still decent. The prime rib and steak were both seasoned and cooked perfectly. They both came with chicken noodle soup. I love stopping by here whenever I am at Reno.

I saw the 777 special and I came to try it . The ham was huge and the hash browns crispy . Fast service within 10 minutes of ordering . Your meal should be at your table . Looks like Reno ambiance . A little bit country .

Their 9.99 steak and eggs special brought me into cal neva. I ordered the steak and eggs along with a stack of pancakes on the side--and let me tell you, both absolutely hit the spot. The steak was tender and cooked close to what I ordered. The pancakes were fluffy, golden, and had that nostalgic flavor that brings you back to simpler times. No gimmicks here--just solid, delicious food made with care. Service was fast, warm, and genuinely welcoming--something you don't always find in casino-adjacent diners. My coffee cup never ran dry, and the servers made the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. Yes, the space is a little worn around the edges, but it kind of adds to the charm. Think "vintage Tahoe diner" more than "dated." And for the price? Almost shockingly affordable, especially given the generous portions and quality. Bottom line: If you're staying at Cal Neva or just passing through, Top Deck is 100% worth a stop.

Old school casino food. On a recent visit to Reno, my friend and I can't pass up the sign advertising surf and turf for $16.99 (steak and lobster). Walked through the smoky casino floor to the slightly less smoky 2nd floor dining area and found that you can get a slice of prime rib with a lobster tail for $17.99. Baked potatoes would be a bit more. My friend's end cuts were a bit dry and my medium rare cut was done perfectly. Au jus was a bit plain as well as the creamy horseradish. Aside from the general smokiness of the place, I actually kind of enjoyed the old timey vibe with the red booths separated by frosty glass partitions. No thrills, but I'm sure I'll be back if I'm in the area again.

If you're looking for a meal while on a budget in Reno, this is the perfect spot for you. The quality of the food is average, but it still gets the job done. Can't go wrong with a burger and fries; and the wings are not small.

Good service. Cheap and decent eats. Not gourmet. Not fancy. Just right. Beer is often cheaper than the soda.

The stars of the night were our drinks (they infused them with wood smoke and it was so good) and the sticky toffee pudding, complementary because of our anniversary (thank you!). I do recommend checking them out for a fun date night or nice dinner out but I don't think we would be back since we've had better food at the same quality for a lower cost.

I didn't indulge in food, but many in my party ordered the burger, and everyone loved it. Goodbye, Parlay 6. I wish you luck in your new ventures!

We noted the time, b giving them the benefit of the doubt. Five minutes plus went by with three employees in sight and not a single "hi," menu, or "be right with you." The only person moving with urgency was the server, who finally told us the bartender would be with us shortly. When he finally wandered over, maybe 24, it was "Can I get you anything?" delivered with the enthusiasm of someone realizing mid-sentence that he was, in fact, on the clock. Not rude, just weirdly absent. Apps are $14 to $16, but he pitched the app trio for $24 because you "get almost three times as much." We ordered double wings and cheese curds. It landed as eight wings total, four flats and four drums, plus a tiny portion of curds. For $24. The curds were hard and had that old-oil taste, but acceptable. The burger had good flavor, then got cooked into rubber. The beer was genuinely really good, and Jackie, the 73-year-old local next to us, was the other saving grace. We also came in on a 10-point promo that promised a free item, but were told it "didn't work" and got a card for a free beer next time. We still tipped because everyone has an off day, but this place is a prime hangout space running on low-effort hospitality and premium-ish pricing. It could be great. It just needs to act like it wants customers.

I actually ate here 3 days in a row so I got a good taste of the experience for sat dinner, sun brunch, and then Monday brunch on the way out. The first night, I came with family, who ordered the Brussel sprouts, which came out a little over cooked, soft, not crispy, and the balsamic was just ok. However I did share the gigantic ribeye dinner with my date and it was honestly one of the better steaks I've had recently, especially considering the size, it was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the veggies and mashed potatoes that came with it were amazing. The server was also very friendly and funny, the experience in general was a 4.8. The second day I came in for brunch, the server that we had was truly a delight, she was extremely friendly, her name which I forgot, was a spice like Cinnamon or something. Anyway, she was very sweet, she let me and my gf sit next to each other and take up two tables, even though it was quite a busy time (they do have a large back room). I was able to build my own omelet which was nice since like I said I was in a strict diet. I had the San Francisco omelet with mods, which came with ground beef, spinach, mushrooms, I also added zucchini, pickled jalapeños and some bacon. It was amazing! Once again, the server seemed like she would go out of her way to make our experience a great one! I will also say that they had some soul music playing which me and my girlfriend really liked (bias of course). Unfortunately the Monday brunch was not as great of an experience as the other two days. I will give a little grace considering it's Monday, and the bartender was the only one serving in the whole place, he did not live up to the standards the first two servers provided. Anyway, we walked in and there was one person in the whole place, sitting at the bar, we sat next to the window and I asked if I can push the two tables together so I can sit next to her, he actually said no initially bc he wanted to save room for bigger crowds (keep in mind, this place is empty and they have a huge back room), he eventually said "it's all good we are not that busy right now anyway." His negative tone kind of set the "tone" for the rest of the experience. I ended up getting a coffee while my date a latte, the coffee was noticeably not hot, and tasted kind of stale, when he came to refill my coffee later, it was still not hot at all, I don't want to say it was cold but it was just kind of warm, and kind of gross. This time I decided to get the same omelet with egg whites, initially I was unsure if he would be willing to go out of his way to accommodate for the previous modifications, but I asked and he was "willing", though he seemed a bit annoyed (maybe this is just his usual face). The omelet came out different obviously with it being egg whites and unfortunately it was a little runny, while the veggies were a little overcooked. I realize that cooking with egg whites are not as easy as regular eggs but either way, it was noticeably runny. The server did show that he had a little sense of humor and could smile at one point while helping a different group, mainly at the expense of a group of teenagers who came as a group of 10 kids to post up a single poster in the window. It was nice to see that he "could" smile. Ultimately, he was ok, but a little awkward, and really never smiled. The breakfast wasn't terrible, the seasoning (like the other meals, was great, the potatoes came with bell peppers and green onions on top and were good, and other than the eggs being a little runny, it was still good. The music was also different, 80s punk/ Ramones radio. To top things off, I ordered some house made pickles, which I was very excited about since I was a little hungover, but they never showed up :( Like many of the other reviews, it was pretty expensive, which is understandable since they advertise that most of the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Two omelets, a coffee and a latte came out to $80, not including tip. I am willing to pay for great quality food and great service, but it does little room for error, and the last experience did have quite a few of them. At the end of the day, it is a unique place that offers a lot, breakfast, lunch, dinner, organic ingredients, a charming ambience that reminded me of a grog bar, midtown setting that is a short walk from the riverwalk and downtown. Obviously I liked the place since I came back twice, and if the option of 4.5 stars was possible I would give it here bc the first two experiences were stellar. And, if i never came in on Monday, it would've been easily a 5 star rating. AND once again, I'd hate to judge a place based on the performance on a Monday morning, however, I simply can't give this place 5 stars after that last experience.
