There are some friends I trust when it comes to dining. They are wanna be foodies like me. Some friends did not give Tiki Docks the highest review, and it always seemed crowded, so I didn't go out of my way to try this restaurant. Let me tell you, I want to smack my friends upside the head. What a gem in Brandon. We took my mother-in-law and wife's aunt here for lunch. The restaurant looks fabulous inside and out. Love the feel of place. Side not, our aunt has mobility issues and they have a nice elevator to assist getting up from the parking lot to the dining area. We sat outside, in the summer, and it was very pleasant. Nice view of the Alafia. This place is very large, and while it was busy, there were still some tables closest to the water available. As nice as it was, I was skeptical about the food. Then, I got my salad, the island chopped salad with blackened shrimp. Wow, one of my favorite ever. Everything was fresh, nice portion of shrimp, which tasted great. I have to tell you though, as great as the salad was, my wife's fish and chips might have been even better, and I am a fish and chips snob. Everyone loved their meal. The service was my favorite kind, personable, casual, yet very efficient. We never had to wait for anything we needed or asked for, and she was friendly. This is a new favorite within 20 minutes of our home. If you haven't been to Tiki Docks, don't let the parking lot scare you away, there very well might be a table. This is may be THE place to take out of town guests if you don't want to drive all the way to Tampa. Very, very impressed and happy my friends were wrong. read more

Love the aesthetic of this place but I see why the reviews are the way they are. Service here was awful, literally waited 30+ minutes at the bar outside and wasn't even acknowledged. It wasn't even busy enough to be excusable. Not to mention my boyfriend watched the bartender walk out of the bathroom without washing his hands, went back outside and stuck his hands in the ice. Some of the best service we've ever had. Great view. For these reasons, we will be back. Food... pretty good, not incredible. We ordered the Florida pork nachos, which could have been amazing, but lacking on some of the toppings. The pork was yummy, but like 5 bites of pork on a huge tray of chips. Fish tacos were amazing. Breaded fish and chips needed more salt. Great atmosphere. Again, great staff. Clean. Decent prices for sure. We are happy. read more

Nothing better than sharing a few fruity drinks by the water with friends! This place has an extensive drink selection, great menu of apps and entrees, and plenty of wide open space inside and out. Daughter and I went here for a little girl day fun with food, drinks and music. Atmosphere is fantastic and the place just looks awesome both inside and out. We had reservations and were seated quickly outside by the music as requested. I ordered a Skinny Margarita and Daughter ordered a Crab Bloody Mary. Skinny Margarita was not Skinny at all, it tasted super sweet with no alcohol...I complained and nothing was done to rectify the situation. I could have asked for a manager but was trying to relax. Daughters Bloody Marybwas delicious although presentation of both drinks were lacking especially for the price. We shared 2 appetizers: 3 mini crab cakes, we both loved these and the sauces and mango salsa complemented them perfectly. Fish Dip, liked it allot especially since it was served with pork skins instead of crackers! It is not your normal florida white smoked fish dip that I am used to and prefer but instead smoked salmon with capers and onion. Fun place to gather with friends and family! It can get crowded on the weekend so be mindful that there might be a wait to be seated. They have a very nice indoor and outdoor space next to the river with a large bar in each area. The menu is on the smaller side which is nice if you are like me and have trouble picking your meal. I've tried several dishes here and so far my favorite was actually the Knot a Wedge Salad. Perfect portion for the price. I was not a fan of the ceviche here. Peel N Eat Shrimp appetizer is a winner though! Drinks range from $10-$14 - get the Zombie....it's worth your money! read more

Surprisingly for all the bad reviews I think I waited long enough to try the food here. Me and a couple of girlfriends met up for Thursday night dinner and drinks. Made a reservation ahead of time so it was very smooth a check in got seated right away cute little table on the deck facing the river. Even had one of those coconut umbrella for shade great vibes here felt like you were in Polynesian Island. Lots of neon lighting trimmed the deck and the water fountain wall was nearby. We sat behind the live music stage and couldn't hear his name but he played a mix of country and rock. Enjoyable to have live music again! Ordered the island time dockwich $13.99 asked for a bun less burger to be on that and a side of watermelon. Very pleased with my food another friend of mine had the peel and eat shrimp which is also seasoned really well I wasn't in the mood for the messiness of that especially with my manicure. Our waitress was very attentive tho not too talkative; but I think that's because she was very busy being stretched between the deck at about eight tables at that time. On a work trip from out of town and was looking for a dinner spot with colleagues. We saw this from the road on our way to the hotel and it caught our eye from the size to the bright lights and colors. It was a rainy night so it was pretty quiet and a Tuesday on top of that. When you enter the restaurant it's a huge space with tons of tables, bar you can sit around and a outdoor dock area where they were playing live music. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were awesome. Full of flavor and the portions were generous. The server was excellent and attentive. I would definitely come back in the future. I was excited to try Tiki Docks as it's really close by and the architecture of the restaurant looks fun and exciting. It's one of the few restaurants that I know of in Brandon that overlooks the river. As expected being fairly new, it was very packed and there was a long wait time for a table, so my friend and I decided to sit at the outside bar, which had nice views of the river and we could hear the live music. I decided to get three tacos: pork belly and 2 grouper tacos. I also got their street corn. Pork belly tacos - 10/10 would recommend it was a really good! The pork belly was crunchy and seasoned well. The grouper taco - 10/10 was really good as well! The street corn was my fave of the whole meal! I'm pretty confused about the poor ratings on Yelp. I found this place to have ample parking, we made reservations and were seated immediately. When we visited the restaurant was clean, we had tasty, beautiful food, polite accommodating staff and absolutely awesome ambience. My husband Jeff actually said it made him feel like he was back in Hawaii. We had fun, and enjoyed every bite. The cost of a meal and drinks at Tiki Docks is so decent and TD is so close to home that we will definitely be going to be back often. After weeks of driving by, I knew today was the day. Being anywhere but on their deck overlooking the river would be criminal on a gorgeous afternoon like this. On the approach from the parking lot, the building has this fab mixed vibe: a little swank tiki, a little mid-century Polynesian and a little beach bar-blended like one of the fun cocktails on their menu. You enter via the stairs on the side, or customer elevators... and all the dining is upstairs, either inside or on the very expansive patio, with different levels and areas. I chose outside. From the minute I saw the view-and the Elvis coaster my server brought-I was hooked. The watermelon margarita was divine (the tiki glass alone was swoon worthy!) and not too sweet. I ordered the chips and three salsas. Wow! The chips were fresh, warm and salty and all three salsa options (verde, mango and the third I couldn't quite nail down) were so flavorful! That could've been my meal, but the grouper sandwich was calling. It was a huge piece of fresh fish-blackened but not too spicy-and the "boat bun" was tasty. It came with fries or fresh watermelon! The atmosphere here is really incredible. The colors of the structure, umbrellas, and lighting is so fun and festive. We came at 6:45p on a Tuesday and walked right in to a table. Plenty of seating open. Such a great setting to hangout and have a meal. The bar area was huge and looked awesome too. The food was good. Everything we ordered was tasty and we were happy with the portion sizes. The shrimp tacos were totally worth it! Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. It was difficult to get refills or order additional items and we felt like we didn't see our server most of the time, even at other tables. A different server brought us food a couple of times. I'm not sure if it may have been an issue of being understaffed at play but our server himself was somewhat aloof and seemed either unaware of the lack of service or unconcerned. Tiki Docks is a very great place to go to and grab a drink. The service is always good, and it is a go-to when I want to enjoy a simple night out with friends or a happy hour. It's always a good time & friendly space. Must try: the peel 'n eat shrimp (very flavorful!) and the tiki cheddar burger is AMAZING! I find myself craving it often. Make sure to ask for some piña colada honey mustard for your fries -- trust me, you will never go back to just ketchup on the side! For drinks, I recommend the mango margarita or the watermelon margarita (not sure if it's seasonal) but they are yummy and strong. read more

First visit was a Saturday at around 10:30pm. There was basically no one waiting to get in and plenty of empty tables so wondered why it took 15 minutes to be seated at a table. While we waited we went to the outside bar and chose a bunch of their specialty high priced drinks. I had the Blue Hawaiian, which is a frozen drink. Didn't really taste much alcohol. Four of us stood there at the bar with credit cards lined up in front of us for roughly eight minutes when the buzzer went off for our table being ready. Once at the table we ordered an appetizer. When that was brought out we were told they were about to close and needed to settle up. When they brought the bill out we were overcharged; along with feeling rushed. They should have told us when we arrived that they were about to close in 30 minutes. The appetizer was chips with three bowls of dip. The number of chips was way too few for four people and about 60% of the dip went unused once the chips were gone. Because we were being rushed out we didn't have the opportunity to ask for more chips, nor did the waitress ask. So for the food and drinks: 2 stars For the cool building and ambiance: 5 stars Service: 2.5 stars Parking: 4 stars Plan on giving this place a second visit before making a final decision. Passing by had to stop and check it out. Wow is one word to describe this place. It's "huge" inside and has a large wrap around set of outside deck seating. All while on waterside with large nature trees. Menu had lots of tempting items, so I started with the peel and eat shrimp. Always busy, but delicious! Tiki docks is a local fave with great service. The watermelon margarita (when they have it) is crave-able, as is the coconut shrimp! Their ahi tuna apps are also delicious, and their French fries are always fresh and crispy. Tiki Docks River Bar and Grill is all about ambiance and location. Colorful, lights, murals, tiki bars, live music and a water front setting give a fun Polynesian vibe. My fiancé and I have been trying to get over to the Tiki Docks for a couple weeks now. Unlike most places, you cannot place your name on a list, call ahead or use a website to wait in-line. You have to arrive and wait in-person. The few other times we called ahead to see what the wait time was, it was in excess of 2-hours. There was no way. Finally, on a Saturday night, the wait was only 35-40 minutes. The only easy way to get to this place is if you're going North on 301. If you're headed south, you'll need to turn down some side street and cut through a neighborhood. We arrived to a pretty packed parking lot but found an open space pretty close. Luckily, it was nice and cool out and we were able to sit outside on the upstairs deck to wait. Any other time in Florida, the long outside wait would not be bearable. An interesting note is this place is located on the Alafia River. Due to flooding, the restaurant is raised, I'd say almost 10 feet or more off the ground. Really cool to see. Eventually, we were seated and our server came around. We started with the very unique Weeki Wachee Watermelon. I've never had anything like this before at a restaurant. The juicy watermelon was topped with queso fresco and a jalapeño-cilantro aioli. The two flavors were so different but didn't do too bad together. It was tasty and we enjoyed it. For our main course, I ordered the Tiki Docks Dockwich with the angus beef. This burger was tasty, seasoned well, a little too much in some parts and ordered with pink, so it was on the medium side. The shape was unique and the only explanation I could come up with was that it was shaped like a dock? It was a thin burger in the shape of a sub. Other than the shape, it was about the same as any other burger. My fiancé ordered the Perfect 10 Dockwich with chicken tenders. This was flavored with ghost pepper jack cheese. While ambitious, flavorful and spicy, her sandwich just fell apart and was instead eaten like a regular platter of chicken tenders. The fries that came with both our meals were pretty good. Crinkle cut, crispy, lightly salted and hot. In the end, we were stuffed and the dinner only cost around $35. Not bad for two meals and an appetizer at a sit-down restaurant. Our server was friendly and the ambiance was great. As the sun set and the cooler temps took over, it was a perfect outside dining setting. There was live music and festive lighting. However, while the ambiance was memorable, the food was just ok. That being said, this place is very heavily seafood focused so next time I'd try something along those lines. We would like to come back and try different things but only if the wait is reasonable or they have a better system in place. read more

My sister had the fried cod and French fries and the serving was HUGE! My other sister had shrimp and grits and I had grouper and grits and they were just awesome!
