Dunno, but if you're used to eating in the city, this place rates no higher than 3 stars. Hubby's $32 ribeye was mediocre: not the highest quality meat, maybe? Also, it hadn't been seared well. While in Beacon NY, we visited the VAULT, Restaurant on Main Street. My cousin and I ordered the Prince Island Mussels, pineapple chicken wings and the endive salad. The food was delicious! Unfortunately towards the end of our meal, we discovered a dead fly on the plate of our chicken wings. We immediately notified the waiter who called our waitress over to our table. She apologized and stated that " she couldn't understand how it got there and it was strange since the fly didn't have sauce on it." She seemed a bit defensive about it but decided to take the wings off the check. Not the most hospitable way to handle it and apology felt weak and insincere. Will NOT return again. read more

First time coming here for a late lunch and we were not impressed at all. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is great however the food was terrible. I ordered the flatbread, which came with veggies and cheese on top... however this wasn't a flatbread. It was 3 pieces of pita bread with under cooked and bland vegetables. My bf ordered the short rib grilled cheese with a tomato cream sauce.... again no flavor and the sauce was more of a crappy ketchup. Calamari was over cooked and chewy... overall very disappointed after spending nearly $90. Again waiter was nice and service was quick. Overpriced and overrated, we won't be back. read more

Updated review. My original review was five stars. Boy things have changed. I would stay away from the Vault. Save your money. The menus is tapas. I went there last night with my wife and another couple. We ordered a number of items from the menu. The only thing that was halfway decent was the lamb chops. Big deal they gave you three small lamb chops for $17. The waitress recommended the grill cheese brisket, she said it was one of the best things on the menu, really it was lousy, it had no taste, and the brisket was tough. We ordered two orders of corn on the cob. They were two small pieces on a huge plate which was a problem since all the plates did not fit on the table. We also had three other items which were sub par. The waitress was nice. We had dinner outside. That was a mistake. The chairs were old and uncomfortable the area was dirty and the table was a metal mesh , the dishes and glasses were sliding all over the place. We will no be going back to The vault. Great place. My wife and I had dinner there Saturday night it was our second time at this restaurant. My wife had the oysters on the half shell they were very fresh and clean..... delicious! I had a house salad, it was mixed greens. I had a 12 ounce ribeye with mashed potatoes. the steak was cooked to perfection and the mash potatoes had bacon corn and some other heavenly goodness I really enjoyed it. My wife had scallops with risotto she loved it. We shared a carrot cake for dessert and believe me we were surprised it was not what we expected it was homemade with a side of ice cream The restaurant is nice and clean and our server was excellent I gave him a very generous tip. I love this place and every time I come I am never disappointed. I almost always get the baby kale Cesar which is done right!! Few times I've had street corn which is superb, tacos, and even their desserts, and everything I've had has left me happy. If you're in beacon definitely give this place a try. read more

Opened in September 2015, The Vault is a good addition to the emerging dining scene in Beacon. The menu is focused on locally sourced, seasonal produce. They offer a lot of tapas-like small dishes to start. The kitchen prepares every dish from scratch, so they are able to accommodate special requests such as gluten free, low salt or no butter. My mother in law ordered steak, and it was the largest portion I've ever seen in a restaurant. My wife and I had arctic char and scallops. The seafood was well seasoned and fresh. Special requests may add to the time it takes for your dish to hit your table, but the food is worth the wait and the atmosphere is inviting. Nice decor and lighting. It's called The Vault because it was a bank, and the vault is behind the bar--which is very dramatic in its impact on the room overall. Stopped in because my favorite Beacon eatery--The Kitchen Sink--was closed. So, The Vault was an unexpectedly good surprise. I should add, the staff is super friendly. The service here is decent (friendly staff, but they never returned to refill our water until we were paying), and the food that's prepared properly is good. My friends and I particularly enjoyed the burrata and truffle fries. What I enjoyed significantly less was the clump of hair (multiple 1-2 inch strands) that we found in our hummus. These folks did a great job. I've been using Yelp for years to help me navigate dining decisions as going out to a great dinner w my wife is one of my life's joys. U have to learn to weed out the reviews of people that drag down ratings for a wonderful restaurant....they deserve a solid 4.5 overall rating. We had 4 courses of 2 dishes at a time, along w two rounds of drinks. Everything was great. A couple dishes needed a touch of salt, but that's an individual preference that is easily addressed so they get the full 5 stars from me. Super fun pairing the dishes. The staff is all business. Nice place but loaded with flies buzzing around us and our meals through the whole thing. We got an appetizer of mushrooms that was good, then 4 burgers, ordered rare and medium rare. A whole lot of hit and miss. Some of our experience here was really enjoyable. The place is vibrant and alive. The staff was generally pleasant. And much of the food we had was really well prepared. But the bar wall, in what is the bar area, but separate from bar itself, is a little awkward. On one side there is nowhere to put your legs if you want to sit, while the other side is great, with a large opening for ones legs. I had two of their mixed drinks before switching over to beer. The first one was excellent, the second nearly undrinkable. We also had four of their appetizers. Pretty much the same deal, two of them were exceptional. Since we have lived in the area, a lot of different places have come and gone from this location. The building is definitely interesting and is a nice place to hang out. Unfortunately, I think this will be another place that comes and goes for the following reasons. 1. The Details: We sat at the bar which looks into the old bank vault. It would be very cool except cases of bud light are stacked on the floor so it now looks like you are looking into their storage closet. Next, all the pictures above the bar are stylized pictures of bank vaults, they would be really cool except they are all crooked. The bar has the glasses to match the taps but they don't bother matching them. It seems like nit picky stuff but if a restaurant cannot get the details right in the front of the house, it makes you wonder what's happening in the kitchen. 2. We ordered four tapas plates. The sliders did not come out on mini buns but were placed on a store bought hamburger bun that was cut in half. The wild mushrooms were tasty but nearly impossible to eat with the crostini provided. The dried scallops were very tasty and well presented though. 3. They had a singer and guitar player who were very talented. However, the inside is mainly brick so the sound reverberates making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. If anyone was paying attention, they would have turned down the singer so she would create a pleasant ambiance instead of a folk rock concert. This place has potential but for the price, you are expecting an experience not just a meal. The recipes are good but good food is not enough. Went here today for an early Mother's Day lunch. Had a delicious selection had the vegetable frittata, and my family had the corn beef Ruben, salmon, and mussels. We looked forward to visiting The Vault based on reviews. We are locals and appreciate all the new dining options we have. The space is beautiful. Quickly greeted and seated at 7 pm. A big bonus in a town where u have to wait in most places. Menu should be rewritten. If waitstaff has to explain what the categories mean ("exchanges mean "tapas" etc) you lost me at hello. We ordered 3 exchanges one wine one beer. Total with tip $50. Took over 30 minutes to get them. The fig tapas was the size of 3 small olives for about $6. Pork belly was about 2 ounces of awesome pork but that tapas was $10. We have no problem in most restaurants in Beacon keeping at around $50. for a light Friday entrees were at $25 up. Disappointed in value. For high end high price it may be worth it. For regulars - not in o ur budget for the amount of food in the tapas. read more

Coming from the city I will say that the prices are the selling point of this place. We had a lot of food here for a very reasonable price. I think that calling this a tapas place is a bit of a misnomer. The amount of Spanish food on the menu was pretty small. The most Spanish thing that we had ordered, the pulpo, ended up being sold out (and we were only informed after placing our order and it going back to the kitchen). The scallop replacement we ordered was okay but pretty fishy smelling for my liking. We also ordered the meat and cheese plate, flatbread, mushrooms, street corn, Brussels sprouts, grilled cheese, and shishito peppers in addition. For the most part the food was okay but nothing I would come back for. I did not have the street corn because after the four people I was with tried it they said it was actually not good. Also, while the wait staff was nice the hostess barely heard us when we discovered a backpack at our table as we were sitting down. Our waiter was also way into this joke that our party was going to have a fight with each other and didn't quite know when to drop the joke. read more

Four of us headed to The Vault on a whim while seeing some foliage and doing some pumpkin picking in the area. We are very glad we did. Since the weather at the end of October has been oddly warm, we were able to sit outside. I saw a sign outside the restaurant that they had $6 "autumn spiced pomegranate" red sangria, sounded delicious so I got that. It was mediocre. Really had no taste. Almost had a watered down taste. We were all starving & decided to just get a lot of apps.. We ordered the roasted corn and Parmesan fritters, the roasted beets, crispy pork belly, the wings, short rib flatbread, burrata & the hummus & then a vegetarian dish. Our waiter Chris was super friendly and very helpful. He told us the items would come out as they were done, not come out all at once. Fine. The best things we ate were the corn fritters and the wings.. they were TO DIE FOR. Pork belly was delicious as well... fatty, but melted in your mouth. Hummus was good standard hummus.. The burrata was delicious as well. Came with asparagus, which we all loved. Super lemony tasting though. The roasted beets were delicious, although I didn't like how it was plated. Very big plate for basically one beet cut in 4's. The sauce with the beets was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the vegetarian plate. Very bland. Over cooked zucchini and eggplant. Could have done without it. I have to say the only reason I couldn't give this 5 Stars was because of the amount of time it took to get our food. It took 40 minutes just for hummus to come out. It was a scoop of hummus with some olives. Should take 5 minutes. We requested extra pita right away and it didn't come out until the hummus was gone. I think they forgot our burrata, we had to ask for it at the end after all the food was already done. We were just there for over 2.5 hours just for appetizers. Very slow service. It is so refreshing to go to a place where every single employee is as friendly as the next. At our first trip here we were greeted by someone who I assume to be the manager who explained the menu and a little bit about the restaurant. The bartender cam over right away and took our drink order. Both our cocktails were amazing and even though we only planned to get drinks we were tempted by some of their small plates. We ordered the mussels and the scallops. Although the mussels were good the scallops were absolutely amazing . Highly recommended. We've already decided to come back for Valentine's Day. Although the food we tried was excellent the reason I want to go back is the friendly service! If they keep it up they'll have a lot of repeat customers. read more

Just expect a very small portions for anything on a first page of the menu. Will be back to try their entries. We had a super great experience at this place. The waiter was fully knowledgeable of the ingredients used. Albeit this joint is pricey, Tapas are small plates( Small) they also offer full plates, specials and a burger. We had everything, and the food was top! Oysters, Clams, Cold shrimp,Tapas(calamari,corn fritters were the best I ever had) a burger, half order of of pasta carbonera,and seared scallops. Yes we went crazy and had dessert as well. Pretty bad service for brunch yesterday. Ordered a southwestern type of salad. The manchego cheese was awol. The waiter, who had fast and snappy sayings, such as "snap crackle pop" after taking our order, was anything but fast in service. I tried to get hot peppers for the salad and even though he said he'd bring them, it took forever. The salad was reasonably tasteless for all the nice ingredients in it. Bread was also difficult to get and was charged for it. Everything was slooowwww. My wife had a shaved cauliflower salad which was good, and she had fewer complaints than I. I'd look for somewhere else tather than return here, even though I cam once for dinner a couple years agi and had a much better experience. The waiter runied it for me. read more

Their menu is extremely diverse and little by little I am making it a goal to try every single thing there! We shared 4 tapas : -pork belly : delicious, came on top of peanut sauce -oxtail wonton ricotta : wasn't my favorite flavors but good mix of textures -chorizo sausage canelli bean ragout: full of flavor, on the spicy side -calamari : good crunch, also fried banana pepper slices and adds a bold flavor.
