In conclusion of my party of three outside of NYC escape winery crawl we had dinner at Piggy Bank in Beacon, NY. I had many piggy banks in my childhood, but it was always deficient and inadequate never filled with wealth. I was satisfied with the food and customer service. Our female server and male server Tim were both welcoming and attentive, but Tim was the man. He briefly chat with us noting that we are out-of-towners for ice breaker conversation starter. Tim was very welcoming to our party of three as I am obviously not a local resident who stick out like a sore thumb. I was very dismayed with my drink. Tim explained the past history of this building. There is no cellular signal. However, free WiFi access is available with password request. Wi-Fi network is "ThePiggyBank." The business name is Piggy Bank 2.0 in the former home of the original BBQ Piggy Bank. This retail space was the former home of a financial institution that defunct fifteen years ago, but the restaurant maintain the structures of the original large vault, vintage tin ceiling, and large windows are still in tact and visible. The restaurant contains the original red exposed bricks. Restroom facility is relatively clean. There are two WhistlePig Piggy Bank Rye, a limited edition, 10 year old straight rye whiskey packaged in an interactive, pig-shaped gold ceramic decanter bottle that functions as a working piggy bank located on a high bookcase behind the bar counter. Oh! Tim was very accommodating as I had to hurriedly exit to catch my MTA Metro North commuter rail, disappointedly return to NYC. The bill is distributed on a nuisance handheld digital device where you can choose gratuity of intervals of 18%, 20% or 22%. I am old school as I prefer to review my bill on printed paper. I did obtained my sales receipt on paper. No business cards are available when requested. The female server politely stated the unavailability of inability for business card as I inquired to request. It is here a self-realization for profound situational awareness that my piggy bank is full of wealth to create completeness. Buttermilk Chicken Fingers $16.00 Chicken fingers with BBQ sauce and fries. The chicken was moist due to buttermilk embedded. The chicken was piping hot that I was unable to consume until minutes later. The French fries were good as it already contained salt and it was not very thick. I have a high predilection for crinkle cut fries or shoe string fries as my preference. I could not finish my meal from being induced by my earlier wine intake. Lamb sliders special with salad $22.00 Three lamb slider burgers were a delight for my friend. The salad was light consisting of onion, dill and feta cheese. 8 oz. Smoked Brisket $24.00 It was well season and a joy accompanied with French fries. Salt and pepper rub was seasoned. Mint Condition $8.00 Mint leaves, lime juice, simple syrup, water, cranberry This is a non-alcoholic drink which is is served in a large martini glass in the same exact high level of sweetness and color of a alcoholic cosmopolitan cocktail. A cosmopolitan cocktail reminisce me of the TV show "Sex and the City" which in my young adulthood I have libation many cosmopolitans. Forward. My libation taste change with the passage of time. I was very dismayed with this drink because it is highly sweet heavily douse high content of syrup and cranberry. The sweetness from this drink linger for remnants in my mouth loosing interest for food. I could not finish. My party of three's pre-existing condition to conclude a day of winery tourism in New Paltz, NY, and Gardiner, NY all within the Hudson Valley region of NYS. Guinness $9.00 It was a joyful delight for my male friend. First thing I want to do is apologize to the Saturday afternoon manager who had to listen to my gripe about the $9.00 price for 2 small pieces of cornbread. Sorry . Oh, so you want a review? Well, even after all that rant, I must say, the food was great! And so was the service. The day manager I spoke of was also our server. She was great, it's not her pricing the cornbread . Her service was great and so was the way she handled herself with (my) issue. The ambience was cool, casual, and probably a fun night spot to go for a drink, they have a pretty big bar and bar area. So as a whole picture I would definitely go again. But if you're planning on going to Piggy Bank, plan on going to the bank first. It's reasonably priced, don't get me wrong, but the Sides and cocktails will get ya. I'll wrap this review up by saying, thanks to NYC tourism, all of Main St. feels they can charge NYC prices. Pretty loud and lively here, but the servers were very quiet to get people food over just serving drinks at bar. The slider flight was very good for what it it was worth, first the slider were on the larger side not bite size, all the meats, the pork, chicken and brisket were juicy and well seasoned and generous with the portion. I asked for teller fries over the regular that come with the flight since seasoned fries rocks, the fries were good but I wish they more crispier. Bit disappointing they supposedly come with a cup a teller sauce and when I pointed out they forget my sauce that comes with it, I was charged for it. Kind of the principle that with if something forgotten is free, just give it no charge. The teller sauce was very good, I used it in sliders as well as the fries. One and done! We should have checked the reviews first but-nostalgia got the best of me when I saw they were called the Piggy Bank again. This place is the epitome couldn't care less! Chicken sandwich on a stale cold sweet potato bun and undrained fries. The cheese steak was a joke dry and didn't taste anything like beef, stale bread fries tasted sour from used oil. Oh no. I hate to remove stars, but I'm afraid we were really disappointed tonight. Over dry rubbed wings with sauces that all tasted a bit "off." Not sure if everything is made with buttermilk that's white (salad dressing, bbq side sauce), but there was a tang to it that was unpleasant - almost as if they'd turned (they haven't - we're both fine). My family and I recently visited The Piggy Bank during one of our trips to Beacon--we try to explore a different restaurant each time we're in town. This spot seemed fairly new, so we decided to give it a try. The service was excellent. We were greeted and seated right away, and the staff was attentive throughout. We chose to sit outside, and menus were brought to us immediately. Our food came out quickly, which we appreciated. Portions were very generous--so much so that we couldn't finish everything. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the service. My kids had the chicken finger platter, my wife ordered the pulled pork, and I went with the smoked brisket. The fried chicken was the highlight--crispy and flavorful--but everything else was disappointing. The cornbread was hard as a brick, the fries were overly salty, and the brisket lacked flavor. We stopped by PiggyBank during a weekend getaway because we could smell the BBQ from a distance -- it immediately drew us in. The place was very busy, and it felt a bit understaffed. We sat for a while before anyone came over, and we didn't even get water at first, though to be fair, the staff were clearly swamped. The restaurant itself is pretty unique -- it used to be an old bank, and they kept the original vault, which is now used to store liquor. It's a fun and memorable feature. For food, we ordered a burger and a Pulled Pork Sandwich. The pulled pork tasted good, though it was a bit too salty. Surprisingly, the best part of both sandwiches was the bread -- soft, flavorful, and honestly better than the protein inside. The burger bun had a slight orange tint, which I think might come from local pumpkin, but either way, it was excellent. The fries were average, and the onion rings were just okay -- nothing special. Wow.... I came all the way back for a visit to Beacon New York and was thrilled to see that Piggy Bank on Main Street is still open and churning out fantastic food and cocktails every day! I was a little stressed out when I didn't see the cocktail that I had last time on the menu.... It must be a seasonal item but to me everyday is summer! (Seriously try the Spiked Sweet Tea) Luckily I was able to convince my amicable server to ask the bartender to make an exception and make the cocktail for me even though it was off menu! Great food, amazing cocktails, and a welcoming staff. A dog-friendly patio and beautiful dining room featuring an old bank vault with an elegant bar. We loved the house nachos and mozzarella sticks. We got the wing with the Alabama White sauce, which was delicious and unique flavor profile. Shout out to Tim for being an all-star waiter. He reflected the fun and friendly vibe of the Piggy Bank. I got scared off by the pics and complaints about the BBQ in the reviews, so thought I'd go for the Chx sandwich instead. Big mistake. The "chicken" was non existent. For a second I genuinely thought I'd accidentally ordered a veg substitute because I couldn't find it. The sandwich was 90% burnt breading, and that is not an exaggeration. Charging $18 for an actual sliver of chicken is insane. It was impossible to bite into because what little chicken there was had turned into jerky. I was hungry, so I ate as much as I could stomach, but more than half of than sandwich got tossed. read more

The Piggy Bank has potential but unfortunately the entire dining experience was lacking. On the upside: the setting is very nice on Main Street in Beacon. It's a good place for drinks at the bar. And it's a clean and welcoming restaurant. The waiter was excellent. (I give him 5-stars.) Also, the New Orleanian inspired fare might be tasty. The Po' boys looked pretty good. But don't go here for BBQ. The dry rub chicken wings were dried out and overcooked. (Probably the worst wings I've had in a long time.) The pork ribs were rubbery, and while cooked to food safety standards (USDA 145°), they were taken off the pit too soon. Therefore, they were very tough and unappetizing. (Gotta break down that connective tissue guys.) Worst of all, the small portion of overcooked, dry brisket was the biggest disappointment. For $15, you receive two slices of their poorly prepared beef brisket. It was pretty bleak. I sampled only two sides: the mac 'n cheese and the mashed potatoes. They were "okay" but not particularly noteworthy. In general, the whole dining experience was regrettable (and expensive). I think this is a relatively new restaurant (a reboot under new ownership). Perhaps they are still working out the kinks but the quality and presentation of their BBQ meats needs big improvements. read more

From the appetizers to the main courses to the desserts, everything is authentic, fresh, and delicious. Beautiful renovation! I really wanted to love this place as we haven't had a place in Beacon for barbecue. I was really disappointed with the quality of the food. My pulled pork was dry. I got two sides which were the mac and cheese and the cornbread. My mac and cheese tasted like it was not made in house. My cornbread was dry to the point that it was inedible. The service was good. I've been here a couple of times for drinks, but after having the food, it prompt me to leave a review. First, Kelsey and Ali are the absolute best! Always attentive with good conversation, slinging great cocktails behind the bar. They recommended the wings and mozzarella sticks and they did not disappoint! I usually like crispy wings, but the smoked wings were something else! We also got the brisket and it came out hot and was juicy and flavorful like the wings. Not dry at all compared to some BBQ places. The teller sauce is to die for! Great atmosphere and I love the play on words paying homage to the old bank that was previously here. The food was great but not ideal for kids as we got spoken to for our 3 year old who was kicking his feet the bottom of the booth a few time; the room was already loud. We were speaking to our kid who was then crying and some staff member or owner idk made us feel very uncomfortable and made our meal and experience non enjoyable. Our actual waiter was great. They were small, dry and very tough at the ends. Our second visit we tried pulled pork which was mushy. The sauce with it was tasty, on the side but made it even more wet. The brisket was good but it was 2 thin pieces. Hard to believe that the cornbread is made there. They were 2 pieces of little loaves similar to ones that you can purchase in the market. Casual and very friendly! AJ and Tim were wonderful. John had the brisket. He was so very happy with it. Liked it more than my home made Prime Rib! I had a wedge salad with chilled grilled shrimp. I really feel bad for the servers at this establishment! The owner is inexperienced and serving really HORRIBLE... not even mediocre food and knows it's not good ! Admits it to customers. Their food is all precooked and served out of a hot box NOTHING FRESH !
