A nice selection of board games while you drink

Right up the road from the Beacon train station and Bannerman castle boat tour dock. It was hot & humid we just finished the tour of Bannerman Castle, we needed to quench our parched mouths. Yes, water was also consumed, but a sampling of local beers is better. The main room of the taproom was cozy, the ack room was much more spacious. There were 7 beers on tap and one cider, we couldn't decide so we did 2 flights to try them all A nice array of flavors. There was a food truck in the parking lot if you wanted a nosh. We just got some popcorn and drank. Nice vibe. A couple was setting up to play live music. The Olympics was playing on their large screen next to the bar. Not a bad place to come hang after work with colleagues or friends.

Stopped by with some band mates shortly before closing (10pm) on a Friday Night. A few patrons hanging around and a dog or two. Tried their hazy IPA which was okay but not blown away. Cool space and friendly bartender. Even though we got there at last call, they didn't rush us out the door. The ambiance is decent but nothing super special. Definitely worth stopping in and checking out.

After a morning of hiking I stopped in with the hiking crew for a quick brew. When I think of "brewery" I always expect a really large space but this place is on the smaller size. They do have fairly large tables if you come with a small group and they even have some minor bar games you can attempt while drunk. I tried the "Zen" and found my zen chilling with great hiking friends. They offer a small selection of food and some outdoor seating as well. It's a cute spot if you want a quick brew. If you arrive with a really large group I'd be worried about seating, otherwise definitely a nice spot.

Stopped in after a long day at Storm King and Beacon NY. It wasn't too backed in the late afternoon on a weekend afternoon. There's plenty of room to sit inside and outside, and it's conveniently a 5 minutes walk to the station, so it's perfect as a last stop for the day. The day I went the kitchen wasn't open, but I'm not sure if that's something that happens often. Nevertheless, I was there to try some beers as I had heard great things about Two Way Brewery. There's a pretty good selection for all types of tastes. I decided to try the beer flight ($16) and chose the Confusion, Highland Haze (my personal favorite), Hesperides Cider, and Wanderer (left to right). It was nice to sit by the window, sip on some good beers, and wind down before going home. 10/10 would recommend as a stop before heading out of beacon for the day.

This was place was super chill to hang out at! Came with with my boyfriend for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon, staff is chill and the music was great. We drank a few rounds, got food, and played some games in their game room. Lots of choices and lots of hand sanitizer to go around. I like the wood aesthetic they have going on too and it's a big space. This place is also dog friendly. The food and beer were both very good as well! Definitely want to come back here with friends. My only complaint would be there were a good amount of gnats flying around so we just covered our drinks so they wouldn't end up flying into them. Besides that, great experience!

Brought my wife and friends here a little after the opened to enjoy a beautiful Saturday. Food: they really seemed to enjoy the beer and we were given popcorn which was probably the best I have had in a while. Aesthetic: deceivingly large with a cool games room which we didn't utilize. I like the flow of the place personally. Service: our bartender was super sweet and really cool.

Cute, cozy little place. Good beer. Now with hot food. We've yet to have their food, but judging by the look and smell of the tables around us, it's really good! It's kind of an out of the way place. But, that also makes it a unique and cool hide out, away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. That also makes parking a breeze. They have a large lot, as well as plentiful street parking. I've only been here 3 times so far, and haven't really had the time to stay and savor all their beers in sufficient quantities. But, so far, so good. Will definitely drop in again the next time we're in Beacon. Hopefully, next time I'll have more time to really stay and enjoy.

Nothing beats tasty flights, amazing free popcorn, & a cool view of the brewing process! :) (Photo credit: Avery Branchfield)

A Fan Since: November 2022 Looking for an amazing place to spend time, play games (board games, darts, pool, trivia, and more!), unwind, chat with friendly people, enjoy live music and events, savor incredible, locally-brewed craft beers and cider, and soak in a stunning view of the Hudson River? Search no further than Two Way Brewing Company! Located conveniently across from the Beacon Train Station, and just off of main street Beacon (tucked away in a nice, relaxing location), Two Way Brewing Company offers something fun for everyone! It quickly became one of my very favorite places in the Hudson Valley! I can further characterize this as my "home-away-from-home in Beacon!" :) This impressive establishment is comprised of two rooms that offer various interesting options for seating - such as relaxing in quiet nooks, soaking up the sun on the outdoor patio, lounging on couches and at stunning wooden tables (that were so artistically crafted!), and gathering at the beautiful bar area. Two Way Brewing Company derives its name from the "two way" Hudson River (which is technically an estuary that combines fresh and salty seawaters). It was initially called the "Muhheakantuck" (which translates to "river that flows both ways") by the Lenape tribe - who inhabited the lower Hudson River Valley. One aspect of Two Way Brewing Company that stands out to me the most is its incredible selection of rotating beverages - which are super refreshing, incredibly flavorful, and crafted to perfection (with fresh, locally grown ingredients and lots of care!) by the amazing and kind owners - the O'Herron Family! There are also plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available, as well as some wine options for those who don't prefer beer or cider - something for everyone! :) In regards to food, Two Way Brewing Company has its own kitchen that operates on some nights. When it's closed, patrons are permitted to bring their own outside food (which I really appreciate). Every night, they will serve up some of the best free popcorn you'll ever have! :) An additional aspect of Two Way Brewing Company that is noteworthy is how its versatility lends itself well to helping you enjoy your time there in various different ways. Specifically, it is a wonderful location to enjoy everything from a quiet, cozy, relaxing, and more solitary experience to a vibrant, energizing, and group-oriented one (and everything in between!). For example, there are times that I truly enjoy being there alone on an afternoon to cozy up in a corner with a book or to work on my laptop, and then there are other times (largely at night) where I go to enjoy more of an out-on-the-town vibe of playing games and trivia or watching concerts (that often feature/introduce me to amazing local talent!) and lectures (that are informative and generally pertain to teaching more about the Hudson Valley area!) with larger groups of friends. I have even seen people enjoy hosting private parties here! :) The owners and staff at Two Way Brewing Company are so kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and interesting to speak with. They truly treat every patron like family, and seek to help provide a positive experience for all. You can't go wrong with any of the brewery's incredible craft draft beverages. Additionally, I love how the options rotate on occasion, and sometimes with the changing seasons. While I am excited to try the other varieties of Two Way beverages in the future, I'd like to share with you now my very tried-and-true favorites: - Hesperides = my favorite hard cider EVER, ANYWHERE! :) - not too sweet, tart, or dry, and is very refreshing and delicious! PLUS, the apples for this are grown on the owners' family farm - which makes it that much more special and impressive! :D - 2 Way Wit = a wheat beer that reminds me of Blue Moon - but that is so unique and enjoyable in its own right! - Nitro = a stout - Irish dry that perfectly blends in flavors of coffee and has a really silky smooth, enjoyable texture - almost like Guinness! - Zen = a summer seasonal pilsner that is crisp and creamy - Confusion = a delicious light ale - Climb High = a really nice, well-rounded IPA One great way to enjoy Two Way Brewing Company beverages - especially if you've never tried them before - is to do a flight! :) Thank you very much to the amazing owners and staff of Two Way Brewing Company for providing such excellent care at your exciting, cozy, familial, friendly, wonderful, and important establishment! :) With appreciation, Avery B. :)

Life appears to return to normalcy pre COVID-19 era with businesses opening indoors again, or is it a mere illusion of normalcy? I am grateful to gather and see good friends indoors again especially in a air conditioned roof environment. Beer breweries are not my ambitious interest but I like to visit and patronize local businesses. I always have a predilection for wine, champagne or cocktails, but I do enjoy a good cider occasionally. The Hesperides Hard Cider was rather strong at 7.0% ABV that I felt light headed within mid-way of my one pint $7.00 drink. I did tasted the Fuji and Empire apples. I am always enamored with Fuji apples. All drinks must be ordered and paid at the bar. There appeared only one bartender name Ciaran S., but was attentive fully engrossed in his job. Beer flights are available as well as IPA, Sour Ale, Session IPA, India Pale Lager for craft beer options. The glasses served appears of a small wine glass with stem. Growlers, crowlers are available for purchase to be specifically consumed off premises. The space is wide open and stainless steel beer tanks are exposed with artworks affixed to the walls. Sadly, I did not attain my free popcorn as hoped. Upon entering there is a strong putrid pungent odor in the atmosphere possibly from hops. I would like guided tours on site. This business is adjacent to the MTA Metro North Beacon station and within walking distance. Outdoor and indoor seating are abundantly available. Drink and food menus are, thankfully, distributed on paper rather than scanning a business's QR code and viewing it on one's smartphone. I always prefer paper menus.

We tried both craft breweries during our Beacon visit. We were here to watch the sun go down. 2 Way has a very laid back vibe and the bartender couldn't have been nicer. A few people noshing and playing their board games. Now the beer. Tried their flagship and their red ale. Both ok. Not hitting the artistic level of the other craft brewery in Beacon or in many other places. So my three score is based on a beer level I found here. Beer is ok. Drinkable. Not blowing us away as craft however. Still...this place was a relaxed place to chill for 40 minutes for us.

Loved the rustic feel , very hip spot as well . My husband and I came here after hearing good reviews on this spot and just to check it out. Overall it wasn't a bad place . The food was overall good but kinda of pricey and the beer was up there in price as well . The beer was alright wasn't really my favorite. Definitely come here and check this spot out , loved the views as well .

This place is off the beaten path but is cool and laid back. It wasn't packed at all on a Saturday afternoon which is shocking for a brewery. They have a good amount of beers and with two different flight options. The one way flight for $8 where you get 4 beers or a two way flight for $14 where you get 7 beers. In both flights you're choosing which beers you would like and they had one cider on tap while we were visiting. My boyfriend and I opted to get two of the one way flights because we wanted to each have our own beers. The percentage of the beers is not listed on the board at all and we were told that none were below 6% but when looking at their website that wasn't true. Air quotes was my favorite out of all the beers they had on tap. None of the beers were amazing though. They have shuffle board and lots of other games to entertain yourself with during your visit. The staff is nice and freshly popped popcorn is given to you upon request. We didn't have any big meals while here but we did order a basket of fries to snack on and those were good. They also do a A $5 pint of the week which is a cool idea

Stopped by this brewery towards the end of Saturday night as most other spots were closed. Large taproom with both a space up front as well as in the back. Kitchen was closed for the night so ended up just having some brews. Decided on the "X1" ($6) - an IPA with a moderate amount of hop and a light finish. Liked the beer enough to get a 4-pack of the "Climb HighPA" to go - a remarkably smooth yet hoppy beer. Despite only one bartender we got our drinks quickly, as well as the check. This spot also has board games to boot if you can find all the pieces.

Ask the Community - Two Way Brewing Company

Is there a food menu? Do they sell any type of food?

Yes! They have great fries and a range of delicious food to go with the beer. If you are in Beacon you have to check it out!

Can you recommend a good beer for someone like me who is a red one drinker? I just can't seem to find a beer I like.

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

We shared a bottle of Madonna Dell Donno Barolo wine which was probably not the best choice for the sea bass but was an outstanding match for the lamb ragu. The cocktails and dessert were also perfectly done!

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !

What was really disappointing was the baguette. When I think baguette, I think crusty, hot, out of the oven. The texture of the baguette was weird because it almost had more of a pretzel like exterior that was chewy and not crispy. For mains, we had the crispy chicken sandwich and the cassoulet. The sandwich was kind of a letdown. The flavors were all nice, but there was no textural difference. The bun was a little too big for the sandwich, the avocado, and the other toppings, just all kind of mushed into each other. It was perfectly enjoyable, but just nothing to write home about. The cassoulet was very good. There was a nice depth of flavor and smokiness to the meat. Overall, no complaints. It did seem as though our mains probably sat under a heat lamp. My guess is that because we were still working on the appetizers they did not want us to feel rushed, but with this kind of meal and the price point, they should do a better job pacing, or they should just bring the food out when it comes out. I would rather have the fresh hot food out of the kitchen, than have it sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, the meal was lovely. There were a lot of really high points. There were also some disappointing parts of the meal. Given the price point and the feel of the round house, the few missteps hit a little bit harder. But we would absolutely come back again. It was an overall very nice experience and we enjoyed our ourselves.

Friendly waitress answered our menu questions and took our order quickly. We had the bar pretzel, grilled chicken sandwich, the mushroom burger and Chocolate Chip Lava cake. Both exceeded our expectations. Chicken sandwich had two juicy, seasoned pieces of chicken with toppings. Salad was fresh and house dressing was great. The mushroom burger was juicy and flavorful. The lava cookie cake lacked the lava typically expected but was nonetheless delicious, definitely would order again. There were two seating areas and a large bar that accommodated everyone well. Noise level was good, restroom was spacious and clean. Definitely going back when I'm town!!!!

We were greeted warmly and seated promptly and ordered drinks immediately. Being a Prince fan, I ordered a "Nothing Compares" cocktail which was great. My smashburger was also very good. My dining mates enjoyed their food and even more so the engaging banter with our amazing waitress. She sold us on the brownie cheesecake for dessert, but the three of us couldn't finish it even though it was delicious. We were so full! Overall, I enjoyed this and look forward to returning. Great food, efficient and engaging service at reasonable prices make this a hit in my book.

It was founded by husband and wife Johnny Coughlin and Alyssa Follansbee. Coughlin is a cinematographer by trade while Follansbee is a public school art teacher. In 2011, the couple were both living in the Wicker Park area of Chicago. When the Emporium Arcade bar opened in their neighborhood, they both fell in love with the concept of an arcade bar. They later moved to New York City and visited as many arcade bars as they could with the intent to one day open one of their own. By 2018, the couple relocated upstate to Beacon to start a family. It dawned on them that Beacon would be a great location to open a "barcade". The couple didn't just want to open a place for adults to chase the nostalgia of their childhood, but rather a place that the whole family could enjoy. After securing a location on Main Street, and after a short delay from the COVID-19 pandemic, Happy Valley Arcade Bar finally opened to the public. I recently visited Happy Valley with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. I've loved arcade bars since the first time I visited a Barcade location in 2014. I love sipping on excellent craft beers while enjoying the classic arcade cabinets of my youth. I also appreciate it when arcade bars are family friendly, as both of my sons have also taken an interest in arcade games. We all enjoyed the interior of Happy Valley with all of the crazy colors and spaceship-themed decor on the walls. There was a decent selection of classic arcade cabinets as well as pinball machines, both of which kept my sons occupied for a while. In addition to a nice selection of craft beer on draught, the bar also offers wine, craft cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and various bar bites such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and mac 'n' cheese bites. There were also plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We had already eaten lunch earlier, but I was definitely in the mood for some tasty brews while I played some games. I first enjoyed a Thin Man Brewery's "Pills Mafia" (German Pilsner) followed by an Old Glenham Brewery's "Weaver's Pale Ale" [on cask]. Both of them were flavorful and refreshing. We ended up staying for over an hour; it was nice bonding time for my sons and me. We will definitely stop in again the next time we're visiting Beacon!
