Upstate NY for a 30th birthday trip. My boyfriend's all time favorite beer is Sloop's Juice Bomb. Little did I realize when booking the trip, that we were staying 45 minutes from the brewery. Obviously that meant a trip! The excitement was unmatched walking into the building. Peeking in the back where the beer is made, so cool. The open room of the venue itself was nice as well. Lots of merch, lots of beer to go. We purchased two crew necks, a hat, and some beer. The staff behind the bar were able to help answer any and all questions that we gave to them. THEN we sat down to eat. Juice Bomb pint (obviously) and a Happier Hours pint. Started with the chilequiles tater tots and holy heck those were delicious. The tots here...I don't think I'll ever be able to have tots like that again, no one elevates them like this I am afraid. And the pizza was great too. We didn't have any of the beers, but no one shamed us for that lol It wasn't busy when we got there, but I am sure it does get busy in there. Being from NYC area I am used to places having tons of competition or there being plenty of alternatives. Always enjoy dropping in at Sloop. We've always come at quiet times in the afternoon for a quick bite and it's been pretty low key which is nice. Can't speak to any other times of the day though. Service has always been friendly. They make shockingly legit pizza!! Dough is flavorful, fluffy, chewy, crispy, and lightly charred. It's just delightful haha. We've enjoyed a number of different pies, most recently it was the BLT which was topped with ground bacon, stracciatella, and arugula tossed in a nice acidic vinaigrette. For anyone with any mobility challenges: It's pretty accessible! Lots of accessible parking, a ramp to enter, door is a bit heavy if you struggle with that. There's a long but large, open hallway to get to the brewpub, and that itself is spacious with a mixture of low tables and high tops in the bar area. I love that Sloop has a factory vibe! I found out it used to be an IBM semiconductor plant. They left a lot of the old stuff around the brewery. We sat at the bar where you see more pieces imbedded inside the bar itself. The menu board is a big retro vibe. I've never seen a display like that before! The bartender was super nice. She was quick to take everyone's orders too! She was in charge of getting beers for the servers and she never missed a beat. We tried a variety of the beer. The flagship Juice Bomb was very juicy and a big hit. I really liked the other beers, as well. They also serve food. I didn't get to try any of the food but it had a lot of options. This is a nice spot when you just want something to pick on along side a tasty beverage. We went on the 26th of December and they were exchanging unwanted Christmas gift for one of there swags. Haha. I fortunately didn't have any gift that needed exchanging but I wish I had something so I could get the tie dye shirt. We had the No Santa IPA, which tasted great. We ordered the cousin Eddie pizza, a corn dip with nacho and pretzel bites. It did not disappoint. We were then surprised by trivia night, which made the evening that much more fun. Been coming here a long time...things have changed around us but the food and beer always stack up. While prices have risen and portions may have gotten smaller, the flavors are solid. Our favorites are the Red Hot Chili-roni pizza and the peanut butter bacon burger - no substitutions allowed. PB, bacon onion jam and house made beer pickles make this burger a 1 of a kind! Great food, great beer, great service. I have been to some breweries that have been located in industrial places but "the Factory" part of Sloop in its name is an understatement. Though they do seem to have space for seating outside, the actual seating place is quite a walk inside. While enjoying two flights of beer here I had the Red hot chili pepper-roni - Charred pepperoni cups, calabrian hot peppers, plum tomatoes, & house cheese blend w/ sichuan peppercorn honey, pizza. It was perhaps a bit strong to pair with the beers in the flights, but it still worked out well. read more

I have been going to Sloop the last two Thursdays for Trivia. We have had beer and pizza. Both have been very good! We were quickly started and our drink orders were taken quickly. It was a nice day so we decided to go for a drive and visit this brewery and wasn't sure what we would expect. This is one of my husband's favorite beers to drink. It is in an industrial area and the place is huge from the outside! Plenty of parking there. We sat at a high top table near the bar and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He explained all the different beers to us and didn't rush us at all. We spilt a pizza and a few drinks. Husband really liked the beer and got some to go. Delicious small-town coop brewery, that cranks out some seriously medieval and yet fresh, pungent, thirst quenching beers, IPAs, ales and more. Found these beers at a nearby beer shop, now I will have to go to the actual brew house (aka 'the Factory') near Fishkill! At first I thought, from the look of the cans, the vibe of the palette explained and the colors, that it was going to be outrageously sweet. It wasn't. The hints were subtle, the flavors crisp, the finish tart and in my opinion, very original. It quenched my thirst doing work outdoors. Fun discovery after doing some apple picking at nearby Fishkill Farms. The Factory is part of Sloop brewing. The space is large and very open. A few families and kids were letting them roam on the concrete floor. Lots of folks doing beer flights. We got their signature Juice Bomb IPA. Was classic IPA, unfiltered. Also got the burgers. The o.g. burger: a classic american cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, house-made juice bomb pickles, & sloop special sauce. Served with choice of sides. We got fries. The other surprise hit was the peanut butter bacon burger with peanut butter, bacon & onion jam, aged cheddar, & house-made juice bomb pickles. Was juicy and delicious. read more

This brewery is in one of the buildings that use to be owned by IBM. Really neat to reuse an old building. I like how the bar also has old parts from computers in the bar for decoration. The interior is very industrial and really cool. But then you step into the bathroom and I feel like I am back in elementary school. I had the Octoberfest and it was very good. It was crisp and full of body and I would recommend it again. There was a sign in the entry for a pretzel. I asked and the man said it was an off menu item. I got it and I see why this is an off menu item. It is just a frozen pretzel that was heated through served with mustard on the side. I recommend to skip the pretzel. The beer is delicious. The gentlemen working at the bar was friendly and helpful. The woman that took our order was sort of on the grouchy side. Now I love the interior industrial atmosphere. I drove kind of far to get there and went to the bathroom. OH MY GOSH! Beyond disgusting! Toilet seats were not properly attached, trash all over the floors, and just disgusting and lights were not working. I have been at cleaner truck stops than Sloop bathrooms. Since this is Octoberfest there was a live band playing. They were very good and really enjoyed it, but since you are in a warehouse, the volume is quite loud. If you live near by, I would say come and check it out, but skip the bathrooms. If you live far way, skip this place there are better places to go. read more

If you are a fan of Sloop beers, as i am, then try to get here and try them at the source. I got to try 3 different beers, things that I don't see at my local beer retailers. I was supposed to meet my wife here for a drink and something to eat, so while I was waiting (and drinking), I had a small appetizer, the chickpea fries. They were delicious and worthy of a gastropub, not just a brewery. Bottom line, I will do my best to get back here again. And again! read more

Sloop makes a fantastic selection of beer and it's fabulous that you can not only taste those right at the brewery (make sure to get flights!), but also pair it with some decent pub food. I tried the acclaimed "absolutely no modifications" peanut butter burger - an interesting spin on a cheeseburger. The peanut butter gave it a slightly more nutty taste, but was neither totally weird nor skyrocketing amazing. I went to Sloop Brewing Co. after going to storm king center and was actually underwhelmed, but it is one of my favorite beers so I wanted to go check it out. I loved the pixie dust and also the juicier beer option their vodka pizza was phenomenal. Nice setup in a large space. Came here for one of my first post-vaccine outings and it was great to hang out with several friends! The space is great and set up for social distancing. It's all indoors, which is okay but I wish they had some outdoor space. Service was great and the food we had (pizza and chicken sandwich) was really good. I like their beers but if you're not an IPA fan, there's not a lot to choose from. They didn't have any darker beers, even in cans. I had a Down Under IPA and a Pilsner. I enjoyed both. My friend who is a porter and stout fan was out of luck. The other thing I wish they could do is use a POS system that makes it easier to split bills. It feels weird passing around one check with everyone touching it these days. I went to a place in Massachusetts were the server had a little device and he was able to pull up your order and you could just tap your card and pay. It was quick, easy and touchless (although I think I had to click a button for the tip). But overall a great place and I'd be happy to return. read more

After apple picking we had worked up quite an appetite and we found Sloop nearby. I wasn't able to try any hard ciders at Fishkill so I got a small glass at Sloop. It was really refreshing! Both my husband and brother in law got a flight of beers. What really impressed me about sloop was the selection of food! Not often will you find a brewery with good food but we were all pleasantly surprised. We ordered the sloop burger with fries, brisket rice bowl, and the chilequiles tator tots to share. The burger was perfectly cooked and I actually enjoyed the spicy ketchup it came with. The brisket rice bowl was solid as well with the brisket and soft boiled egg-it reminded me of a dish my mom makes and it was a winner in my book. The chilequiles tots were good as well-the cotija cheese and crema complemented the tots perfectly. Service was great too which is always a major plus. Go check them out! Decided to try their peanut butter burger and I definitely would not recommend this if you have digestive issues/heart issues! It is a very heavy burger and I got indigestion after finishing it off; it's definitely for someone who can eat a little more! It's mostly what you would expect; the peanut butter is the smooth kind and it did kinda go well together. Felt like something was missing, but I would give it a try if you're curious. Very filling and the fries were so good, just the right amount of salt and fried to perfection. The inside is very loud and has a casual hangout feel. Great for eating out with friends or with family. Nothing beats football Sunday at a brewery with good food and beer! If we're in the area again, we'd return. Sloop is in a cool building in a sprawling former IBM office campus. Plenty of tables and hi-top seating inside along with bar seating, so a great place for a couple, a family or a large group. There are arcade games and plenty of TVs around the dining area so it's a great place to hang out and watch a game or play some arcade games. Since this was the tail-end of Oktoberfest, there was a live band playing towards the end of our meal which was a nice surprise (and they were good!). Food: We ordered the "Chilaquiles" Tater Tots, the Blush pizza (vodka sauce, ricotta, mozzarella), and the Sloop burger. If I were to rank order the three by preference, I'd go with the pizza, burger and then the tots. There's a large brick oven in the kitchen that gets you a beautiful char on the wood-fired pizza we ordered - loved the combo of ricotta and mozzarella w/ the vodka sauce on the Blush that we ordered. The Sloop burger was enjoyable - hard to beat a smash burger w/ caramelized onions. W/ the tots, I wanted more crispiness, as they were a little softer for my taste, and I needed a bit more flavor from the salsa verde. Beers: Fresh Pressed Juice Bomb, Interstellar Burst and Down Under Bomb. I enjoyed the Down Under and Interstellar the most while the Fresh Pressed was just okay. After hearing amazing things about Sloop Brewing and reading their interesting food menu, we decided that it was a place we simply had to visit. They were offering indoor seating in their massive space but at a limited capacity, as well as dining tables outside beneath a large tent. We were still not comfortable being in a confined space and were able to secure a table outside without an advanced reservation. My boyfriend ordered Sloop's signature Juice Bomb IPA, which was fruity and hoppy without being bitter. I opted for the Super Soft, another one of their New England IPA's, but with less hops and more citrus. We each loved our brews, adding them to our mental list of overall favorites. We ordered some food to accompany our beers. For me, it was a Kid's Cheese Pizza with ripe tomato sauce and creamy, flavorful mozzarella cheese. For him, it was an order of Dan Dan Noodles, a creative rarity to be found on a brewery menu. The delicate noodles were topped with tender ground pork that had been cooked with scallions, sesame, Sichuan peppercorn, and chili oil. The spicy plate was served with a tasty side of sautéed spinach. Sloop Brewing surpassed our expectations by delivering an experience beyond what most breweries provide. Drink the delicious beer at home and purchase it at a local distributor. The venue is crap. Sloop needs to find a nice area with a scenic outdoor. This location is terrible and does not do justice to an otherwise excellent beer. Food is average at best, so stay home and enjoy their the product in the back yard!! Good attempt to replicate more successful venues of beer brewers, but certainly not worth the trip from anywhere. The rating I left is for the venue, not the beer.
