Mexican Corp Dip
Michaela P.

Really solid pizza with a strong sense of identity. The space leans full nostalgia as the name suggests, with its VHS tapes on the walls, retro artwork, and just the right amount of kitsch to feel cool without trying too hard. The crust is spot on: golden, crackly, and chewy in all the best ways. The La La Land with vodka sauce was the clear standout. It's rich and tangy without being too heavy, and we added sausage for that savory boost, precisely what the sauce wanted. The White Lightning (ricotta, garlic, pickled peppers) was also a win, though I found myself wishing for a drizzle of honey to round it out. And the Mexican corn dip? Unreasonably good. You'll want to ask for extra "Juan-ton" chips upfront. Why do restaurants always under-deliver on dip vehicles? Justice for dips. Didn't get to try the cocktails this time, but they looked promising. Still not sure how I feel about paying extra for parm... maybe I'll splurge next time and report back.

Great cocktails.

Traveling from PA to NH and needed to find a place to stop for an early dinner. Found this place on Yelp and was only 5 minutes off route. Wow! Everything about this place was awesome! It's located in the back/basement of a building. The devote is retro and interesting. Our waitress was super nice. I was trying to decide between two drinks and she said she would recommend one over the other, but if I didn't like it, she would have the bartender make the other. We ordered the shaved salad. She said everything is made to order, so we left out the mandarin oranges. It was super flavorful. We ordered the Detroit-style pizza, half pepperoni, half sausage. It was SO, so good. The sauce was excellent. All the ingredients were well-balanced, not too much or too little of anything. Sliced in strips, so easy to hold. Very enjoyable. My Oh, Summer cocktail was excellent! It had watermelon and cucumber, refreshing. If you're ever in Newtown, worth the stop!

They don't call it Detroit Style on the menu. But Good Old Days Pizza in Newtown makes the best CT Detroit Style I've had anyway. So many Foodies rave about Good Old Days. I've wanted their French Onion pizza since I first saw it on Instagram. It was perfection. The awesome cheesy garlic bread vibes. The crispy side crust. The sweet sugary onions. The way the mixed Gruyère and mozzarella melts and tastes. The color on the bottom. Great pizza. The space is also very cool. I ate outside. Service was friendly. They have good beer choices. All good stuff. I don't know where people had Detroit Style this good in the Old Days. But they were lucky as hell. I don't live nearby, but I'll definitely make the long drive back. Five Stars

Another great dinner we had the gorgonzola salad, which was just amazing and the beach body pizza! Outstanding

Was crushed when we had friends drive out to try the Tommy and Dill pizza but we were pleasantly surprised by the Supersize Me and Spicy Italy pies!! The spicy vodka sauce on the Spicy Italy pies was out of this world. As bummed as we were to not get what we came for, we still appreciate how Good Old Days consistently uses fresh ingredients for all of their food!

We came back two weeks and got there about thirty minutes they opened, hoping it would guarantee us a square pie! Service was great, they are a pretty chill staff, not up in your business but the right amount of attentive. The French Onion pie was everything and more, not your average pie! The sausage pie also hits the spot every time, can't go wrong. Tip: since the square pies do take quite a bit longer, share a delicious salad, it won't disappoint!

I have been hearing about Good Old Days for a while on Yelp and reading pizza reviews. My daughter and I took the trip up there to try there pizza. The restaurant was very welcoming with famous food chefs pictures and back in day memorabilia. What I loved about the restaurant was the old VHS tapes stacked up with the movies such as back to the future. We ordered a pizza with half Pepperoni and Cheese and we also ordered the Bikini Bod with Hot Honey Sauce. The Bikini Bod was very delicious but for me it was very decadent. I could only eat about two or the slices. The flavors are great and that hot honey sauce is the bomb!!! I would definitely buy a bottle of that and put it on Fried Chicken. The half Pepperoni and Cheese pizza was delicious. Very crispy and the sauce was very flavorful. My daughter loves cannolis and wanted to order some. I really didn't care for them. The chocolate on the cannolis in my opinion was bitter but my daughter throughly enjoyed them as she ate all of them. The customer service was definitely on point. Are waitress was new but she did a really great job with customer service.

I had to come see what the hype was all about and it did not disappoint!! I started with the vodka square pie, not sure why but I was really craving a square pizza specifically and it was so delicious. Definitely hit the spot! I can't believe I'm just now trying it after being so close. Next time I will go back for the French onion soup one!!

WOW! This quirky basement will become your go to place. It is a smaller space so be sure to get there early if you don't want to wait. They do stay open late and turns into a fun bar scene. The bartenders and wait staff are attentive and friendly. The menu features specialized, unique pizzas, salads and cocktails. You can opt for any pizza on thick or thin crust even if it's displayed on the menu otherwise. Although it is pricey, the taste is well worth it.

Cute spot with decor of people You would most likely know & love. Our waitress was welcoming and relaxed. I appreciated our waitress did not seem bothered when I asked ice for my water. My husband loves a thin crust pizza which Good Old Days has. However, hubby let me choose tonight and I like a thicker pizza. I opted for the Plain Square Pepperoni. The cheese was ooey gooey and perfect. The pepperoni cupped and plenty of it. We'll be back to try the thin crust. Until next time Good Old Days!

Unassuming from the outside, this local treasure opens into a cozy restaurant and event space with exceptional food and drink. Between the crackling fireplace, plush lounge seating, warm wood accents, sleek bar, and navy banquettes, the atmosphere feels both inviting and refined. The bartenders and entire staff were warm, polished, and genuinely attentive, creating an experience centered around the guest. My martini was aggressively shaken and served in a short coupe, topped with a delicate layer of ice crystals; despite the chill, the vodka-to-vermouth ratio was perfectly balanced. It was garnished with stellar Castelvetrano olives, freshly opened and proudly presented as an elevated touch to the classic cocktail. As for the fare, it was hands down one of the best meals I've enjoyed in quite some time. The Wagyu coulotte was cooked to perfection, accompanied by expertly prepared oyster mushrooms and crisp shoestring tallow fries. I could go on and on about the experience, but I'll simply say I can't wait to return. The thoughtful details and genuine hospitality made for an outstanding night out. My wife and I were at a distillery in Roxbury. We live in Danbury. I was looking for a quality food…read morespot in between and newtown came to mind. So, knowing that Sugo existed, I immediately routed us to their location, as this is a place that's been on my list of places to try. Short view? Everything started great. But did not follow through. The service was awesome. Our waitress, and forgive me as I cannot remember her name, was amazing. When we arrived we observed her interactions with her child and it automatically endeared her to us. And, as a server she was absolutely top notch. We understand from conversations, that she often works the bar. Either way she is awesome and the bright spot of our experience. The ambiance of the place was beautiful. Super refined looking, albeit with uncomfortable chairs at the tables. But I'm not looking for "comfort" per se, I'm looking for beauty. And this spot hits the mark. The we began ordering. Off the cocktail menu, I ordered their version of a pina colada and it was tasty af but definitely weak. My wife ordered a dirty martini with bleu cheese olives that she felt was weak. After those, we each ordered French martinis, that were super lacking in all flavor save for vodka. So strong, a bonus, but not good. As an app, we ordered their calamari which I order everywhere we go. This one lived up to the standard. Nice, big, meaty pieces of squid. A good breading, and a decent (if not underwhelming) sauce. I ordered their version carbonara as a main, and it was likewise, underwhelming. It was over buttered and over creamed. Which, if one knows anything about a traditional carbonara, it involves neither butter nor cream. I get that this is a gastropub and as such they will take liberty with ingredients and traditions; however, if I can make a better one at home... what's the point? My wife ordered the seafood grill which included branzino and shrimp. The branzino was delicious (but slightly over), but the shrimp stopped everything. The shrimp was rotten. On the plate it smelled like an unclean barn. I will say, we had to bring this issue to the attention of our server, and she kindly and appropriately comped our latter two drinks as a result. This made us happy as the drinks comped over the price of the plate, however, the smell is one that stays with us. Even at the time of this writing. We finished up our meal. I took home most of my carbonara as I felt confident I could make it taste good at home, but that's not the point of dining out. If and when I spend this type of money on food, I expect it to be right. This experience was not right. And if it weren't for the server, this review would be a 2 star.
