This brewery is somewhat new to the area, but fits right in! Been here on a handful of occasions and have never left disappointed. A few years ago, we had a large group outing and HAW was amazing - great food, space, and beer. We have been coming back a few times a year and each visit is better than the last. We recommend grabbing a flight to sample their beer - there's guaranteed to be a draft you enjoy. If you're driving, consider one of their sessionable ales or low abv IPAs. I thoroughly enjoy their Belgian Style MonkHe See, MonkHe Do Dubbel. 8% and delicious. If they tap the Coconut Vanilla Stout, it's a must try. Their food is great and filling. The gastropub is decently sized and very inviting! Walking in felt like you were definitely in a relaxed place to grab a beer with friends and to have some fun. The hostess and bartender was great at explaining the beer options and what they had on tap which was great for people who are just getting into beers in general. The light beers were refreshing and very bright in flavors, I suggest the Hazy Boi Pineapple if you are looking for a fruity more tropical type beer. The dark beers I tried were the Cocoliente and the Coconut Vanilla Stout. Both were creamy in texture and tasted similar to coffee and chocolate. The bacon cheese smash burger is great and definitely tasty. If you are looking for a good food and beer combo this is the place to be! read more

Hudson ale Works is a comfy community brewery. There are three different rooms the first room you could go to the bar and order your food and your drinks in the second room. It's more for seating and eating and then they have a big room with different games in it. Including a hook game and another really fun game. I have never played before with pegs and balancing it on a wheel. While I was at Hudson Ale works I ordered the pretzel and beer cheese and some of the people at my table also ordered the nachos as well as the chicken sandwich special. Everything looked really yummy as well as tasted really good too. You can also get flights of beer here as well as cocktails. I ordered a hard seltzer and it was perfect for me because I'm not necessarily a beer person. But other people at my table ordered the Pilsner and they enjoyed it. read more

Did not fall in love with most of the beers here but I did really enjoy the sour on tap. Very reasonably priced beer flights ($8 I believe) and the pretzel we ordered was very very delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Few picnic tables out front. Especially of note was the super sweet, huge indoor space. I visited Hudson Ale Works on Saturday afternoon when they opened. I was visiting the Poughkeepsie area for the day so I could cycle the Rail Trail. I thought it would be fun to stop and visit some area breweries on my return trip. First stop of the day: Hudson Ale Works. I ordered a taster flight of the four different IPAs that they had on tap. My favorite was their 'Hazy Boi - Mango', a New England IPA with Mango added. I heard that they had excellent brunch food, but I was informed that the employee who normally prepares brunch was gone for the weekend. Instead I had some tasty pretzel bites with beer cheese. They paired nicely with the beers. I bought some Hazy Boi - Mango to go, packed it into my saddlebag, and I was on my way. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I would visit again if I'm in the area again. read more

This is a great place to visit for drink, conversation, and food, and it went on my "must visit more often" list almost instantly. There is a nice variety of brews on tap, hopefully something for everyone. The friendliness of the staff here is infectious, and it's hard not to get into conversations with them and the people sitting around you. The prices for food and drink, and especially the samplers, are reasonable too. The only food I got today was a pretzel, warm and dark-crispy with the right amount of salt, served with two mustards, and I found myself pouring the sriracha mustard on the pretzel for just about every bite. The paninis I saw delivered to other tables were "unlock your jaw to eat them" thick. I need to come back here more often, and bring some other friends who will enjoy it here. read more

Stopped in after some rock climbing in the Catskills. It was quiet on a Saturday at dinner time, so we worried we made a bad call. Nope! Everything was delicious. We tried a few of the beers on draft and enjoyed them all- especially the mango IPA. We ordered several items from the starters menu and the portions were large enough to suffice as our meal. Stuffed! Not sure where the crowds were, but hopefully this place gets the business it deserves. We'll be back to sample the rest of their drinks and try their entrees soon! read more

Stopped in for lunch while biking the Walkway Over the Hudson. Had the Coconut Vanilla Stout and the Highland Helles. Both delicious on a very hot day. Also had 3 House-smoked brisket tacos. Outstanding. My wife had a delicious root beer, very different, crisp and refreshing. Also a huge serving of tasty nachos with shredded chicken, sour cream and jalapeños. Excellent brewery. First visit and my wife and I were super happy. They have excellent beers, great service and a nice location. We were impressed with the quality of their beers (and we don't impress easy). They serve a great variety of beers and also offer single cans of any of their brews to go, which is kind of cool. What a great find. We slid into HAW just as they opened on a Sunday and had the place (initially) to ourselves. The beertenders were delightful and the owner/brewer was beyond solicitous. But who cares about that - the beers were what we were there to try and they were, to the one -fantastic. We sampled the full tap list (sans the two sours) and all of the beers were very nice examples of the style. The standouts for us were the Mosaic Session IPA, the Helles, the Czech Pilsner and the beyond good S'Mores Porter. As the Helles and Pilsner indicate, I'm a believer in beer flavored beer. I'm a self professed beer snob (snot?) and often criticize breweries for venturing into liquid desserts (Death By Chocolate Cheese Cake Oreo Flurry Stout anyone?). Beer is not a toy, and get off of my lawn!! But HAW's S'Mores Porter smelled like a proper S'More, but tasted like a rock solid Porter with a distinctive kick. Not cloyingly sweet - just a solid beer evocative of a favorite fireside treat. The poster-child for other breweries trying to make beer fun. The tap list showed a nice knowledge of non-IPA beer styles. Their Belgian Dubbel was particularly nice and very respectful of the style. We also partook of the noshy end of the food menu and can confirm that the small bites are just right. A great stop just north of the Poughkeepsie Metro North station - well work the trip up (or down) the Hudson. Can't wait to go back. read more

Hudson Ale Works has a good list of beers, which are brewed on site, and also some food options. This is a small brewery, so the beer list is limited, but they are good. I particularly like the black IPA, and their everyday IPA. The space is cozy although their metal chairs are very uncomfortable. They have expanded into additional rooms that allow families to come to the brewery, and supply board games as well. All in all, I enjoy the atmosphere of this local homegrown business. read more

We went on a Saturday night and the hours said they closed at 11.. they were more than accommodating and told our group they would stay pouring drinks as long as we'd like! Fantastic local craft brewery. Every single one of the beers I tasted (and I tried 8!) were absolutely delicious with some really interesting flavor combinations as well as the classics. Add to that the staff is super kind and knowledgable, and the snacks we had were delicious. I'm only sorry I don't live nearby to make this my regular watering hole. 3.5-4 stars. Why? The atmosphere is a little on the austere and cold side. We didn't find the restaurant felt welcoming, that's no reflection on the service which was ok. I can see the look they were going for, but the industrial feel and uber-minimalist look just really didn't lend itself to us wanting to stick around. We got a couple of beer flights, and it was hit or miss. Some were thin and tasted unfinished, others were quite good. Had a cheese plate, I felt the portions were a little light for the price, though I do appreciate their efforts to use local products. We went a while back, maybe it's just growing pains as they were still newly opened at the time. We'll swing by again and have another try. read more

Where to start... the staff is all extremely beautiful and kind. They are warm and welcoming, and Ray has the softest eyes I've ever seen. Amanda2 is inviting and kind, as is Shannon.
