There's a huge fire pit outside surrounded by Adirondack chairs, picnic tables spread around the property, a large meadow with tables and chairs, a cozy indoor area by the bar, a tent with seating for rainy days and sun shelter, and a very friendly, upbeat energy. Kids are welcome. The local clientele is great and there's a real sense of community here. I love their playlists too. Honestly, this place is just so welcoming and chill. Slow Fox is a working farm and they have a beautiful flower garden and a CSA. Oh, and the Food Trucks!.... I love the whole experience. Not to be missed.

The beers were all light and flavorful, there will certainly be something for everyone in your group. Upon receiving our beer, we went to sit outside and listen to the live entertainment. The man singing and playing the guitar and keyboard had a fun personality and clearly wrote many of his songs. This ever-talented man, after one of his songs, thanked us for coming out and shared that he is the owner of the farm and brewery and that we were experiencing the fruits of 13 years of work by him and his wife. How incredible! Not only is this a beautiful story of a family living the dream, it also made me want to return and spend more time there. There are plenty of chairs and picnic tables to sit at while enjoying your beverages and the music, but we saw an older couple bring their own chairs, which we thought was a good idea. In addition to the by-owner music, they have a variety of board games available to play, along with several bags sets. It's also a dog-friendly spot. So that forces patrons to choose the "run a tab" option even if just dropping in for one beer. Problem 2: This policy feels needlessly suspicious and hostile, as if USB doesn't trust their (almost exclusively well-heeled) clientele to pay. And this isn't some busy NYC bar where people occasionally walk on tabs. And bowhere else I've been in Hudson does this. If Governor's or Padrona tried it, regulars would look at the server like an extraterrestrial. Management might want to take a chill pill and try trusting their patrons more; Hudson is still a small town. Take the order, do a good job, give us a bill when we're ready... They had a lot of interesting beers on tap. I tried their raspberry sour, which was super refreshing. My fiance got a style of beer he had never heard of, which if you know him, is not common. It was their Fountain Skibsol Smoky Ale, which is a low ABV Danish dark ale with an intense smoky flavor. It was great and we both loved the smokiness of the beer. We snagged a spot at one of their outdoor picnic tables and it was such an enjoyable evening. They had string lights outside and everyone we interacted with was so friendly. Definitely recommend West Kill for a great atmosphere and good brews!
