This is such a cute brewery with a very family friendly environment. Our waitress was awesome! A few in our group have dietary restrictions and she easily and happily looked up things for us. If you have a gluten allergy this is the place because all of their wings are GF and they have GF buns for their burgers. There beets were delicious I can't remember what I had but I believe it was an orange honey beer and they also have kombucha on the menu! The wings were flavorful and juicy. My one complaint is don't order the Korean Bbq. In no way is that Korean bbq. They toss it in a tomato base I'm like where is the gochujang? Where's the sesame oil? The gluten free soy sauce? Yeah it wasn't the flavor they called it but the wings over all were good so I still have them 5 stars! I recommend the Thai wings, they are fantastic! read more

Just as a reminder, I'm a regular here. There's reasons for that. I love a place that's consistent...food, beverage, staff...all top notch. My husband & I are usually here Thursday nights, always welcomed in the door by our names, they know exactly what we drink (but still ask just in case). The amount of regulars we see, and the amount of people in general who frequent here is a clear indicator of how they are doing things right. The wine-o in me cannot say enough about how good their dark beers are, the Orange De Pomme, f**king fantastic, snow on the ridge (I had this tonite) all the notes you want in a vanilla porter. I wanted a comfort food but nothing fried, so I got the beef stew tonight, perfect!!!! I will always come here, no matter how much wine I love, this is my beer spot, my neighborhood go-to, and you will not be disappointed if you're not from here. read more

Really love trivia night on Mondays at Rough Cut! I wish they had a sour beer on the menu but as a result I've only really tried their available ciders (all delish!). Aside from wonderful food (I had the bacon burger) and delicious hard cider, the staff was amazing. I felt Tyler (manager) went above and beyond while I waited for my dinner party. I was early and they were running late so I probably waited 30 minutes. He asked several times if I'd like some water and took time to answer my questions about their food and drink offerings. We had a great meal. We started with delicious draft beers. Mine was the one with guava and friend had the one with orange. The appetizers were good, Mac and cheese and shrimp. Both I think could have been larger for the price. The burger was the star. Perfectly cooked and I could have taken a bath in the special sauce. It was delicious. I got extra and dipped my fries in it.I also thought the desserts were too expensive, I think one cake slice should not be double digits. For one slice that is robbery. Pretty good food, pretty good service. I tried a smash burger - which was delicious and also a double patty, which I was not expecting. The local sour cider was dry and tasty and served in a lovely glass. Fries were good but I didn't get very many and it was clearly the end of a batch with all the small burnt pieces. The salad was good too but they ran out of their special dressing that was on 1/4 of the menu. Wings were good and the spicy dry rub was very good. I'd try it again. read more

Such a cute atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is lit with Edison style lights giving it a beautiful ambiance. They have ample Gluten free options on both the food and drink menu. They have ciders and wine (no GF beer unfortunately). We tried the GF Brussels sprouts, chicken strips and firecracker shrimp and we WILL be going back for me. The staff was so helpful and nice. It was a bit crowded from 5-7, but we still got a prime table. We sat outside with our pup and the staff even offered us a water bowl. There were many other dogs in the outdoor section, so very dog friendly. read more

Had another good meal and beer at the rough cut today. Service was fine there was no issues there we were taking care of and seated immediately and the food came out quickly. Most seats were taken outside so we sat inside. I had this sweet Thai Chili wings and burger with fries my girlfriend had a chicken sandwich. Excellent microbrewery. I stopped in recently for a few beers - worth going out of my way, but didn't try any of the food items. They take orders in an open end of the building, under a roof, but they have outdoor seating that's very comfortable and pleasant. Staff were masked consistently whether inside or out. read more

I have heard good things about this place and although I only live 5 minutes away, I never consider this when thinking about take out. Last night I decided to give them a try...I am so glad I did! When I called to order they were very nice and when I arrived for my food it wasn't ready yet so they offered me a buzzer to sit in my car so I wasn't standing around. With COVID still prominent in our area, this was an amazing gesture! The food was delicious. Seasoned great, has a really nice spice to it. Also, a huge portion, will probably last 3-4 meals. The van Steen Machine was a super rich and delicious porter and it paired really well with the Oklahoma Onion Smash Burger I had. Once I ordered the burger, I was worried I had set myself us to reek of onions for the night, but that wasn't true at all. When I bit in, the onions were crispy and mild, and the patties were amazingly juicy and flavorful. I only wish it stayed open longer on weekend nights, maybe I'm just used to city hours. read more

We stopped in for a drink and a snack after hiking, and everything was great. We got the buffalo wings, which were nice and meaty, along with the firecracker shrimp. Bumpkin Ale was good. I always appreciate a pumpkin beer that's nice and subtle. Set and Setting IPA is excellent. Pines & Needles is also very good, although I think all spruce-type beers are best in small quantities because the taste is so strong. Finally, service was excellent. Rough Cut also has the distinction of serving one of the two best burgers in a hundred mile radius (the double burger at Fiden's Brewery in Albany being the other one). Two of the three dishes I tried were pretty good. The Brussels Sprouts weren't burnt (as seems to be the trend these days) and tasted good. I would prefer less honey and more butter, but that's a personal preference. The Arugula salad was excellent. The fries were fine. However, the Bacon Chedder Smash Burger was horrible. The menu said "super juicy well done" which should have been a red flag. I only ate a few bites (for those who know me I always finish my meat), there was absolutely no juice, the patties were dry as a bone, the bacon was hammered, too. I had asked if they could cook mine medium rare, our server said the only cook was well-done. I was going to give them 2 stars, but that burger was really crap. We won't be back. read more

Best quality beer I've ever had - trying this place is a must! Comfort food menu is also not to be missed. You can't go wrong with the burger and every french fry is perfection. We took home some highly satisfying succotash and asiago cheese biscuits. Yum! Prices are incredibly fair, food is fresh and portions are huge! It's hard to find a package like that these days. Rustic, cozy environment and friendly, hard-working staff. Me and my wife have been coming to this place for years. We always enjoyed fun conversations at the bar when co-owner Jesse (friendly guy with dreads) was there. Now (during covid) we order food and sit at their picnic tables outside under the shade of an old tree. So grateful to have a place like this in the area. read more

Country kitchsy brewpub in the middle of nowhere, by all the hiking spots near New Paltz. You enter what seems to be a former house or lodge, completed with the scent of old wood. The giant bar and fireplace is appealing with all the tables behind it. Beers were worth the trip. Their brewmaster clearly knows what he's doing behind the big rolling door in the restaurant area. Every beer, even the oilburner was smooth tasting, despite its color and name. Most of them have a heavy german influence. Dinner was their biggest shortcoming. Their menu was diverse, with numerous vegetarian options and a dash of culinary creativity. Unfortunately, the lamb burger was dryer than the Sahara, despite my conversation with my waiter 20 mins prior who assured me that they "definitely" cook it medium because "who likes well done meat!?". We both chuckled and made fun of those who consider severely charred meat "desireable". Well, uh. So much for that? When eaten with the soft chibata bread and accompanying feta and figs it was fine, but definitely not as promised. The chicken tacos had a whole lot going on with them. Rice, beans, spicy pickled things. Another great expectation with poor execution. The chicken tasted overcooked as well. Eeep... at least the fries were crispy and warm! I had quietly expected that the kitsch of this spot and distance from SUNY New Paltz would keep the "yooo braahh" college dudes at bay but they seemed to find their way here despite that. Ah well, at least they have good taste in beer, broo! Come for the brews, and maybe the tofu sticks -- they looked good. read more
