On a Brewery tour of Poughkeepsie, and this one ranks as my favorite of them all. The atmosphere, the locale, and the beer make it better, in my opinion, than any of the others.

Very nice brewery. They have 6 beers on tap. We only had there IPA. The flavors were light. I'm not a big fan of it. People who work there are nice and friendly. I wish them luck.

I visited Blue Collar Brewery on Saturday afternoon. I was visiting the Poughkeepsie area for the day so I could cycle the Rail Trail. I thought it would be fun to stop and visit some area breweries on my return trip. Fifth stop of the day: Blue Collar Brewery. It's located in an old meat packing building in downtown Poughkeepsie. I ordered a taster flight of various mixed styles. Decent selections; I think their Cream Ale was my favorite. It was a refreshing brew after a long bicycle ride. Blue Collar is actually a brewpub that normally has sandwiches and other various hot dishes, but I was informed that their kitchen was closed indefinitely. I wasn't too sure why the kitchen was closed, but they did at least have some bags of chips/pretzels to munch on per COVID rules and regulations. After finishing my beer flight, I hopped back on the bike and was on my way. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I would visit again if I'm in the area again.

Went here for a beer and a snack on Saturday night with my boyfriend today and sat at the bar. There are tables if you want to come for a meal. Their beers doesn't have names, just type or a number which is different. My bf had the #8 IPA which was pretty good, not bad but not amazing. There were a few different types of beer which is nice to have variety. We got the fries with horseradish mayo (special request and extra $). They were right out the frier which was great. The food that the people at the tables were ordering looked really good too. The bartender was super nice and personable, you could tell he's a hard worker and a people person.

Came here after seeing it opened on November 9th, just to give it a try. Although it's in the middle of downtown Poughkeepsie, this place stands out, and is warm and inviting. The brick architecture, mixed with Edison bulbs and iron, give Blue Collar Brewing a trendy, Gastropub feel, without pretension. The beer selection is limited to four options at the moment, which may attractive or dissuading, depending on your craft beer pub expectations. There are also wines available, all from LOCAL vineyards. I tried the IPA (awesome), the Smoked Brown Porter (light and bold at the same time), and the Cream Ale (goes down smooth with a light balance of hops). As expected during an opening week, the service was good, but kitchen was a little slow. The food is pub fare, served in baskets, and is tasty. We tried the Steak Sandwich (like a cheese streak) and the Fish and Chips (one of the best - not greasy) and were very satisfied! The menu is broken into "shifts" - first, second third... - depending on how much food you'd like. This plays into their theme very well. As soon as they hire an executive chef, this place will surely be a great spot for any occasion. After walking down the hallway entrance, you'll pass by the Brew tanks on your left, and the open kitchen on your right. There's a 15 person bar against the back wall, as well as tables and an upstairs. All seats have great views of the 8 TVs, and there's plenty of standing room in the event all seats are taken. The bar also has growlers for filling. Before you go, check out their website. Blue Collar Brewing explains their business model, which hopes to incorporate the history of Poughkeepsie, and service anyone who just wants to sit down and have a good beer. They've taken the time to upgrade this building, beautifully, and have preserved the atmosphere of the working factory it used to be. Prior to going, I knew exactly what to expect in terms of their goals for the business. They hit the mark. If you want a chill place to watch a game, or meet friends, or grab a bite, or do happy hour, this is the place. I've been to Mill House and Shatzi's many times, and love them both. However, this place is unique and won't disappoint. I actually prefer fewer selections of beer, knowing that the Brewmasters have taken the time to pick out only the best flagship beers to serve. Don't hesitate, stop on through!!

Great new brewery I Poughkeepsie.

I have not been to Blue Collar in awhile. Big Mistake. I should be going more often. Service is great. Terrific selection of beer and really nice pub style menu. I had the UNFILTERED RYE IPA, 5.4% ABV, 50 IBU. I was thinking I may not like it because I am not a fan of Rye, BUT it was so good I had seconds. We ordered the quesadillas with steak. Excellent choice. Will be back.

This was a pretty place to check out on a Tuesday night. From the outside it just looks like another building in Poughkeepsie, inside it was a pleasant surprise. When you first walk in, on your left, you can see their brewing machine down below, straight back is their bar and seating area. They do have a kitchen if you would like to get something to eat while you enjoy a beer. I was not quite sure what I wanted so I asked for their 5 - 5oz flight and this included all their beers except one. Every beer I tried was good with the Smoked Brown Porter and IPA #8 being my favorites. I have never had a beer quite like the Smoked Porter and enjoyed it so much that I bought a growler. The gentleman behind the bar was very friend and explained to me that him and his father own the brewery, and he helps make the beer. Great place to stop by, can't wait to try their food.

Wings!

Came out to meet up with some Yelper friends. I had the Porter, which was nice. Hubs had one too and also a ESP, which he liked much better. Beer prices are reasonable. Food was another story. Don't care for the selection here. Very meat centric and fried foods. Table ordered wings since they are on special before 6 and they were good. Buffalo and Thai - both were HOT! Others ordered the ground beef tacos for $1.50. Reports were they were ok. Hubs and I shared pretzel bites that were pretty awful. Pretzel dough was tough, some undercooked and some started to get hard after a few minutes. Cheddar ale sauce seemed to have too much flour in it. Overall a nice spot for a quick beer or typical bar food, but not for quality food or for those who want lighter, healthier options. Service was good and friendly.

X-Mas at Blue Collar

Was able to make a reservation for 10 on a Saturday nite during the Holiday season (didn't hurt that it was the first snow storm). Very cool atmosphere with a wide-open seating area and a view of the bar displaying big-screen TV's for sports viewing. I had the Stout Brisket Sandwich with horseradish mayo on Rye -- very moist and tasty. Also had the blue collar wings with thai chili which were also very good. Highlight is the beer menu -- Reasonable prices and a great place to hang with friends in Poughkeepsie .

Crabby bartender! When we asked to taste a beer, his response was "we sell flights". Wow

Loved the pretzel nuggets to start and great choice of beers! Has so much potential...worth checking out before it gets too popular!

I sampled every beer and thought each one was great, even the cream ale that I wasn't too excited to try.

We tried all 8 beers they had on tap that day...they offer tastes of each beer for free, and then half pours are $5...all in all, super reasonable. The beers were all light and flavorful, there will certainly be something for everyone in your group. Upon receiving our beer, we went to sit outside and listen to the live entertainment. The man singing and playing the guitar and keyboard had a fun personality and clearly wrote many of his songs. This ever-talented man, after one of his songs, thanked us for coming out and shared that he is the owner of the farm and brewery and that we were experiencing the fruits of 13 years of work by him and his wife. How incredible! Not only is this a beautiful story of a family living the dream, it also made me want to return and spend more time there. There are plenty of chairs and picnic tables to sit at while enjoying your beverages and the music, but we saw an older couple bring their own chairs, which we thought was a good idea. In addition to the by-owner music, they have a variety of board games available to play, along with several bags sets. It's also a dog-friendly spot. If you're looking for a fun way to spend an evening, look no further! Can't wait to visit again.

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.
