The beer here is great, especially the Oktoberfest. The food, though, is incredible. I ordered the fried mushrooms and the brisket sandwich. The mushrooms are made with house-made beer batter, and they are phenomenal. I expected the typical tasty but obviously mass produced fried mushrooms. These were a world apart. Flaky, light beer batter breading and a very mildly spicy chipotle ranch dipping sauce made these stand out. The sandwich was also amazing. The brisket was tender and juicy, the sauce flavorful and perfectly proportioned, and the rye was toasted to perfection. I'd order it again in a heartbeat, but I probably won't, because I want to see what else this place has to offer. read more

Between BCB and Mill House, Poughkeepsie now has two great brew pubs. Their beers were tasty and the food was good and reasonably priced. It's definitely more affordable than Mill House. This place is very accommodating food was delicious especially the Nachos with pulled pork, our waitress was very pleasant this was our second time there and she remembered us, which my girl friend and I thought was very commendable. The IPA is pedestrian at best. The Crèam Ale is pretty good. The burgers are tasty. That's the good stuff. The bad stuff? You'll pay 2 to 3 dollars extra if you want something as mundane as cheese and mushrooms. Want hot sauce for your fries? They charge a dollar for some McCormick's hot pepper seasoning. This would be fine if it was clear on the menu. It's not. Also, the POS system they use doesn't add numbers correctly. Our food items came to $55. The POS printed out at $60. They seriously tried to say it was right. Dude. You can't change the rules of mathematics... After some back and forth, they took $3.00 off the bill. That was big of them but, it shouldn't have taken such a production. My unsolicited advice is to make pricing more clear on your menu. read more

THIS PLACE IS GREAT! As a senior at Marist, a group my friends and I decided to start eating at different places in the Hudson Valley. A professor recommended this place to a few of my peers, and we are so lucky we came. Walking into this environment was awesome! Warehouse looking on the outside, humungous steel barrels for brewing on the inside, and a very sporty, yet old fashioned vibe. The drinks were super affordable, $10 for a flight of beer, and $2 for Diet Pepsi (which is what I got because I'm on a diet). The choices on the menu were super diverse and tasty-looking (so it was hard making a decision). I committed to their Po-Town Cheesesteak, which was probably the best decision of my life - so I'm gonna end this review here and say come here, get beer or Diet Pepsi, and DEFINITELY get the cheesesteak. Even though I work a white collar desk job I was let into Blue Collar Brewery. It must be because my dad is part of the blue collar workforce. He doesn't think I have a real job because my hands don't have callouses. It's been a real divide in the family and I really don't want another shouting match at Thanksgiving. With that being said the atmosphere is great...food smelled delicious and there is a cool balcony overlooking where the beer is brewed. If I was Randy Orton I would totally RKO someone into some beer, but I'm not...I'm just "some desk jockey sitting on my rear end all day". Thanks Dad. Can't wait to get back here for dinner. What a great find here in the Hudson Valley! There is off street parking which is very nice and the actual building looks and feels like an old manufacturing location of some sort (which adds to the whole experience). Now on to what's important.......the beer that was selected was their IPA and was it delicious! Off of the menu I ended up having the 10 oz burger with blue cheese & caramelized onions with a side of steak fries that were cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend! read more

Like most people, I rarely take to yelp to say something nice. Is that because I am a jerk? Maybe. Nobody wants to write about a mediocre experience. So, what are we left with? The very good, and the very bad. Unfortunately, the very bad tends to out weight the very good, but not here! For the owners, because I believe all the staff are due credit, I was in on Sunday, 1/15/17. First off, this place is set in a gorgeous brownstone building, that looks brand new. Next, you walk in to a balcony view of the brewery...which you have to pay to see in some places. Then, you pass by the kitchen, which let's you know exactly the condition of the place your food is being prepared. The waitress was very pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Remembered all of her specials without reference, and took our order without a note pad. (Impressive things if you have ever worked a day in a restaurant). The beer was killer, I had the Rye. Then comes the Fire Wings. Now, I come from having gone to school in Buffalo, and so I am somewhat of a wing snob. Typically when a place has anything above "hot", I get it on the side to see what they consider...Death, Atomic, or in this case Fire. Unfortunately for me, my last several experiences had left me disappointed, and so I went right for the Fire sauce. It has been a long time since wings made me cry, and the chef told me that was only phase 1 of phase 3. The only thing I could possibly mark this place down on is the geographic location. Maybe this is my Westchester born, and raised speaking; but the neighborhood is a little rough. I won't though, but I felt it should be mentioned. read more

While waiting for the rest of my dinner party, I tried a few of their craft brews. Settled on the very tasty smoked brown porter (and later left with a growler full). For those in my group that wanted a "see-through" beer, they were happy with their choices. I advise ordering the wings appetizer - the rub alone is worth it - meaty wings that do not need sauce! I would have given the joint 5 stars for the beer alone, but then we had dinner! Their chili is amazing, and my fish & chips were far better than the usual 'pub grub too greasy' version found elsewhere. My husband is a BIG Fan - loves the Brews. For me there is a very small selection of wine with none on the semi to sweet side. Loved the wings, hot, juicy and very tasty. Service is Always fast and attention is paid to the customer. Food comes hot which is how we like it. Husband has had Onion Rings and burger which he raved about. Great place for Pub food and a brew! When you walk in your greeted by a tall cement room with a warehouse feel. As you keep walking there is all the brewery machines to your left, but it's down below and your basically walking over a lower level. On the right is a long cooking counter and your greeted by the smell of food. Keep going and all the tables and a long bar and lots of TVs along the back wall. The food was good though my burger was a bit dry. I did ask for it well done, but normally it still is moist. They don't have a kids menu, but happily turned their chili dog into a plan one. I always like to see when new businesses can repurpose an existing building, rather than tear down a building just to build another, but with lower quality materials and less character. Thus, I was intrigued by the interior of Blue Collar Brewery, and think they kept a good amount of the warehouse/factory charm of the building. However, upon entering, I found the layout to be a little strange, but likely necessitated by the desire to have the opening in the floor which allows patrons to view the brewery equipment in the basement below the dining area. You enter into a small empty area (as in, no furniture. I imagine that this area could serve as an "overflow area for people to hang around in with a pint in hand if the bar/dining area were full) with a balcony on the left that overlooks the brew equipment on the floor below and a prep station/open kitchen on your right. The bathrooms are right by the front door and the dining room is at the back of the building, so you do need to walk from one side of the building to the other to use them. There is no clear hostess/host stand, so we ended up asking the guys who were prepping food and they pointed us further down the road until we reached the dining room. I thought the open layout, brick walls, and high ceilings were nice and definitely kept true to the warehouse feeling. A group of televisions showing sporting events line the brick walls behind the bar. However, I did find the dining room to feel really dark and somewhat dreary. There are small windows toward the ceiling, but the interior could use some more substantial lighting -- it was especially noticable as we were there in the middle of the day. On a Saturday for lunch shortly after it opened, there were a few tables and about four patrons at the bar. We were served at the bar by the bartender. We split an order of blue collar wings (medium) for $9 and pub fries ($4). The fries are "served" with malt vinegar (a bottle of Heinz brand malt vinegar). They were average, but lacked the crisp I had hoped for -- they could have used an extra minute in the fryer. I also think they were frozen. The wings were not as crispy as I'd like, but they were meatier than most others I've had in the area (excepting maybe Union) and had good heat. They were served with bleu cheese (does not appear house made) and a few celery sticks. I asked if they had any carrots (as I enjoy both carrots and celery with my wings), but our bartender said they didn't have any in the kitchen. There were five beer options on tap. I found it a little bit odd that Blue Collar did not offer a flight of beer, being that it's something I usually try when I go to a new brewery. Our bartender did not explain the reason why they did not offer a flight, and I assumed it was maybe something they planned on offering down the road, as they had just recently opened. However, upon skimming the website, it is Blue Collar's philiosphy that "a proper tasting cannot be conducted with less than a full pint of beer." Not sure I agree with that, but they did allow me to sample a couple of the choices, so when I did settle on the Light Cream Ale, I knew it was something I'd want to drink a whole pint of. Blue Collar, like its namesake, is no frills, and I am fine with that. There was nothing about the food, beer, or service that was too memorable, but also nothing negative about my experience. It's a solid B+, satisfactory, a good watering hole for locals. Although I am not necessarily rushing go back to Blue Collar for wings or beer, it is nice to see some growth in Poughkeepsie, and I am sure I'll find myself at the bar again at some point. I'd be excited to see one or two more options on tap when I return! read more

We really liked it here. It was our first time visiting and we had heard great things. My husband got a flight and (not surprising for him) loved the IPA. I got the Riesling and it was great. We got the pretzel bites as an app, they were very good. I got the brisket sandwich and my husband got the cheese steak but we each split it with each other and both enjoyed the food. Since it is a brewery I felt inclined to write about the beer, but I won't, since I don't know anything about the beer besides the fact that I liked it. (I had the IPA #4 and #5.) The wings, however, I can write about. This was the second time I frequented BCB -- first time since early Summer -- and as I did the first time, I ordered the Tai chili and chipotle bbq wings (18 in total, 9 of each). I am admittedly no food critic, but these are the best wings I've ever had in my entire life. A simple man, all I ask for are wings which combine a crispy outer skin with enough meat to be close to full after consuming 12-15. As straightforward as that sounds, I've yet to eat a wing which can stake claim to both those criteria. I've been to the "best of the best" wing joints in NYC, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco, and Australia but until now, in my opinion, all have seen their hype exceed the actual product. Blue Collar Brewery, in little ole Poughkeepsie, NY, takes the cake. Job, well done. I will be back, often. read more

I originally gave Blue Collar Brewery a horrible review shortly after they opened. We did not have a good experience and BCB would probably agree. Soon after that they hired a new executive chef and simplified the menu. We stayed away for a little over 3 years. Recently we decided to try again and we were not disappointed! We have been back 3 times over the last month and everything we have tried on the menu has been excellent! Great food, great beer, great prices and a friendly staff! I hosted a birthday party at Blue Collar this past weekend and I was so impressed by the outstanding service, delicious food, and wonderful atmosphere! Kevin was kind and professional, he promptly answered all of my questions prior to the event and showed me around the private area that the guests would enjoy. He had everything ready to go when we arrived. Nicole was so friendly and took great care of us! She even helped me put my decorations away and pack everything up at the end of the night. Been meaning to write this review since my wife and I went here back in January. It was a last minute decision, as we were turned away from the brewery we normally go to in Poughkeepsie. Reviews seemed good and we had never heard of it. It was freezing inside. My wife had to keep her coat on. No acknowledgment from the waitress - hey, let me turn the heat up. Really interesting place - former meat processing warehouse. Really large space. It was maybe 2/3rds filled at peak time on a Saturday night. I ordered a burger, making it clear I would like it red to pink - just NOT grey. Beers were both flat. WTF? Burger came super-dry grey, not a touch of pink or juiciness. WTF? How could the chef/cooker get it so wrong, or was it the clueless waitress not noting the simple request (I had confirmed they were allowed to cook it red to pink inside). Waitress came by once to ask how everything was, looking at the 1/2 eaten burger I had placed on the plate pointing grey up. We skipped dessert. Check was inexpensive. You get what you pay for. Poughkeepsie's hidden gem. As a senior at Marist College I had no idea this place existed until last week. Went for happy hour Tuesday and was blown away. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The drinks were nice and cheap $5 a pint for Happy Hour. I got a whole flight for $10 because I couldn't pick just one! The pretzel nuggets with cheese dipping sauce are a must! The food is good portions, you will not leave stuffed and gross. I got the fish tacos while my BF had "the best he's ever tasted" Salmon BLT. We stayed for about 3 hours since it was a rain day and drank the day away. 10/10 would recommend for couples for large groups read more
