I really wanted to like this place because the beer is genuinely solid. The Italian Pilsner was great, and I've tried a few other beers from Blue Duck that were all on point. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The space inside feels cramped, with tables way too close together. During brunch, it was chaotic, to loud, obnoxious groups were yelling their orders across the room, blocking aisles, and generally being inconsiderate. It made for a pretty unpleasant dining experience. While people do bring kids and there's technically a kid menu, I wouldn't call this a family-friendly environment at all. The food was a major letdown. The tots were overcooked to the point of being hard, the fish sandwich was bland and mostly bread, and the pretzel was just mediocre; I've honestly had better from Costco. Good beer can only carry a place so far. Between the atmosphere and the disappointing food, I wouldn't rush back. read more

A brewery with a bit of a corporate feel. Clean, reliable, nice beer and nice people. My girlfriend and I visited on a Friday afternoon and sat at the bar for a few beers. I really enjoyed the West Coast IPA and I absolutely loved the Breakfast For Dinner (10% breakfast stout brewed with vanilla, strawberry and blueberry). Nectar of the gods that one. We noticed the bartender pouring several glass tubes with nothing but foam and delivering them to a table of dudes on a bachelor party. I vaguely recalled seeing something about this online, so I asked the bartender and learned it is called a "Mlíko," a drink that originated in Czechia and requires special equipment to pour. So bonus points here for uniqueness as I've never seen this at any of the many other breweries I've been to. My girlfriend also got a soft pretzel with dipping sauces from the in-house food partner: Phoenicia Diner Canteen, and outpost of the wildly popular Phoenicia Diner 30 minutes away. Conceptually a nice hang out spot with beer and food! However, it didn't feel as comfortable as it could be because it's too warm. The restaurant doesn't seem to put ac. For drinks, we tried the Monkey Joe Mild: Nitro, Blueberry Splash, and West Coast IPA. The blueberry splash was too sour. Ambience was pleasant, it was clean and spacious, although the latter may be due to the fact that it was not very busy on a weekday evening at 7:30/8. We sat inside but it was open to the patio; the weather was nice and we were off to a lovely start. We had attentive service from two staff (they did get the sizing on one of our beers wrong but it was not a big deal). The food was not good and way overpriced, however, and does a disservice to the establishment. I had a spicy turkey sandwich and was disappointed to see they used deli meat, unlike the turkey sandwich a customer took a photo of several months ago. Their cheeseburger comes with no tomato or lettuce so make sure to add on if you want those (minimal surcharge of 50 cents or so for each). Tomato melt was mid and uninspired. Fish and chips were decent. Fries were good. Dessert was not great, the chocolate chip cookie was big but crumbly not in a good way, and I'd take a hard pass on the vanilla ice cream, which tasted like it had freezer burn-- the flavor and waxy, slightly chewy texture was off-putting. Overall the beers were okay, service was good, and food ranged from decent to bad. I'd come back for drinks but eat elsewhere. read more

Just finished my 11th visit to the brewery which houses food from the Phonecia Diner Canteen. Every visit I have tried a different dish, the food drops into the Pub Food genre but is vastly superior to that common plates that you normally be used at afine Iriah Pub. I'm originally from Queens but have been up herefor 26 years. I have a lot of mates that still live down in the 212 and 718 and when they come to visiti I have them meet up here; it's close to the highway because the food wont disappoint, the staff are excellent and if you have been on the thruway for 3 hours the clean bathrooms are very welcoming. I highly endorse the fresh brews which you can get to go as well as the cooking. read more

We came here two weeks after it opened- heard about it through the Phoenicia Diner partnership. Even without that connection, Blue Duck is already hopping, and it should because the beers are very good, as is the ambience. I did a flight with raspberry ale, Pilsner, an IPA, and a lager. While they were all solid, the raspberry ale was definitely the tastiest and we bought a four pack to bring home. Our server was helpful in picking what to drink and everyone seemed appreciative of their patrons, which is no small thing in hospitality. Prices were similar to other breweries we've been to. As for the food, portions were huge and they give you some room to customize sandwiches or entrees to your taste. Be aware that the food will be on a separate tab from your drinks, and that if you want the pancakes, those are only available during the day. Overall we enjoyed it and would recommend if you like good local brews, as well as a taste of the Phoenicia Diner without quite as much of a crowd or drive. read more

This is a really good brewery and double thumbs up to the partnership with Phonecia diner. Lots of seating available, easy to order through a QR code, and great food and beer. Lots of big bright windows for a really nice atmosphere. Very festive interior, with super friendly staff. It can get a little confusing with service because you have employees from Blue Duck and separate employees from Phonecia diner, but they seem to work together pretty well. I would highly recommend this restaurant/brewery. read more

I can only comment on the apps bcuz I didnt drink beer. The arancini was to die for. There's some sort of cream sauce at the bottom of the plate & it was super tasty. Also, their tater tots were also very good. Covered in onions, ham and a creme, not your average, that's for sure. Wings&onion rings made their rounds at our table also, but these 2 things stood out for me. My husband had beer but cant tell you which one. Hopefully we can return before spring & grab sandwiches & beer. Excellent vibes! Happy I got to check out this local spot while visiting in town. Although it was crowded, it wasn't too long of a wait during prime time dinner time. The inside was light and airy. The waitstaff were so warm, inviting and helpful - you can tell they were happy to be there! My husband got a flight and I ordered the Raspberry splash beer (with raspberry puree? and then cider. Cider was just ok - a high VA. The beer was so good we bought some cans. Collab with Phoenicia diner is a pretty smart business plan - the food service was a little slow but it was ok with delicious beer in hand. My husband enjoyed his turkey sandwich - it was pretty big, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich on milk bread- it was great but I had to take most of it to go. We also ordered an apple cobbler which tasted more like a crisp I can make but it was tasty. I recommend this place for sure! read more

I was waiting for the Blue Duck to open for so long! It looks adorable on the outside and has a very nice interior. You could tell they put a lot of time and money into making it a comfortable place to sit. The cocktails themselves were also very good! Well made and tasted fantastic. Where it starts to take a turn is the food. For supposedly being from the same folks as the famous Phoenicia Diner, it was such a let down. Portions were small and the food was not done well. The fish sandwich while fried well, was not fresh fish. It had that "fishy" taste from fish that's well past its prime. The fries got cold and hard very fast, as did the bread on the charcuterie board. There was a big lack of meats and cheeses on it, opting for cut radishes and pickled onions instead, both weird choices that don't lend to bread and butter well. They also forced QR code ordering for only the food, which I am not a fan of, especially when the table service for the drinks was so good. It was noticeably lacking. The menu was also quite small and they tease the brunch offerings on the cocktail and food menus despite not being able to order them outside Sat/Sun brunch. This was disappointing as the mimosa cocktails and the famous pancakes were among the most appealing things on the menu! read more

I got an invite to the soft opening and it was great. The space is new and designed as you would expect a modern brew pub would be. I tried the lager as there were only a few beers available and I really enjoyed it. My wife and I tried the fish and chips, fried chicken sandwich and the cabbage salad. All was good but the cabbage salad was a standout, I'd highly recommend it if you visit. The food is done by the Phoenicia diner so this place will probably be a scene once the word is out. Our first visit to Blue Duck was fabulous...My husband loved the beers he tried including the New York Pilsener and the American Lager. I'm not a beer drinker, but I enjoyed an amazing "cranberry do-over", a rye old-fashioned. The cocktail choices all sounded tempting, and I want to go again and try a few of the awesome mocktails. Food from Phoenicia Canteen was perfect too! (Best fries ever...and I'm a tough fry critic) Try "The Rudd" sandwich for a delicious combo of unexpectedly compatible ingredients. Tater tots were so salty we couldn't eat them. We ordered two Simple sandwiches. Not impressed. Very disappointed. We go to the Phoenicia diner out on Rt 28 and are never disappointed. Bland, uninspired sports bar. A place that opens with a wall of branded merch just has a kind of corporate feel. I don't know why it is so crowded. Beer was mediocre, the stout had less character than a Guinness from the supermarket. Food was definitely not as good as the original Phoenicia Diner, reuben sandwich was dry toast, not grilled the way it's supposed to be. For a more authentic brew pub experience I'd stick with Kingston Standard, Keegan's, or the West Kill outpost on Broadway. read more
