My sister-in-law (SIL) invited me to attend the Earth, Wind and Fire concert at the Blaisdell arena. She was meeting up with her girlfriend and five others for drinks and pupus at The Social, on the second floor of the Ward Village Northeast parking garage. She found a parking space on the second floor (how lucky is that?) and we went to Nordstrom Rack and TJ MAXX as we were early. This was my first visit to The Social. You enter via a single door and walk left down a hall past two sliding entry doors (on your left) that aren't used (strange), and find yourself in a long, relatively narrow space with three rows of tables ending at the kitchen. There must be more to the place than I saw because I didn't see the bar nor a large room that I saw in pics on Yelp. My SIL and I ordered Monkey 47 gin & tonics ($10ea) while her friends ordered a house red ($8), a JPOP Chu-Hi ($8) and food. We ended up with Garlic Chicken ($21.95, more like popcorn chicken), Truffle Parmesan Fries (16.95), and Shrimp Spring Rolls ($18.95). The latter looked like crispy cones and was served with a sweet, chili sauce. The (relatively small order of) Fries came with small containers of Ketchup and Aioli; the Chicken came in a bowl. The others at our table ordered tofu salad and sliced steak, which they shared with us. The food was tasty and well presented. My sole quibble was with the fries ... It was way too small an order for the price charged. I liked the place but the hard surfaces (floor, walls, and ceiling) made it pretty noisy. The highlight for me ... $10 for a Monkey 47 gin & tonic ... A steal!

I went here twice and no matter which dish I tried so far it didn't disappoint. Honestly the food taste better and more savory than it looks. The fries and pasta were particularly good and flavorful that we ordered seconds. It was addicting. We ordered (on different occasions) garlic bacon fried rice, kalbi, steak, garlic fried, truffle fries, truffle bacon penne pasta, dynamite chicken, fish and chips. The food can seem salty to some people. Service was okay. Clean restaurant. Overall, I would definitely try other things on the menu.

We decided to give them another try after going years ago at their old location since we were shopping in the area. It seemed to be a slow day for them but two other tables came in shortly after us. The girl who sat and served us was very nice & checked on us often. We got our drinks in a timely manner but the food took about 45 minutes to get to us after ordering. The table who ordered before us got their plates one by one at separate times so I knew kitchen staff was low that day. When our food came out it was presented nicely, but the burger patties seemed unseasoned. I believe they're previously frozen which ok since they don't specify it's made in house but it just lacked seasoning unfortunately. It's not too loud In there, lots of TV's to watch sports & I saw the girl happily change it for an other table who wanted to watch something in particular. They were also out of a couple things which the server made us aware of, later I overheard more things were out after another couple tried to order. The service was great but the food was ok.

The Social is located in the South Shore Market in Ward. It's in the same shopping mall with TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack. It's such a convenient place because you don't have to worry about parking. In addition to that, the place is pretty clean and spacious. It's a good place for a small gathering. I will have to say that it's kind of in the pricer side; but the portion and the amount of food is pretty good. With this economy and located in the Ward area, it's understandable. Truffle Bacon Penne Pasta 4.5/5: Surprisingly, the overall dish was not salty. It's actually pretty good for such price. The pasta is cook enough that's not overcooked or under cooked. It already comes with bacon, but I added grilled chicken for extra protein. The chicken is not salty, and it's tender and flavorful. Garlic shrimp 4.5/5: It's a food truck style garlic shrimp with rice. I will definitely get it again because it's sooo good! However, I do have to say that the shrimp was actually pretty salty. Buttt, it's sooo flavorful. You can tell they are not petty in garlic and butter because they put a lot of garlic and butter that each piece of the shrimp is coated evenly that absorbs the garlicky flavor. The shrimp is fresh and not overcooked. If you like rice, the rice will taste like heaven. The rice soaked all the garlic butter sauce, and mix it/eat with the garlic and the shrimp, it's just the right tastes.

Hanging out in the south shore market place is fun, until you realize a lot of places close early and fast food options become smaller. I have never tried the Social and was in luck when we found out it was open and they could seat us. There was an insurance group there so the place was pretty busy. We had a group of 5 with a baby. The place was quite loud so looking back it probably wasn't the best place to catch up in. Menus are QR code only so if you want a physical one, you might have to ask for it. But we were not provided one . We ordered a few dishes and they came out rather quickly. My favorite was the brusselsprouts and least favorite was the truffle fries - only because they were great The second they came out, and after that they tasted stale. We ended up getting a salad, some fried rice, Kalbi, a burger and pasta. I think everyone enjoyed their dish, but to me it was bar food. It looked like they had a lot of drink specials going on and we just missed happy hour food specials. There were a lot of TVs playing different things. Service was good. The staff was very attentive and we were able to hang outside and chat in a more peaceful setting. Parking was packed on a Thursday. But they have a dedicated parking structure right off the entrance which is convenient.

Great service, ambiance, and food! We stopped by for a quick late dinner and they were amazing! It has a college dive bar vibe but also could be family friendly! My daughter enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs off the Keiki menu and thank you chef for accommodating her request to have the sauce separate lol We loved the uni mentaiko pasta and brussel sprouts! Bring a jacket though bc the AC was blasting.

I'm very surprised the amount of pictures I don't have from this place by how often I go here. One of my regular spots. Pre-game, hangout, "chill" night out. Definitely "let's get one drink" place that never actually ends up being that. Waitresses and bartenders are so nice and helpful. They come around very often and check on you a lot. It does get crowded on certain nights, but they do a great job on making their rounds. If you sit at the bar and are willing to drink, the bartenders will feed you. Don't get me started on the food. Not your average bar food. Excellent dishes for sharing or personal. But it's a great shareable/family style. Great time for dinner. Their happy hour is also great! They also have great cocktails. Their matcha old fashion is a great sipper. But just came across a new drink called "BOB". So good. If you like tequila and want a good shot, order a PWK. It's a tequila orange shot with lemon and li hing as the back instead. Very nice and easy to go down. One of my fave places. Come and enjoy and have a great time. Food Recommendations: -Parmesan Truffle Brussel Sprouts -Dynamite Chicken -Honey Walnut Shrimp -Hamachi Crudo (prefer jalapeño, but going scallion good too) -Parmesan Fries -Chef's Ribeye (Social Ribeye also good) -Uni Pasta (A MUST TRY) -Oyster Shooters

We came here after an event and it was a great hangout spot. They are opened late, so you can talk story all night with friends. The food was good and there was a big variety. Service was good and pretty fast.

Located at Ward- above TJ Max & same floor as Nordstrom Rack. You can enter through the parking structure. They're on the second floor take the escalators up. Casual restaurant and bar . Amazing food. We came during happy hour (unexpectedly). Great surprise! From the happy hour menu, we got the truffle & Parmesan fries, the Pulehu Ribs it came with rice and these amazing pickled onions. We also got oyster shooters. It came with six of them in separate white soup spoons. This is our first time here indefinitely not the last. Service was great, friendly and upbeat!! Thank you Kristina!!

The Oyster shooters, Hamachi and Brussel sprouts are great. Say hi from Art and Barbara to Keno, the bartender if he's there, he makes great mai tais. By the way, it's located on the second floor. Take the elevator or escalator between TJ Maxx, and the parking structure.

Such a great place for a social gathering hence the name of the establishment. The atmosphere is casual and fun. A bar in the back with tons of seating if you want to dine in. You can also play darts. Drinks are great, servers and bartenders are kind and serve you in order (they don't skip you to go to serve their friends first like in other bars). Let's talk food -- I highly recommend the uni pasta!! It's creamy and savory at the same time. My description of this dish doesn't do it justice so you'll have to just go and try it. The loco moco is alright. I swear, I think mine tasted like dish soap but my friends loco moco tasted fine. At least we know they clean their dishes well hahaha. The penne was also a really good dish. Honestly all their food is pretty good.

Always a chill, but fun night at the social! I love the atmosphere & happy hour. The food is okay, we thought the Brussels sprouts were a little salty for our taste, but overall enjoyed the meal! Our waitress was so sweet & we had a great night. Also that mai tai is huge haha.

Came here on a weekday to get some drinks and food. There's 2 dart boards and plenty of seats and parking. My friend and I ordered dinner. I got garlic shrimp and my friend got the fajita tacos. I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp. Lots of garlic with some chili oil. I'd definitely get it again. Social is clean and has lots of food options. The price for food is slightly pricey but definitely delicious for bar food. Service was friendly and prompt as well. They will card you so make sure you have your ID. There is happy hour 4-6pm on weekdays as well!

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

Apparently you're normally supposed to put a coin in to open the secret door, but it's broken right now, so the whole vending machine just swings right open. Slightly less secret, but still very cool. Inside is where this place really shines. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

What we thought was a pawn shop turned out to be... a speakeasy?!…read more What a lovely surprise. A gem of a find! I will never forget this experience. I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

This spot is the place to be in Waikiki! Definitely make a reservation because this place fills up…read morefast, especially later into the night. What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
