Had lunch here today. I ordered the Roasthouse burger and it was delicious! Cooked exactly how I asked for it. The pretzel bun was able to get wet from the sauces and stay enact until the last bite. The only negative I have to say is, my hands got so sticky from the maple bacon jam that my husband had to open the bathroom door so I could wash my hands. He got the French dip and said it was the best he's ever had. Our server was extremely friendly. Nothing bad to say about this place. read more

NOTICE ALMOST ALL OF THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE PEOPLE WITH ONLY 1-2 REVIEWS? That seems questionable, but we went anyway. I'm not saying management is inflating their reviews, with fake accounts, but the disparity in experiences is striking. I ordered the prime rib which is only served on the weekends. It was overcooked. I asked for rare it was more like medium. My friend ordered the wild boar and mash. It under performed. Anyway buyer beware on this place. It looked like it had potential. I liked the inside and the beer selections. Food is a disaster. read more

We heard the food was very good here, so we went for dinner. We never did eat the food because the service was so horrible! First issue, the table next to us (who ordered immediately before us) received their meal and we were expecting to receive ours shortly thereafter, but we didn't. Then, the meal came out for a couple who arrived after we ordered. Still, we waited and waited and no meal. When the meal finally came out, it was COLD! Second issue, our drinks. We had to remind the waiter of drinks several times. And, the third issue, the restaurant smells like cigarette smoke. People are allowed to smoke right outside the door, so, when the door is opened, the restaurant fills with the smell of smoke...very unappetizing! read more

The staff is fantastic and the food is amazing. They have a wide beer selection and are willing to take the time to talk about their product. Great service and great job all around. read more

I come here for the amazing beer selection, not the food. The selection surpasses any bar in town, something only a craft beer lover can appreciate. read more

I have been here twice now. Pretty similar experiences. First off, what a great beer selection! 20 beers on tap at decent prices. Food: the food is pretty good. I would give it 3 stars. Menu is limited. The best 2 things on the menu are the potpie and the shepherds pie. Both are pretty good portions. Apps are way to small!!!! don't bother with them. For only being open for 4 months, I would say go and try them out! its a nice change from the usual Frederick cuisine w/o breaking the bank. Cheers, read more

Had the Beef and Potato Stew - hearty, almost to a fault. A meal unto itself, very tasty. Next up were the Cheesy Poofs, puff pastry stuffed with cheese and sausage. Very yummy and I will want to make that one at home. My wife and I split a Prime Rib French Dip, and it was just okay. The beef was hand carved, but therein lies the problem: if you dipped it in the au jus, your large chunks of prime rib fell into the sauce. Good flavors, just poor prep. It should be done on a deli slicer as needed - much easier to eat a french dip when it's sliced thinly. EXCELLENT BEER and my wife loved her cider. We'll be back!!! read more

Great beer selection, not so great dinner selections. It would have been nice if you could get the lunch menu for dinner and just pay a few more bucks. read more

I love going to the roasthouse. They have great wings (I'm sure other food too but I can't get past the wings), a great beer selection and friendly employees. I probably won't go anywhere else when I'm looking for great draught beers read more

Second shot at this place, and it's apparently under new ownership. Menu was different than when we were in here last winter, but it doesn't seemed to have changed. Went to go order duck bacon wontons, and asked if there was dairy in them, even though it wasn't listed as an ingredient; and it contained dairy. So now we knew that we had to ask if dairy was in any other item that we wanted to order, since obviously, they don't tell you everything. I ordered the jerk chicken tacos with chipotle red cabbage slaw. The tacos were good, and the red cabbage slaw was all carrots, red onion, and a few pathetic slices of not quite pickles but not cucumbers either. I was informed that they were out of the chipotle red cabbage slaw and instead they had something called viennese slaw, which was "nice with the crunch from the celery." as I was informed by our server/bartender. "Nope, no celery." "Oh, well it's in there".......no, it really was not. Food wasn't awful, it's just nice to order something and get something, instead of having them switch it out on you, with no warning. Everything else they were out of had a black marker line right through it....... Stadium pours on the beer, so no head whatsoever. Luckily it was an event week, so it wasn't too expensive, but I highly doubt we'll be going back again. And parking sucks, big time. If someone is a truck decides to stop behind the building and go up the back stairs, you're kind of stuck. read more

The jerk tacos are excellent . Nice selection of craft beers . Very friendly atmosphere. Some may say it's pricey , but if it's good , which it is , I'm fine with it . read more

This was the best meal I've ever had in Frederick, and honestly just in general, one of the best. The management and staff were soooo friendly even though the place was really busy. I had a side sald and the duck bacon wontons and oh my god, they gave me emotions. The cider was excellent and my partners food was great too. I'm in love with this place! read more

Seated right away party of four. Menu looked good we ordered an appetizer crab dip with goat cheese was served hot with hot fresh bread. Sitting there getting excited about what's to come. Took a long time but finally two of the four entrées come out after their half done other two come out. Mashed potatoes were a hard clump because they were cold. Veggies ice cold. Not one to send food back but had to meal was very cold. Same complaints from the two that were served first. Not sure I would go back! Not sure if it was the kitchen or the waiter. Something was off. read more

I've been here a couple of times now. Their beers, service and most foods are fantastic. I had their ribs with a double IPA the first time. Loved it. My wife had a turkey dish. The turkey was dry. Second time there I ordered a salad with chicken. The salad was good and the chicken was horrible and dry. So they make great food minus poultry! They've got to season and grill it better! I'll be a regular but will stay away from the chicken. The beer cost is normal. The food is a bit pricy. read more

Great beer selection, and great happy hour drink and appetizer specials! The menu is very limited. The sausage cheesy poof was very good. Beware the hot wings--hot means HOTT!! The service was slow, and our server was more interested in chatting with the other staff than keeping our beers coming. Especially inconvenient when you just ate one of those hot wings, your mouth is on fire, your beer is gone, and you have already finished your fiancé's beer as well. Did I mention that the hot wings are HOT? I love the feel of this bar, it's very cozy and inviting. Parking is very tight, and you have to go out on the busy road before you can circle the tiny lot again. We had someone take our spot as soon as we pulled out of it. read more

Great beer selection and a menu better than you'll find at a typical bar. I always get the roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon. Tri tip with sweet potatoes was killer. Toughest part about this place is finding someone to drive you home. read more

Okee doke. Went back. Much better. Menu is still not a reason to go, but beer selection was interesting and excellent. Folk know their stuff. Be sure and bring a designated driver read more

Interesting and good food. Great beers on tap. Worth a visit. Very busy place. Might want to get a reservation.

Can not believe we have lived in the area for over 7 years and only discovered this place yesterday! Service was amazing and the food was awesome! My husband had the prime rib dinner which was one of the best he has had at any restaurant in the area. I had the prime rib french dip sandwich Bahn Mi - def. would order it again. I chose the brussel sprouts for my side and they were great. My son opted for the Glazed Ham Brisket (at the suggestion of our well versed, outgoing and friendly server - Marcus). Wow - this sandwich was a win! We got there just before the dinner rush and were seated right away. Within 30 minutes of our arrival the line was out the door. We had two desserts - cheesecake and the chocolate bread pudding, which is quite large and should be shared :) Bread pudding was another great choice! This is a pub, but is family friendly. Quite small inside, so seating is limited. Plan to arrive early or wait in line. Prices were reasonable. Only negative which almost prevented us from going in...when we arrived a woman was standing outside juuling. She stood directly in front of the door. We had to dodge puffs of smoke to get through the door. Def. not appealing and really unfair as it gave the restaurant a negative first impression. Common courtesy would be to move away from the public entrance. read more

Great Bar! Only problem is the Food. Small menu and with Expensive food and bad Burgers. Never had a Burger I didn't like until here. But the Beer is great! Tons of different types of Beers all draft. Also the staff is very helpful and easy to talk to. read more

A real let down overall. Have been here several times since they opened but not for a while. The menu has been stripped downand is not even close to what it once was and with limited options is not worth the trip any longer. Is unfortunate as the beer selection is outstanding, so if you are looking for a few good brews highly recommend but eat before you go limited menu with limited taste. read more

I was there few months ago and had the Prime Rib French dip sandwich and had a craving for it again so went back there just recently. Of course they were out of the French Dip sandwich so I tried something else. I got an order of OLD BAY wings, and was looking at the list of beers to try. Of course the one beer I wanted to try they were out of and did not remove it from the board. After waiting almost 30 minutes for one order of wings, they finally came to me. The wings were burnt, black on the ends and if I was not so hungry I would have sent them back. But I did not feel like waiting another 30 minutes for something else. Maybe I will try it again after alittle bit, and when they have the sandwich I want. read more

Food was awful. Almost raw pork belly tacos with slaw that was obviously spoiled. Wings pink inside. Bad records playing on a ten dollar toy player! Yuk. read more

Staying overnight in Frederick en route to Virginia Beach and couldn't have been happier to stumble on this little gem. Food was outstanding, service exemplary and the beer list had my craft brew-loving husband in 7th heaven. If you're in the area, don't miss the chance. Get there early...the dining room is small and filled up quickly. read more

This place was mediocre. Husband got prime rib which was lukewarm at best. I got wild boar sausage and mash but the sauce was inedible. So bitter even when I salted the hell out of it. I can eat pretty much anything and I had to force it down because I was ravenous before we got there. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious full rack of BBQ ribs along with fantastic/unique coleslaw, buttery rustic potato slices and an endless glass of unsweetened tea. The ribs were cooked to perfection and easily fell off the bones. The coleslaw was red cabbage with a purplish dressing. I had never had this type of coleslaw preparation before, but it immediately became my favorite. I'm not a beer drinker but they looked to have an impressive selection for any beer connoisseur. Overall, a great place for lunch and/or dinner, especially for sports viewers. read more

20 great beers on draft! Prices can seem high but they are not to bad if you consider there is no where else locally to get most of these beers on tap. Food is hit or miss, I enjoy the mac and cheese and brussel sprouts as the sides. The sandwiches are priced very reasonably. If you want to try a beer ask for a sample, they are a shot glass full and only cost a $1 which is sometimes cheaper per oz than buying the full glass. The beer size complaints are unwarranted in my opinion. When you order a 12% barley wine a 6oz snifter is justified. The reason that many of their beers are served in smaller glasses is because they are usually high gravity brews. Parking is awful, plan on walking a bit. read more

Had I written this review 2 years ago, The Roasthouse Pub would have easily landed 5 stars... but not anymore. I am not a craft beer connoisseur, but I always found something on their extensive beer menu that suited my pallet and the staff was happy to recommend a beer that fit my taste. Sure, the parking sucks but I am willing to look past that too. What brought my husband and I back to Roasthouse over and over was the menu. They had (key word being "had") outstanding sandwiches, very unique flavor combinations that paired well with their beers as well as one of the best vegetarian menus in the area. I lived and breathed by the garbanzo bean vegetarian burger and their daily specials rarely disappointed. Over a period of time we started to see some of our favorites dropping off the menu, and finally when I inquired about what was going on the server informed us that their chef had left for another job. I don't know who they have in the kitchen now, but they seem to be more of a line cook than a trained chef and the crappy menu reflects this. I really hope that they find a new chef who can recreate the innovative and interesting menu that kept us coming back to Roasthouse, because as it now stands our visit there last week will probably be our final one. It just isn't worth the aggravation of dealing with that busy road and sucky parking situation anymore for sub-par food and overpriced beers. read more

Great beer joint, with decent food. If you want great beer go here. If you want great food go to a restaurant although for a beer joint the food is good. Staff is great, always have good service. Parking is a challenge though. Wish they had more lighter beers (pilsners) though, can take only so many IPA's!! You can order a taster of any tap beer for $0.75 which is a great idea. Bar selection is limited but with some interesting options. HVAC system needs some work though, I should know I work in that field..... Overall, a great beer joint with decent food, we go often, even with the menu changes. read more

Went Fri about 1:30. Friendly staff. The burger of the day was ordered well done and arrived as a small thick burger that was dry. Had SOME BBQ on it and a thin slice of tomato a few small leaves of some sort of greens. Also had Brussels sprout w bacon. Presentation was poor. Nice plate but the burger came closed with a tooth pick but not much plate coverage. Bear choices were good. Not inclined to return. read more

Easily found an empty table. Big beer selection. Unfortunately I never got one! We sat there for 5 minutes at least, the server walked past us several times. No hello. No "be with you in a minute". We walked out and went next door May's. Go NEXT DOOR! read more

Thoroughly enjoyed a visit here last night with my gal and two beer buddies. Very pleasantly surprised with the standard of food-- not your typical run-of-the-mill pub grub, but rather a nice, diverse selection of dishes more akin to a place classified as a bistro. Of the four main dishes we ordered, m'lady's was the weakest. She went for the vegetable mac and cheese, adding chicken. I liked the upscale mac and cheese part, though she found it too watery, but the chicken was in large chunks and had a sort of cinnamony taste. My pals went for the salmon and the pork entrees, each of which was quite good. I opted for the French Dip sammich, and thought it was excellent, in particular the meat. The variety of sides we had were generally very good, though the roasted redskin mock-fries (they do not fry here!) were a little undercooked. For dessert the four of us split the best darned bread pudding I've had in many a year. I ate too much of it! The terrific beer options merit high grades, and our waitress was super friendly and fun. We were the last group in the place, which oddly enough closes at 10 even on Saturdays. Finally, it was nice to be in a place that was a bargain for the quality. If only we could move this place down Baltimore way! read more

Good food and beer! I've been twice and I enjoyed it both times. Very friendly staff, good recommendations, and good variety of brews.

A friend of mine recently suggested we meet in Frederick and check out this new place that opened. It was very easy to find as it was right on the side of one of the main drags in town. The beer selection was incredible and changes so often they rely on a numbering system to order by. I was very pleased by the wings we ordered as well, they weren't fried but rather roasted. We saw a few of the sandwiches go out while we were there and they looked delicious as well, I will be heading up there for lunch soon to try them out. read more

Went here for lunch today. First of all, when you walk in, the first thing that comes to mind is that this place is a dive. It is a very plain bar, it has no atmosphere. Also, it was a cold day and the restaurant felt cold. I have meant to try this place for some time since it has had such good reviews and I was excited that they roast their own meat. I thought that would mean that the meat would be more natural tasting - I was wrong. I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip Sandwich for $9.00. The meat was dry and was very salty and spicy and would have been even more so if I had used the au jus that came with it. It was not like any prime rib I have had before. My husband had the hamburger special. He said it was nothing to write home about. He ate the other half of my sandwich and agreed that it was too spicy (and he likes spicy). The sandwiches came with roasted red potatoes that reminded me of hash browns that diners have for breakfast, but again, they were too spicy - too much salt and coarse pepper for my taste. They had a chicken pot pie on the menu that would have cost $15.00. I thought that all of the prices seemed really high for what this place is. The good: the beer was good and they had interesting choices. You can get 2 ounce samples for 75 cents. read more

The positive: good roasted red pepper queso and plenty of craft beer selection The negative: everytime I've been there the parking was a nightmare and the service was slow, also a little on the pricy side read more
