Coming in the first time, it's a little confusing, but you order at the main stand in the middle and then head off to the side to pay and wait for your order! Open seating/first come/first serve! The food, I had gotten their steak sandwich, hesitant not sure if the meat would be tender or the portion would've been worth while, however, it exceeded my expectations! An interesting set up! You order from the counter by the door, then take the meal slip they write up to the bar, then pay and order any drinks. The sandwiches are not 'giant' like they're referred to but that's okay because u find the price to appropriately reflect what you get! The potatoes are yummy, it's essentially a trice baked potato stuck in a side dish cup. I got the Lombardo expecting it to be more warm and exciting but was very underwhelmed. It definitely took us a little longer than the regulars to decide what to try, but that's only because everything looked so good. I tried the Alcatraz sandwich--while the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, I wish I had asked for a different type of bread. I'm not the biggest fan of white bread, and it started to fall apart a bit while I was eating it. My husband had the roast beef sandwich and a potato, and he really enjoyed both. Overall, the food was fresh, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. We're looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu. My wife and I visited for the first time and found the food to be just ok. I ordered the suggested turkey sandwich while my wife had the grilled cheese. The giant subs are named after locations in the San Francisco/Bay Area. I ordered the Trans-Am (named after the famous Transamerica Building. It's Friscos' take on a club sandwich, and it was incredible. I ordered half of a sandwich and it was more than filling. The staff is friendly and attentive and will answer any questions. There is not a lot of seating inside the restaurant, but plenty is outside. Don't worry, the outdoor seating is covered, so you don't have to worry about melting in the sun. Bag of chips is over $2. The drink selection is wide, lots of beer and some lemonades in different combinations. I got a pawpaw lemonade I was very excited for and you couldn't taste the flavor. Pawpaw isn't an aggressive taste but disappointing in a specialty drink. People were friendly. The space is tall, all the warehouse features still in evidence, but it's not huge. Nothing not to love here at all. Incredibly imaginative and diverse menu of enormous sandwiches, salads and innovative variations on baked potato toppings. What they do, they do with supreme excellence. Pricing is most fair considering the generosity of the serving sizes; definitely a place to share a plate and not to feel bad about it. The "West of Santa Fe" salad hits the sweet spot of what they are best at; Tex-Mex and California cuisine with an upscale feel. Good selection of craft beers too for happy hour or maybe an early dinner before a Frederick Keys game, as we have done many times in the past. Don't let the business park location and industrial feel fool you. Very obviously the restaurant is run by foodies. One note: sub-optimal place for a business lunch or for (say) senior citizens despite the great accessibility: its austere and thus, loud inside. This place has really good sandwiches! I have come here a few times but to be honest the menu could use some updating. Sometimes less is more that way the focus can be on making things great and not hustle good. The mac & cheese needs seasoning it's nice to have all the cheese but seasoning is a must. I loves all the craft beer options and that there is a store attached. The young lady that took my order didn't seem like she wanted to be there but took our order. She failed to inform me where i would get the other kids meal goods(cookie, drink) and the cashier didn't informed me either. To be honest, I didn't have a horrible experience if it was OK it just needs some seasoning when it comes to the macaroni and cheese. Everyone was accommodating and offered anything we needed to have a good time! The employees were all in a good mood. Ambiance was chill with good vibes all around. Fatboy (Italian) with house hickory smoked pit ham, salami, provolone & cheddar Cheese, soppressata, all on a sub roll. Solid value and the meats were great. I would dump the cheddar and just be provolone since this is billed as an Italian sub. The sub roll was a little mushy and didn't taste like Italian bread. Service was a mess. If you like the standards and would like an excellent tweak to said standards, I can highly urge choosing these from the menu: BAJA-(chicken salad with Ethiopian seasonings, sliced tomato and sprouts, on sourdough. I always add their "Wicked Wolf Sauce" for added kick & spice. The SAN BRUNO is another great chicken salad choice). GLEN PARK (Two versions of an "Italian" sub are offered here, but this one knocks it out of the park! Finally made it over to Aka Friscos after being in Frederick for a year. What a great hidden gem near Ballenger Creek. This is a great spot for sandwiches, baked potatoes, and salads. Their portions are massive and are very reasonably priced. It had a great vibe inside with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for patrons to choose from. The service was great even though they were very busy when I went, I still got my food pretty quick. Everyone was very friendly and patient as it was my first time.
