My sister raved about this place as we were driving there. How good can a sandwich place be? I take it back- it is that good. I haven't stopped thinking about wanting another sandwich from there. They have sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, exploded potatoes. There were so many choices. I settled on the Mission which is a veggie sub on toasted sub. It was tasty, satisfying, and huge. I even got leftovers. My sister got the curry chicken as salad instead of a sandwich. I took a bite or two or may be three, it was delicious. The curry wasn't overpowering. Service was great. Friendly. Cheerful. It has a upbeat vibe. Some indoor and outdoor seatings. I may have to try the exploded potato next.

This was our first visit to aka Friscos, and we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon as the first customers of the day. The menu is HUGE, so many options to choose from! It definitely took us a little longer than the regulars to decide what to try, but that's only because everything looked so good. We ended up ordering a couple of sandwiches and one of their signature potatoes. The food was freshly prepared and came out pretty quickly. I tried the Alcatraz sandwich--while the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, I wish I had asked for a different type of bread. I'm not the biggest fan of white bread, and it started to fall apart a bit while I was eating it. My husband had the roast beef sandwich and a potato, and he really enjoyed both. Overall, the food was fresh, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. We're looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu. Definitely a spot worth revisiting!

We stopped in for a quick bite to eat after exploring the town of Frederick while visiting family. We decided on sandwiches and this had pretty good reviews. The menu is extensive and slightly overwhelming but there's something for everyone. Whether you want a hot or cold sandwich, a salad or a cup of soup. They have a little bit of everything. We ordered the Fatboy and a cup of white chicken chili. It was plenty for two people to split. We even went back for an extra cup of chili. There's plenty of seating inside. And you can even shop next-door for a beer or wine to go with your Sandwich. We love the vibe of this place and wish we had it back at home.

Still THE BEST Sandwich place in Frederick! The freshest ingredients piled high on delicious bread. Fast service. When you look at the pic take note that this is HALF of a sandwich; best bud had the other half. They changed out the tables and chairs. The new ones look nicer but we miss the old swivel chairs.

a.k.a. Friscos is a cool sandwich shop located amongst office complexes in Frederick, MD. The restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, sides and craft beers. The giant subs are named after locations in the San Francisco/Bay Area. I ordered the Trans-Am (named after the famous Transamerica Building. It's Friscos' take on a club sandwich, and it was incredible. I ordered half of a sandwich and it was more than filling. The staff is friendly and attentive and will answer any questions. There is not a lot of seating inside the restaurant, but plenty is outside. Don't worry, the outdoor seating is covered, so you don't have to worry about melting in the sun. If you're in the Frederick area and in the mood for a different type of sub shop, give a.k.a. Friscos a try!

What a hidden gem located in what looks more of an industrial park. Great atmosphere, tons of selection and our food was excellent! Also not pictured the steak potato!

Nothing not to love here at all. Incredibly imaginative and diverse menu of enormous sandwiches, salads and innovative variations on baked potato toppings. What they do, they do with supreme excellence. Pricing is most fair considering the generosity of the serving sizes; definitely a place to share a plate and not to feel bad about it. The "West of Santa Fe" salad hits the sweet spot of what they are best at; Tex-Mex and California cuisine with an upscale feel. Good selection of craft beers too for happy hour or maybe an early dinner before a Frederick Keys game, as we have done many times in the past. Don't let the business park location and industrial feel fool you. Very obviously the restaurant is run by foodies. One note: sub-optimal place for a business lunch or for (say) senior citizens despite the great accessibility: its austere and thus, loud inside. One can come back here dozens of times and not be bored.

Had a fantastic lunch experience at AKA Friscos yesterday. The turkey sandwiches were awesome, as was the Chili. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Food came out in under :15 mins. The sandwiches were fully stuffed with meat - I could only eat half of it. Highly recommend.

Great service and amazing food! We got 3 Alcatraz sandwiches, 1 trans-am sandwich, and 1 lomabard sandwich along with chili, Mac and cheese, and exploding potatoes. My personal favorite was the Alcatraz sandwich which tasted clean and the sauce really made the sandwich for me. Also I really enjoyed the exploding potatoes! Loved the atmosphere and helpful staff!

This place has really good sandwiches! I have come here a few times but to be honest the menu could use some updating. Sometimes less is more that way the focus can be on making things great and not hustle good. The mac & cheese needs seasoning it's nice to have all the cheese but seasoning is a must. I loves all the craft beer options and that there is a store attached. The young lady that took my order didn't seem like she wanted to be there but took our order. She failed to inform me where i would get the other kids meal goods(cookie, drink) and the cashier didn't informed me either. To be honest, I didn't have a horrible experience if it was OK it just needs some seasoning when it comes to the macaroni and cheese. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but overall it was very clean and things were in order. I would visit again

What an amazing Gem in Frederick, MD. If you are in the area and want something unique and fun. A.k.a Frisco's is a must! The service was amazing. Everyone was accommodating and offered anything we needed to have a good time! The employees were all in a good mood. Ambiance was chill with good vibes all around. The place got busy around dinner time but the staff turned around orders quickly. Food was great. We were famished and went with carbs. My daughters went with the kids Mac. We got a pizza to share and two loaded potatoes. Although the sandwich with sprouts looked amazing! We will be back whenever we are in Frederick. Easy 5 stars!

We usually get take out but I recently ate in and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Customer service is always on point - courteous and always willing to help you find the meal you want. My personal favorite is the Alcatraz sandwich - fresh sourdough, turkey, avocado, and sprouts! So yummy! This place is a staple for our out of town guests!!

We came here to celebrate a personal milestone and we did it at the last moment. Luckily, there was a table for it. We did not know what to expect, but some menu items had a nice twist to the dish. However, one dish was by far the best: the deviled eggs. The sauce and the prep was just amazing. It is not a lot of food and it is $20, but we both thought it was worth it to come back to eat it again. The other dishes we ordered were good, but the most memorable was the deviled eggs. I liked how they had a leaderboard for frequent customers though. That was cool to just stare at. The location has parking on the rocks and it was full by 6 pm on a Thursday. There is outside seating and limited inside seating. The bar area looked fairly busy because it was happy hour time. Its an old timey restaurant with a more mature setting that made us think of places like eating on Kent Island or Annapolis or St. Michaels. It is a hidden gem here - especially where it was located. The cocktails were well-made and balanced--strong without being overly sweet. We had the spicy paloma, whiskey sour, and the happy hour sparkling rosé. The goat cheese fritters were definitely cheesing! I actually spread them over the complimentary bread to make a little "crostini," and it was delicious! The highlight of our meal was the salmon with mashed potatoes and zucchini. They were also kind enough to split our entrée for us, which we appreciated. Definitely will be back to try more dishes and, of course, dessert! Hopefully, the weather will be nice enough next time for us to enjoy their patio. Overall, we had a great time!

The food overall was very good. - Beef Fat Fries: Very very good - The Steak Tartare was also good. I think it needed a bit more flavor - maybe more mustard or capers. - Caesar's Salad was so good, and those sesame churros were fantastic. - Oysters were good. - Ribeye steak was good. For what you're paying I expected something closer to a steakhouse quality cut and cook, but it was still good. And I liked the Yorkshire pudding. - Gnocchi, Asparagus, and Creamed Spinach were all good. - Rockfish was smaller than I thought it would be, but also good - The Prime Rib was also very good. I think it could have been helped by a little more flavorful au jus on the side. We really appreciated the Laguiole steak knives they gave us. They're not like those terrible dull bulky knives you get from even high-end steak houses. Overall a very pleasant dinner. Not sure it's worth the price tag, but there aren't a lot of options nearby for nicer restaurants - besides the Tasting Room.

Unfortunately, the service never matched the occasion. Our server never introduced themselves or acknowledged either celebration. They began taking orders without any engagement, and throughout the meal we were repeatedly unable to get their attention. I understand Sunday brunch is busy, but I work in a concierge-driven environment and was genuinely disappointed by the lack of hospitality. The food was mixed. The chicken and waffles and the omelet were good. My husband's steak was cold and the portion was very small. He ordered French fries but received unseasoned potatoes that lacked any flavor. My fish and chips were fine but also lacked seasoning, lemon, or any attention to detail. I specifically requested fries without Old Bay but received fries heavily coated in it. We also ordered a steak and eggs meal to go, which took about 30 minutes. When it was opened later, it contained only three small slices of steak. My brother-in-law genuinely thought he had been given someone's leftovers because the portion was so disappointing. My husband quietly paid the $300 bill while I still hoped someone might acknowledge the birthday or retirement with a simple mention, smile, or thank you. It never happened. We were never even offered a desert menu. We left without a goodbye or any acknowledgment from the staff. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe how we felt. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!
