I visited last weekend for lunch on a Friday. It was my first time here and I was solo so I sat at the bar. I started with their hazy ipa beer which was tasty. I ordered the chicken salad blt sandwich and upgraded to onion rings for an additional charge. The bartender wasn't great at multitasking when it was only me and one other couple at the bar. My food sat in the window forever before someone brought it to me. The sandwich wasn't bad but it fell all over the place while trying to eat it. The order came with three onion rings which were the most heavily battered onion rings I ever had. That wasn't a good thing. I assumed with paying several extra dollars for them it would come with the bacon Horseradish sauce that they are served with on the appetizer menu. I had to ask for it. My dirty plate with the napkins on top sat in front of me for a bit before the bartender figured out I was ready to go. I wasn't that impressed and probably won't be back.

The image shows the front exterior of a restaurant with large glass windows and a door, featuring a small outdoor seating area enclosed by a black railing. The building has a brown sloped roof and a brick facade. There is a parking lot with marked spaces in the foreground, including a parked black vehicle. A sign indicating curbside pickup is visible on the left side. The sky is partly cloudy with some blue visible, and shadows suggest it is daytime.

Overall, a pretty good experience. I was looking for a decent brunch spot in Frederick and showroom came up as a good option. Came in on a Sunday and it was pretty packed. Usually a good sign that the food is tasty to have people lining up to get in. It was just a short wait until we were able to be seated. The service was great. the waiter came over and let us know that he would be a minute because he was serving a large party. He did drop off menus and water. They put an entire bottle of water so you are free to serve yourself and refill as many times as You need. For an appetizer, we ordered the pot pie fritters. They were kind of like hush puppies stuffed with chicken and vegetables. The breading was interesting because it was actually Ritz crackers. It was very good and a different flavor than I'm used to. For my meal, I chose the chicken and waffles. My only complaint was that the chicken was not seasoned very much. However, it was moist inside and crispy on the outside. The waffle was cooked perfectly. But they did not include butter with it, though you can eat it without. It was all drizzled with a small amount of honey as well. The best part was their hot sauce. It reminded me a little bit of Frank's red heart, but it had a sweet flavor to it. I usually steer clear of the super hot hots. So, it was right up my alley. To rinse everything down I ordered the mimosa flight. It came with four 8 ounce pours so I was able to sample all of their different varieties. They had a traditional orange, a pineapple, a cranberry, and a cider. The cider one pretty much tasted like a sparkling cider. I think my favorite one was the traditional orange. Overall, the service was great. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food I could go either way on, but it was mostly good. I would come back again in the future, but it would not be my first option.

You can tell this is a staple in Frederick because it was booked and busy inside! Service was fairly quick, our waitress as helpful and informative. They have a variety of food on the menu, which is great if you don't know if you want breakfast or lunch.

We returned recently because I've been thinking about my last meal there since I left the restaurant (in June). We ordered almost the same things and had the same awesome server, Dylan. Dylan's got great calm vibes and the food was even better than I remembered it. Love this place. Chill, clean, simple atmosphere with good vibes and great food.

Nashville Hot Chicken

I was in the area for an event and I'm so happy I came by this place! Everything on their menu sounded delicious, but I ended up going with the hot chicken sandwich with fries and I was very impressed. The chicken was decently spicy, but it did need a little bit of salt. The sandwich had a huge piece of chicken in it so I appreciate them not skimping. Their fries OMG - might actually be top 3 fries I've ever had. They were crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. It had some seasoning on it with old bay and salt. The mac and cheese was also delicious and I'm usually not a fan of restaurant mac and cheese. The service was decent. My waitress was a little slow but it was fine I wasn't in a rush. The restaurant is super clean and spacious, super modern. Love this place, if I'm ever back in the area I'm coming back!

Came here on a Saturday and there were a good amount of people. Would recommend making a reservation if you want to sit at a table rather than the bar. We were greeted by our server who was very attentive and sweet the whole dining experience. We ordered the chicken & waffle and pit beef sandwich. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and delicious, and the waffles were light and fluffy. My friend said the sandwich was delicious along with the onion rings (which are huge). We also got a bucket of thick cut fries, which were delicious as well. I also love that we got 3 different sauces to eat with them. I wish we had more stomach space for the desserts, but I'm definitely going back for another meal and hopefully dessert!

Horseradish Bacon Sauce - A metal cup holds a thick, creamy mixture with visible chunks of ingredients, likely a sauce or dip. The cup is placed on a light-colored surface, and the mixture has a beige color with specks of darker ingredients.

While visiting Frederick, MD for a meeting, I stopped in here for lunch. Since it was just me, I sat at the bar rather than a table. Getting there on a weekday around 11AM, they were pretty busy, but the bar was wide open. Their menu is very interesting and creative. Asking the bartender what was popular, he gave me many suggestions, so I went with their Nashville Chicken Sandwich with a side of onion rings. The food was made fresh, hot, and quick. The onion rings were huge! Thick and they had an amazing batter on them which resembled the flavor of a hush puppy to me. It came with their horseradish bacon dipping sauce and that sauce was very nice with them. The chicken sandwich was substantial in size and had very tasty, freshly made pickles on it. The bread was incredible and flavorful. The chicken looked and tasted great, but didn't have much heat at all to it. I definitely liked it a lot though. Overall - great meal... Highly recommend stopping in... I'll definitely be back!

Came here with some friends. It was my first time going there. Parking is plentiful (the area is shared by others, but there are still many spots available). At first glance at the menu, I did not know what to order as there were many items I was interested in. I eventually settled on the following: Breakfast Sandwich - menu describes it as scrambled eggs with cheddar, bacon, avocado, and made on a choice of brioche bun, white, rye, or wheat. The dish is served with breakfast potatoes. There are some extra items on the menu for this meal, but next time I'll need to get proper clarification on it. The sandwich was great even though my eggs surely did not look scrambled. I would get it again, but maybe on a different type of bread. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and there were a lot of them on the plate. I also ordered a Strawberry Marshmallow Milkshake - described as having vanilla ice cream, strawberry jam, marshmallow and cookie crumbs. It was served in a very tall glass with a lot of extra leftovers in another tin cup. I really enjoyed it and could taste the strawberry flavor. The cookie crumbs were on the rim. The only negative, is that the paper straws they offered just was not working for me - I ended up with 3 straws in my cup. You know the feeling you get when it seems like the straw has a rip or tear - that is what it felt like when I used it (even though there wasn't a rip/tear in it) - strange. I think I just needed a much sturdier straw. I also got a Strawberry Lemonade to have with my meal. At first sip and second sip, I did not like this drink. Somehow, I could not taste the Lemonade, nor the Strawberry - not sure I would get that drink again. I may just stick to juice next time. Overall, I would go back.

Another view of my phenomenal chicken lunch.

Did you ever experience Deja Vu? That means you felt like you had been somewhere before? Well, I had no idea when I made the reservation, but I had been to this restaurant when it was owned by Brian Voltagio. I will say The Showroom stands on its own two feet. The food was fabulous. The service was great. The prices were very good. So, let's get into the details. We started off with deviled eggs. They were fabulous. The eggs were creamy, well seasoned, and the addition of bacon bits only added to our eating pleasure. My friend enjoyed a matcha martini, which looked beautiful and she really liked the flavor. It was a really unique take on a matcha cocktail. I ordered the fried chicken which came with chive biscuits and pickled vegetables. Let me tell you that chicken was down home delightful. The perfectly fried skin and moist tender meat inside was scrumptious. I loved the taste of the chive biscuits too. And, there were 4 pieces of chicken in my order! : 0 Yum! One friend got the fried chicken sandwich and she added a kale Caesar salad. She loved the salad and liked the sandwich too. Another, friend got the chicken and waffles and she enjoyed her meal. So, great food, good service, and generous portions. I would definitely stop by and savor a delicious meal.

The image shows the interior of a modern American casual restaurant with a high, black ceiling and ceiling fans. Large windows on the right side provide natural light and views of trees outside. The dining area is filled with customers seated at tables, and a bar or counter area with glassware and bottles is visible. Artwork decorates the walls, and balloons are tied to a fixture near the windows. The space has a contemporary design with a mix of seating options.

Before entering, you will not have any issue finding a parking space. Upon entering, you will find yourself inside a modern contemporary decorated restaurant. It was crowded with slight wait time. The background noise was about medium level, which you and your party can carry a conversation. The service was good, not overly attentive nor neglected. Food and drinks were prepared within timely manners. The portion of each was aplenty. All of us were satisfied with the food. All the food was scrumptious for sure. The guacamole on my toast was fresh. The pricing was reasonable, nothing crazy expensive nor cheap. The checkout process was easy. I did online pay by scanning QR code. Overall, it was enjoyable, it gets a 4.7 out of 5.

The food was good and the service was good as well. The ambiance was chill and laid back. I would recommend this spot. Just a little pricey.

kids chicken tenders - The image shows a divided white plate containing fried chicken tenders, French fries, a small cup of ketchup, and a portion of vegetable sticks including celery, carrots, and parsnips. The plate is placed on a wooden table, suggesting a casual dining environment. The food items are arranged neatly, with the chicken tenders and fries occupying the main sections and the vegetable sticks in a separate compartment.

summary: after a long day of travel, we stopped by for brunch before continuing on the road and what a great spot to stumble on. All of the food was delicious and the service was great. I love breakfast foods, so I feel like I have a pretty critical view on brunch spots. The Showroom was great from beginning to end though. The service was very friendly and the decor was modern, clean, and sleek. The vibe was casual, but seems like a great brunch spot for parties. As far as the food goes, this is where I was blown away. The chicken and waffles was delicious. My only complaint is that I feel like one piece of chicken wasn't enough! My gripe with chicken and waffles most of the time is that the chicken feels dry, but that was not an issue here. It was cooked perfectly with a nice crisp. All of the sauces that it comes with were great and well-balanced. The salad with shrimp was phenomenal as well. Whatever is going on in that kitchen is fantastic. Overall, a must-stop whether you're into brunch spots or not. I'm excited to try out some of their other options because I'll definitely be back.

SHRIMP & GRITS
Dianne Z.

Wow, this was certainly a pleasant experience for both of us. This dining experience was selected by the man, who after hearing me mention that they served shrimp & grits, decided we would make this our stop in Frederick after we visited another attraction on a Friday morning. We arrived slightly after 12 noon on a Friday. All booths were filled and we were seated at a 4-top floor table (no issue for us). Menus and water were provided immediately. We didn't see our waitress for a bit but again, it was shortly after 12 noon on a Friday and nearly all the tables were occupied. I ordered the shrimp & grits of course. My gentleman companion ordered the Chef's Breakfast which was comprised of 2 eggs (cooked your way), bacon, sausage, toast with butter and jelly, and fried potatoes. That was a WHOLE plate of food right there. My dish was phenomenal. Everything I was wanting and more. He thoroughly enjoyed his selection and both our plates were nearly wiped clean! Before we left, we agreed we will be returning. This is a freestanding building in the middle of a paved parking lot, so plenty of space to park. I did not visit the restrooms but I have to think they were as sparkling clean as the front of the restaurant. I was told this building used to be a car dealership showroom, hence the name. I'm not sure what the owner was going for but the vibe I got was 'contemporary but classic elevated diner experience' where the environment was contemporary and classic and the menu was definitely the most-welcome (to us) elevated diner experience. Super welcoming environment. I also enjoyed looking at all the artwork on display (and for sale).

The main dining room is absolutely gorgeous with the stonework and architecture. The bar area was very busy as we were on the tail end of their happy hour. Our server walked us through the menu. We started with the ravioli appetizer. It had shaved truffles on top and egg yolk covered in Parmesan cheese. They almost had a little crunch to them and the inside was filled with ricotta cheese. The sides are à la carte as is most of the menu. I ordered the tavern burger. It came with beef fat glaze among other spreads and was very well seasoned. The side of beef fat fries were also well seasoned and crispy. The best dish was the pot roast. It was so tender and the gravy was so flavorful. This paired perfect with their creamy mashed potatoes. The service was decent but the food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. They have a huge variety of cocktails and wine. It's a bit more formal Dining. It doesn't require a jacket or anything.

We received fantastic service from start to finish, from being seated right at our reservation time to our server answering our dietary needs questions to our dishes coming out in a timely and well-paced manner. Wye Oak's ambiance being set in a former church/religious institution is unique, providing an interesting ambiance. However, the food left much to be desired. While the presentation on every dish ranged from good to amazing, out of the seven dishes we shared only 1.5 of them were delicious. Some of the dishes were bland and one note; others were overcooked or overseasoned. We shared the following dishes: Coddies: While the cod was perfectly cooked and breaded, it had no flavor. The cauliflower tartar sauce added nothing to the dish; the cauliflower giardiniera at least added some nice crunch and acid. Savory Parmesan Cheesecake: The cheesecake had no flavor; the acid and freshness of the cherry tomatoes of the arugula pesto could not elevate or salvage this dish. Cheese Ravioli: By far the best dish of the evening. The ravioli tasted fresh, were nicely cooked, and the cheeses and sauce were delicious. Smoked Beet Pastrami: The beets were well-cooked and fantastically seasoned, complemented perfectly by the dressing. However, there needed to be more beets and a better beet-to-funnel cake ratio; while the funnel cake added some nice crunch, there was way too much of it and did not do much for the dish. Brussels Sprouts: Well-seasoned, although very greasy and overcooked. Broccoli di Ciccio: Perfectly cooked, but very salty. It did have good heat. House Rolls with butter: Warm and fine, but nothing distinct. I would try elsewhere if you are looking to dine out in Frederick, especially given Wye Oak Tavern's prices.

Stopped into True Standard Distilling during the Frederick St. Patty's Day bar crawl and the place was absolutely buzzing all day. As a rum distillery, everything on the cocktail menu leans rum which makes things interesting, especially when they remix classics that usually feature other spirits. I tried their take on a negroni and it was surprisingly really well done. It kept that familiar bitter and balanced profile but with a unique rum twist that made it stand out. The interior was unexpected but in a good way. They were still fully committed to a Valentine's Day theme with pink everywhere and a massive faux chocolate candy wall right when you walk in. It honestly felt like stepping into a mini Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, which added a fun and memorable touch. Despite the crowd, service was quick and efficient. The bartenders clearly knew what they were doing and kept drinks moving without sacrificing quality.
