We were a party of six for brunch yesterday, celebrating two very special milestones: a 50th birthday and my father-in-law's retirement after 60 years. We wanted a memorable place to mark the occasion and chose Showroom. I even noted both celebrations when making our reservation a week in advance. The hostess was friendly and kind, although clearer direction on where to wait would have helped. The front entrance was congested, and we felt like we were in everyone's way. Unfortunately, the service never matched the occasion. Our server never introduced themselves or acknowledged either celebration. They began taking orders without any engagement, and throughout the meal we were repeatedly unable to get their attention. I understand Sunday brunch is busy, but I work in a concierge-driven environment and was genuinely disappointed by the lack of hospitality. The food was mixed. The chicken and waffles and the omelet were good. My husband's steak was cold and the portion was very small. He ordered French fries but received unseasoned potatoes that lacked any flavor. My fish and chips were fine but also lacked seasoning, lemon, or any attention to detail. I specifically requested fries without Old Bay but received fries heavily coated in it. We also ordered a steak and eggs meal to go, which took about 30 minutes. When it was opened later, it contained only three small slices of steak. My brother-in-law genuinely thought he had been given someone's leftovers because the portion was so disappointing. My husband quietly paid the $300 bill while I still hoped someone might acknowledge the birthday or retirement with a simple mention, smile, or thank you. It never happened. We ate here last night for a friend's graduation dinner. We had never eaten here before, as we usually go to Oscars. I got the Reuben, which wasn't bad. It wasn't the best Reuben I ever had, but it wasn't bad either. The fries could've probably been a little crispier. My wife got the crabcake, but there seem to be too much sauce on the sandwich so she had to just eat it with a fork. Taste wise it was OK. Again not the best one we've ever had, but not bad. Overall, a pretty good experience. I was looking for a decent brunch spot in Frederick and showroom came up as a good option. Came in on a Sunday and it was pretty packed. They put an entire bottle of water so you are free to serve yourself and refill as many times as You need. For an appetizer, we ordered the pot pie fritters. They were kind of like hush puppies stuffed with chicken and vegetables. The breading was interesting because it was actually Ritz crackers. It was very good and a different flavor than I'm used to. For my meal, I chose the chicken and waffles. My only complaint was that the chicken was not seasoned very much. However, it was moist inside and crispy on the outside. Everything on their menu sounded delicious, but I ended up going with the hot chicken sandwich with fries and I was very impressed. The chicken was decently spicy, but it did need a little bit of salt. The sandwich had a huge piece of chicken in it so I appreciate them not skimping. Their fries OMG - might actually be top 3 fries I've ever had. They were crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. It had some seasoning on it with old bay and salt. Came here with some friends. It was my first time going there. Parking is plentiful (the area is shared by others, but there are still many spots available). At first glance at the menu, I did not know what to order as there were many items I was interested in. I eventually settled on the following: Breakfast Sandwich - menu describes it as scrambled eggs with cheddar, bacon, avocado, and made on a choice of brioche bun, white, rye, or wheat. The dish is served with breakfast potatoes. There are some extra items on the menu for this meal, but next time I'll need to get proper clarification on it. The sandwich was great even though my eggs surely did not look scrambled. I would get it again, but maybe on a different type of bread. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and there were a lot of them on the plate. I also ordered a Strawberry Marshmallow Milkshake - described as having vanilla ice cream, strawberry jam, marshmallow and cookie crumbs. It was served in a very tall glass with a lot of extra leftovers in another tin cup. I really enjoyed it and could taste the strawberry flavor. The cookie crumbs were on the rim. The only negative, is that the paper straws they offered just was not working for me - I ended up with 3 straws in my cup. You know the feeling you get when it seems like the straw has a rip or tear - that is what it felt like when I used it (even though there wasn't a rip/tear in it) - strange. I think I just needed a much sturdier straw. I also got a Strawberry Lemonade to have with my meal. At first sip and second sip, I did not like this drink. I visited last weekend for lunch on a Friday. It was my first time here and I was solo so I sat at the bar. I started with their hazy ipa beer which was tasty. I'm not sure what the issue is - the restaurant is short staffed or they just don't care - but today was the last straw. After hearing about Showroom's origins, we had high hopes for an excellent experience. I'm sorry to say, with one exception nothing lived up to our expectations. We were visiting Frederick for a weekend wedding from the West Coast. Our AirBnb was nearby downtown Frederick and was a 5-minute drive from Showroom. If we could, we would've came here one more time before we left! We would definitely visit again. Food: Prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. We ordered the cheddar chive biscuits and wow! One of the best biscuits I've had at a restaurant. Moist, flavorful, and melted easily in your mouth. I ordered the waffle with the banana compote and it was simple yet enough to savor. I was more than happy with my order. Service: Our waitress was fun, entertaining, and informative! I forgot her name but she was an absolute gem. She elevated our dining experience to another level. The rest of the staff were pleasant and were very kind. We felt welcomed the moment we stepped in. Ambiance: Casual but not like Denny's/iHOP kind of casual. The interior design was nice and up to date, and comforting.
