I've been here so many times. Great choice if you're stopping by the library. The lattes are strong and creamy, and the banana one in specific is SO GOOD. I'd say the food is a bit overpriced but I think their sweet potato fries are very good and seasoned and their herby ranch they give on the side is very amazing. I got their beyond burger which was a good burger, nothing crazy but I really enjoyed it. Everyone who works there is so sweet too, each time I've came in someone always answers my questions. I'd say it's not that good of a place to get work done as it's always decently packed and since it's small a bit loud at times. read more

The place it self is slightly dark, and not too aesthetically pleasing but don't let that deter you! I was meeting up with an old friend and we decided to get brunch on a weekday so we picked Café Nola. Once we arrived we were seated within a couple minutes of arriving, and the waitress was very nice and attentive to our orders and the timing of our meal. The restaurant was very lively with other customers, and it really gave off a café feel with the decor. I ordered a French toast with an orange juice and the French toast was exceptional. It was nice and crisp went outside and fluffy on the inside and a side of bacon eggs were cooked well Also it came with like an apple jam and syrup. I liked the syrup in an apple jam brought a nice sweetness to the French toast if you didn't want to use the syrup. For a brunch spot I highly recommend this restaurant. Nice place for breakfast or lunch. They do stay open till two in the morning as the bar is fully functioning into the evening. Breakfast is served day or night. They have a large selection of coffees to choose from. The service was OK and brought us everything that we needed. The food was also just OK. Cafe Nola I accidentally ended up at this spot - I intended to go somewhere else for brunch, but mixed up the locations. Since I was a solo diner, it was best to sit at the bar (plus, there were no tables available). I ordered the french toast that comes with eggs and bacon, and I also ordered a biscuit and a roasted potatoes sides. The food here is simple, but cooked well. The french toast was thick and fluffy (it came with an apple cinnamon compote that I didn't eat much of), bacon was crispy, the biscuit was buttery, the eggs weren't too runny or hard, and the potatoes were soft with crispy skin. Omgggg. Loved this place! Was visiting from out of town and wanted a cute cafe! Was told it is also open late night with a band on the weekends. Would love to come back and see it. We did have to wait, for two people it was about a 20 minute wait, not too bad. the seasonal latte was amazing! Obsessed. The biscuits and gravy weren't due for! A hard pass for me. Stopped by with my two friends today for brunch. We all drove about 30-40 minutes to meet up and try this cafe out, and boy did it disappoint. We were greeted by a host with bangs who told us the wait would be 15 minutes and to wait in the vestibule. Okay no problem. The vestibule was cold and people filtered both in and out from the street, letting the cold windy air in. We waited and waited watching people enter the cafe. Thats when we noticed the hostess had seated 9 parties (larger than our 3) before us. At which point I walk back in to check in. The hostess looked alarmed that we are still waiting, even though we had done exactly as she instructed and waited out of the way. That is when I had asked if they took reservations, to which she replied "no". I had checked myself the day before. So she admitted to seating the SEVERAL parties before us within that statement. When we were finally seated, we were quite literally shoved in a corner by a door. My friend and I could not feel our toes by the end of our meal and catch up. (I had on Uggs) Our server was friendly and attentive. The food and coffee was good, but not good enough to EVER return. The cafe also appeared dirty and the bathroom spelled of mildew. read more

OMG! We were able to walk right in and get a table for 4 on a Saturday at 9pm! The Ninja Turtle Latte was delicious, I tried asking for it somewhere else and it wasn't the same! Stopped by Nola this weekend for a quick breakfast with a friend. The space is lively and welcoming to all. We were seated faster than I anticipated for such a busy morning! I got an iced coffee with almond milk which was really refreshing and didn't feel too caffeinated/bitter. I had the French toast, eggs and sausage. The texture of the sausages was not my favorite but the dish was filling. My French toast was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle! My friend had the turkey club and said it was really protein packed, the side of fruits were fresh too. I went to Cafe Nola around two pm on a Friday to grab a bite after an appointment in town. There weren't many other patrons as it seemed to be in between any lunch rushes and was perfect for reading a few chapters of my book!! I had an Italian Benedict with a side of fruit and an iced pistachio latte. The side of fruit consisted of a few apple slices, orange slices, and grapes which were all fresh and nice on a hot July day. The Italian Benedict was pretty standard but I really enjoyed the iced pistachio latte! The food - it's really good, not highly seasoned though so if you like your food items to taste as-is, you're in luck. If not - add salt and pepper. The vegan hash bowl - my favorite. The Beyond burger tasted like it came right out of the package with no seasoning at all, and these burgers need some help. But their vegan cheese is delicious! I ordered a smash burger and was disappointed on how little char was on the burger. What's the point of a smash burger if there is no char on it? This area is quite crowded, but I feel they could do a better job of service despite the big crowds. A simple acknowledgement or a "I'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. read more

A nice quiet stroll in Frederick dropped us in a nice little bar/cafe called Nola! There is a nice row of small tables hugging the length of the building off the sidewalk and on-a nice day it's a great place to relax! As you enter the front door the pleasant aroma of roasting coffee flows through your senses and you get a nice feeling of what breakfast smells like. I ordered the croissant sandwich and asked for crispy home fries and they did not disappoint! Poached Egg/bacon/croissant = yummy! The home fries were crunchy on the outside and mashed potato inside! Yummy! I also had a Bloody Mary and Spivey goodness all the way! It's a bar with a twist that we have not yet experienced, but I am sure all the locals love this place and it's open until...LATE! Nice long bar with great rail drinks and all the beer you want! Cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in a bar environment! I had breakfast at 9am on a Tuesday, Dec., 2024 at Cafe Nola. It wasn't really that busy. Every employee in the restaurant was around 20 years old. There didn't appear to be anyone in charge. I'm guessing if I asked for a manager, I would have been out of luck. I ordered the shrimp and grits. This was probably the worst shrimp and grits I've ever had. The grits and shrimp had zero seasoning or flavor and the sausauge tasted old, cheap and also bland. They tossed some sauteed cherry tomatoes in it also, and they were also bland. I've had delicious shrimp and grits, or at least pretty good shrimp and grits at various places. Most places season their shrimp and have a flavorful sauce that mixes well with the grits, but I was highly dissapointed. No sauce or anything. Just straight from the box and bag flavor. I'm guessing they had a cook in the kitchen with zero cooking experience or was following instructions from a website on an I-pad over the stove. I live around Frederick and won't be back. read more

Was finally able to check out Nola Cafe. The service was very good and seemed to be consistent throughout the restaurant as it was pretty busy for breakfast service. The inside isn't huge but has a decent amount of seating along with some outdoor seating offered and is dog friendly for those who'd like to have their dogs with them while they eat outside. The decor is a bit confusing, a lot of different themes going on the walls. Lots of art on wall (appears to be for sale too). The menu is very robust and includes a variety of espressos and other coffee drinks. I got the shrimp and grits and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. The grits were very bland and unseasoned (smoked Gouda? I didn't taste any) and the andouille sausage was very dry and almost shriveled. After adding salt, pepper, and hot sauce I got it to a pretty good point. The shrimp are very large and plentiful in the dish and was certainly the highlight. I will be back to try other dishes. Very good food. Fresh and reasonable. We came in on a first Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Service was good and the scene was awesome. I loved that it is locally owned and LGBQT inclusive. Biscuits and gravy was okay, though the sauce was soup consistency instead of a classic thick gravy. Bacon was floppy, potatoes were bland and the French toast consistency was like it was put in a toaster instead of a griddle as it was crunchy but the apple compote was tasty.
