    Crab cake
    Ruchi S.

Went here for dinner with my daughter since it was close to our hotel. It's very cozy and "western" inside. Our server was very nice and attentive but a bit on the serious side. I ordered the salmon teriyaki along with a crab cake. They were both amazing!! The teriyaki sauce was light and not too sweet and the salmon was served on top of mixed veggies...delicious and light! The crab cake-only $12 as an add on-was completely crab meat and not filled with fillers like most restaurants! I was very pleasantly surprised and it was also delicious and a good size. My daughter had the kids chicken tenders which were actually big pieces of boneless chicken, along with broccoli. It also came with a brownie ice cream dessert...great value for great food! We both had a very delicious and satisfying meal and I highly recommend this place to anyone in the Frederick area! The only issue I had was that the server was quite serious (but very attentive). He loosened up at the end and smiled when I told him how great the meal was but it was a bit serious throughout.

Love the Food & Vibe here. Had Tiger wings, Pork Chop, & Cowboy steak. Sides Chop salad, Broccolini, Creamed Cauliflower (new discovery & awesome), & Mushrooms, ALL Delicious. Rhonda was great & spot on. As always, another great meal. Happy Hour is great too. Thank you !!!

Made a reservation here Saturday night while in the area for a game. I noticed this place listed in a variety of restaurants in the Frederick area and decided to give it a go. They are very busy, and even with a reservation we waited 5-10 minutes for our table. We were sat in a booth in the back left. It reminds me of a hunting lodge version of Outback, with a massive bar area that looked cool, as well as televisions in the bar area for taking in games. We started with the steak egg rolls which came out almost immediately. They were served au jus as well as with a spicy mayo. They were standard and tasted very good. I ordered the special American wagyu steak for my entree. I added a side of the aged Gorgonzola cheese sauce, and swapped the baked potato for sweet potato casserole and a side of broccoli. It also came with a small side caesar salad. The salad was pretty weak - not much dressing to it. Would have rather not had it than been served it. The steak was good - a very rare medium but the taste made up for it. The sauce was very good as well - I am glad I added that. The sweet potato was also very good and came out molten. I would highly recommend adding it to your meal. We shared a peanut butter pie for dessert. What I really appreciated about it was the size of the slice, and the taste was incredibly good. This is a must order item. Overall, our waitress was great - older lady with reddish hair. She was nice and played along with my dumb jokes. Would return, highly recommend as a Long Horn, Outback substitute.

    Blackened salmon on grits

Met family for a weekend brunch, my first visit here. This is a wonderful restaurant! The quality of the food is to notch, with a wonderful variety of flavor experiences! At our brunch we tried the French Toast Slammer, El Torero Breakfast, blackened salmon with eggs on grits, and Homestyle Breakfast. All were perfectly done! Yum was what everyone was saying. The French Toast Slammer is their bedding of a Monty Christo sandwich...French toast stuffed with ham, turkey a cheese...big enough for two modest appetites! Our server fails or was the most popular choice at brunch. The El Torero Breakfast was also a unique breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs on a bed of rice, chorizo sausage crumbles, blabk beans and peppery salsa verde. Delicious is all I can say! The blackened salmon with eggs on grits, was flakes and moist, grits were nice and creamy. Service was attentive and very helpful. Ambience was upscale casual. We got reservations for Sunday brunch which is recommended.

Madrones has become one of my go to's in Frederick. To be honest, they never disappoint when at the bar. We usually go on a Friday during happy hour, which is from 3-6pm, but whats awesome is they have a late night happy hour that starts at 9pm and runs until close. Pretty great if you plan to stay out late. They have a pretty good happy hour menu as well! The bartenders are all pretty great and attentive. They also deliver amazing service. My favorite bartender is Travis. He definitely goes above and beyond, and makes one of the best long islands. As far as food, my favorite dish is the beef tenderloin with jumbo shrimp. It comes with scallops but I always to request to swap with shrimp. The flavor is amazing and the sauce and corn added the perfect touch. Other times if I share with others, we opt for appetizers and really enjoy most of the options. The crab dip and spinach dip are really good. I also love the tiger shrimp and the spicy chicken lettuce wraps. Very good options for happy hour. Their burgers and sandwiches are also enjoyable. Overall, great spot in Frederick to enjoy, especially if sitting at the bar. Plenty of seating and parking, and the bathrooms and generally kept clean as well.

We stopped at Madrone's again this past Friday night after the high school football game. Can't say enough good things about everything I've tried from here from food to drinks. The waiter, Nas, was very friendly and always available. We have never had a bad experience here. I highly recommend. Also, they have a Happy Hour Menu that is available Monday-Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and every night 9:00 p.m. - close. You must sit in the bar area only. You can't beat the prices and it works out perfect after a Friday night game.

Local steakhouse, convenient location, quality food, comfortable atmosphere, lighting can be a little dark at times. Reasonable price. Ok service - not all that warm and friendly with personal touch at times, but efficient is what you can expect. Definitely recommend by @WineDinenVacay

Chicken and sausage gumbo, Soup of the day

Delicious food! Would definitely recommend. Coming in, there was no one in the front to help me get seated and I was confused whether I had to sit myself or not. I ended waiting around 10 minutes before someone came and sat me down. Otherwise, my server was attentive around the time I might need them. The place itself is a dimly lit restaurant with a bar that can seat parties of different sizes. I got the "soup of the day" and it was delicious, it was the size of a small meal or appetizer but it was packed with consistently, well-seasoned flavor. It was a thick soup but wasn't "heavy-sitting". I additionally got the Madrones Burger and it was juicy and filling. It was packed sufficiently with the other toppings where I usually have a bite of everything. I ordered a medium but it seemed closer to the lines of medium-rare. Price-wise it was definitely pricey and more along the lines of a nicer meal, paying for the increased quality of food. I would come back again to try the other foods/entrees and have some drinks and it would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the hiccup in the beginning.

It's been so long since I've been here and the food is just as delicious, service is just as great, and the vibe is always right. This is one of the best hidden gems in Maryland. I cleared that plate lol

It filled up fast, and there was a lively bar crowd, and also an engagement party celebration upstairs. All of the servers were so friendly, and happy to share their favorite dishes and beers, etc. We started with the wings, which were great, and then we had the house salad with salmon and the burger and fries. OK, I did not order the burger and fries, but my boyfriend did, and I ate half the fries on his plate, they were that good! Great, friendly, with generous pours for wine, and just a really friendly, great place with perfect food for a winter day. I wish I could find a place like this in Washington, DC.

There's a lot of potential here, but when your wagyu burger costs more than Le Diplomate's iconic burger in DC, I'm expecting something amazing. Every ingredient was very seasoned on its own, but when combined, the burger was overwhelmingly salty. I could barely taste anything besides salt. The cocktails were also overly sweet, and I regrettably had to send them back a couple of times. That said, our waiter's service was excellent. But this place needs a lot of improvement. Way too salty, too greasy, and overpriced.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and you could tell many of the folks there were regulars - like a modern Cheers vibe. My personal favorite among the beers was the En Fleur and we really liked the Penny Pincher and the Irish Stout they had. I even tried my first breakfast stout there (though I probably will never have beer for breakfast in my wiser years)! It is in the same space as a burger spot, which I think is really smart. We will definitely be back!

OMG; OMB is so freaking good!…read more Frederick has a wealth of local brewers, and Olde Mother is consistently at the top of the heap. The taproom at OMB has a warm, Cheers-like vibe (they don't know my name, but I'm working on it!). Their taps feature a rotating selection of light, sour/fruity, hoppy, dark/malty, and non-alcoholic beers. I'm a fan of their various Kolsches, and their stouts are "interesting" (I enjoyed their Morning Ritual Golden Breakfast Stout this week: looks like a lager, with a maple syrup taste that was really refreshing. Guinness it wasn't!). They also offer cocktails and wines for those poor people that can't appreciate a well-crafted, well-poured brews (pagans!). Pours are generous, prices are reasonable, value is great. They even have a selection of board games so you can while away a cold (or hot) evening by yourself or with friends. But wait: there's more... OMB shares space with Backslash Burgers (which was recently renamed from "50/50 Burgers" for what sounds like trademark reasons. Yelp hasn't caught the name change yet. You'll have to look them up under the old name for my (5 star, baby!) review. TLDR: amazing 50% beef/50% bacon smashburgers cooked to order with your choice of toppings, or you can choose from several very interesting regular offers. (If you like heat, try the "I Can't Feel My Face" burger. I dare you...). Sandwiches can be ordered as single or double patties, and can be made with chicken. Large groups can be accommodated, and there are regular events (bands, Night Markets, even a "Paint Your Pet" night are on this month's schedule) to help bring in thirsty and hungry hordes. Trivia Night is every Thursday, and it can get raucous. OMB shares a parking lot across the street with Gravel & Grind bike and coffee shop. It's not easily handicap accessible, with a few steps separating OMB and BB, and since both are self-service that could be a problem, but it's a great place to make helpful friends, no? The hours are also a little quirky for a pub (Monday-Saturday 11AM-10PM, Sunday 11AM-7PM). So, if you find your way to Frederick (and you should!), stop in for a great brew and burger. Made a reservation not like you really need one, but we made one and was seated down pretty quickly. The host was nice and friendly and the wait staff said hello to us within the five minutes of us seating. I appreciated how family-friendly this place was, they give these cute little animal boxes with different things inside and crayons to keep the kids entertained. The decoration is fun with a lot of outdoor vibes and stuffed real animals. They bring out a side of chip and a yogurt dill dip that's interesting, a fun idea. The food, mhm so we ordered a lot! Crab dip: 2.5/5 not too bad but not memorable, okay amount of crab, flavors were too heavy on the cream cheese/fillers but just okay, they need more bread with it but the chips helped. Prob wouldn't order again Crab cake: 3.8/5 pretty good size and good amount of crab and good flavor probably the best dish that we had ordered here! Would get again. Burger: 3/5 granted I did order this medium well for my kid, but the burger was charred a little too much around the burger, giving it a sort of dry crunch on the edges and charcoal burn vibes. Not my favorite texture that I would want on a burger, but perhaps it would've been different if I ordered a medium? Bread itself was a little stale/crunchy which I did not prefer how it was cooked/prepared. Overall, it was just okay. Ribs: 2.5/5 the ribs were half off ribs so I decided to go for it because of the good deal. But it was just okay, being that Blackhog barbecue is right next-door (thier dry rub ribs are amazing), I would hope that they would step up their barbecue rib game. For a " full rack" there were only nine bones and seemed a little smaller than what I'm used to. It's very heavy on the sauce which I didn't think was the best pairing and wasn't the best flavor bbq sauce. Overall, I wouldn't order it again. Steak kabob: 3.2/5 this was actually pretty tender for the cut of meat, I'm surprised that I didn't have to work for it so I was happy about that! The only criticism that we have is that the meat itself did not have that much flavor or seasoning and there's only one skewer of meat and one skewer of veggies. Meaning the total amount of meat that was probably on that dish was no more than 4 -5 ounces of steak. And for that price point, I would want a little bit more meat. Mac and Cheese: 3.5/5 pretty good for a kids Mac! Good cheese and flavor was impressed! Overall, the service and the host in the experience of being there was pretty good, but the food was a little lacking not sure if I would go again, but it was on our right experience in terms of food
