We had a great time!! Everything went amazing. We had a reservation and it was way to come in a get our table, greeted and given waters pretty fast. Parking is garage parking or street parking, all close by. We had gotten the crab dip, steak, and crab cake, Ceaser salad, and dessert. It was our wedding anniversary and they gave complimentary Champaign for us to celebrate (very cute and set the tone, it's small things like this that add to the experience!) We hit up an old favorite dining spot of mine, a place I hadn't been to since COVID. As always, it did not disappoint. Amazing food, drinks, service and atmosphere! We started off with the Muscles, which were in a really nice and light curry sauce. They even brought extra bread for dipping in the sauce. Very tasty and tender. My Ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and well marbled. I had them swap out the fingerling potatoes for scalloped potatoes instead. They paired really well. The Clam Pasta was very good. They use delicious little neck clams over linguini. Clams were cooked perfectly and was big enough for at least a couple of meals. But the star of the show was the Beef Tartare. Honestly, the best tartare I think I've ever had. So much complex flavors and the beef was so soft with a little chew. And the portion size was huge. We will definitely be returning back soon read more

Despite it being prime dinner time on a Friday evening, we were never rushed -- such a refreshing change from other places that try to turn over tables quickly. We began with a bottle of Prosecco for the table and a delicious charcuterie tasting board. The service was courteous, impeccably timed, and the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance was elegant yet cozy, and the volume was just right for easy conversation. As if all that didn't make for a perfect evening already, the food was incredible. Every dish at our table impressed. The Duroc pork chop -- pan-seared and served with peach moustarde, broccolini, and chèvre grits -- was the best pork we've ever had. The lamb chop entrée also earned high praise! And we can't forget the cocktails -- the Pick Me Up Espresso Martini was perfectly coffee-forward and creamy without being overly sweet. Ok, so the tasting room is in downtown Frederick. I should take a star for parking becuase frankly parking in downtown Frederick MD is not easy. BUt location-wise they are 1/2 a block from the Church Street parking garage. The Menu is fun. We decided to do appetizers rather than full meals. Its fun to get different things and share. 1. the food was well prepared. 2. the crab dip was out of this world. Our server was amazing and did a good job. She was around but not hovering. Finally we ended with their take on Creme Brule, they had me at Creme. The desert was perfect and topped off the evening. It was an anniversary dinner and we had mentioned that to our server. Overall a 5-star bar experience We weren't able to get reservations a couple of days out so, decided to wing it on Friday night. It was risky but well worth it! Haven't been here in over a year (maybe more) but, the waitstaff is always friendly and very competent with the mixology! Definitely try a seasonal cocktail! Hubby and I decided to share a few plates and an entree. Started with the beef tartare, which was prepared expertly and very fresh. That being said, this is not your classic tartare. It had an Asian flare, which was tasty and unique... but sometimes a girl is craving a bit of classic flavor. It still merits a 5 star because it was prepared perfectly and looked beautiful. Then, we had the fried artichoke. This is a GEM of an appetizer! Whole artichoke hearts, cooked just right. Plated over a not too lemony hummus type spread. I love it when you can actually taste the star ingredient, which in this case is the artichoke Finally, we shared the scallop entree. Again, the cook knows exactly how to prepare this dish! Nice crusty sear, no crazy over seasoning. You can taste the lovely, fleshy scallops. A few of the bites were a smidge gritty...nothing off putting but, noticeable. Would absolutely order this again! Dessert was a lovely corn cake with berries and a fresh whipped cream. Sounds a little weird, and i was looking to try something different. This was it and I'm glad i did!! Loved the crunchy texture of the corn cake and the berries were a wonderful mix of tart with a hint of sweet. Paired dessert with their signature Espresso Martini for a perfecto and memorable finish! In a word? STELLAR. I've been to The Tasting Room many times and always enjoy it. But my experience there this weekend for my friend's birthday was the best yet. I started with one of their experimental cocktails -- the verde daiquiri -- which is a lovely concoction of rum, juices, and green Chartreuse (which is heavenly all on its own). DIVINE. Our group of three old friends decided to order an array of things from the menu and share. We got Nduja mussels, octopus with romesco sauce, scallops crudo, lobster mashed potatoes, New England clam chowder, and skirt steak with fingerling potatoes. All -- especially the octopus, which was cooked to perfection -- was excellent. We asked Justin, TR's sommelier, for something special and celebratory. He brought us a lovely bottle of Loire Valley Cremant (because no celebration is complete without bubbles) that was absolutely delicious and, along with Justin's witty banter, the perfect complement to our feast. The short rib was pretty dry and expensive for what you got. The crab cakes was pretty much just all breaded and price was a little lower for what we usually pay. The service was really great though as our server frequently checked up on us and was very nice. The best thing here was probably the cheesecake with guava sorbet! who would've thought that that combo with cheesecake would be so decadent and delicious. I came here for brunch on a Sunday. The service was amazing. The waiters were very polite and attentive. They had a nice menu. I ordered lobster chowder and the Chesapeake Benedict. Both were really good. The chowder had the taste of lobster throughout and had a good amount of lobster meat. The chowder is a little sweet but not too overwhelming. The Benedict was really flavorful also. I would definitely come back here to try other things. Our experience here was a mixed bag. Let's start with the service, 5 stars! Our waitress and the host were very inviting and kind. Then there is the overall look and feel of the restaurant, 4 stars. I have to deduct a but for a dirty back panel on the bench. The fabric just looked old, like years of tobacco stains or something. Next I will say their whiskey selection is absolutely 5 stars!!! Springbank 12?? Yes please. So what went wrong?!? Well, an hour and a half wait for our entree was less than ideal. Especially since the couple next to us showed up much later and they got theirs around the same time as us. Finally, the food itself. I got the boar tenderloin which came with some sort of bread pudding that had zero flavor. I've never experienced something like that in my life. I mean it tasted like nothing at all. The meat itself was good, but everything else on the plate was pointless. 2 stars. My wife got the steak and fries, which she did enjoy, but let's be honest, you can get that anywhere and pay way less. So the money we paid felt wasted and I don't think we will be back. read more

We went to the Tasting Room for a special occasion. We have been there before and really enjoyed it, but not for a few years. On the positive side, the wait person was very good and accommodating. On the other hand, the food was not anywhere near top notch, when compared to the price. The crab cake selection had a lot of filling versus crab. The stone bass was average quality and a small portion versus the $42 price. A glass of 6oz. mediocre chardonnay for $19 was hard to believe. In addition, given the table we were at, every time someone came in the entrance door, we got a blast of cold air which also negatively affected our dining experience. The first one was overcooked, and Jessica and the Manager offered for it to be sent back and replaced with a new one. I have to give it to them because, they were so nice about it and quickly brought out a new one. The second was cooked the way I liked it, but because they put it on a "hot plate" it continued to cook. So by the time I got to the end of the steak it was well done, and I lost interest in finishing it. Even though I really wanted to finish it and the steak was such a great cut, seasoned to perfection, and delicious otherwise. The side dishes were really good as well. Finally, I usually don't have any room for dessert, but because the food was the perfect portions and not "heavy," I was able to have dessert. So, my friend and split the Creme Brûlée. OMGOODNESS! So good! The strawberry compote made it even better for me! I loved it! It was perfect! I've been going to the Tasting Room for years. I only order the filet mignon. It is so delicious that I think about it daily. So I took my friend who is an owner and chef of a very high end restaurant. He ordered the ribeye. I did not notice that he was struggling to eat it. Out of respect for me he did not say anything about it but a couple of weeks later he told me it was the toughest ribeye that he had ever had.
